Diesel vehicles offer greater fuel-efficiency and lower greenhouse gas emissions at a time when national governments seek to reduce the energy and climate impacts of the vehicle fleet. Policies that promote diesels like preferential fuel taxes, fuel economy standards and greenhouse gas emission standards can produce higher emissions of diesel particulate matter if diesel particulate filters or equivalent emission control technology is not in place. This can undermine the expected climate benefits of dieselization and increase impacts on public health. This paper takes a historical look at Europe to illustrate the degree to which dieselization and lax controls on particulate matter can undermine the potential benefits sought from diesel vehicles. We show that countries on the dieselization pathway can fully capture the value of diesels with the adoption of tailpipe emission standards equivalent to Euro 6 or Tier 2 for passenger cars, and fuel quality standards that limit the sulfur content of diesel fuel to no greater than 15 ppm. Adoption of these policies before or in parallel with adoption of fuel consumption and greenhouse gas standards can avert the negative impacts of dieselization. 相似文献

In order to provide additional design data on candidate alternative fuels, a broad comparison is made of the net calorific values of a wide variety of gaseous, liquid and solid fuels, including a number of alternatives of current interest, against a background of conventional fuels, some of which may have alternative applications.In general, higher gravimetric calorific values are shown by the lighter of the gaseous and liquid fuels and the heavier of the solid fuels. Volumetric calorific values rise with fuel density, with the exception of the fuel gases. Despite a wide overall range in calorific values, the gravimetric energy content of a stoichiometric fuel-air mixture is seen to be virtually independent of fuel type. In such applications as the spark-ignition piston engine and the rocket, additional combustion parameters arise which tend to overshadow calorific value and are therefore adopted for performance assessment. 相似文献

为了节约能源,减少环境污染,欧美国家已将燃气、燃油锅炉的排烟温度降至100℃左右。而我国的燃气、燃油锅炉的排烟温度还在200℃~300℃左右。燃气、燃油锅炉的热损失主要是烟气物理显热和燃料高位发热值与低位发热值之差值。烟气中水蒸汽结露部分汽化热的回收利用,有可能使燃料低位发热值提高。在锅炉管理中,陈旧观念和落后技术将锅炉烟气低温结露视为忌讳,致使我国燃气、燃油锅炉的节能水平滞后于欧美国家。害怕锅炉低温结露的症结是烟道的腐蚀,现有技术对于烟道的防腐已非常容易解决。燃气、燃油锅炉凝结式节能器的设计应用已在上海收到了极好的节能效果,现已逐步推广并总结和积累了初步经验。 相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the fuel characteristics (calorific value and fuel value index) of 10 fast-growing species in plantations in Costa Rica. The effect of the chemical properties, extractives and moisture content were evaluated. The results revealed that the gross calorific value varied from 16.5 to 20.6 MJ kg−1 for sapwood, and from 16.3 to 20.1 MJ kg−1 for heartwood. No consistency was observed with regard to which type of wood (sapwood or heartwood) had the highest gross calorific value. Large variations among the species were observed in the case of the fuel value index. For heartwood, the slope gradient of linear correlation was affected by lignin and extractives in sodium hydroxide and dichloromethane solution, whereas in the case of sapwood, only ashes content affected significantly to calorific value. For chemical parameters or the amount of extractives, carbon, nitrogen and lignin contents, ashes and extracts in dichloromethane influenced significantly the calorific value of heartwood. The calorific value in sapwood was affected by the amount of extractives in ethanol–toluene and the amount of ashes. Finally, the fuel value index was affected by the quantity of carbon, the extractives in sodium hydroxide and dichloromethane. 相似文献
