A transformation called current-mode linear transformation (CMLT) and its filter applications using multiple output second-generation current conveyors (MOCCIIs) are presented. The systematic method is developed to realize CMLT MOCCII-based filters efficiently. Based on the proposed design tables, we can synthesize high-order current-mode all-pole and elliptic filters with MOCCIIs, grounded resistors and capacitors. Moreover, the high-frequency elliptic filter can also be efficiently realized by adding capacitors to the relative all-pole filter, although floating capacitors are needed. Third-order Chebychev and elliptic lowpass filters are described in this paper. Experimental results that confirm the theoretical analysis are obtained. Furthermore, the proposed circuits can be extended to higher-order filters. 相似文献

In this paper we present a new current‐mode electronically tunable universal filter using only plus‐type current controlled conveyors (CCCII+s) and grounded capacitors. The proposed circuit can simultaneously realize lowpass, bandpass, and highpass filter functions—all at high impedance outputs. The realization of a notch response does not require additional active elements. The circuit enjoys an independent current control of parameters ω0 and ω0 / Q. A novel configuration for realizing voltage/current-mode (VM/CM) universal filter using a single four terminal floating nullor
(FTFN), a single current feedback amplifier (CFA), two capacitors and three resistors is presented. The VM configuration has
three inputs and a single output and implements all the five generic filtering functions through the selection of inputs.
This topology enjoys cascadability and does not require any additional active element for facilitating the filter realizations.
The same circuit in current-mode has a single input and four outputs and realizes LP, HP and two BP responses simultaneously from which AP and Notch can also be realized. This topology uses grounded resistors and capacitors which are ideal for monolithic integration.
Both the topologies enjoy orthogonal control of natural frequency (ω0) and quality factor (Q) by the grounded resistors. The topologies enjoy low active and passive sensitivity figures. Experimental and PSPICE simulation

In this paper, a CMOS realization of the current differencing transconductance amplifier (CDTA) is given, which is a newly reported active building block for current-mode signal processing. Current differencing stage of the CDTA element is realized using a differential current-controlled current source and in the output stage, floating current sources are used to convert intermediate voltage of z terminal to output currents. Due to the compactness of the circuit, it is capable of high-frequency operation and suitable for video signal-processing applications. The CDTA element is used in a current-mode anti-aliasing video filter, which is designed using operational simulation of a seventh-order passive elliptic filter, so the resulting active filter has the low sensitivity feature of its passive counterpart. The filter has 0.1 dB maximum pass band ripple as imposed by ITU video anti-aliasing filter standard. SPICE-simulation results of both the CDTA element and the seventh-order elliptic filter are given. Simulation results are found in close agreement with theoretical results. 相似文献

In this paper, voltage-mode second order high-Q band pass filters and oscillators which employ only single current differencing buffered amplifier (CDBA) as the active component are proposed. One of the four filter circuits and two of the four oscillators described have minimum passive component count properties, without using the internal pole of the active element. These BP filters can be easily cascaded without any recourse to impedance matching circuitry. The circuits have been analysed theoretically, simulated and experimentally tested in a laboratory. It is shown that the results of simulations and experimental work are in agreement with theoretical predictions. 相似文献

A family of gm-C biquad structures is derived. These biquads require only a pair of grounded capacitors and three transconductors. It is shown that a pair of complex zeros can be realized simply by replicating the output stage of the transconductance block, thereby constructing a second output current that is proportional to the original output current. Although these biquad structures are very compact, they allow independent programming of the filter's center frequency andQ . The realisation criteria of continuous-time current-mode (CM) active filters for low frequency operation are investigated. New lossless and lossy integrators for low frequency operation using dual-output current conveyors (DO-CCII) are proposed. Basing on these building blocks, a CM universal filter with low natural frequencies suitable for integrated circuit implementation is presented. Using the proposed filter, natural frequencies as low as a few ten hertz can be achieved on an integrated circuit chip without using any external passive components. The proposed circuit simultaneously produces three basic filter responses at its high impedance outputs and it has good passive and active sensitivity performance. 相似文献

Stack filters belong to the class of non-linear filters and include the well-known median filter, weighted median filters, order statistic filters and weighted order statistic filters. Any stack filter can be implemented by using the parallel threshold decomposition architecture which allows implementing their non-linear processing by means of a collection of identical binary filters (Boolean logic circuits). Although it is conceptually simple and useful to study the filter properties, this architecture is not practical for direct hardware implementation because as many as (M – 1) binary filters are required for a M-valued input signal and M is large in many applications.In this paper we introduce a new parallel architecture for stack filter implementations. The complexity is now proportional to the window width L of the filter, instead of to M. In most applications L is much smaller than M which translates into efficient hardware implementations. The attractive characteristic of ease of design exhibited by the threshold decomposition architecture is kept. In fact, for a given stack filter both in the conventional implementation and in the proposed one, the same binary filter is required. The key concept supporting the new architecture is a modified decomposition scheme which generates L binary signals for a multi-valued input. As an application example, a complex WOS filter is designed and prototyped in an FPGA. 相似文献

In active filters, the performance of the active element plays an important role in the overall performance of the filter, besides the filter configuration itself. In this paper, we will investigate the effects of current conveyor non-idealities on a certain class of filters which consists of four current conveyors and seven nodes, and derive analytical expressions for the filter parameter deviations in terms of non-ideality terms. The results obtained apply to all filters under this class which are considerable in number. This will enable us to determine the requirements for the current conveyor non-ideality terms in order to obtain a specified filter performance. A comparable demonstration of the filter transfer functions for two example current conveyor circuits will be given. Simulations including three types of filters, namely, the bandpass, lowpass and highpass filters, confirm the analytical expressions obtained. 相似文献

Two configurations for 2nd order current-mode filters are introduced. The circuits, which exhibit low values for their active and passive sensitivies are implemented from two current conveyors. They are easily cascadable because they exhibit zero input impedance. Two voltage-mode implementations are then deduced from them. Depending on the passive components used, the circuit will be either a 2nd order or a 3rd order filter. Both the current-mode and voltage-mode implementations are characterized by easily modifiable transfer functions, without affecting 0 and Q.SPICE simulation results, which confirm the theoretical analysis, are given and discussed for current conveyors implemented in a translinear form. 相似文献

Novel topologies of fractional-order filters, implemented using the internal gate-source capacitance of MOS transistors, are introduced in this paper. This has been achieved using current-mirrors as active elements, resulting into resistorless realizations due to the employment of the small-signal transconductance parameter of the MOS transistor. This also offers the capability for electronic tuning of the frequency characteristics of the derived filter structures. The evaluation of the proposed technique has been performed through the design of a generalized fractional-order filter, which is also digitally programmed in such way that the four standard filter functions are offered. The behavior of the filter has been evaluated using the Cadence IC design suite and the Design Kit provided by the Austrian Micro Systems 0.35 μm CMOS process. 相似文献

A new universal current-mode (CM) biquad filter is presented which can realise all the five standard filter functions namely lowpass, bandpass, highpass, notch and allpass employing only unity-gain current followers (CF) as active elements. The workability of the proposed universal biquad, realised with CMOS unity-gain current followers, is established by SPICE simulations.
