A differentially-fed single aperture is used to excite an unsymmetrical antenna contactlessly. The current maximum below the aperture is generated by an odd-mode signal, rather than an open-circuit stub. Simulated and measured 0.9 GHz results, with a planar inverted F antenna, suggest potential applications in mobile communication systems.  相似文献

Dual-band planar inverted F antenna for GSM/DCS mobile phones   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
A compact dual-band planar inverted F antenna suitable for the application as a global system for mobile communication/digital communication system (GSM/DCS) dual-band mobile phone internal antenna is proposed and implemented. The proposed antenna has three resonant elements, two meandered metallic strips of slightly different lengths and one nearly-rectangular patch, which are printed on a supporting FR4 substrate and arranged in a compact configuration. These three resonant elements share a common shorting pin, and for the GSM (890-960 MHz) operation, the proposed antenna is operated with the two meandered strips both resonated as a quarter-wavelength structure, leading to a wide bandwidth formed by two resonant modes. For the upper band of the proposed antenna, three resonant modes are generated, two from the second higher-order modes of the two meandered strips and one from the nearly-rectangular patch, leading to a wide bandwidth covering the DCS band (1710-1880 MHz). Two novel triple band planar inverted F antennas (PIFAs) are presented. The first antenna is realised by housing a dual frequency L-shaped spur line loaded PIFA element within the lower resonance PIFA element. The second antenna is realised by embedding two single element PIFAs within a quarter-wave patch. A new antenna combining the use of a ring dielectric resonator (DR) and an inverted F antenna (IFA) is proposed and investigated experimentally. In this application, the DR not only fills the role of a dielectric coating, but also serves the function of a radiator. The measurements of input impedance, return loss, and radiation pattern for both the IFA with the DR (IFA-DR) and the wire IFA (WIFA) are conducted at the S band. The measured data demonstrate that the IFA-DR operates in multiple resonance modes unlike a WIFA. Compared with the WIFA, the one proposed here incorporating a ring DR and an IFA is more attractive in having a smaller size and a larger impedance bandwidth  相似文献

This letter addresses the integration of a 24-GHz inverted-F antenna on a low resistivity silicon substrate, using micromachining post-processing techniques compatible with commercial Si/SiGe active device processes. By suspending the radiator on a 2.4mm/sup 2/ large polymer membrane an on-chip antenna with -0.7 dBi gain has been realized.  相似文献

A dual-band antenna design that covers the 2.26-2.54 GHz and 5.14-6.10 GHz bands is presented. The proposed antenna design consists of two patch radiators suspended above a ground plane. The performance in the lower and upper bands can be controlled with less mutual coupling effect. Cellular telephone handsets are now being designed to have dual-mode capabilities. In particular, there is a requirement for internal antennas for GSM and DCS1800 systems. This paper describes a novel planar dual-band inverted-F antenna for cellular handsets, which operates at the 0.9-GHz and 1.8-GHz bands. The dual-band antenna has almost the same size as a conventional inverted-F antenna operating at 0.9 GHz and has an isolation between bands of better than 17 dB. The bandwidths of the antenna are close to those required for the above systems. Good dual-band action is also obtained for other frequency ratios in the range of 1.3-2.4. Studies also show that the dual-band antenna can operate with one or two feeds. A finite-difference time-domain analysis has been shown to give calculated results close to those measured  相似文献

A planar log-periodic antenna structure that has radiation characteristics similar to those of a half-wave dipole has been found. The bandwidth can be as large as desired, and antennas can be easily fabricated by using printed circuit techniques. When fed with a suitable balun, VSWR's lower than 1.8:1 can be obtained over a wide-frequency band.  相似文献

Cellular telephone handsets are now being designed to have dual-mode capabilities. In particular, GSM and DCS1800 modes are used in Europe. And PCS and AMPS modes are used in the USA. A novel planar dualband internal antenna for handsets which operates in the ~0.9 and 1.8 GHz bands is proposed. The dualband antenna has almost the same size as a conventional internal antenna operating in the 0.9 GHz band. A planar grating-reflector antenna with frequency-scanning properties is presented. The antenna system is composed of a point feed and a planar reflector consisting of a frequency-scanned reflection grating. The grating geometry must be selected such that the first higher-order diffracted wave propagates and serves as the frequency-scanned beam. A focus feed position for the diffracted field is obtained by allowing the lattice geometry to vary along the reflector surface. Methods for analyzing and designing the new antenna configuration are presented. The antenna concept is demonstrated theoretically and experimentally by the design, evaluation, and test of an experimental antenna operating over the frequency band 9.5-10.5 GHz  相似文献

When a shorting pin is added to the planar monopole antenna, an additional mode is excited below the fundamental mode. By optimising the dimensions. A compact wideband antenna can be constructed. The size reduction achievable for this antenna is ~50% compared with an equivalent planar monopole without a shorting pin. Owing to its compact size and wideband performance, this antenna is suitable for use in existing and future mobile communication terminals  相似文献

In recent years, mobile satellite communications have been growing rapidly. Monopulse tracking operations for beam pointing to the satellite are often employed for those systems which, in general, require rather severe EIRP and G/T specifications. Thus, the development of a monopulse antenna with a good antenna efficiency is of great interest. A radial line planar monopulse antenna is proposed. An analysis of the probes in a radial line has been carried out which gives an understanding of why the monopulse patterns can be synthesized, and a simple and effective theory is presented about a realization of uniform-aperture field distribution. The antenna has been fabricated and the radiation characteristics have been measured which supports the theory as well as verifies the capability of the antenna for the monopulse tracking operation  相似文献

A novel broadband planar antenna based on the classic Yagi-Uda dipole array is presented. This "quasi-Yagi" antenna achieves a measured 48% bandwidth for VSWR <2, better than 12 dB front-to-back ratio, smaller than -15 dB cross polarization, 3-5 dB absolute gain and a nominal efficiency of 93% across the operating bandwidth. Finite-difference time-domain simulation is used for optimization of the antenna and the results agree very well with measurements. Additionally, a gain-enhanced design is presented, where higher gain has been achieved at the cost of reduced bandwidth. These quasi-Yagi antennas are realized on a high dielectric constant substrate and are completely compatible with microstrip circuitry and solid-state devices. The excellent radiation properties of this antenna make it ideal as either a stand-alone antenna with a broad pattern or as an array element. The antenna should find wide applications in wireless communication systems, power combining, phased arrays and active arrays, as well as millimeter-wave imaging arrays.  相似文献
