The synergistic inhibition effect of rare earth cerium(IV) ion and 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehye (DHBA) on corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in H2SO4 solution was first investigated by weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization methods. Effects of inhibitor concentration, temperature, immersion time and acid concentration on synergism are discussed in detail. The results reveal that DHBA has moderate inhibitive effect and its adsorption obeys Temkin adsorption isotherm. For the cerium(IV) ion, it has negligible effect. However, incorporation of Ce4+ with DHBA improves the inhibition performance significantly, and produces strong synergistic inhibition effect.  相似文献

The inhibition effect of 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in 1.0-7.0 M H2SO4 at 25-50 °C was studied by weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization methods. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and atomic force microscope (AFM) were used to characterize the CRS surface. The results showed that BAP was a good inhibitor in 1.0 M H2SO4, and the adsorption of BAP obeyed the Temkin adsorption isotherm. Polarization curves showed that BAP acted as a mixed-type inhibitor in sulfuric acid. Depending on the results, the inhibitive mechanism was proposed.  相似文献

The results show that BAP has a moderate inhibitive effect. However, incorporation of BAP with I improves the inhibition performance significantly. The adsorption of BAP in the absence and presence of I obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm. BAP and BAP/I mixture act as mixed-type inhibitors. A probable synergism mechanism is proposed.  相似文献

The results reveal that SO has a moderate inhibitive effect and its adsorption obeys Temkin adsorption isotherm. Ce4+ has a poor effect. However, incorporation of Ce4+ with SO improves the inhibition performance significantly, and exhibits synergistic inhibition effect. SO acts as a cathodic inhibitor, while SO/Ce4+ mixture acts as a mixed-type inhibitor.  相似文献

The synergism between red tetrazolium (RT) and uracil (Ur) on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in H2SO4 solution is first investigated by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization, and atomic force microscope (AFM). Effects of inhibitor concentration (25-500 mg l−1), temperature (20-50 °C), and acid concentration (1.0-5.0 M) on synergism are discussed systematically. The results reveal that RT has a moderate inhibitive effect, and its adsorption obeys the Freundlich adsorption isotherm. For Ur, it has a poor effect. However, incorporation of RT with Ur significantly improves the inhibition performance, and produces synergistic inhibition effect.  相似文献

The results revealed that vanillin had a moderate inhibitive effect, and the adsorption of vanillin obeyed the Temkin adsorption isotherm. For rare earth Ce4+, it had a negligible effect. However, incorporation of Ce4+ with vanillin significantly improved the inhibition performance, and produced strong synergistic inhibition effect. The inhibition effect of three pyrazine derivatives of 2-methylpyrazine (MP), 2-aminopyrazine (AP) and 2-amino-5-bromopyrazine (ABP) on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in 1.0 M H2SO4 solution was studied by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The results show that all pyrazine compounds are good inhibitors, and inhibition efficiency follows the order: ABP > AP > MP. The adsorption of each inhibitor on CRS surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm. For all these pyrazine derivatives, they act as mixed-type inhibitors. The probable inhibitive mechanism is proposed from the viewpoint of adsorption theory.  相似文献

The inhibition effect of Tween-20 as a nonionic surfactant on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in 1.0-8.0 M HCl has been studied at different temperatures (20-50 °C) by weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization methods. Atomic force microscope (AFM) provided the CRS surface conditions. The results show that Tween-20 is a good inhibitor in 1.0 M HCl, and the inhibition efficiency (IE) increases with the inhibitor concentration, while decreases with increasing the hydrochloric acid concentration and temperature. Effect of immersion time was also studied and discussed. The adsorption of inhibitor on the CRS surface obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm equation. Both thermodynamic and kinetic parameters have been obtained by adsorption theory and kinetic equations. The inhibition effect is satisfactorily explained by the parameters. Polarization curves show that Tween-20 is a mixed-type inhibitor in hydrochloric acid. The results obtained from weight loss and polarization are in good agreement, and Tween-20 inhibition action could also be evidenced by surface AFM images.  相似文献

The synergistic effect of iodide ions and benzisothiozole-3-piperizine hydrochloride (BITP) on corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution has been studied by both chemical and electrochemical methods. The corrosion performance of BITP in 1.0 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 media was examined and compared. The adsorption of BITP and its combination with iodide ions on mild steel surface followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm via chemisorption mechanism. The calculated values of synergism parameter (Sθ) were found to be greater than unity. This result clearly showed the existence of synergism between iodide ions and BITP molecules.  相似文献

Corrosion inhibition of copper in O2-saturated 0.50 M H2SO4 solutions by four selected amino acids, namely glycine (Gly), alanine (Ala), valine (Val), or tyrosine (Tyr), was studied using Tafel polarization, linear polarization, impedance, and electrochemical frequency modulation (EFM) at 30 °C. Protection efficiencies of almost 98% and 91% were obtained with 50 mM Tyr and Gly, respectively. On the other hand, Ala and Val reached only about 75%. Corrosion rates determined by the Tafel extrapolation method were in good agreement with those obtained by EFM and an independent chemical (i.e., non-electrochemical) method. The chemical method of confirmation of the corrosion rates involved determination of the dissolved Cu2+, using ICP-AES (inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry) method of chemical analysis. Nyquist plots exhibited a high frequency depressed semicircle followed by a straight line portion (Warburg diffusion tail) in the low-frequency region. The impedance data were interpreted according to two suitable equivalent circuits. The kinetics of dissolved O2 reduction and hydrogen evolution reactions on copper surface were also studied in O2-saturated 0.50 M H2SO4 solutions using polarization measurements combined with the rotating disc electrode (RDE). The Koutecky-Levich plot indicated that the dissolved O2 reduction at the copper electrode was an apparent 4-electron process.  相似文献

Sodium tungstate (Na2WO4) as a corrosion inhibitor of cold rolled steel (CRS) in peracetic acid (PAA) solution was investigated by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). All the data obtained from the experiments indicate that Na2WO4 is capable of inhibiting the corrosion of CRS in PAA solution. Polarization data show that Na2WO4 behaves as an anodic type inhibitor in PAA solution. Adsorption of Na2WO4 is found to follow the Temkin adsorption isotherm. The calculated free energy of adsorption (ΔGads) probably indicates that both physical adsorption and chemical adsorption may take place in the adsorption process.  相似文献

Inhibition of the copper corrosion by means of indole-3-carboxylic acid (ICA), was studied in 0.5 M H2SO4 solutions in the temperature range from 25 °C to 55 °C using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The results obtained from the both measurement techniques revealed good inhibitor efficiency in the studied concentration range. Nyquist plots showed depressed semicircles with their centre below real axis. Moreover, the impedance spectra in the case of both non inhibited solutions and inhibited ones by means of lower inhibitor concentrations exhibited Warburg impedance. The adsorption behaviour of ICA followed Langmuir’s isotherm.  相似文献

The inhibition behaviour of 2-undecyl-1-ethylamino-1-methylbenzyl quaternary imidazoline (2UMQI) and KI on mild steel in 1.0 M H2SO4 solutions was investigated at 25 °C using electrochemical methods. The results indicated that 2UMQI inhibited the corrosion of mild steel and the extent of inhibition increased with 2UMQI concentrations. The inhibition action in the presence of 2UMQI is due to physical adsorption of 2UMQI. A mixed-inhibition mechanism is proposed for the inhibitive effects of 2UMQI. Inhibition efficiency of 2UMQI was enhanced by the addition of iodide ions. In the presence of KI, the potentials of unpolarization, Eu was observed and increased with KI concentration.  相似文献

A newly synthesized glycine derivative (GlyD1), 2-(4-(dimethylamino)benzylamino)acetic acid hydrochloride, was used to control mild steel corrosion in 4.0 M H2SO4 solutions at different temperatures (278–338 K). Tafel extrapolation, linear polarization resistance (LPR) and impedance methods were used to test corrosion inhibitor efficiency. An independent method of chemical analysis, namely ICP-AES (inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry) was also used to test validity of corrosion rate measured by Tafel extrapolation method. Results obtained were compared with an available glycine derivative (GlyD2) and glycine (Gly). Tafel polarization measurements revealed that the three tested inhibitors function as mixed-type compounds. The inhibition efficiency increased with increase in inhibitor concentration and decreased with temperature, suggesting the occurrence of physical adsorption. The adsorptive behaviour of the three inhibitors followed Temkin-type isotherm and the standard free energy changes of adsorption () were evaluated for the three tested inhibitors as a function of temperature. The inhibition performance of GlyD1 was much better than those of GlyD2 and Gly itself. Results obtained from the different corrosion evaluation techniques were in good agreement.  相似文献

The corrosion inhibitive efficiencies of two crown type polyethers, namely dibenzo-bis-imino crown ether (C-1) and dibenzo-diaza crown ether (C-2), which are macrocyclic Schiff base and its reduced form (macrocyclic amine), respectively, for the steel in 1 M H2SO4 have been investigated by Tafel extrapolation and linear polarization methods. Corrosion and adsorption isotherm parameters were determined from current-potential curves. The studies show that C-1 and C-2 inhibit the corrosion of the steel in H2SO4 solution. Semiempirical AM1 method was used for theoretical calculations. The obtained results of these calculations for the compounds were found to be consistent with the experimental findings.  相似文献

Acoustic emission (AE) behaviour during the electrochemical corrosion of 304 stainless steel (304SS) in H2SO4 solutions was studied. AE signals which related to transpassive dissolution are detected in solutions with low pH, and are very slightly influenced by current density and pre-strain. During hydrogen bubble evolution, a weak correlation exists between the AE signal amplitude and the hydrogen bubble diameter. The concept of potential – pH – AE diagram is proposed and such a diagram is drawn based on AE activity and b-values. The main mechanisms of AE sources which are transpassive dissolution and hydrogen bubble evolution, are also discussed.  相似文献
