Award for Distinguished Contributions to the International Advancement of Psychology: Juris G. Draguns.

Juris G. Draguns received the 2001 Award for Distinguished Contributions to the International Advancement of Psychology. He was given this award for his pioneering of academic and professional contacts and research in psychology across multiple national boundaries and difficult language barriers. He has authored and co-authored 130 publications on microgenesis, cognitive style, models of psychopathology, and culture and psychology. He has worked with and inspired colleagues worldwide. Award for Distinguished Contributions to the International Advancement of Psychology.

Presents a citation for Juris G. Distinguished Contribution for Applications in Psychology Award for 1973: Conrad Kraft.

Announces that the first recipient of the Distinguished Contribution for Applications in Psychology Award is Conrad Kraft. He received this award for his program of research, in particular his work in aircraft night visual landing approaches. He was presented with a citation of his formal contribution to the application of psychology and also with a check for $1,000. APA established this award in order to honor individuals who have pursued a systematic program of research that has had an applied impact. Award for Distinguished Contributions to Research in Public Policy: Susan D. Cochran.

Susan D. Cochran received the 2001 Award for Distinguished Contributions to Research in Public Policy. She was given this award for her research and writing on the psychosocial variables that affect the mental and physical health of stigmatized and ethnic minority populations. Her scholarly research and writing have been utilized to change guidelines for HIV prevention, helping elucidate factors for successful national HIV campaigns. Her work has consistently sought to focus both psychology and public health on the physical and mental health concerns of vulnerable populations. This award is given to a psychologist whose research has led to important discoveries or developments in the field of applied psychology. In previous years, this award was called the Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to Knowledge. The name was changed in 2003 to better describe this award. The award winners from 1979-2005 are listed. This document includes the citation given to Gail S. Distinguished practice of psychology award.

The APF Distinguished Practice of Psychology Award is a special 1994 award that recognizes an outstanding career contribution to the practice of psychology. Ronald E. Fox is the 1994 recipient of this award, which carries with it a plaque, $2,000, and an all-expense-paid trip for two to the APA annual convention. Awards for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest: 1980.

The Award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest is presented to a person (or persons) who has advanced psychology as a science and/or profession by distinguished contributions in such areas as the identification or solution of significant social problems; unusual initiative or dedication, in activity that makes psychology more accessible in meeting client and/or community needs; and the integration of psychology with social action. This year awards were presented to Isidor Chein and Nicholas Hobbs at the APA convention in Montreal. Chein and Hobbs each received a check for $1,000 and an engrossed citation detailing their contributions. A citation and brief biography is presented for each award recipient.
