Wireless multi-carrier communication systems that use packet schedulers based on channel knowledge have been proved their performance. Proportional fairness scheduling (PFS), if used in these systems, promises an attractive trade-off between fairness among users and system throughput. In this paper, an analytical solution is presented for the PFS throughput. Then, a simple scheme is presented to reduce the feedback signaling of the PFS without a significant loss in performance. This reduced complexity PFS attempts to meet a trade-off between multi-user diversity gain, fairness among users and low rate feedback signaling. As shown by simulations, for a large number of users compared to the number of sub-channels, this scheme kept fairness among users while minimizing the feedback signaling.  相似文献

优化分配有限的无线资源以提高系统容量,同时为不同用户的不同业务提供服务质量保障,是未来无线通信的关键问题之一.传统的比例公平(PF)算法是系统吞吐量与公平性的折中,没有考虑用户的QoS需求.对传统的PF算法作一些改进,根据用户的目标速率设置不同的加权值.根据时延设置不同的历史平均窗长,以提供一定的QoS保证;并分析了该算法在多天线多载波系统下行链路中的性能.仿真结果表明改进的PF算法能根据用户需求提供QoS保证,同时获得多用户分集增益.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a cognitive radio based multi-user resource allocation framework for mobile ad hoc networks using multi-carrier DS CDMA modulation over a frequency-selective fading channel. In particular, given preexisting communications in the spectrum where the system is operating, in addition to potential narrow-band interference, a channel sensing and estimation mechanism is provided to obtain information such as subcarrier availability, noise power and channel gain. Given this information, both frequency spectrum and power are allocated to emerging new users (i.e., cognitive radio users), based on a distributed multi-user resource allocation framework, in order to satisfy a target data rate and a power constraint of each cognitive radio user, while attempting to avoid interference to the existing communications as well as to minimize total power consumption of the cognitive radio users.  相似文献

It is well known that high multi-user and multi-carrier diversity gains can be achieved via the use of DCA (Dynamic Channel Allocation). However, there is no framework for analyzing the system performance of DCA algorithms over multi-cell environments. This paper presents a numerical analysis for measuring the performance gain for various DCA algorithms. Based on the analysis, an LQE (Location-based QoS Enhanced) DCA algorithm is proposed, in which a higher priority is assigned to users in the outer region for fairness by exploiting multi-carrier diversity. In the inner region, each carrier is allocated to a user with the best channel gain for higher throughput by exploiting multi-user diversity. In the simulation, we demonstrate that the proposed DCA algorithm is very effective from the perspective of fairness and throughput.  相似文献

In this letter, a joint transmit scheduling and dynamic sub-carrier and power allocation method is proposed to exploit multi-user diversity in downlink packet transmission in an OFDM wireless network with mixed real-time and non-real-time traffic patterns. To balance efficiency and fairness and to satisfy the QoS requirements of real-time users, we utilize a utility-based framework and propose a polynomial-time heuristic algorithm to solve the formulated optimization problem. The distinguishing feature of the proposed method is that it gives in one shot, the transmission scheduling, the sub-carriers assigned to each user, and the power allocated to each sub-carrier, based on a fair and efficient framework while satisfying the delay requirements of real-time users.  相似文献

Multiple antennas play an important role in improving radio communications. In view of this role, the area of multiple antenna communication systems is in the forefront of wireless research. This article reviews two key related aspects of multiple antenna communication systems: multiple access interference mitigation at the receiver via multi-user beamforming; and space-time modulation and coding for MIMO systems. It is shown that both multi-user and MIMO receivers share similar signal processing and complexity tradeoffs.. Following that, a general unified framework for assessing different types of space-time modulation for MIMO systems is introduced. These space-time modulation methods are then compared in terms of Shannon capacity over multipath channels. Key MIMO system performance and implementation issues are also highlighted.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the problem of downlink precoding for the narrowband massive multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) system with low-resolution digital-to-analog converters (DACs). We introduce a low-complexity precoding scheme based on the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) framework in this work. An efficient gradient descent (GD) algorithm with adaptive step-size determination mechanism (ASGD) is proposed to alleviate the computational complexity bottleneck of the inherent matrix inversion. Numerical results demonstrate that the ASGD precoder achieves an attractive trade-off between the performance and computational complexity compared with other counterparts.

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication techniques have been an important area of focus for next-generation wireless systems because of their potential for high capacity, increased diversity, and interference suppression. For applications such as wireless LANs and cellular telephony, MIMO systems will likely be deployed in environments where a single base must communicate with many users simultaneously. As a result, the study of multi-user MIMO systems has emerged recently as an important research topic. Such systems have the potential to combine the high capacity achievable with MIMO processing with the benefits of space-division multiple access. In this article we review several algorithms that have been proposed with this goal in mind. We describe two classes of solutions. The first uses a signal processing approach with various types of transmitter beamforming. The second uses "dirty paper" coding to overcome the interference a user sees from signals intended for other users. We conclude by describing future areas of research in multi-user MIMO communications.  相似文献

In this paper a multi-user communication system based on ultra-wide band (UWB) technology is studied. UWB uses very short pulses, so that the spectrum of the emitted signals may spread over several GHz. In order to implement multi-user communication, the emitted signal must be modulated. One modulation scheme for UWB communications is to use analog waveforms to modulate the data. In this study, orthogonal waveforms called modified Gegenbauer functions are introduced as basis functions for the pulse shape and compared to the previously proposed modified Hermite functions. It is shown that Gegenbauer functions offer better performance for multi-user UWB communications. Fouzia Elbahhar was born in 1975. She received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Valenciennes (France) in 2000 and 2004, respectively. She is actually employed as Research Asistant at this university. She is especially involved in Ultra Wide Band technology. Her primary interest is in systems dedicated to land transportation for communications, like vehicle to vehicle telecommunication. Atika Rivenq-Menhaj was born in 1970. She received her Diploma of Engineering and the M.S. degree in 1993 and then her Ph.D. degree in 1996, from the University of Valenciennes (France). She actually is Assistant Professor in electronics at this university. Her primary interest is in signal processing applied to intelligent transportation systems and telecommunication systems. Jean-Michel Rouvaen was born in 1947. He received his M.S. degree in 1968 and his Ph.D. degree in 1971, from the University of Valenciennes (France). He is now Professor of electronics at ENSIAME, an engineering school of university of Valenciennes. Recently, Multi-User Selection Diversity (MUSDiv) for single-carrier systems has been under extensive study on account of the enhancement it provides to system performance with minimum feedback requirements. However, its application to multichannel systems is considered straightforward and thus, it has not been thoroughly examined. In this paper, the performance of MUSDiv is investigated when applied to the spread-spectrum multi-carrier multiple-access system, where the scheduling has to be performed for all the available channels and self interference must also be considered. Specifically, based on the absolute and normalized Signal-to-Noise-Ratio (SNR) scheduling algorithms, two algorithms are presented, modified and optimized, so that they can be applied on a subband instead of a single-channel basis. Moreover, we propose a new scheduling scheme which constitutes a trade-off between the previous schemes, concerning fairness and capacity performance. The new algorithms are related to the symbol Signal-to-Noise-plus-Interference-Ratio (SNIR) instead of SNR and two interference models were devised to this end. Closed-form expressions for the system capacity are extracted for each case, which are compared with simulation results. The research is also extended to the case of non-identical user power profiles among the available subcarriers. The channel state information required to utilize multi-user selection diversity is already necessary for the most common combining schemes, so no more feedback is actually needed.  相似文献

This paper designs a down-link resource scheduling algorithm for wireless cellular networks to achieve throughput-delay trade-off. The available bandwidth of the down-link is divided into some parallel sub-channels, and each sub-channel can be allocated to one potential user in every time-slot. This problem is modeled as a multi-user multi-server discrete-time queuing system with a time-varying connectivity. For this system, it is well-known that the classical MaxWeight algorithm has the optimal throughput, but its delay performance is very poor. To overcome this issue, we use the Lyapunov Optimization technique to design a throughput-utility maximizing algorithm that provides a good trade-off between the throughput and delay performance. Our approach is verified by both theoretical analysis and simulation evaluations.  相似文献

We present a new derivation of a lower bound for an aperiodic correlation metric: the integrated sidelobe level (ISL) of a set of sequences under the energy constraint. Sequences (or sequence sets) with low aperiodic correlations are widely demanded in many applications, including radar/sonar range compression, medical imaging, channel estimation and multi-user spread-spectrum communications. While the lower bound has been implicitly discussed in the literature before, here we adopt a different framework to derive the bound. In particular, we make use in the derivation of our recently proposed cyclic algorithm framework, which can also be used to efficiently synthesize unimodular sequences with low correlations. We also show that by relaxing the unimodular constraint, the ISL lower bound can be approached closely.   相似文献

Wireless transmission systems are constrained by several parameters such as the available spectrum bandwidth, mobile battery energy, transmission channel impairments and users’ minimum quality-of-service. In this paper, a new strategy is investigated that aims at improving the allocation of resources in a dual hop OFDMA cooperative network consisting in multi source–destination pairs and multiple decode-and-forward relays. First, the joint optimization of three types of resources: power, sub-channel and relay nodes, is formulated as a problem of subchannel-relay assignment and power allocation, with the objective of minimizing overall transmission power under the bit-error-rate and data rate constraints. However, the optimal solution to the optimization problem is computationally complex to obtain and may be unfair. Assuming knowledge of the instantaneous channel gains for all links in the entire network, an iterative three-step resource allocation algorithm with low complexity is proposed. In order to guarantee the fairness of users, several fairness criteria are also proposed to provide attractive trade-offs between network performance (i.e. overall transmission power, average network lifetime and average outage probability) and fairness to all users. Numerical studies are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm in two practical scenarios. Simulation results show that the proposed allocation algorithm achieves an efficient trade-off between network performance and fairness among users.  相似文献

针对多用户MIMO窃听信道,提出了在未知非法接收者任何信息的前提下,实现可信通信的基于消息块的人为干扰和预编码算法,并且在实现可信通信"可信性"的同时,考虑了"有效性"和"效率"问题。人为干扰仅干扰非法接收者,而不对合法接收者产生任何影响。预编码算法是已有的用于消除多用户干扰的"迫零"方式与基于SVD分解的线性预编码方式的结合。与基于单消息符号的预编码方式相比,提高了可信通信的效率。仿真结果表明,其进一步降低了非法接收者的SINR,并提高了多用户MIMO系统的通信容量。  相似文献

To cope with the increasing demand of multimedia applications, new IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networks devices have been defined such as IEEE 802.11aa and IEEE 802.11ac. The former proposes new intra-access categories (AC) differentiation based on stream classification service (SCS) scheme. The latter standard allows simultaneous downlink transmissions thanks to downlink multi-user MIMO technology and sharing transmission opportunity (TXOP) period scheme. In this paper, we focus on the basis of this technique and the behavior of the access point (AP) to manage the multi-user access. Then, we propose a hybrid access mechanism entitled multi-user multi-cast access mechanism (MUMAM) that supports downlink multi-user transmissions while considering intra-AC differentiation. MUMAN considers SCS scheme to prioritize between multicast and unicast flows of an AC and follows transmissions based on IEEE 802.11ac TXOP sharing technique. Extensive simulation and analysis show that MUMAM has a significant positive impact on delay and throughput performance of different AC(s).  相似文献

We present a cross-layer optimized video rate adaptation and user scheduling scheme for multi-user wireless video streaming aiming for maximum quality of service (QoS) for each user,, maximum system video throughput, and QoS fairness among users. These objectives are jointly optimized using a multi-objective optimization (MOO) framework that aims to serve the user with the least remaining playback time, highest delivered video seconds per transmission slot and maximum video quality. Experiments with the IS-856 (1timesEV-DO) standard numerology and ITU pedestrian A and vehicular B environments show significant improvements over the state-of- the-art wireless schedulers in terms of user QoS, QoS fairness, and the system throughput.  相似文献
