The editorial policy of Developmental Psychology is to publish articles that "advance knowledge and theory about human development across the life span." The editor emphasizes two aspects of this policy that I think are particularly important. The first is the focus on theory, and the second is the focus on development. Psychoanalytic Psychology: An argument for change in editorial policy.

In an Editorial Note (Psychoanalytic Psychology, 1989) the Editorial Board of Psychoanalytic Psychology invites comment on its proposal for an occasional section devoted to reports of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Editorial announcement.

The new editor of Health Psychology, Neil Schneiderman, acknowledges the contributions of George C. Stone, the founding editor of the journal, and discusses his own plans for seeing that the maturation of Health Psychology continues. The journal's emphasis will be upon strong, empirical research contributions, but space will also be allocated to other aspects of scholarship that appeal to a sophisticated readership. School Psychology Quarterly: A vision for the future from the new editor.

It is both a great honor and an exciting professional challenge to take on the responsibility of Editor for School Psychology Quarterly. My motivations for serving in this capacity stem from my fundamental belief that high-quality scholarship is essential to the health and vigor of school psychology. The mission I envision for the Quarterly is to be out in front of our field breaking new scientific, intellectual, and professional ground for the future, helping school psychology to "be all that it can be." At the macro-level, I have two clear objectives. First, I want to build on the very best accomplishments of my predecessors, Tom Kratochwill and Joe Witt, reinforcing foundational elements crucial to the journal's success. Editor’s and president’s column.

After 10 years as editor of the Consulting Psychology Bulletin cum Consulting Psychology Journal, the time has come to pass the baton to the new editor, Dick Diedrich. This will be my last editor's column. Without getting maudlin, it has been a memorable 10 years for me and, I hope, the journal. Taking over a well-edited divisional newsletter from Paul Lloyd, I shared my vision of creating a journal devoted to consultation with the divisional leadership after several years on the job. Editorial.

This item reports that there will be an important change in editorial policy for this publication which will be put into effect beginning with Volume 63, 1965. This was made possible by action of the Board of Directors and Council of the Association in doubling the number of pages per year for the publication. The editors will welcome methodological articles, including all phases of methodology, whether experimental, analytical, or statistical. Editorial statement of the American Psychologist: II.

Editing a journal that combines professional, scientific, and public policy interests is a strange business, indeed. Although this January 1987 issue of the American Psychologist (AP) begins the second year of my editorship, it is the first issue that actually reflects my editorial input and that of my associate editors. This state of affairs results from both the usual 9- to 10-month publication lag and the normal transition process between two editorial terms. It seems worthwhile to use my "first" issue as an opportunity to comment on the editorial direction of the journal, about the editorial process itself (and some changes we have made in it), and about some specific modifications in format that you will see in coming issues. Comment policy.

Commentary on articles published in the journal makes a scientific contribution when it (a) brings to light critical controversies, (b) identifies important misconceptions or errors of inference, and/or (c) clarifies the implications of findings. Decisions about whether to publish occasional commentaries in the Journal of Applied Psychology have been guided more by tradition than by an explicit editorial policy. With the encouragement of the APA Publications and Communications Board, I have formulated a comment policy for the journal.
