We appreciate the interest of Clearfield and Davis in our work on Ti-6A1-4V adherends pretreated using sodium hydroxide anodization. Abstract

The kinetic investigation of photodegradation of the natural organic matter (NOM) in natural lake water was conducted using two low‐pressure mercury lamps of the same nominal power: a) with suprasil quartz envelope emitting at both wavelengths ?254 nm and 185 nm (hereafter VUV); b) with standard quartz envelope emitting only at 254 nm (hereafter UV). In comparison to the UV process, the addition of 185 nm irradiation (VUV process) increased the degradation rate ten‐fold overall at lower and seventeen‐fold at higher Reynolds numbers, respectively. The hydrodynamic characteristics of the photoreactor are of crucial importance for total energy efficiency for VUV processes.  相似文献

Ag/γ-Al2O3 is an effective catalyst for the selective reduction of NOx (SCR) using propylene as a reducing agent. The catalyst performance is greatly influenced by the synthesis procedure. Various methods for synthesis of Ag/γ-Al2O3 are analyzed, and their performance is examined via packed bed reactor experiments in this work. An optimal one-pot synthesis method, single-step sol–gel (SSG) synthesis, is explored systematically. The SSG-synthesized catalyst shows better performance than those prepared via wet impregnation. The influence of synthesis conditions, specifically pH, on the textural and morphological properties of the SSG-synthesized Ag/γ-Al2O3, and therefore the activity for hydrocarbon-based SCR in a packed-bed reactor, are analyzed using experiments and simulations. The optimized catalyst demonstrates excellent performance (90% NOx conversion) for NOx reduction under nominal operating conditions with a wide activity temperature window (300–600°C). The catalyst shows good time-on-stream performance and is effective at higher inlet oxygen concentrations and space velocities. A global kinetic model, which uses synthesis-pH-dependent parameters, is proposed, and its ability to predict the activities of these catalysts is validated.  相似文献

Mn and Cr doped CeSi mixed oxides were used as supports for Co and tested for CO hydrogenation. Co/CeSi was found to be more active and significantly more selective to n-alcohols/olefins. An increasing selectivity to n-alcohols and decreasing selectivity to olefins as a function of time on stream was also observed, suggesting a trade-off between those two products. Addition of Mn led to similar behavior, although at slightly lower conversions. Addition of Cr, however, considerably suppressed n-alcohol formation, while it kept selectivities to olefins within a 20–30 % range over more than 250 h of testing, indicating either higher alcohol dehydration activity, or that the presence of Cr ions lowered the hydrogenating activity of Co. The present work indicates that enhanced contact area between Co and the reducible support is likely a key factor for enhancing selectivity to alcohols.  相似文献
