The spin hydrodynamic equations for superfluid3He-B have been obtained for the case of external, time-dependent fields. On the basis of a microscopic approach, expressions are found for additional terms in equations containing these fields. Considering the linear response of the system to the switching on of external fields, formulas are found for suitable Green's functions (magnetization-magnetization, rotation-rotation, magnetization-rotation, rotation-magnetization). The rotation-rotation Green's function has the 1/q 2 singularity characteristic of superfluid systems. Connections between Green's functions lead to relations among kinetic coefficients v, 1, and 2. It is also shown that there is a conserved quantityQ (B) = div v s (B) that describes sources or magnetic type charges (monopoles) of the superfluid velocity v s (B) . Comparison with the phenomenological approach suggests thatQ (B) is proportional to a pseudoscalar giving the projection of the spin density onto the vector describing the axis of rotation.  相似文献

The coarsening behavior of precipitates with a uniform size distribution and with a bimodal size distribution in a mechanically alloyed ODS Ni-base superalloy were investigated to clarify the effect of elastic interaction energy on the coarsening behavior of precipitates. The coarsening rate decreased with increasing size of precipitates with a uniform size distribution, contrary to the classical LSW theory, and the coarsening behavior of precipitates with a bimodal size distribution exhibited Ostwald ripening in which the larger precipitates grow at the expense of smaller precipitates. The driving force for coarsening of precipitates was analyzed based on the two-particle model, considering the effect of elastic interaction energy in addition to the effect of interfacial energy. The contribution of elastic interaction energy on the total energy was found to increase with increasing size of precipitates, and the decelerated coarsening of precipitates was attributed to the decrease in the driving force for coarsening with increasing size of precipitates.  相似文献

For fine, acicular skeleton particles of -Fe prepared from -FeOOH, the effect of interparticle interaction on the angular variation ofH c was numerically investigated using a direct expansion scheme of the chain-of-spheres fanning model to an interacting chain system forming an orthorhombic type of regular space lattice. The model theory reveals that only magnetostatic lateral interchain interaction can affect the angular variation ofH c. The results have been used to explain the experimentally observed effects of particle morphology and packing fraction on the angular variation ofH c in systems made from fine acicular particles prepared for audio/video magnetic recording media. It is suggested that a local aggregate of the so-called multiple type, is unavoidably generated in the system.  相似文献

Scaling arguments and renormalization group techniques are used in the Anderson model Hamiltonian for the nonmagnetic limit of a magnetic impurity. The range of validity of the theory is limited toU/ 1, where the electron-electron collisions can already compete strongly with the electron-hole collisions. A parquet approximation is developed; it gives for the static susceptibility in the symmetric case = ()–1 exp (+U/). There are some hints that the exchange force might play a crucial role in the formation of localized magnetic moment. These considerations are consistent with the electron-hole symmetry in the symmetric Anderson model.  相似文献

The thermal conductivity of liquids has been shown in the past to be difficult to predict with a reasonable accuracy, due to the lack of accurate experimental data and reliable prediction schemes. However, data of a high accuracy, and covering wide density ranges, obtained recently in laboratories in Boulder, Lisbon, and London with the transient hot-wire technique, can be used to revise an existing correlation scheme and to develop a new universal predictive technique for the thermal conductivity of liquid normal alkanes. The proposed correlation scheme is constructed on a theoretically based treatment of the van der Waals model of a liquid, which permits the prediction of the density dependence and the thermal conductivity of liquid n-alkanes, methane to tridecane, for temperatures between 110 and 370 K and pressures up to 0.6 MPa, i.e., for 0.3T/T c0.7 and 2.4P/P c3.7, with an accuracy of ±1%, given a known value of the thermal conductivity of the fluid at the desired temperature. A generalization of the hard-core volumes obtained, as a function of the number of carbon atoms, showed that it was possible to predict the thermal conductivity of pentane to tetradecane±2%, without the necessity of available experimental measurements.  相似文献

We present a new insight in the response of a CW NMR spectrometer for highly magnetized samples above 100 MHz. The spectrometer is a bridge made of a magic T. The output of the bridge is proportional to the reflection coefficient, , of a resonant circuit, which is built with a coil containing the sample. The sensitivity of the reflection coefficient to the complex susceptibility of the sample, () = () – j(), depends on the quality factor, Q, of the circuit and filling factor, . When the condition Q 1 is not fulfilled, we show indeed that the use of a simple crystal detector, which is only sensitive to || gives rise to a strong nonlinear response of the spectrometer. Measurements of the complex value of by means of phase sensitive detection allow to recover a linear behavior. We discuss and illustrate those issues with a few circuits we designed for our measurements on liquid 3 He with spin polarizations up to 15 %. A method is described to build in a reproducible and predictable way resonant circuits matched to 50 in the frequency range 100 – 400 MHz with a quality factor as high as 1000 at 4 K.  相似文献

We measure the Hall angle, H , in YBCO films in the far- and mid-infrared to determine the temperature and frequency dependence of the Hall scattering. Using novel modulation techniques we measure both the Faraday rotation and ellipticity induced by these films in high magnetic fields to deduce the complex conductivity tensor. We observe a strong temperature dependence of the mid-infrared Hall conductivity in sharp contrast to the weak dependence of the longitudinal conductivity. By fitting the frequency dependent normal state Hall angle to a Lorentzian H () = H /( H – i) we find the Hall frequency, H , is nearly independent of temperature. The Hall scattering rate, H , is consistent with H T 2 up to 200 K and is remarkably independent of IR frequency suggesting non-Fermi liquid behavior.  相似文献

With respect to the issue of whether the scientometric measurement of the decline of British science is an artifact of the specific database and underlying assumptions in methods, I argue that there are fewer analytical objections against measurement by usingSciSearch Online than against other methods (based on the fixed journal set and fractional counting). The measurement of international co-authorship, i.e. a network indicator, should not be confounded with measurement of performance of a single nation. The time series for the different subsets of UK-publications, which have been proposed, are given. None of the indicators can be shown to exhibit a trend (in contrast to a drift). The hypothesis of a decline has therefore to be rejected.  相似文献

The thermal conductivity of compressed exfoliated graphite was measured in the directions parallel (K ) and normal (K ) to the rolling plane, in the temperature range of 0.2–3 K. The temperature dependence was determined in both cases. ForK=aT b in the temperature range of 0.2–0.7 K we get values forb of 0.95 forK and 1.6 forK ; in the range 0.7–2 K we get 1.6 forK and 2.1 forK ; and in the range 2–3 K we get 1.9 forK . TheK temperature dependence forT<0.7 K is smaller than what would be expected. ForK , evaluations of lattice and electronic contributions show that below 0.7 K the thermal conductivity is basically electronic. Above 2 K, where results are found in the literature, our data are in good agreement with them.  相似文献

The deformation behaviour of bulk polycrystalline zirconium hydrides in the composition range ZrH1.27 to ZrH1.66 has been investigated by compressive loading at temperatures between room temperature and 500° C. Single-phase -zirconium hydride is brittle below 100° C. Analyses of slip traces on specimens deformed at temperatures between 100 and 250° C have shown that the glide planes are {111} types. The deformation characteristics of and ( + ) alloys at temperatures between 100 and 500° C are consistent with the hydrogen vacancies in the -phase providing significant lattice friction to the movement of dislocations in the zirconium lattice of the hydride structure. The room temperature fracture stress of ( + ) alloys increases with the volume fraction of the -phase and this can be related to the resistance offered by platelets to the propagation of cleavage cracks in the matrix. In a ( + + ) alloy the resistance to crack propagation at room temperature is further increased by the soft -zirconium phase.  相似文献

We have performed high-resolution measurements of the magnetic field (0 TB9 T) and temperature (10 KT<140 K) dependence of the longitudinal and transverse Hall thermal conductivity of a twinned YBa2Cu3O6.95 single crystal. We have used and compared two recently published methods to extract the thermal Hall angle H(T, B). Our results indicate that cot(H) varies quite accurately as T4 in the intermediate temperature range 0.3c. It shows a well defined minimum at Tm20 K which resembles that observed in the c-axis microwave conductivity. The electronic part of the longitudinal and the transverse thermal conductivity show the scaling behavior for transport properties predicted for d-wave superconductors in the temperature range 18 KT30 K.  相似文献

Amorphous In2Te3 was prepared in both bulk form, by quenching the molten material, and thin-film form, by the thermal evaporation technique. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the prepared samples in bulk and as-deposited thin-film forms were in the amorphous state. - and -phases of In2Te3 were prepared by annealing bulk samples at 615 and 813 K, respectively. Films annealed at 573 K give -phase polycrystalline structure. The electrical conductivity for the as-deposited In2Te3 films increases with increasing film thickness. The conduction activation energy, E, of the as-prepared bulk and thin film samples were found to be 0.516 and 0.521 eV. The corresponding values of room-temperature electrical conductivity, RT, for these samples are 1.1×10-6 and 7.15×10-7-1m-1, respectively. The observed change in the value of RT may be due to the difference in the structure of bulk and thin-film samples. The increase of E with annealing temperature for both bulk and thin-film samples is interpreted in terms of the density of states model proposed by Mott and Davis. © 1998 Chapman & Hall  相似文献

We have measured ac susceptibility, nuclear magnetic resonance, and nuclear heat capacity of two PtFe x samples with concentrations of magnetic impurities x = 11 ppm and 41 ppm at magnetic fields (0 ± 0.05) mTB248 mT. The susceptibility data have been measured at temperatures of 0.3 KT100 mK, no hint for nuclear magnetic ordering could be detected to a temperature of 0.3 K. The nuclear heat capacity data taken at 1.4 KT10 mK show enhanced values which scale with x at low polarization. This effect is described by a model assuming an internal magnetic field caused by the impurities. No indication for nuclear magnetic ordering could be detected to 1.4 K. The nuclear magnetic resonance experiments have been performed on these samples at 0.8 KT0.5 mK and 2.5 mTB22.8 mT as well as on three other samples with x = 5, 10, 31 ppm in a different setup at 40 KT0.5 mK and at 5.4 mTB200 mT. Spin-lattice and effective spin-spin relaxation times 1and 2 * of 195 Pt strongly depend on x and on the external magnetic field. No temperature dependence of 1and 2 * could be detected and the NMR data, too, give no hint for nuclear magnetic ordering to 0.8 K.  相似文献

No Heading In thin BSCCO (2212) whisker-based superconducting bridges with width and length 1 m we observe random telegraph noise at discrete values of current. We show that the noise is associated with spontaneous processes of addition and removal of discrete vortex trains and reflects the regular structure of steps on the I–V curves. The average lifetime of the trains falls down with increasing temperature T in a complex way: intervals of steep drop ( an order of magnitude per Kelvin) are separated with a plateau of (T) with 10–2 s. The 70 GHz irradiation with 100 W power results in the growth of the average switching frequency by 5 orders of magnitude; thus the HTSC bridges could be efficient detectors of microwave radiation. We discuss the peculiar features of (T).PACS Numbers: 74.25.Fy, 74.40.+k, 74.60.Ge, 74.72.Hs  相似文献

The problem of freezing of pure water in a round pipe is treated with due regard for convection under asymmetric thermal boundary conditions in the absence of motion along the pipe. The problem is solved numerically using the control volume approach, SIMPLER algorithm, and the enthalpy method. Results are obtained for three Grashof (Gr) and six Biot (Bi) numbers: Gr = 1.55 × 106, Bi = 0.305 (0 < ), Bi = 0.044 ( < 2); Gr = 1.24 × 107, Bi = 0.610 (0 < ), Bi = 0.087 ( < 2); Gr = 9.89 × 107, Bi = 1.220 (0 < ), Bi = 0.174 ( < 2). The correctness of calculation of the problem disregarding free-convection flows is analyzed.  相似文献

Eilenberger's formulation of the theory of inhomogeneous superconductors is used to study an isolated vortex in a type-II superconductor. Exact integral expressions for the vector potential and the order parameter are obtained and used to determine the asymptotic behavior of these quantities. Far from the axis of the vortex, the vector potential approaches its BCS value in an approximately exponential fashion, the decay constant being equal to the quantity obtained by Eilenberger and Büttner in the local case, and equal to {2[(k BT)2+ BCS 2 ]1/2/vF+(1/v F)}–1 in the case where nonlocal effects dominate. The order parameter also approaches its BCS value approximately exponentially, the decay constant being equal to the quantity of Eilenberger and Büttner when <2, and equal to 1/2 when >2.Supported in part by the National Research Council of Canada.Sole affiliation is now the University of Toronto.  相似文献
