The present article is focused on modelling of flow and heat transfer behaviour of Cu-water nanofluid in a confined slot jet impingement on hot moving plate.Different parameters such as various moving plate velocities, nanoparticles at various concentrations, variation in turbulent Reynolds number and jet nozzle to plate distance have been considered to study the flow field and convective heat transfer performance of the system. Results of distribution of local and average Nusselt number and skin friction coefficients at the plate surface are shown to elucidate the heat transfer and fluid flow process.Qualitative analysis of both stream function and isotherm contours are carried out to perceive the flow pattern and heat transfer mechanism due to moving plate. The results revealed that average Nusselt number significantly rises with plate velocity in addition with jet inlet Reynolds number.Correlations of the average Nusselt numbers are presented.  相似文献

Heat transfer in the turbulent flow of fluid in a pipe is analyzed. Nusselt number as a function of the Reynolds and Prandtl number is given. Power-type correlations were proposed within a wide range of Reynolds and Prandtl number. Relationships for the Nusselt number compare well with experimental data. The paper presents three power-type correlations of a simple form, which are valid for Reynolds numbers range from 3·103 ≤ Re ≤ 106, and for three different ranges of Prandtl number: 0.1 ≤ Pr ≤ 1.0, 1.0 Pr ≤ 3.0, and 3.0 Pr ≤ 103. Heat transfer correlations developed in the paper were compared with experimental results available in the literature. The comparisons performed in the paper confirm the good accuracy of the proposed correlations. They are also much simpler compared with the relationship of Gnielinski, which is also widely used in the heat transfer calculations.  相似文献

Experimental research has long shown that forced-convective heat transfer in wall-bounded turbulent flows of fluids in the supercritical thermodynamic state is not accurately predicted by correlations that have been developed for single-phase fluids in the subcritical thermodynamic state. In the present computational study, the statistical properties of turbulent flow as well as the development of coherent flow structures in a zero-pressuregradient flat-plate boundary layer are investigated in the absence of body forces, where the working fluid is in the supercritical thermodynamic state. The simulated boundary layers are developed to a friction Reynolds number of 250 for two heat-flux to mass-flux ratios corresponding to cases where normal heat transfer and improved heat transfer are observed. In the case where improved heat transfer is observed, spanwise spacing of the near-wall coherent flow structures is reduced due to a relatively less stable flow environment resulting from the lower magnitudes of the wall-normal viscosity-gradient profile.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of experiments and numerical simulation of the turbulent swirling flow and heattransfer in a duct. The calculated results are in good agreement with data obtained by measurements. It isfound that the swirling flow promotes heat transfer to the wall of the duct;the swirl numbers are dependentupon the vane exit angles of the swirler, distance from the swirler and the duct Reynolds number. But the decayof swirling flow in streamwise direction is related to local Reynolds numbers and is independent of the swirlerexit angle. The swirl flow characteristics presented in this paper may be used for engineering purposes.  相似文献

Experimental and numerical investigation of heat transfer and fluid flow were conducted for classic heat exchanger elements (flat plate with fin-tubes in-line, staggered and with vortex generators) and corrugated-undulated ducts under transitional and weakly turbulent conditions. The dependence of average heat transfer and pressure drop on Reynolds number and geometrical parameters was investigated. Distributions of local heat transfer coefficient were obtained by using liquid crystal thermography and surface-averaged values were computed. Three-dimensional numerical simulations were conducted by a finite-volume method using a low-Reynolds number k-e model under the assumption of fully developed flow. Computed flow fields provided otherwise inaccessible information on the flow patterns and the mechanisms of heat transfer enhancement.  相似文献

Conjugate Heat Transfer Analysis of Film Cooling Flows   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The objective of this study is to evaluate the potential of various grids to satisfactorily simulate the development of a cooling film, using a coupled computation that takes into account the full geometry. Detailed computations of a single row of 30 degrees round holes on a flat plate are presented for blowing ratios of 0.764,1.01 and 1.54. The simulation results are compared well with experimental data. The two-layer model gave more accurate results but consumed much more computational time than the standard wall functions. The k-e turbulence model with wall functions with appropriate values of y is suitable for practical use. The results show the importance of the conjugate calculation for accurately describing the influence of the heat transfer within the cooling film.  相似文献

Based on the simplified format of the Reynolds stress equations,a fire-new rotational-modification method for the anisotropic turbulence model has been presented.A three-dimensional Navier-Stokes code with this new rotational modified k-ω turbulence models(β=0.1 and β=1) and the standard k-ω turbulence model have been used for the prediction of flow and heat transfer characteristics in a rotating smooth square channel. The Reynolds number Re based on the inlet velocity of the cooling air and hydraulic diameter is 6000.The rotating speed are 300,600,900,1200rpm respectively. The calculations results of using three turbulence models have been compared with the experimental data. The research results show that(1) the rotational modification coefficient Rf13 used in the new anisotropic k-ω model would increased/decreased the predictions of heat transfer on the trailing surface/leading surface compared to the standard k-ω model. And this tendency would be increased with the increased β.(2) The simulation performance of the standard k-ω model was well on the leading surface. However,on the trailing surface it under-predicted the heat transfer at high rotating speed.(3) The calculation results of the new anisotropic k-ω model with β=0.1 proposed by the present paper agreed well with experimental data, both on the leading and trailing surfaces.Besides, compared to 1,0.1 is a more appropriate magnitude of β at conditions in the present paper.  相似文献

Numerical simulations were performed to predict the film cooling effectiveness on the fiat plate with a three-dimensional discrete hole film cooling RSM-AKN turbulent heat transfer models based on variable turbulent Prandtl number approaches were considered.Obtained numerical results were directly compared with the data that came from an experiment based on Transient Liquid Crystal methodology. All implemented models for turbulent heat transfer performed sufficiently well for the considered case.It was confirmed, however, that the two-equation closure can give a detailed look into film cooling problems without using any time-consuming and inherently unsteady models. The RSM-AKN turbulent model was used in micoholes case too.The main target of simulations was maintain the same level of cooling efficiency ratio in both cases and confirm that is possible significantly reduce mass flows of the coolant in microholes case.  相似文献

The influence of non-dimensional rotational velocity, flow Reynolds number and Prandtl number of the fluid on laminar forced convection from a rotating horizontal cylinder subject to constant heat flux boundary condition is numerically investigated. The numerical simulations have been conducted using commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics package CFX available in ANSYS Workbench 14. Results are presented for the non-dimensional rotational velocity α ranging from 0 to 4, flow Reynolds number from 25 to 40 and Prandtl number of the fluid from 0.7 to 5.4. The rotational effects results in reduction in heat transfer compared to heat transfer from stationary heated cylinder due to thickening of boundary layer as consequence of the rotation of the cylinder. Heat transfer rate increases with increase in Prandtl number of the fluid.  相似文献

A comparative experimental study of heat transfer characteristics of steam and air flow in rectangular channels roughened with parallel ribs was conducted by using an infrared camera. Effects of Reynolds numbers and rib angles on the steam and air convective heat transfer have been obtained and compared with each other for the Reynolds number from about 4,000 to 15,000. For all the ribbed channels the rib pitch to height ratio(p/e) is 10, and the rib height to the channel hydraulic diameter ratio is 0.078, while the rib angles are varied from 90° to 45°.Based on experimental results, it can be found that, even though the heat transfer distributions of steam and air flow in the ribbed channels are similar to each other, the steam flow can obtain higher convective heat transfer enhancement capability, and the heat transfer enhancement of both the steam and air becomes greater with the rib angle deceasing from 90° to 45°. At Reynolds number of about 12,000, the area-averaged Nusselt numbers of the steam flow is about 13.9%, 14.2%, 19.9% and 23.9% higher than those of the air flow for the rib angles of 90°,75°, 60° and 45° respectively. With the experimental results the correlations for Nusselt number in terms of Reynolds number and rib angle for the steam and air flow in the ribbed channels were developed respectively.  相似文献

Heat transfer and turbulent flow characteristics between the ribbed plates have been numerically studied in the present paper. The ribs with the rectangular cross-section have been placed on the top and the bottom plates of the duct, symmetrically. It is assumed that the fluid at 300 K has entered the system while the walls kept at 400 K.All numerical analyses have been performed by k-ωShear Stress Transport(SST)turbulence model for Re=10000,15000 and 20000.For the fixed rib width, the dimensionless height and the dimensionless spacing have been respectively varied as 0.1≤h’≤0.3 and 0.5≤S’≤1,and the results have been compared with the ones of the smooth plate.Even though there are twenty-seven cases obtained as a result of parametric combinations, the number of various cases has been reduced from twenty-seven to only nine different variations by applying the Taguchi method.Furthermore, the effects of all the considered parameters on the heat transfer and flow characteristics have been determined in terms of the influence degree. The optimum parameters for Nusselt number and pressure loss have been ascertained individually. What is more, the almost exact values for Nusselt number and pressure loss have also been attained by the confirmation test having an error percentage of 6%.The most dominant factor has been determined as the rib height due to its effect on both heat transfer and flow characteristics.Similarly, with respect to the numerical results, increasing the rib height, the rib spacing and Reynolds number has separately increased Nusselt number.Nevertheless, symmetrical flow structure has been disturbed as a result of ascending the rib height as clearly seen for h’=0.3 from the charts. In the meantime, pressure loss has been augmented owing to the increment of the geometrical parameters and also Reynolds number.h’=0.1 with S’=0.5 at Re=10000,h’=0.2 with S’=0.5 at Re=15000 and h’=0.1 with S’=0.75 at Re=15000 can be suggested for the heat transfer enhancement since the pressure loss of the system is tolerated.  相似文献

An experimental investigation is carried out to study fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics on the endwall fitted with arrays ( 7×7 ) of short rectangular plate fins of different pattern (co-angular and zigzag) for different pitch ratio. Experiments were conducted in a rectangular duct of 50 mm height for an air flow of Reynolds number ranged from 18750 to 62500 based on the equivalent diameter and air velocity of the duct. Infrared image analysis technique was employed to make clear the characteristics of local heat transfer coefficients on fin base, endwall and overall surface. Flow pattern around the short rectangular plates were visualized by inducing fluorescent dye in a water channel and longitudinal vortices were observed. Increasing the distance between plates in flow direction causes heat transfer enhancement for co-angular pattern, while decreasing the distance causes heat transfer enhancement for zigzag pattern. Zigzag pattern with pitch ratio 2 is found to be more effective in heat transfer enhancement than any other cases investigated.  相似文献

Based on the standark κ-ε turbulence model,a new compressible κ-ε model considering the pressure expansion influence due to the compressibility of fluid is developed and aplied to the simulation of 3D transonic turbulent flows in a nozzle and a cascade. The Reynolds averaged N-S equations in generalized curvilinear coordinates are solved with implementation of the new model, the high resolution TVD scheme is used to discretize the convective terms. The numerical results show that the compressible κ-ε odel behaves well in the simulation of transonic internal turbulent flows.  相似文献

Experiments were carried out to study the heat transfer characteristics of a single-row aluminum fin-and-tube crossflow heat exchanger with an emphasis in the regime of low flow rate of the in-tube fluid. The Chilton-Colburn analogy, in conjunction with the least-squares power-law technique, was used to correlate experimental data. Both air- and water-side heat transfer correlations were developed in the form of the Nusselt numbers as a function of Reynolds and Prandtl numbers. The experimental observations are quantitatively compared to the predictions of correlations available in the published literature. Different transfer mechanisms were found to be operative in the ranges of water-side Reynolds numbers based on the hydraulic diameter. In a range of Reynolds number from 1,200 to 6,000, the water-side thermal resistance accounts for less than ten percent of the overall thermal resistance. The dominant thermal resistance is always on the air-side. On the other hand, the thermal resistance of water-side is nearly equal to that of air-side in a Reynolds number range from 500 to 1,200.  相似文献

The heat transfer enhancement characteristics of water with polystyrene particles are examined in the present numerical study. The numerical study is conducted in the hydrodynamically fully developed turbulent flows within a circular duct with the wall boundary condition of a constant heat flux. The thermal conductivity of the turbulent flow obtained by the Reynolds analogy is 1000 times as much as the thermal conductivity of water. On the contrary, the enhancement of thermal conductivity caused by water-microparticles suspension is relatively low. Slight enhancements of the local Nusselt number are obtained in the numerical calculations of Newtonian turbulent flows with the micro-convection effects, thus showing large deviations from the experimental data. The numerical results in non-Newtonian flows are in agreement with the experimental data. Thus, the main cause for the enhancement of the heat transfer of the suspension might be not due to the micro-convection effects but to the non-Newtonian effects  相似文献

Numerical results of three-dimensional separated flow and heat transfer in an enlarged rectangular channel are presented in this paper. The expansion ratio and aspect ratio of the channel are 2.0 and 16.0,respectively.Reynolds number of the flow is 200 and it is over the critical Reynolds number.Over the critical Reynolds number, the flow in the symmetric channel becomes asymmetric and deflects to one side of the walls.Effects of the pulsating fluctuation at the inlet upon the flow in the channel are investigated. It is clarified that the inlet flow with a pulsating fluctuation of Strouhal number 0.05 and 0.10 strongly affects on the flow in the channel, and heat transfer on the walls is enhanced, especially on the wall surface covered with long separation bubble. On the other hand, the pulsation of St=0.0125 oscillates the shear layer more weakly than that of St=0.05,0.10 and the enhancement of heat transfer is smaller, though some vortices are shed from the vicinity of the side wall near the reattachment region. The oscillation of the main flow calms down gradually as the Strouhal number of the pulsation increases over 0.10.The influence of pulsation of St=0.20 on the flow is restricted in the near downstream of the step, and heat transfer on the walls is almost similar to that of the steady flow in the channel.  相似文献

An imaginary plane method for calculation of radiative heat trensfer and its application in the freeboard of AFBC boiler is presented in this paper. The combustion reaction and particle concentration are taken into account in this method. With is method, one-dimensional freeboard model for radiative heat transfer has been made. Results from this model have been compared with the experimental results of a 130 t/h AFBC boiler. The distribution of flue gas temperature and heat flux at the waterwell are obtained. It is shown that this model has the advantage of good accuracy and requiring less computation time. The applicability of the predicted results in the AFBC boiler design and operation was also discussed.  相似文献

This study examines experimentally the effect of stators on the performance and heat transfer characteristics of small axial cooling fans. A single fan impeller, followed by nine stator blades in the case of a complete stage, was used for all the experimental configurations. Performance measurements were carried out in a constant speed stage performance test rig while the transient liquid crystal technique was used for the heat transfer measurements. Full surface heat transfer coefficient distributions were obtained by recording the temperature history of liquid crystals on a target plate. The experimental data indicated that the results are highly affected by the flow conditions at the fan outlet. Stators can be beneficial in terms of pressure drop and efficiency, and thus more economical operation, as well as, in the local heat transfer distribution at the wake of the stator blades if the fan is installed very close to the cooling object. However, as the separation distance increases, enhanced heat transfer rate in the order of 25% is observed in the case of the fan impeller.  相似文献

Numerical results of three-dimensional separated flow and heat transfer in a rectangular channel with a suddenexpansion are presented in this paper.Numerical simulations of Navier-Stokes and energy equations are carriedout using the finite difference method. The results of three-dimensional calculations are compared with thetwo-dimensional ones, and effects of the aspect ratio of channel upon the flow are shown. The transition fromsymmetric to asymmetric flow appears at lower Reynolds number as increasing the aspect ratio. The details oflocal heat transfer characteristics in two different separated flow regions on two downstream walls are clarified.Two-dimensionality of the flow and heat transfer almost disappears for the aspect ratio considered.  相似文献

The effect of friction factor on the unsteady state mixed convective-radiative heat transfer in an inclined cylindrical annulus is investigated from continuity, momentum and energy equations. The outer cylinder is kept at a constant temperature while the inner cylinder is heated with constant heat flux. The governing equations are normalized and solved using the vorticity-stream function and the BFC (body fitted coordinates) methods. The two heat transfer mechanisms of convection and radiation are treated independently and simultaneously. A computer program (Fortran 90) was built to calculate Nusselt number (Nu) and friction factorffor unsteady state condition for fluid Prandtl number fixed at (Pr = 0.7) (for air as working fluid) with radius ratio (/~ = 2.6), Rayleigh number (0 〈 Ra 〈 103), Reynolds number (50 〈 Re 〈 2,000), conduction-radiation parameter (0 〈 N 〈 10), optical thickness (0 〈 l" 〈 10) and different annulus inclination with horizontal plane (0~ _〈 d 〈 90~) for concentric cylindrical annulus. For the range of parameters considered, results show that radiation enhance heat transfer. It is also indicated in the results that as 3 increasefwill be decrease and also when Re increasefwill be decrease for any value of Ra causing increase in heat transfer. The maximum value off can be recognized at ~ = 90~ and the minimum value at 6 = 0~ for low Re. There is an optimum value of annulus inclination that gives maximum value of Nu, this maximum value appears at 90~ of annulus inclination comparison of the result with the previous work shows a good agreement.  相似文献
