Sixty eight lines comprising 36 Lathyrus sativus, 16 L cicera and 16 of L ochrus were analysed for crude protein (CP), the neurotoxin β-N-oxalylamino- L-alanine (BOAA), protein precipitable tannin (PPT), catechin equivalents (CE), and trypsin inhibitor activity (TIA). Randomly chosen lines from each of the species were also evaluated for other chemical and in-vitro characteristics including neutral detergent fibre (NDF), acid detergent fibre (ADF), in-vitro dry matter and in-vitro organic matter digestibilities (IVDMD, IVOMD), respectively. The species with the lowest and highest CP were L cicera(295.39 ± 18.69 g kg?1 DM) and L sativus(324.99 ± 13.40 g kg?1 DM), respectively. BOAA concentration, also, was least in L cicera (1.26 ± 0.18 g kg?1 DM) and highest in L sativus(5.63 ± 0.43 g kg?1 DM). There were higher intraspecies variations in BOAA levels among L sativus and L cicera than in L ochus genotypes. On average, BOAA levels in L ochrus and L sativus were about four to five times higher than those in L cicera. The PPT level in L sativus(4.54 ± 0.31 g kg?1 DM) was similar to that in the other species. However, there were some lines without detectable PPT in all the species. CE, which detects simple flavonoids as well as condensed tannins, was no more than 6.10 g kg?1DM in any accession, except in L ochrus in which CE ranged from 14.07 g kg?1 to 28.50 g kg?1 DM. There were high variabilities between and within species in CE values as shown by the high coefficients of variation. Mean TIA in all the L sativus lines (18.16 ± 2.38 g kg?1 DM) was similar to that in L ochrus and about twice the levels in L cicera. The coefficients of variation ranged from 10.93% in L ochrus to 17.13% in L sativus. The ash, organic matter and NDF content of the lines did not differ significantly. However, the ADF, IVDMD and IVOMD differed significantly (P < 0.05) between the species. The IVDMD and IVOMD of L cicera (88.55 ± 0.80% and 85.53 ± 0.85%, respectively) were significantly lower (P < 0.05) than in the other species. Seed weight correlated significantly (P < 0.05) with CE and TIA in both L sativus and L ochrus while CP correlated significatly (P < 0.01) with TIA in both L sativus and L cicera with respective r values of 0.70 and ?0.75.  相似文献

A trial was conducted to compare benefits obtained from feeding four types of silage. There were two silages that contained condensed tannins (CT)—lotus (Lotus corniculatus) and sulla (Hedysarum coronarium)—maize silage or traditional ryegrass pasture silage, all fed at 5 kg dry matter (DM) cow?1 day?1 with restricted pasture (RP). Cows on the RP (control) treatment and those fed the silage treatments were offered an allowance of 25 kg pasture DM cow?1 day?1, while the full pasture (FP) cows were offered 50 kg pasture DM cow?1 day?1. Silage supplementation increased both DM intake and milk yield compared with cows given RP only. Cows on the lotus silage supplement and the FP treatment had significantly higher milk production than the other silage supplemented cows (P < 0.001). For cows given lotus silage, the high milk yield was probably due to a combination of the higher nutritive value of the silage and possibly to the protein‐sparing effects of the lotus condensed tannins because the total DM intake of cows fed the lotus silage was the same as that of cows given the pasture and maize silages (P > 0.25). The high milk yield of the FP treatment was mainly a result of the cows having a higher intake of pasture than cows on all the other treatments. This study demonstrated the potential benefit of silage supplementation, particularly with lotus silage, for increased milksolids yield in summer when low pasture growth rates and quality may otherwise limit production. BACKGROUND: Tannins added to animal diets may have a positive effect on energy and protein utilisation in the rumen. The objective of this study was to examine the impact of different sources and concentrations (20, 50, 100, 150 and 200 g kg?1 dry matter (DM)) of condensed (acacia and quebracho) and hydrolysable (chestnut and valonea) tannins on rumen microbial fermentation in vitro. The experiment also included a negative control with no tannins (control) and a positive control with monensin (10 mg L?1). RESULTS: In vitro gas production and total volatile fatty acid (VFA) concentration decreased as tannin concentration increased. Addition of acacia, chestnut or valonea tannins at ≥ 50 g kg?1 or quebracho tannins at ≥ 100 g kg?1 resulted in a decrease (up to 40%) in methane (CH4) production compared with the control. Valonea tannins were the only tannin source that reduced (?11%) CH4 production at 50 g kg?1 without affecting VFA concentration. Tannin treatments reduced ammonia (NH3) and branched‐chain VFA concentrations, indicating a reduction in ruminal protein degradation. Monensin reduced CH4 production (?37%) and NH3 concentration (?20%) without affecting total VFA concentration. CONCLUSION: Supplying acacia, chestnut or valonea tannins at 50 g kg?1 has the potential to reduce CH4 production and ruminal protein degradation with minimum detrimental effects on efficiency of ruminal fermentation. A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of tannin (0, 5, 15, 20 and 25 g kg?1 diet) and a microbial enzyme supplement (MES) on the feed consumption, body growth and digestive physiology of broiler chickens between hatch and 22 days of age. Feed intake, body weight and body weight gain declined (p < 0.001) with an increase in dietary tannin content. Feed conversion efficiency was increased (p < 0.001) in line with dietary tannin level, up to 15 g kg?1 diet. There were no significant effects of dietary treatment on the protein content of pancreatic tissue or activities of pancreatic and jejunal enzymes. The ileal digestibilities of energy, protein, arginine, alanine and leucine were reduced (p < 0.001) as dietary tannin level rose to 20 g kg?1 diet and beyond. The digestibilities of methionine and phenylalanine were also negatively affected (p < 0.01) at the highest level of dietary tannins, while phosphorus digestion was improved (p < 0.05) on diets containing tannin. Apart from an increase (p < 0.01) in the protein content of the jejunal mucosa of birds on the diet with 20 g tannin kg?1 diet, there were no significant effects of the MES on most of the variables assessed. The results demonstrate the negative effects of tannin, especially at high levels of inclusion in the diet. However, neither tannins nor MES influenced the activities of digestive enzymes assessed, suggesting that a wider range of factors may be involved in regulating the effects of tannins on poultry. BACKGROUND: A meta‐analysis of data containing 127 different dietary treatments with 593 goats from 30 published studies was performed to explain the effects of foliage supplementation to low‐quality roughages on intake, digestibility and N utilisation in goats. RESULTS: Basal dry matter (DM) intake decreased linearly with increasing foliage level (FL) in diets and foliage crude protein (CP) intake, whereas total DM intake increased linearly with increasing FL and CP intake from foliages and quadratically with increasing concentration of neutral detergent fibre (NDF) in foliages. The digestibility of DM and CP increased linearly with increasing FL and CP concentration in basal roughages and foliage CP intake. The greater concentration of NDF in foliages and roughages decreased CP digestibility linearly. Intakes of digestible DM and CP increased quadratically with increasing FL, with plateau levels of 36.4 and 5.52 g kg?1 (body weight)0.75 in response to 490 and 740 g kg?1 FL respectively. Faecal N, urinary N and N retention increased linearly with increasing FL and foliage CP intake. CONCLUSION: Responses of goats fed basal roughages supplemented with foliages are influenced by the quality and quantity of foliages and quality of roughages. Up to 490 g kg?1 FL can be incorporated in diets for better feed utilisation and animal performance, beyond which nutrient utilisation may be adversely affected. Thirty-five Large White x Landrace sows were housed in individual stalls during gestation and were fed a standard diet (DE, 13.2 MJ kg?1) supplemented with oat hulls (OH), such that the ratios of basal diet to OH were 1:0, 9:1, 7:3 or 1:1. Digestibility and balance measurements were made during 7-day periods beginning on days 45 and 90 of gestation. During a 3-week lactation all sows were fed a standard diet (calculated DE, 12.5 MJ kg?1, CP, 152 g kg?1). Increasing OH intake increased mean net maternal weight gains and P2 fat depths during pregnancy and tended to increase total litter weight at birth. Sow-milk solids content and litter weight gain during the 3-week suckling period also tended to increase (nonsignificant), following increasing OH supplementation during gestation. Increasing OH intake tended to increase VFA and reduce cholesterol concentration in blood plasma at 56 days of gestation. The time taken to consume the once-daily feed allowance increased and gastrointestinal transit time decreased as OH intake increased. The apparent digestibilities of the major nutrients were significantly depressed with increasing levels of OH in the diet but the total amounts of nutrients absorbed increased. The following values were calculated for OH by the difference method: apparent digestibility of DM, 0.31; apparent digestibility of ADF, 0.17; DE, 6.25 MJ kg?1; ME 6.01 MJ kg?1.  相似文献

Raw mango ( Mangifera indica L) seed kernels were found to contain tannins (56·5 g kg−1 DM), cyanogenic glucosides (64 mg kg−1 DM), oxalates (42 mg kg−1 DM) and trypsin inhibitory activity (20 TIU g−1 DM). The contents of these anti-nutritive factors were lowered by both soaking and boiling treatments, but boiling was more effective. The in vitro protein digestibility (26·3%) and apparent metabolisable energy (7·88 MJ kg−1 DM) values of raw kernels were low, and these parameters were improved by soaking and boiling. The observed improvements paralleled reductions in tannin contents, indicating that tannins are largely responsible for the poor nutritive value of raw kernels. In experiment 1, diets containing 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 g kg−1 raw mango seed kernels that replaced maize were fed to 7-day-old White Leghorn cockerels for 14 days. Inclusion of more than 50 g kg−1 raw kernels lowered ( P< 0·05) the weight gains, feed intake and feed efficiency of chicks. High level inclusion of raw kernels had toxic effects, as evidenced by increased mortality. In experiment 2, soaking and boiling treatments improved ( P< 0·05) feed intake of chicks fed on diets containing 100 g kg−1 kernels and reduced mortality. Feed/gain was unaffected by processing. Soaking had no effect, whereas boiling of kernels improved the weight gains. However, weight gains of chicks receiving diets containing 100 g kg−1 boiled kernels were numerically, though non-significantly, lower than those of the maize-control group. It is concluded that raw mango seed kernels are unsuitable as a feed ingredient in chick diets and, that soaking and boiling do not completely overcome the anti-nutritive effects of raw kernels.  相似文献

The composition of the leaves of cocoyam (Xanthosoma sagittifolium) and of two trees (Trichanthera gigantea and mulberry, Morus alba), their nutritive value in pigs and voluntary intake by pigs were determined. The average protein content ranged from 170 to 240 g kg?1 dry matter (DM) and that of neutral detergent fibres from 218 to 398 g kg?1 DM. The leaves are interesting sources of calcium (up to 69 g kg?1 DM), potassium, iron and manganese. The proteins are well balanced in essential amino acids, with lysine ranging from 43 to 57 g kg?1 proteins. The apparent faecal digestibility was determined by difference in 35 kg pigs fed a diet containing 35% leaf meal. The digestibility coefficients of DM, N and energy were, respectively, 47–57, 33–36 and 51–53%. The digestible energy value ranged from 1.674 to 2.037 kcal kg?1 DM. The voluntary intake of Trichanthera and Xanthosoma was measured in sows weighing 100 kg on average. The intake reached 3.4 kg fresh leaves day?1 (0.51 kg DM) and 1.0–1.1 kg dry leaf meal/day. It is concluded that low energy density is the main limiting factor of tree foliage for pig nutrition but that they are good sources of minerals and well‐balanced proteins. Neutral and acid detergent fibre (NDF, ADF), lignin, crude protein (CP), total extractable phenols (TEPH), tannins (TETa), condensed tannins (vanillin assay TECTa; proanthocyanidins TEPAs) in the leaves of spring Phyllirea media (SPRG) or early summer (ESUM) and early autumn (EAUT) Carpinus duinensis, Quercus coccifera and Fraxinus ornus were studied. Gas production (in vitro) and dry matter (DM) degradation (in sacco) were also studied after incubation for up to 96 h. Concentrations of TEPH, TETa, TECTa, TEPAs and the fibre components were variable (P < 0·05) among species and except for CP were not consistently changed with degree of maturity. CP content varied from 70·5 to 132·9 (g kg?1 DM) but was always decreased by 15–25% at maturity, whereas levels of TECTa and TEPAs were increased (P < 0·05) in C duinensis and Q coccifera but not in F ornus (P > 0·05). Concentrations of phenolics were related negatively but more significantly to gas production than to DM degradation (in sacco). Therefore, the gas test was considered to be more efficient than the nylon bag technique for the identification of feeds with antinutritive factors. Based on their phenolic content and gas production or DM degradation, the nutritive value of P media = F ornus (ESUM and EAUT) > C duinensis = Q coccifera (ESUM) > C duinensis = Q coccifera (EAUT). It was concluded that the decline in CP with maturity could make nitrogen the factor limiting intake and digestibility. This would be accentuated with an increase in the concentration of phenolics, particularly tannins.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: We hypothesized that eating a food containing saponins (SAP), or tannins (TAN) prior to foods containing the alkaloids gramine (GRA) or 5‐methoxy‐N,N‐dimethyltryptamine (TRP) would provide benefits not possible when the alkaloid‐containing foods were eaten alone. METHODS: In Trial 1, four groups of five lambs were first offered food with SAP for 30 min followed by food with either GRA or TRP for 3.5 h in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement of a completely randomized design that included alkaloid (GRA or TRP) with or without SAP. In Trial 2 TAN replaced SAP. All foods were isocaloric (3.3 Mcal kg?1) and isonitrogenous (14% crude protein). Foods, fecal and urine samples were collected and analyzed for dry matter intake and apparent digestibility of dry matter, energy (in megajoules, MJ), nitrogen (N), and neutral detergent fiber. RESULTS: Supplemental SAP did not affect digestibility of the parameters tested (P > 0.10). Supplemental TAN increased digestibility of N (g kg?1, P = 0.04), N retained (g day?1, P = 0.07), N digested (g day?1, P = 0.06), and N retained/N consumed (g kg?1, P = 0.07). However, digestibilities of dry matter (g kg?1, P = 0.0026), energy (MJ 1000 MJ?1, P = 0.003), neutral detergent fiber (g kg?1, P = 0.008), and digested N retained (g kg?1, P = 0.07) were lower for lambs fed TAN than for unsupplemented animals. CONCLUSIONS: Tannin supplementation can improve retention of nitrogen in animals fed alkaloid‐containing grasses such as reed canarygrass and tall fescue. Combinations of forages with complementary primary and secondary compounds enable animals to maintain intake and improve nutrient utilization. Copyright © 2012 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The possible degradation of non-extractable condensed tannins (NECT) within the intestinal tract and their effect on faecal weight and composition was studied. Two groups of male Wistar rats were fed either a NECT-free control diet, or a diet containing 100 g carob pod concentrate kg?1 (53 g NECT kg?1 dry matter) for 5 weeks. A slight effect of NECT on growth rate was observed in the fifth week. The NECT diet did not affect food intake. Significant increases of total faecal output as well as water, nitrogen and fat excretion were observed. NECT were not degraded in the intestinal tract, since they were quantitatively recovered in faeces (98 ± 1%). Since the usual spectrophotometric methods gave contradictory results on NECT levels in the diet and faeces, an alternative method based on Klason lignin residues was used.  相似文献

This study examines the intake of nitrate and nitrite in Swedish children. Daily intake estimates were based on a nationwide food consumption survey (4-day food diary) and nitrite/nitrate content in various foodstuffs. The mean intake of nitrite from cured meat among 2259 children studied was 0.013, 0.010 and 0.007?mg?kg?1?body?weight?day?1 in age groups 4, 8–9 and 11–12 years, respectively. Among these age groups, three individuals (0.1% of the studied children) exceeded the acceptable daily intake (ADI) of 0.07?mg?nitrite?kg?1 body weight?day?1. The mean intake of nitrate from vegetables, fruit, cured meat and water was 0.84, 0.68 and 0.45?mg?kg?1 body weight?day?1 for children aged 4, 8–9 and 11–12 years, respectively. No individual exceeded the ADI of 3.7?mg?nitrate?kg?1 body weight?day?1. However, when the total nitrite intake was estimated, including an estimated 5% endogenous conversion of nitrate to nitrite, approximately 12% of the 4-year-old children exceeded the nitrite ADI. Thus, the intake of nitrite in Swedish children may be a concern for young age groups when endogenous nitrite conversion is included in the intake estimates.  相似文献

An improved method for the analysis of propylene glycol (PG) in foods using a gas chromatography-flame ionisation detector (GC-FID), with confirmation by GC-MS, was validated by measuring several analytical parameters. The PG concentrations in 1073 products available in Korean markets were determined. PG was detected in 74.1% of the samples, in a concentration range from the limit of detection (n.d., 0.39 μg ml?1) to 12,819.9 mg kg?1. The Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) 2011–2013 reported the mean intake levels of PG from all sources by the general population and consumers were 26.3 mg day?1 (0.52 mg kg?1 day?1) and 34.3 mg day?1 (0.67 mg kg?1 day?1), respectively. The 95th percentile intake levels of the general population and consumers were 123.6 mg day?1 (2.39 mg kg?1 day?1) and 146.3 mg day?1 (2.86 mg kg?1 day?1), respectively. In all groups of the general population, breads were the main contributors to the total PG intake. These reports provide a current perspective on the daily intake of PG in the Korean population.  相似文献

The occurrence of deoxynivalenol (DON) was investigated in 514 cereal-based products (corn-based, n = 125; barley-based, n = 96; wheat-based, n = 94; rice-based, n = 199) marketed in Korea during 2007?2008, and estimates of DON intake were determined. Samples were analysed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with ultraviolet light (UV) detection after immunoaffinity clean-up. The limits of detection (LOD) and limits of quantification (LOQ) were 2.2 and 5.6 µg kg–1, respectively. Recoveries and repeatability expressed as coefficients of variation (CV) were 82.3–100% and 2.4–15.3% in beer, bread and dried corn. The incidences and mean levels of DON were 56% and 68.9 µg kg?1 for corn-based products, 49% and 24.1 µg kg?1 for wheat-based products, 43% and 7.5 µg kg?1 for barley-based products, and 16% and 3.4 µg kg?1 for rice-based products, respectively. The estimated daily intake of DON from the consumption of rice-based, wheat-based, barley-based and corn-based products were 0.0038 µg kg?1 bw day?1, 0.0032 µg kg?1 bw day?1, 0.0015 µg kg?1 bw day?1 and 0.0002 µg kg?1 bw day?1, respectively. These values represent 0.38%, 0.32%, 0.25% and 0.01% of the provisional maximum tolerable daily intake (PMTDI) of 1 µg kg?1 bw day?1. These results indicate that rice-based products are major contributors to DON exposure in Korea, even though the current exposure level is unlikely to cause adverse health effects.  相似文献

Data are presented on the chemical composition and nutritive value of the leaves of the lemon (Citrus limon) and loquat (Eribotrya japonica) trees. Twenty-four castrated male Murciano-Granadina goats were used in 10 digestibility trials. The digestibility of untreated straw and straw treated with ammonia was measured in two trials, and in eight trials (4 trials×2 periods) lemon or loquat leaves were fed at levels of 25, 50, 75 and 100% in a diet with NH3-treated barley straw. Crude protein (CP) contents were slightly higher for lemon tree leaves (11·2%), since the treated straw had a lower protein concentration (6·9%). CF, NDF and ADF contents in the leaves were lower than in the treated straw. Digestibility of OM and CP in treated straw was lower than in the leaves of either tree. In contrast, CF, NDF, ADF and cellulose digestibilities of the leaves were lower than that of NH3-treated straw. The level of leaf inclusion in the diet significantly affected (P<0·05) DM, OM, CP and fibre digestibility, and DM intake. Diets including lemon leaves showed higher DM, OM, CP and NDF digestibilities than those with loquat leaves, but the DM intake was not affected (P>0·05) by the type of leaves. Results from the present study suggest that tree leaves can be used as a roughage source instead of NH3-treated barley straw, with no adverse effect on intake or digestibility for goats. © 1998 SCI.  相似文献

Twenty six straw and 15 foliage samples of Lathyrus sativus , Vicia narbonensis , V sativa and V ervilia were analysed for ash, crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fibre (NDF), acid detergent fibre (ADF), extractable phenols (Pe), extractable tannins (Te), extractable condensed tannins (CTe), protein precipitation capacity (PPC) and in vitro characteristics predicted from Hohenheim gas test. The content of crude protein in the foliage was significantly higher than that of the straws (152·6 vs 64·5 g kg−1), while ash (82·8 vs 116·8 g kg−1), NDF (332·7 vs 523·5 g kg−1) and ADF (205·2 vs 369·9 g kg−1) were significantly lower. For straws of L sativus , V narbonensis and V sativa , there was no significant difference in the protein and ADF contents, whereas ash and NDF contents were significantly lower and higher respectively in L sativus as compared to V narbonensis or V sativa . Predicted from gas volumes, the organic matter digestibility (OMD: 70 vs 56%) and metabolisable energy (ME: 9·7 vs 7·3 MJ kg−1) were significantly higher for the foliage compared to straws. The OMD of L sativus straws was significantly lower compared to the straws of V narbonensis and V sativa . The OMD and ME of the straws of second year was significantly lower than those of the first year. The CP, OMD and ME of V sativa foliage were higher than that of V narbonensis . There was no difference in the cell constituents, OMD and ME of foliage samples of V sativa harvested in May 1992 and June 1992. The contents of Pe, Te and CTe of straws were 1·08%, 0·43% and 0·33%, respectively, and those of foliage were 2·27%, 1·30% and 1·63%, respectively. PPC was not detected for any of the foliage and straw samples. The results suggested that the tannin levels of legume straws investigated are negligible and those of the legume foliage are very low. This does not appear to adversely affect their nutritive value since the maximum decrease in OMD by the tannins was about 3% units.  相似文献

Farmland salinization due to unsustainable agricultural practices has become a worldwide problem. Salt‐resistant forage crops, introduced at the primary stages of land reclamation, can provide fodder for livestock, thus adding economic benefit to the process. Saltgrass (Distichlis spicata), a wild halophytic grass species distributed in salt marshes in America, is occasionally grazed by livestock and wild animals. In attempts to domesticate this species, we evaluated and ranked the fodder potential of groups of accessions from several sites in North and South America. Ash content never exceeded 110 g kg−1, even when plants were grown with salty water. Crude protein content was variable and averaged 116 g kg−1 of DM. Mean yield of metabolizable energy was 6.30 and 5.61 kJ g−1 DM for sheep and goats, respectively. Organic matter digestibility (in vitro) was higher in sheep than in goats (506 g kg−1 and 478 g kg−1, respectively) for all saltgrass accessions. Differences in quality parameters were usually larger within than among groups of accession when sorted according to country of origin or ecosystem. Accessions from the South Atlantic coast of North America and from South America were superior in several parameters. South Atlantic coast accessions were relatively vigorous and were productive under saline conditions, as indicated by their relative growth rate (RGR) in small‐scale experiments. Six outstanding saltgrass accessions were chosen for further examination. The results of the present study indicate that saltgrass holds considerable promise for selection and suggest that efforts should continue to identify and characterize additional saltgrass ecotypes. The content of nitrite and nitrate in cured meat products has been monitored in Denmark seven times between 1995 and 2006. The maximum permitted added amounts of sodium nitrite in Denmark (60 mg kg?1 for most products up to 150 mg kg?1 for special products) have not been exceeded, except for a few samples back in 2002. The intake, mean and intake distribution of sodium nitrite have been calculated from 1998 to 2006 with data from the Danish dietary survey conducted in 2000–02 on Danes from four to 75 years of age. The amounts used by industry have been relatively stable through the whole period with levels varying between 6 and 20 mg sodium nitrite kg?1 with sausages, meat for open sandwiches and salami-type sausages being the greatest contributors. The mean intake of sodium nitrate was around 1 mg day?1, which is very low compared with the total intake of 61 mg day?1. The mean intake of sodium nitrite was 0.017 and 0.014, 0.009 and 0.008, and 0.007 and 0.003 mg kg?1 body weight day?1 for men and women in the age groups 4–5, 6–14 and 15–75 years, respectively, which was much lower than the acceptable daily intake (ADI) of 0.09 mg kg?1 body weight day?1. The 99th percentile for the group of 4-year-olds was 0.107 and 0.123 mg kg?1 body weight day?1 for boys and girls, respectively, and the 95th percentile was 0.057 and 0.073 mg kg?1 body weight day?1 for boys and girls, respectively, highest for the girls. With fewer than 100 boys and girls in the 4–5-year age group, only very few persons were responsible for the high intake. The conversion of nitrate to nitrite in the saliva and the degradation of nitrite during production and storage must also be considered when evaluating the intake of nitrite.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to evaluate the intake of selenium, total and inorganic arsenic and the bioaccessibility of arsenic in diets of Mexican schoolchildren using an in vitro method. RESULTS: Total and inorganic arsenic concentrations in the diets ranged from 0.05 to 1.15 mg kg?1 dry weight (DW) and from 0.023 to 0.088 mg kg?1 DW respectively, while selenium levels were between 0.08 and 0.20 mg kg?1 DW. Daily intake of total and inorganic arsenic ranged from 0.15 to 10.49 µg day?1 kg?1 body weight (BW) and from 0.06 to 1.11 µg day?1 kg?1 BW respectively, while that of selenium varied from 0.29 to 2.63 µg day?1 kg?1 BW. Bioaccessibility of total and inorganic arsenic ranged from 4 to 97% (mean 44 ± 21.5%) and from 33 to 97% (mean 71 ± 22.5%) respectively. CONCLUSION: Inorganic arsenic levels in the diets were low. Therefore there appears to be a low risk of adverse effects resulting from excess inorganic arsenic intake from these diets. Copyright © 2011 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献
