This study investigated the effects of fumaric acid on push‐out bond strength when applied to dentin surfaces and fiber posts. The root canals of 60 mandibular premolar teeth were instrumented and obturated. After removing two thirds of filling material, teeth were prepared according to six randomized groups (n = 10/group) defined by two fiber post surface treatments (0.7% fumaric acid or 9% hydrofluoric acid) and three dentin conditioning treatments [control (no conditioning); 17% ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA); or 0.7% fumaric acid]. After fiber post‐cementation, three 1‐mm thick discs were obtained from each tooth by transverse sectioning, and each disc underwent push‐out bond strength testing. Data were analyzed with a one‐way analyses of variance (anova ) and t tests; p < .05 was considered statistically significant. Failure modes were determined by stereomicroscopy, and the surface characteristics of dentin and fiber posts were observed by scanning electron microscopy. Push‐out bond strength was greater for the group in which the post surface treated with hydrofluoric acid and the dentin surface treated with fumaric acid than the nontreated dentin and hydrofluoric acid‐treated post group (p < .05). There were no significant differences between other comparison pairs (p > .05). A combination of fumaric acid dentin conditioning and hydrofluoric acid fiber post treatment strengthened the bonding ability of fiber posts.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the combined effect of MTAD and photon‐induced photoacoustic streaming (PIPS) technique on the smear layer removal and the bond strength of glass fiber post. Fifty‐five human mandibular premolars were chosen. After root canal therapy and post space preparation, the teeth were equally divided to five groups according to the methods of root‐dentin pretreatment: G1: distilled water (control); G2: 2.5% NaOCl+17% EDTA; G3: MTAD; G4: PIPS; G5: MTAD+PIPS. One sample was randomly selected from each group, and scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to observe the microscopic morphology of the coronal, middle and apical level of the root‐dentin. The remaining ten samples from each group were glued to glass fiber posts, and the bond strength was assessed by push‐out test. SEM evaluation showed that the most complete smear layer removal was found in MTAD + PIPS group, especially in coronal third. Push‐out test results exhibited that there was a statistically significant interaction between the experimental groups and root canal third (p < .0005). Significant differences could be found among five groups (p < .05): G5 > G4 > G3 > G2 > G1. G5 had the highest bond strength. In conclusion, post space pretreatments with MTAD or PIPS technique can significantly remove smear layer and improve the bond strength of glass fiber post, and combination of them works best.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate conventional syringe irrigation and three different irrigant activation techniques' effectiveness for smear layer removal in the absence and presence of intracanal‐separated file (SF) fragment. Mandibular anterior teeth (160 total) with single canal were used and each root canal preparation was finished with the ProTaper Universal F1. The samples were randomly divided into eight equal groups with n = 20 in each group. The Protaper Universal F3 file was used to simulate intracanal file separation in four groups. To remove the smear layer, final irrigation for each group was performed with conventional syringe irrigation (CSI), EndoActivator, Vibringe, and passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI). The roots were divided into two longitudinal parts and evaluated with scanning electron microscopy, and two observers scored smear layers at 1, 2, and 3 mm away from the minor foramen. The data were analyzed using the Kruskal–Wallis and Mann–Whitney U tests (p < .05). PUI significantly removed the smear layer better at all levels than other nonseparated file groups (p < .05). In the presence of intracanal SF, PUI had the most efficiency loss. Sonic techniques and CSI revealed statistically better smear layer removal efficiency than PUI at 3 mm level in the presence of SF (p < .05). The intragroup score analysis at all levels revealed that there were less smear layers at 3 mm than at 1 mm in all SF groups (p < .001). As a conclusion, sonic/ultrasonic methods did not yield better irrigant by‐passing than CSI in the presence of intracanal SF.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the effect of Reciproc Blue (RPCB), XP‐endo Shaper (XPS), and WaveOne Gold (WOG) single‐files on dentinal microcrack formation using micro‐computed tomography (micro‐CT). Twenty‐four mesial roots (24 mesio‐buccal and 24 mesio‐lingual canals) of mandibular molar teeth were prepared using RPCB, XPS, and WOG files (n = 8/each group). The samples were scanned with micro‐CT in the pre‐ and post‐preparation. Then, before preparation and after preparation cross‐sectional images of the teeth were evaluated to detect the presence of microcracks. For each group, the number of microcracks was calculated as a percentage rate. The data were statistically analyzed using McNemar at 5% significance level (p < .05). Dentinal microcracks were observed in 25.99% (2,103 of 7,813), 31.99% (2,482 of 7,758), and 36.66% (2,836 of 7,731) of cross‐sectional images of the XPS, WOG, and RPCB groups, respectively. In all the groups, all the dentinal microcracks seen in the post‐treatment cross‐sectional images were present in the corresponding pre‐treatment images. Within the limitations of this study, the XPS, WOG, and RPCB files did not cause new dentinal microcrack formation or propagation of existing dentinal microcracks.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate three reciprocating systems and complementary cleaning methods on filling material removal during retreatment of flattened canals. Thirty‐six mandibular incisors were prepared using rotary instruments up to size 25.08 and filled using the single‐cone technique. Subsequently, the teeth were divided into three groups (n = 12) according to retreatment procedures: Reciproc Blue (RB): 25/0.08 and 40/0.06; ProDesign R (PDR): 25/0.06 and 35/0.05; and WaveOne Gold (WOG): 25/0.07 and 35/0.06. The remaining filling volume materials were assessed by means of micro‐CT imaging before and after retreatment. After this, the specimens were subdivided into three groups according to complementary cleaning methods: XP‐Endo Shaper (30/0.01); passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI); 60° oscillatory instrumentation with #30 H‐file, and micro‐CT scan was taken. Then, the roots were cut in half and the samples were analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The data were analyzed statistically using Kruskal–Wallis and Dunn's Multiple Comparison test with significance level of 5%. None of the reciprocating files promoted complete removal of filling material and there was no statistical difference between the groups, regardless instrument size (p > 0.05). Complementary cleaning methods increased remnant filling removal (p < 0.05). XP‐endo Shaper significantly reduced the amount of filling material in the apical and middle thirds, compared with H‐files (p < 0.05), with no difference with PUI. In the SEM, there was no statistical difference among the instruments (p > 0.05). The reciprocating systems showed similar effectiveness in removing root filling material. The present micro‐computed tomography (micro‐CT) study compared the presence of voids in the band‐shaped isthmuses obturated by warm vertical compaction (WVC) and single‐cone (SC) techniques. Twenty mesial roots from mandibular first molar teeth showing a band‐shaped isthmus were selected and assigned into two groups based on their preoperative anatomical dimensions (n = 10), according to the filling technique: WVC or SC. Post‐filling micro‐CT scanning was performed. The percentage volume of root canal filling materials and voids were calculated and data were analyzed using the Mann–Whitney U test with a significance level of 5 and 95% confidence interval. Mean percentage volumes of filling materials and voids were 86.88 ± 8.53 and 13.11 ± 8.53 for the WVC group, 84.39 ± 8.30 and 15.60 ± 8.30 for the SC group, respectively, with no significant difference between them (p > .05). Neither WVC nor SC produced void‐free root canal fillings in the band‐shaped isthmuses and both techniques resulted in a similar quality of root canal filling.  相似文献

The aim was to examine the effect of retreatment process on the surface roughness and nickel titanium (NiTi) composition of ProTaper Universal Retreatment (PTUR; consists of 3 files; D1, D2, D3) and WaveOne Gold (WOG) (primary) instruments. Twenty extracted mandibular molar teeth with severe curved (30–40°) mesial roots were selected and divided into two groups (n = 10) based on the instrument used for the removal of the root canal filling. Before and after using the instruments in two canals, they were subjected to atomic force microscopy (AFM) and energy dispersive X‐ray spectrophotometry (EDX) analysis. The EDX analysis data and roughness average (Ra) and root mean square (RMS) values were analyzed statistically using a one‐way analysis of variance and post hoc Tukey's test at the 5% significant level. There was no significant difference between the new and used D1 and D2 PTUR and WOG instruments in terms of the Ni composition (p > .05). The Ti contents of the used D2 and D3 PTUR instruments were lower those of the new instruments (p < .05). In both new and used instruments, PTUR and WOG have no difference in terms of Ra and RMS values. (p > .05). The Ra and RMS values of the PTUR and WOG systems significantly increased after removal of the root canal filling (p < .05). The use of PTUR and WOG instruments for removal of root canal filling in severely curved root canals affected the surface topography of the files. The NiTi composition of the WOG instruments was unaffected by the retreatment process.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the sealing ability and marginal adaptation of calcium silicate‐based cements (CSCs) in root‐end cavities prepared by ultrasonic and laser tips. A total of 72 extracted human maxillary incisor teeth were randomly divided as 60 teeth in experimental groups and 6 teeth each for positive and negative control groups. Specimens in experimental groups were obturated, their root‐end resections were performed and randomly divided into six groups (n = 10) as follows: G1: Ultrasonic retrotip + MTA, G2: Ultrasonic retrotip + Calcium Enriched Mixture (CEM), G3: Ultrasonic retrotip + Biodentine, G4: Er:YAG laser tip + MTA, G5: Er:YAG laser tip + CEM, G6: Er:YAG laser tip + Biodentine. The sealing ability was measured by fluid transport method. Six specimens from each experimental group were randomly selected to analyze marginal adaptation and prepared for scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. Micrographs were scored and also analyzed using Image J software. Data were analyzed with; two‐way ANOVA, Bonferroni, Kruskall–Wallis, Mann–Whitney‐U, Siegel & Castellan, and Spearman correlation coefficient tests. No significant difference was found between materials regarding the sealing ability and marginal adaptation (p > 0.05). Significantly greater fluid movement and poor marginal adaptation were seen for materials placed in cavities prepared by laser tips (p < 0.05). Positive correlation was found between the results of scoring and Image J analysis of SEM images (r = 0.596, p < 0.001). Fluid transport method and SEM analysis gave similar results suggesting the use of ultrasonic‐retrotips for preparing root‐end cavities which are going to be filled with one of these CSCs.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to evaluate mineral content of root canal dentin after treatment with different antibiotic pastes including the mixture of metronidazole, ciprofloxacin, doxycycline, cefaclor, amoxicillin, or minocycline. Fifty extracted maxillary canine teeth were randomly divided into five groups (n = 10 teeth for each group). Root canals were prepared Reciproc rotary files. Canals were irrigated using 5 ml 5% NaOCl and 1 ml 15% EDTA. Each tooth in all groups were longitudinally splitted into two pieces as a control and experimental samples. Each experimental group received following antibiotic paste; double antibiotic paste (DAP) and triple antibiotic paste with doxycycline (TAPd), TAP with cefaclor (TAPc), TAP with amoxicillin (TAPa), and TAP with minocycline (TAPm) for 21 days. The Ca, P, Mg, Ca, and K levels, and the Ca/P ratio was analyzed by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped using a Bruker energy‐dispersive X‐Ray (EDX) detector. Data were analyzed with independent samples t‐test, one‐way anova, and Duncan tests. Ca and Ca/P ratio showed a statistically significant increase TAP with amoxicillin and cefaclor (p < .05). DAP, TAPd, and TAPm did not change the mineral levels (p > .05). TAPa and TAPc with increased the Ca level and Ca/P ratio of the root canal dentin which consequently positively influences the revascularization process.  相似文献

The aim of the study was to evaluate the adhesion of a self‐adhering flowable composite resin to primary tooth enamel and dentin after silicon carbide paper (SiC) and laser pretreatment. Adhesive properties were evaluated as shear bond strength (SBS) and scanning electron microscopic (SEM) characteristics. A total 120 primary canine teeth were randomly divided into two groups to study enamel and dentin. Each group was divided into 6 subgroups (n = 10) according to type of surface preparation (SiC or Er:YAG laser) of enamel or dentin. Three methods were used to build cylinders of restoration on tooth surface: OptiBond All‐In‐One + Premise Flowable composite, OptiBond All‐In‐One + Vertise Flow and Vertise flow. After restoration, samples were tested for SBS and failure mode. Twenty eight samples were examined by SEM. The results of the study showed SBS of Vertise Flow was lower than others in enamel and dentin samples pretreated with SiC and in dentin samples pretreated with laser (P < 0.001). Compared to SiC pretreatment, laser pretreatment led to a significantly higher SBS with Vertise Flow on enamel (P < 0.001). Vertise Flow associated with the adhesive led to a higher SBS in enamel and dentin compared to Vertise Flow alone. Adhesive and mixed failure modes were observed more frequently in Vertise Flow groups. SEM images showed that Vertise Flow led to more irregularities on enamel and more open dentinal tubules after laser ablation compared SiC pretreatment. Microsc. Res. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of 17% ethylene‐diamine‐tetra‐acetic acid (EDTA) used alone or associated with 2% chlorhexidine gel (CHX) on intracanal medications (ICM) removal. Sixty single‐rooted human teeth with fully formed apex were selected. The cervical and middle thirds of each canal were prepared with Gates Glidden drills and rotary files. The apical third was shaped with hand files. The specimens were randomly divided into two groups depending on the ICM used after instrumentation: calcium hydroxide Ca(OH)2+CHX or Ca(OH)2+sterile saline (SS). After seven days, each group was divided into subgroups according to the protocol used for ICM removal: instrumentation and irrigation either with EDTA, CHX+EDTA, or SS (control groups). All specimens were sectioned and processed for observation of the apical thirds by using scanning electron microscopy. Two calibrated evaluators attributed scores to each specimen. The differences between the protocols for ICM removal were analyzed with Kruskal‐Wallis and Mann‐Whitney U tests. Friedman and Wilcoxon signed rank tests were used for comparison between the score of debris obtained in each root canal third. Remains of Ca(OH)2 were found in all specimens independently of the protocol and ICM used (P > 0.05). Seventeen percent EDTA showed the best results in removing ICM when used alone (P < 0.05), particularly in those associated with CHX. It was concluded that the chelating agent 17% EDTA significantly improved the removal of ICM when used alone. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of initial NaOCl on the decalcification and erosion ability of EDTA and QMix. Sixty‐maxillary‐incisors were bisected longitudinally and the tooth‐halves were used. The experiment was conducted in two‐sets. In set‐I, 80‐tooth halves were treated in the presence or absence of initial NaOCl and EDTA. In set‐II, 40‐tooth halves were immersed in NaOCl and QMix. After each treatment, calcium‐ion release was determined with flame photometry. The erosion was imaged using SEM. Initial NaOCl led to concentration‐ and time‐dependent increase in calcium removal effect of 17% EDTA (p < .05). The rate of calcium removal and root canal wall erosion was considerably more severe with the use of 5% NaOCl for 3 min (p < .05). QMix as a final solution showed less decalcification and erosion than 17% EDTA when used 5% NaOCl as an initial irrigant (p < .05). Optimizing the concentration and application time of NaOCl can decrease the decalcification effect of chelating agents.  相似文献

The aim of this work was to present and discuss a quality control protocol for in vitro micro‐computed tomography (microCT), based on the adaptation of the quality control protocols for medical computed tomography. The importance of establishing a quality control protocol is related to the opportunity to identify problems on time comparing the microCT images acquired in different time points, and in this way to verify the performance of the device. The proposed quality control protocol was applied for a long‐time monitoring period to verify the stability of the micro‐tomographic system over time. The protocol proposed in this study was applied to the histomorphometric characterization of bone tissue, but it can be used on a wide range of in vitro microCT applications. Noise and uniformity tests, taken and adapted to micro‐tomographic system by medical standard guidelines of quality control, were performed by the use of a water phantom. An accuracy test was designed and performed by the use of a morphometric calibrated phantom. All these tests were performed during a long‐time monitoring period to control the stability of the system. Specific control charts and monitoring parameters for each test were used to represent the monthly measures collected during 20 months and an out of control condition was defined. The reference values (baseline), calculated to control the stability of micro‐tomographic system over time, were calculated during acceptance/status test. During the period, no out of control conditions in noise, uniformity and accuracy tests were recorded. However, a changing condition was found in noise test, as showed by using statistical C (P < 0.01) and Kruskal–Wallis (P < 0.05) tests. In particular, a Wilcoxon rank sum test with Bonferroni correction (P < 0.0125) was applied in noise test to investigate which of the comparisons among first five acquisitions of year 2004 (group B.L.) and each group was significant (P < 0.0125). The noise showed a slight but significant increase over the years compared to baseline value; however, no out of control conditions were recorded. Nonetheless, a maintenance service to control the performance of mechanical components of microCT was required and performed.  相似文献

The aim of the study was to determine the efficacy of different products containing fluoride, calcium and phosphate for enamel remineralization in eroded primary teeth. A total of 90 sound primary canine teeth were randomly divided into 5 groups of 18 teeth each: 1) control (polished enamel), 2) 5% DuraShield sodium fluoride varnish, 3) 500 ppm fluoridated toothpaste, 4) casein phosphopeptide‐amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP‐ACP) cream, and 5) Clinpro White varnish containing functionalized tri‐calcium phosphate (fTCP). Enamel microhardness (EMH) was measured in all samples before and after demineralization and after 28 days of remineralization. Also 8 samples in groups 2 to 5 and four samples of sound and demineralized enamel were examined with atomic force microscopy (AFM). All data were analyzed with one‐way ANOVA (p<0.05). Mean microhardness of demineralized enamel was significantly lower than in enamel at baseline (p<0.001). Remineralization significantly increased microharness in groups 2 to 5 compared to the control group (p<0.001). Percent EMH after remineralization with CPP‐ACP was significantly higher than after fTCP (p=0.029), toothpaste (p< 0.001) or fluoride varnish (p<0.001); however, there was no significant difference between toothpaste and fluoride varnish (p=0.062). Microhardness increased more after fTCP treatment than after treatment with sodium fluoride varnish (p<0.001) or fluoridated toothpaste (p=0.045). AFM images showed that enamel roughness decreased most after treatment with fTCP, followed by CPP‐ACP, toothpaste and fluoride varnish. The efficacy of CPP‐ACP cream for remineralizing eroded enamel was greater than fluoride toothpaste, fluoride varnish or fTCP varnish. Microsc. Res. The erbium:yttrium–aluminum–garnet (Er:YAG) laser may be effective the bond strength of adhesive systems on dentine surfaces, the chemical composition and aggressiveness of adhesive systems in clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of the Er:YAG laser system with the bonding ability of two different self‐etching adhesives to caries‐affected dentine in primary molars. Ninety mid‐coronal flat dentine surfaces obtained from sound and caries‐affected human primary dentine were treated with an Er:YAG laser or a bur. The prepared surfaces were restored with an adhesive system (Xeno V; Clearfil S3) and a compomer (Dyract Extra). The restored teeth were sectioned with a low‐speed saw and 162 samples were obtained. The bond strength of the adhesive systems was tested using the micro‐tensile test method. The data were statistically analyzed. A restored tooth in each group was processed for scanning electron microscopy evaluation. The values of the highest bond strength were obtained from the Clearfil S3‐Er:YAG laser‐sound dentine group in all groups. (24.57 ± 7.27 MPa) (P > 0.05). The values of the lowest bond strength were obtained from the Xeno V‐Er:YAG laser‐sound dentine group in all groups (11.01 ± 3.89 MPa). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the micro‐tensile bond strength (μTBS) of dentin bonding agents containing different ratios of nano‐sized hydroxyapatite fillers (HA). X‐ray diffraction analysis was used for characterization, and scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis was used to determine the HA particle size after that HA were mixed a bonding agents without filler. Dentin bonding agents were divided into four groups according to addition of different ratios of nano‐sized hydroxyapatite fillers as 2% HA, 5% HA, 7% HA, and no‐filler control group. The teeth (n = 32) were sectioned with a low‐speed diamond blade under water cooling to expose the mid‐coronal dentin. Following the bonding application, restorations were applied incrementally. Each tooth was cut on the x and y axis, and each specimen was fixed to a testing device and stressed until failure occurred. The debonded specimens were examined under 250× magnification without a coating layer at 2.00 kV using a SEM to determine failure patterns. μTBS data were analyzed using a anova and Tukey's post hoc test. The failure mode data were analyzed using the Chi‐Square test. The maximum mean value of μTBS was in the 7% HA group, while the minimum mean value of μTBS was observed in the control group. 7% HA group was statistically significant and higher than other groups while there were no significant differences between the control, 2% HA, and 5% HA groups. According to SEM analysis, fracture analysis revealed that the mixed fracture type was seen more often than the other fracture types. The particle size and amount of HA fillers added to the adhesive resin seem to affect the success of the bond strength to the dentin. Adding different ratio nano‐sized HA fillers to the adhesive resin contributed positively to the immediate μTBS values in the dentin.  相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of different irrigation solutions used in photon‐initiated photoacoustic streaming (PIPS) or conventional needle irrigation (CNI) for eradication of Enterococcus faecalis from artificial root canals. Altogether, 240 artificial root canal samples were included. The models were split and incubated for 2 days to allow formation of E. faecalis biofilm. The models were randomly divided into two groups (n = 120): CNI and laser‐activated irrigation (LAI). Each group was divided into six subgroups according to different irrigation solutions: distilled water, 1% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), 2% NaOCl, 5.25% NaOCl, MTAD, and chlorhexidine, respectively. After irrigation, half of the samples (n = 10) were assessed immediately, and the other half of the samples (n = 10) were incubated for 6 hr. Bacterial suspensions were obtained from all samples before and after irrigation, and after incubation, and were quantified adenosine 5′‐triphosphate (ATP) assay kit. The biofilms were examined using fluorescent microscopy and analyzed by Image Pro Plus software. Significant reduction of ATP, average fluorescence density after irrigation, and growth after incubation was obtained in LAI group than in CNI group (p < .05). LAI can improve bacteriostasis effect of 2% NaOCl (p < .05). PIPS improved the antibacterial effect of the 2% NaOCl used in root canal therapy.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare total‐etch, self‐etch, and selective etching techniques on the marginal microleakage of Class V composite restorations prepared by Er:YAG laser and bur. Class V cavities prepared on both buccal and lingual surfaces of 30 premolars by Er:YAG laser or bur and divided into six groups. The occlusal margins were in enamel, and the cervical margins were in cementum. Group‐1: bur preparation(bp)+Adper Single Bond 2 (ASB)+Filtek Z550 (FZ); Group‐2: laser preparation(lp)+(ASB)+(FZ); Group‐3: bp + Clearfil S3 Bond Plus (CSBP)+(FZ); Group‐4: lp+(CSBP) (FZ); Group‐5: bp + acid etching+(CSBP)+(FZ); Group‐6: lp + acid etching+(CSBP)+(FZ). All teeth were stored in distilled water at 37°C for 24 hr, and then thermocycled 1000 times (5–55°C). Five teeth from each group were chosen for the microleakage investigation, and two teeth for the scanning electron microscope evaluation. Teeth which were prepared for the microleakage test were immersed in .5% methylene blue dye for 24 hr. After immersion, the teeth were sectioned and observed under a stereomicroscope for dye penetration. Data were analyzed using Kruskal–Wallis and Mann–Whitney U tests (p < .05). More microleakage was observed in the cervical regions compared to the occlusal regions in Groups 3, 5, and 6, respectively (p < .05). There is no statistically significant difference in Groups 1, 2, and 4, in terms of cervical regions versus occlusal regions (p > .05). No significant differences were observed among any groups in terms of occlusal and cervical surfaces, separately (p > .05). The objective of this in vitro study was to analyze and compare the biomimetic remineralizing efficacy of the self‐assembling peptide (P11‐4) with agents containing casein phoshopeptide‐amorhous calcium phosphate fluoride (CPP‐ACFP) and sodium fluoride (NaF) on artificial caries lesions using DIAGNOdent and micro‐computed tomography (μCT). Artificial enamel lesions were prepared on extracted impacted sound mandibular third molars. The samples were randomly allocated to four groups (n = 8): Group 1, P11‐4 (Curodont Repair, Credentis AG, Switzerland); Group 2, CPP‐ACFP (MI Varnish, GCCo., Japan); Group3, NaF (Duraphat Varnish, Colgate, Colgate‐Palmolive, NY, USA); Group 4, artificial saliva (control). The agents were applied to demineralized surfaces according to manufacturers' instructions; all specimens were stored in artificial saliva for 1 month. Demineralization and remineralization on enamel surfaces were analyzed and quantified by DIAGNOdent (KaVo, Germany) and μCT (SkyScan1174, Belgium) for lesion depth/area/volume/mineral density (MD). The remineralization efficacy of the agents was evaluated by DIAGNOdent on 1st, 7th, 30th days and by μCT on 30th day. Data were statistically analyzed by ANOVA, Kruskal–Wallis, T test, and Wilxocon tests. The highest remineralization efficacy findings in all periods were determined in Group 1, followed by Groups 2, 3, and 4. The remineralization findings for fluorescence, MD, lesion depth in Group 1 were found significantly higher (p < 0.01) than Group 3; and no significant differences (p > 0.05) were found between Groups 1–2 and Groups 2–3. The area and volume change values in Groups 1, 2, and 3 have shown no significancy (p > 0.05). A significant correlation (p < 0.01) was found between μCT and DIAGNOdent methods. The data of this study have demonstrated that P11‐4 has showed the best remineralization efficacy, followed by CPP‐ACFP and NaF. It is concluded that self‐assembling peptide‐based remineralization agent can be used successfully for biomimetic remineralization of enamel subsurface lesions.  相似文献

A mesiodens is the most common type of supernumerary tooth present in conjunction to normal dentition. A mesiodens may commonly occur in the central region of the upper or lower jaw. A mesiodens is different from normal teeth in terms of structure and shape. The aim of this study is to evaluate the micro‐ and nanoscale structural properties of mesiodens dentin by combined small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS/WAXS) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Five freshly extracted, noncarious mesiodens and five normal dentin disks prepared from human incisor teeth were compared. Using FTIR, the phosphate‐to‐amide I, carbonate‐to‐phosphate, and carbonate‐to‐amide I band area ratios and the crystallinity index were quantified. SAXS/WAXS were used to study the nanostructure of mesiodens. An increase in the mineral content in the mesiodens dentin with respect to the normal group was found. Crystallinity was also significantly increased and the protein content decreased in the mesiodens dentin compared with that of normal dentin. SAXS/WAXS results revealed that mesiodens dentin has a more calcified tissue. Further, SAXS analysis revealed a nonuniform distribution of dentin fibrils in mesiodens. Microsc. Res.
