Ultrasonic spot welding was applied for dissimilar lap welding of aluminium alloy and steel sheets. With a combination of heat and force input during the welding process, the welded interface at aluminium/steel interface was formed. A graphical model was established to represent the weld formation process. The thickness of top aluminium sheet was reduced with an increase in welding time, which led to the failure mode switching from debonding failure to pullout failure. The intermetallic at the welded interface was verified by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy on the surface of the fractured specimen. In addition, the vibration direction of the sonotrode during ultrasonic spot welding influenced joint strength by changing the alignment of micro bonds at the welded interface.  相似文献

Lap joints of an upper Al alloy (1.0-mm-thick A5052) and lower hot dip galvanized steel (1.2-mm-thick GI steel) were welded by a novel spot welding process for dissimilar metal lap joints using a new tool with the tip made of spherical ceramics, i.e. ‘Friction Anchor Welding.’ As a result, the rotating tool was plunged only to 1.3–1.4 mm from the Al alloy surface, and accordingly, a steel projection was not formed in the Al alloy sheet. Further, the Al alloy near the rotating tool was removed. However, near this removed area, the Zn layer on the GI steel melted and was removed by friction heat, and consequently, the GI steel and the Al alloy were welded. Thus, the tensile shear strength reached about 2.6 kN/point.  相似文献

Abstract

Aluminium alloy A6061-T6 or magnesium alloy AZ31 sheet was welded to steel sheet by a friction stir spot welding technique using a scroll grooved tool without a probe. The material flow in the nugget of the Mg/steel weld was less than that in the Al/steel one. The Al/steel weld exhibited higher static tensile–shear strength than the Al/Al weld, while the strengths of Mg/steel and Mg/Mg welds were comparable. Tensile–shear fatigue tests were performed using lap shear specimens of both dissimilar and similar welds. The dissimilar welds exhibited nearly the same fatigue strengths as the similar ones. The effective nugget size in the dissimilar welds was defined as the area where Al or Mg alloy remained on the steel side after static fracture. When the fatigue strengths of dissimilar welds were evaluated based on the effective nugget size, the normalised fatigue strengths of Al/steel and Mg/steel welds were comparable.  相似文献

Friction stir spot welding (FSSW) is a relatively recent development, which can provide a superior alternative to resistance spot welding and riveting for fabrication of aluminum sheet metal structures. In the current work, FSSW experiments were conducted in 3-mm thick sheets of aluminum alloy 2014 in T4 and T6 conditions, with and without Alclad layers. The effects of tool geometry and welding process parameters on joint formation were investigated. A good correlation between process parameters, bond width, hook height, joint strength, and fracture mode was observed. The presence of Alclad layers and the base metal temper condition were found to have no major effect on joint formation and joint strength. Friction stir spot welds produced under optimum conditions were found to be superior to riveted joints in lap-shear and cross-tension tests. The prospects of FSSW in aluminum sheet metal fabrication are discussed.  相似文献

铝与钢异种金属的优质高效焊接一直是焊接领域的一项技术难题.针对铝与钢焊接的技术困难和特点,提出了可实现铝与钢熔-钎连接的大光斑激光-电弧复合热源焊接方法,用该焊接方法实现了5A02铝合金板与镀锌钢板的优质高效连接.试验结果分析表明,接头钢母材未发生熔化,焊缝与钢母材为钎焊连接,拉伸试样的破坏位置发生在接头铝母材热影响区,接头的抗拉强度与铝合金电弧熔化焊接头强度相当.  相似文献

采用无匙孔搅拌摩擦点焊和真空扩散焊对AZ31B镁合金和DP600镀锌钢板进行搭接点焊试验,利用扫描电镜、能谱仪及拉伸试验对无匙孔搅拌摩擦点焊接头与真空扩散焊接头进行微观组织及力学性能的对比分析.结果表明,镁钢无匙孔搅拌摩擦点焊接头结合方式为机械结合与冶金结合共同作用,冶金结合表现为:镁钢界面发生扩散生成由Mg、Fe、O形成的金属间化合物,镁合金中的合金元素与铁生成金属间化合物,机械结合表现为:钢像“钉子”一样插入到镁合金基体中,且在镁钢结合界面处,两种金属呈锯齿状咬合,接头抗剪切载荷平均可达10.36 kN,而只存在单纯扩散结合方式的真空扩散焊接头抗剪切载荷平均仅为2.5 kN.通过两种接头对比分析可知,机械结合对接头力学性能的贡献远远大于冶金结合,其接头结合方式以机械结合为主.  相似文献

A friction stir spot welding process, in which a rotating tool without a probe was employed, was applied to a lap joint of an aluminium plate to a low carbon steel plate. The thicknesses of both plates were 0.5 mm. In this process, the rotating tool of 5 mm diameter, rotating at 18,000 rpm, was plunged into the aluminium plate at a rate of 2 mm/s, and then kept at a maximum plunged depth of 0.05–0.35 mm for 0–2 s (dwell time). In the weld obtained by this process, a hole due to the impression of the penetrated tool probe was not formed, although a slight depression by the tool plunging remained. At tool plunge depths of 0.1 mm or over, it was possible to weld the two plates. The maximum tensile failure load of 454 N was obtained at a plunge depth of 0.1 mm and a dwell time of 1.5 s. Its joint was fractured at an almost constant load along the periphery of the depression, leaving a part of the aluminium plate on the steel plate surface. Based on the observation of the weld interface microstructure and metal flow of aluminium in the weld, controlling factors of the joint strength were discussed.  相似文献

Spot joints of ferritic 409L stainless steel are successfully fabricated by friction stir spot welding (FSSW) using a convex shoulder tool. The welding process, microstructure and failure of the FSSW joint are investigated experimentally. During the FSSW process, the Z-force history shows significant variations depending on the contact phenomena between the tool and the joined sheets, while the Z-torque history shows a rather steady increase without pronounced changes in the trend until the initiation of dwelling. Electron back-scatter diffraction suggests that both continuous dynamic recrystallization and recovery occurred in the stir zone during the FSSW process. Observation of the FSSW joint that failed under the given lap shear load shows that the cracks, which are the result of the interfaces between the upper and lower sheets, propagated into the weld along the interfacial surfaces, after which a necking/shear failure occurred. Finally, the rupture of the joint, which was initiated by the necking/shear failure, propagated along the circumference of the weld.  相似文献

The influence of polarity during resistance spot weld (RSW) of dissimilar lap joints on mechanical properties and failure mode is assessed in this work. A dissimilar lap joint was set using DP 600 dual phase steel with AISI 304 stainless steel. The experiments were performed on a medium-frequency direct current spot welding machine with proper data acquisition of voltage and welding current. Temperature evolution was also acquired by using IR camera. The mechanical properties of spot welds were evaluated by using a coach peel testing. The effect of welding current and welding time on mechanical properties was also evaluated. Correlations between polarity with the welding nugget size, failure mode, tensile strength, temperature evolution and dynamic resistance were analysed. The analysis confirmed that the polarity on dissimilar lap joints affects the behaviour of dissimilar RSWs.  相似文献

Friction stir spot welding (FSSW) is a recent trend of joining light-weight sheet metals while fabricating automotive and aerospace body components. For the successful application of this solid-state welding process, it is imperative to have a thorough understanding of the weld microstructure, mechanical performance, and failure mechanism. In the present study, FSSW of aluminum-5754 sheet metal was tried using tools with circular and tapered pin considering different tool rotational speeds, plunge depths, and dwell times. The effects of tool design and process parameters on temperature distribution near the sheet-tool interface, weld microstructure, weld strength, and failure modes were studied. It was found that the peak temperature was higher while welding with a tool having circular pin compared to tapered pin, leading to a bigger dynamic recrystallized stir zone (SZ) with a hook tip bending towards the upper sheet and away from the keyhole. Hence, higher lap shear separation load was observed in the welds made from circular pin compared to those made from tapered pin. Due to influence of size and hardness of SZ on crack propagation, three different failure modes of weld nugget were observed through optical cross-sectional micrograph and SEM fractographs.  相似文献

采用填充ER316焊丝的光纤激光-MIG电弧复合焊方法,焊接间隙为0.5 mm、厚度为1 mm的SUS444铁素体不锈钢薄板对接接头和搭接接头,研究了获得成形良好的对接接头和搭接接头的工艺参数窗口和极限焊接速度,并对焊缝进行了着色渗透检验和拉伸试验. 结果表明,合理匹配焊接速度和焊接电流,是获得成形良好的大间隙接头的关键;当焊接速度过小或焊接电流过大时,较大的热输入导致焊缝过度熔透,焊缝成形不良;当焊接速度过大或焊接电流过小时,较小的热输入导致焊缝未熔透. 对接接头焊缝成形质量良好且熔透的极限焊接速度可达12 m/min,而搭接接头的极限焊接速度为5 m/min. 成形良好的焊缝均未发现表面裂纹. 拉伸试验表明,对接接头断裂在母材上;搭接接头绝大部分断裂在熔合线附近,极限焊接速度下获得的搭接接头的抗拉强度是母材的84.2%.  相似文献

进行了铝合金与工业纯铜、铝合金与低碳钢的搅拌摩擦焊接实验.实际焊接了对接接头、丁字接头、搭接接头,观察了焊接接头组织,测量了接头性能.结果表明,用搅拌摩擦焊方法代替熔化焊方法焊接异种材料,可以获得组织致密、无缺陷的接头,接头强度较高,且工艺适应性、结构适应性较好,焊接工艺参数、各组元在焊缝金属中的比例等对形成良好的焊缝有重要的影响.  相似文献

采用激光-TIG复合热源的焊接方法对镁和钢异种材料进行焊接,探讨了焊接工艺参数包括激光功率、激光离焦量、焊接速度以及TIG焊接电流对焊缝抗拉强度的影响.结果表明,在焊接过程中,随着激光功率的增大、焊接速度的减小,焊缝抗拉强度随之增大;随着激光离焦量的增加,焊缝抗拉强度呈现先增大后减小的特点;而TIG电流的变化对焊缝抗拉强度影响不大.试验证明,在合适的工艺参数下,能够得到成形良好、力学性能优良的镁/钢异种材料的焊接接头,并且在焊接过程中,激光对镁和钢的连接起主要作用.  相似文献

通过添加钛箔中间层,研究了镁/铝合金异种金属电阻搭接接头的微观组织与力学性能。研究结果表明,添加0.2mm厚度钛箔中间层可以大幅提高镁/铝异种金属电阻点焊接头的结合强度,接头的最大拉剪力随焊接电流的增大先增大后减小;当焊接电流为14kA时,最大拉剪力达到最大为2.2kN。铝钛界面处有TiAl3生成,接头断裂在镁侧热影响区上,经过换算接头的剪切强度能够达到156MPa。通过SEM和EDS分析,添加钛中间层阻断了镁合金和铝合金的相互扩散,钛中间层阻碍了Mg-Al金属间化合物的生成,从而大大提高接头的结合强度。  相似文献

A small-scale joining technique of dissimilar friction stir spot welding (FSSW) between bulk metallic glass and Mg alloy sheet has been tried using an apparatus which was devised with a CNC milling machine to give a precise control of tool speeds. The influence of tool speeds on the joining characteristics during FSSW was investigated. As a result, it was found that the rotation speed and plunge speed of a tool during FSSW significantly influenced the welding performance of dissimilar FSSW between bulk metallic glasses and Mg alloy.  相似文献

针对铝-钢异种金属焊接缺陷多、效率低等问题,提出一种堆焊-搅拌摩擦复合焊接方法,即采用旁路分流电弧焊先在钢板上堆敷铝合金,再采用搅拌摩擦焊进行铝合金堆敷层和铝合金母材的搭接焊,得到在铝-铝界面呈现典型搅拌摩擦焊“洋葱圆环”状结合的铝-铝-钢复合过渡接头. 针对典型焊缝进行铝-钢异种金属接头的组织结构分析.结果表明,搅拌摩擦焊可以有效消除铝合金堆敷层中存在的气孔等缺陷,并实现金属界面层的减薄. 对铝钢结合界面进行EDS扫描,在堆敷铝合金侧可以观察到呈树枝状的Fe相扩散和呈网状的不均匀Si相扩散,结合XRD(X-ray diffraction)分析其主要成分为Al5Fe2Zn0.4和Al7Fe3Si0.3. 对接头试样进行拉伸试验,拉伸接头断裂在铝合金母材处,达到铝合金母材强度的100%,符合接头应用的力学指标.  相似文献

采用冷金属过渡的方法对AZ31B变形镁合金和镀锌钢板进行搭接点焊试验,运用正交试验法优化工艺参数,同时利用光学显微镜、扫描电镜和万能拉伸试验机对焊接接头的微观组织和力学性能进行研究.结果表明,运用冷金属过渡方法能够获得成形美观和性能良好的焊接接头;工艺参数显著性顺序为镀锌钢板孔径大小、送丝速度、点焊时间;接头为典型的点熔钎焊接头,由钎焊结合区和熔焊结合区组成;接头的抗拉剪载荷可达3.12 kN,远大于相同尺寸下镁镁点焊试样的抗拉剪载荷,接头的断裂方式为剪切型断裂和撕裂型断裂.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Under tensile shear loading, fracture modes of dissimilar lap welds produced by friction stir scribe technology were studied. Three fracture modes were observed. For zone A fracture, the initial crack was restrained, and the joint ultimately fractured in the base mild steel. For zone B fracture, the initial crack progressed through the aluminium sheet just above the Al/steel interface. For zone C fracture, the initial crack proceeded along the steel hook to the aluminium sheet surface. Fracture mode and joint strength were greatly influenced by steel hook size, and the steel hook size was affected by welding parameters and tool scribe height. In this study, the experimental joint strength achieved the calculated joint load limit.  相似文献

Abstract

A prominent benefit of friction stir welding process is to join plates with dissimilar material. In this study, an attempt is made to find effects of tool offset, plunge depth, welding traverse speed and tool rotational speed on tensile strength, microhardness and material flow in dissimilar friction stir welding of AA1100 aluminium alloy and A441 AISI steel plates. Here, one factor at a time experimental design was utilised for conducting the experiments. Results indicated the strongest joint obtained at 1·3?mm tool offset and 0·2?mm plunge depth when the tool rotational speed and linear speed were 800?rev min??1 and 63?mm min??1 respectively. The maximum tensile strength of welded joints with mentioned optimal parameters was 90% aluminium base metal. Fracture locations in tensile test at all samples were in aluminium sides. Owing to the formation of intermetallic compounds at high tool rotational speed, the microhardness of joint interface goes beyond that of A441 AISI steel.  相似文献
