The activation of methane was investigated on a clean and oxidized Ni(100) surface in the pressure range of 0.05–1.0 Torr. The results are most consistent with a precursor mediated mechanism being primarily responsible for the reactive sticking of methane on the clean Ni(100) surface. This contrasts with the Ni(111) surface where dissociative adsorption has been determined to occur predominantly through the direct mechanism. The reaction probability of methane on the NiO films was significantly lower than that observed for the clean Ni(100) surface and exhibited an apparent activation energy of 8.8±1.1 kcal/mol. The results suggest that methane activation on NiO occurs on defect metallic nickel sites. 相似文献

The clean development mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol offers developing countries the opportunity to participate in the effort to reduce global greenhouse gas levels and also benefit from sustainable development opportunities. To date, the majority of CDM investments have gone to emerging markets such as China, India, Brazil, and Mexico, while developing countries such as Nigeria have largely been absent from the program. Chemical sequestration using aqueous ammonia process (AAP) offers a clean low carbon technology for the efficient conversion of captured CO2 into clean CO2 which could be injected into oil field for enhanced oil recovery or as fertilizer source. CDM-CCS (carbon capture and storage) project with AAP has the potential as intervention for leveraging sustainable livelihood development (organic fertilizer for food production) as well as for tackling local (land air and water) and global pollution (reduce methane, SOx and NOx emissions). 相似文献

The dissociative adsorption of hydrogen on oxygen covered Pt(111) has been investigated using molecular beam techniques. The D2-sticking probability has been measured as a function of oxygen coverage (0 < O < 0.25 ML) and angle of incidence for two incident energies, 14 and 63 meV. In addition, the order of the oxygen layer has been measured using thermal He-scattering. The measurements show clear evidence for the existence of two distinct adsorption processes both on the oxygen covered and on the clean Pt(111) surface, i.e. in the limit were O approaches zero: an activated process which depends on the total oxygen coverage and a non activated process which is sensitive only to the amount of locally ordered oxygen. The non activated process can be explained in terms of a mechanism involving a short living precursor state. The picture for the activated process is less clear. The dependence of this process on the incident energy seems strong evidence for a mechanism involving a barrier to dissociation directly upon impact, whereas the dependence on the oxygen coverage supports previously reported experiments which seem to be only compatible with a precursor mechanism. 相似文献
