In this paper, the energy and exergy analysis of single effect and series flow double effect water–lithium bromide absorption systems is presented. A computational model has been developed for the parametric investigation of these systems. Newly developed computationally efficient property equations of water–lithium bromide solution have been used in the computer code. The analysis involves the determination of effects of generator, absorber and evaporator temperatures on the energetic and exergetic performance of these systems. The effects of pressure drop between evaporator and absorber, and effectiveness of heat exchangers are also investigated. The performance parameters computed are coefficient of performance, exergy destruction, efficiency defects and exergetic efficiency. The results indicate that coefficient of performance of the single effect system lies in range of 0.6–0.75 and the corresponding value of coefficient of performance for the series flow double effect system lies in the range of 1–1.28. The effect of parameters such as temperature difference between heat source and generator and evaporator and cold room have also been investigated. Irreversibility is highest in the absorber in both systems when compared to other system components.  相似文献

Mixtures of lithium bromide and organic salts of sodium and potassium (formate, acetate and lactate) have been evaluated as alternative absorbents for absorption refrigeration machines. The main objective is to overpass the limitations of lithium bromide and improve the characteristics and the efficiency of the refrigeration cycle. In order to select the mixture that presents better properties for its employment in absorption refrigeration cycles, a thermodynamic analysis have been done. Density, viscosity, enthalpies of dilution, solubility and vapour pressure data of the proposed mixtures have been measured. A simulation program has been developed to evaluate temperatures, heats exchanged in the different sections and the efficiency of the cycle.  相似文献

This study aims at investigating experimentally and analytically the characteristics and properties of a membrane utilized to design compact absorbers for lithium bromide–water absorption chillers. The main focus of this study are the factors that influence the water vapor transfer flux into a lithium bromide–water solution in confined narrow channels under vacuum conditions, as well as the properties limits for utilization in compact absorber design. The results indicate that the desired membrane characteristics for this application are as follows: high permeability to water vapor, hydrophobic to the aqueous solution with high liquid entry pressure (LEP) to avoid wettability of the membrane pores and no capillary condensation of water vapor to avoid blocking of the pores. For practical use, this membrane should have a thin hydrophobic microporous active layer with a thickness up to 60 μm, mean pore sizes around 0.45 μm and a porosity of up to 80%. The active layer should be attached to a porous support layer to meet the mechanical strength requirements needed for practical use in the absorber of lithium bromide water absorption chillers application.  相似文献

In this paper, the thermoeconomic concept is applied to the optimization of a double-effect H2O/LiBr VAR system, aimed at minimizing its overall product cost. A simplified cost minimization methodology based on the thermoeconomic concept is applied to calculate the economic costs of all the internal flows and products of the system by formulating thermoeconomic cost balances. Once these costs are determined, the system is thermoeconomically evaluated to identify the effects of the design variables on cost of the flows and products. This enables to suggest changes of the design variables that would make the overall system cost-effective. Finally, an approximate optimum design configuration is obtained by means of an iterative procedure. The result shows significant improvement in the system performance. The sensitivity analysis shows that the changes in optimal values of the decision variables are negligible with changes in the fuel cost.  相似文献

The advanced energy storage technology proposed and patented by authors can be applied for cooling, heating, dehumidifying, combined cooling and heating, and so on. It is also called the variable mass energy transformation and storage (VMETS) technology in which the masses in one or two storage tanks change continuously during the energy charging and discharging processes. This paper presents an advanced energy storage system using aqueous lithium bromide (H2O–LiBr) as working fluid. As one of VMETS systems, this system is a closed system using two storage tanks. It is used to shift electrical load and store energy for cooling, heating or combined cooling and heating. It is environmental friendly because the water is used as refrigerant in the system. Its working principle and process of energy transformation and storage are totally different from those of the traditional thermal energy storage (TES) systems. The electric energy in off-peak time is mostly transformed into the chemical potential of the working fluid and stored in the system firstly. And then the potential is transformed into cold or heat energy by absorption refrigeration or heat pump mode when the consumers need the cold or heat energy. The key to the system is to regulate the chemical potential by controlling the absorbent (LiBr) mass fraction or concentration in the working fluid with respect to time. As a result, by using a solution storage tank and a water storage tank, the energy transformation and storage can be carried out at the desirable time to shift electric load efficiently. Since the concentration of the working solution in the VMETS cycle varies continuously, the working process of the VMETS system is dynamic. As the first part of our study, the working principle and flow of the VMETS system were introduced first, and then the system dynamic models were developed. To investigate the system characteristics and performances under full-storage and partial-storage strategies, the numerical simulation will be performed in the subsequent paper. The simulation results will be very helpful for guiding the actual system and device design.  相似文献

In this paper, a new solution cycle in the double absorption heat transformer is presented and the thermodynamic performance of this new cycle is simulated based on the thermodynamic properties of aqueous solution of lithium bromide. The results show that this new cycle is superior to the cycle being studied by some researchers. This new solution cycle has a wider range of operation in which the system maintains the high value of COP and has larger temperature lifts and operation stability. The relationship between the absorber and the absorbing evaporator is more independent and this makes the operation and control of the system more easier.  相似文献

This article presents a thermodynamically consistent set of specific enthalpy, entropy, and heat capacity fields for LiBr–H2O solution. The temperatures span from 0 to 190°C, while the concentrations span from 0 to 75 wt%. The work is based on the empirical inputs of Dühring's gradient and intercept, specific heat capacity data at a reference concentration of 50 wt% and density data. These properties have been evaluated using most of the experimental data available in the literature. The present approach circumvents the issue of negative dew point at low temperatures and high concentrations. The information provided in this article could be useful for designers of absorption chillers.  相似文献

The objectives of this study are to measure the vapor absorption rate and heat transfer rate for falling film flow of binary nanofluids, and to compare the enhancement of heat transfer and mass transfer under the same conditions of nanofluids. The key parameters are the base fluid concentration of LiBr, the concentration of nanoparticles in weight %, and nanoparticle constituents. The binary nanofluids are H2O/LiBr solution with nanoparticles of Fe and Carbon nanotubes (CNT) with the concentrations of 0.0, 0.01 and 0.1 wt %. The vapor absorption rate increases with increasing the solution mass flow rate and the concentration of Fe and CNT nanoparticles. It is found that the mass transfer enhancement is much more significant than the heat transfer enhancement in the binary nanofluids with Fe and CNT. It is also found that the mass transfer enhancement from the CNT nanoparticles becomes higher than that from the Fe nanoparticles. Therefore, the CNT is a better candidate than Fe nanoparticles for absorption performance enhancement in H2O/LiBr absorption system.  相似文献

In ammonia–water absorption refrigeration systems a purification process of the vapours produced in the generator is required. One type of equipment to carry out the purification process is a packed column. However, detailed experimental studies at the normal operating conditions found in ammonia–water absorption refrigeration systems have not been found. An experimental facility has been designed and built to study the ammonia–water rectification in packed columns. Experimental tests have been performed at the normal operating conditions found in the high-pressure stage of a small power ammonia–water absorption refrigeration system. In this paper, the experimental set-up is described and experimental results of the height equivalent to a theoretical plate (HETP) and the volumetric mass transfer coefficient of a rectifying section with the Sulzer BX packing are presented. The HETP values and the experimental mass transfer coefficients are compared with different data and correlations proposed in the literature; it has been found that the differences are appreciable.  相似文献

This paper is the second part of our study on the advanced energy storage system using H2O–LiBr as working fluid. In the first part, the system working principle has been introduced, and the system dynamic models in the operation process have also been developed. Based on the previous research, this paper focuses on the numerical simulation to investigate the system dynamic characteristics and performances when it works to provide combined air-conditioning and hot water supplying for a hotel located near by Yangzi River in China. The system operation conditions were set as follows: the outdoor temperature was between 29 °C and 38 °C, the maximum air-conditioning load was 1450 kW, the total air-conditioning capacity was 19,890 kWh and the 50 °C hot water capacity for showering was 20 tons which needed heat about 721 kWh on a given day. Under these conditions, the system operation characteristics were simulated under the full- and partial-storage strategies. The simulation results predicted the dynamic characteristics and performances of the system, including the temperature and concentration of the working fluid, the mass and energy in the storage tanks, the compressor intake mass or volume flow rate, discharge pressure, compression ratio, power and consumption work, the heat loads of heat exchanger devices in the system and so on. The results also showed that the integrated coefficient of performances (COPint) of the system were 3.09 and 3.26, respectively, under the two storage strategies while the isentropic efficiency of water vapor compressor was 0.6. The simulation results are very helpful for understanding and evaluating the system as well as for system design, operation and control, and device design or selection in detail.  相似文献

In the present work, the spray absorption method is studied for the absorption of ammonia refrigerant vapour by lithium nitrate–ammonia solutions. Mass transfer coefficients attainable using the spray absorption method are estimated. In this study the low-pressure absorber of a double-stage absorption refrigeration system is considered. Results show that the mass transferred is maximum (about 60% of the total) during the deceleration period of the drops. This period represents about 13.4% of the time required to reach the equilibrium state at the end of the absorption chamber. The results show that a time-average mass transfer coefficient equal to km=18.6×10−5 m s−1 may be attained.  相似文献

The paper describes an experimental plant aimed at simulating and verifying the performances of a single-stage H2O–LiBr absorption machine. The machine is water cooled and it is supplied by hot water produced by an electrical boiler; it is possible to simulate different service conditions by varying the temperatures and the flow rate of water in the external circuits. Measurement facilities allow to record in real time all the main operating parameters of internal and external circuits (temperatures, pressures and flow rates). The paper illustrates the characteristics of the machine and of the plant and the results of various experimental campaigns. In particular, the acquisitions on the plant have tested different service conditions by varying the flow rate and the temperature of the supplying hot water; the energy and energy performances of the plant are presented and compared with data from literature and from a simulation code developed for the plant. The results show that the absorption machine can work, with acceptable efficiency, with input temperatures of about 65–70 °C; this result is interesting for a future supply of the machine with solar energy.  相似文献

Emerging triple-effect LiBr–water absorption chillers operate at higher temperatures and pressures than traditional double-effect chillers. However, there is not enough data about thermodynamic properties of LiBr–water solutions at such high temperatures. Using recently measured data of vapor pressure and heat capacity, we have developed the equations which can calculate the vapor pressure, enthalpy and entropy of LiBr solutions at such high temperatures. The developed equations are valid from concentrations of 40–65 wt.% and also from temperatures of 40–210°C. These equations will be very helpful for the modeling and design of triple-effect LiBr–water chillers.  相似文献

Discussion of the feasibility of the Einstein refrigeration cycle   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
A careful modelling of the thermodynamic properties of the water–ammonia–butane system, the working fluid mixture used in the Einstein cycle, with the Patel–Teja cubic equation of state is performed. Numerical simulation is used to investigate the feasibility limits of this refrigeration cycle. Two modified configurations of the cycle are considered. A conflict between the evaporator and the condenser/absorber operating conditions is noted. The condenser/absorber operation needs a higher system pressure, which limits the refrigeration temperature in the case of air-cooling. On the other hand, the condensation of ammonia and the presence of a small quantity of water in the evaporator limit also the refrigeration temperature. In the case of a water-cooled machine, with a condenser/absorber temperature of 30 °C, the cycle COP reaches 0.19 which is still low.  相似文献

The development of an absorption based miniature heat pump system is motivated by the need for removal of increasing rates of heat from high performance electronic chips such as microprocessors. The goal of the present study is to keep the chip temperature near ambient temperature, while removing 100 W of heat load. Water/LiBr pair is used as the working fluid. A novel dual micro-channel array evaporator is adopted, which reduces both the mass flux through each micro-channel, as well as the channel length, thus reducing the pressure drop. Micro-channel arrays for the desorber and condenser are placed in intimate communication with each other using a hydrophobic membrane. This acts as a common interface between the desorber and the condenser to separate the water vapor from LiBr solution. The escaped water vapor is immediately cooled and condensed at the condenser side. For direct air cooling of condenser and absorber, offset strip fin arrays are used. The performance of the components and the entire system is numerically evaluated and discussed.  相似文献

A model for absorption of water vapor into aqueous LiBr flowing over a horizontal smooth tube is developed. The flow is divided into three regimes: (1) falling film in contact with the tube, (2) drop formation at the bottom of the tube, and (3) drop fall between the tubes. Governing equations are formulated for each flow regime, and the variations of solution temperature, LiBr mass fraction, mass absorption rate and heat transfer rate are discussed including the effect of inlet subcooling. It is shown that the temperature variation across the film exhibits a nonlinear profile near the top of the tube and this effect leads to the necessity of a two-dimensional formulation in the falling film regime for accurate prediction. As has been observed previously, the mass fraction boundary layer at the vapor/liquid interface is found to be very thin and this explains the low absorption flux. The model predicts that significant absorption takes place in the drop formation regime with a considerable variation of temperature and mass fraction.  相似文献

This paper presented a novel autocascade refrigeration cycle (NARC) with an ejector. In the NARC, the ejector is used to recover some available work to increase the compressor suction pressure. The NARC enables the compressor to operate at lower pressure ratio, which in turn improves the cycle performance. Theoretical computation model based on the constant pressure-mixing model for the ejector is used to perform a thermodynamic cycle analysis for the NARC with the refrigerant mixture of R23/R134a. The effects of some main parameters on cycle performance were investigated. The results show the NARC has an outstanding merit in decreasing the pressure ratio of compressor as well as increasing the COP. For NARC operated at the condenser outlet temperature of 40 °C, the evaporator inlet temperature of −40.3 °C, and the mass fraction of R23 is 0.15, the pressure ratio of the ejector reaches to 1.35, the pressure ratio of compressor is reduced by 25.8% and the COP is improved by 19.1% over the conventional autocascade refrigeration cycle.  相似文献

This paper describes a detailed procedure into the investigation of optimised control strategies for CO2 cycles in medium temperature retail food refrigeration systems. To achieve this objective, an integrated model was developed composing of a detailed condenser/gas cooler model, a simplified compressor model, an isenthalpic expansion process and constant evaporating temperature and superheating. The CO2 system can operate subcritically or transcritically depending on the ambient temperature. For a transcritical operation, a prediction can be made for optimised refrigerant discharge pressures from thermodynamic cycle calculations. When the system operates in the subcritical cycle, a floating discharge pressure control strategy is employed and the effect of different transitional ambient temperatures separating subcritical and transcritical cycles on system performance is investigated. The control strategy assumes variable compressor speed and adjustable air flow for the gas cooler/condenser to be modulated to achieve the constant cooling load requirement at different ambient conditions.  相似文献
