An ultra-wide-band (UWB) signal is characterized by a radiated spectrum with a very wide bandwidth around a relatively low center frequency. In this paper, we study the reduced fading margin property of UWB signals. To evaluate the fading margin, we compare the performance of UWB signals in an environment with only additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) versus the performance of UWB signals in a dense multipath environment with AWGN. The assumption here is that the presence of multipath causes a small increase in the signal-to-noise ratio required to achieve reasonable levels of bit error rate. A numerical example confirms this assumption, more specifically, the example shows that to achieve a bit error rate equal to 10-5, we require about 13.5 dB in the AWGN case and about 15 dB in the multipath case, resulting in a fading margin of just 1.5 dB. Among existing wireless technologies, ultra‐wideband (UWB) is the most promising solution for indoor location tracking. UWB has a great multipath fading immunity; however, great multipath resolvability alone does not eliminate the effect of non‐line‐of‐sight (NLOS) and multipath propagation. NLOS and multipath propagation in indoor environments can easily produce meters of UWB ranging error. This condition gives an enormous impact on the accuracy of indoor location tracking data. To address this problem, we propose an NLOS detection method using recursive decision tree learning. Using the UWB channel quality indicators information, we develop our model with the Gini index and altered priors splitting criteria. We then validate the constructed model using the 10‐fold cross‐validation method. Our experiment shows that the constructed model has correctly detected 90% of both line‐of‐sight (LOS) and NLOS cases on the seven different indoor environments. The result of this work can be used for the UWB indoor location tracking accuracy improvement.  相似文献

Threshold-Based Time-of-Arrival Estimators in UWB Dense Multipath Channels   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The need for accurate positioning has gained significant interest recently, especially in cluttered environments where signals from satellite navigation systems are not reliable. Positioning systems based on ultrawide bandwidth (UWB) technology have been considered for these environments because UWB signals are able to resolve multipath and penetrate obstacles. These systems usually obtain range measurements from timeof- arrival (TOA) estimation of the first path, which can be a challenge in dense multipath environments. In this paper, we analyze and compare the performance of matched filter (MF) and energy detector (ED) TOA estimators based on thresholding in UWB dense multipath channels. The main advantage of threshold-based estimators is that they have the potential for complete analog implementation and hence they are particularly attractive for applications that require low cost battery-powered devices. Closed-form expressions for the estimator bias and mean square error (MSE) are derived as a function of the signalto- noise ratio. A comparison with results obtained from Monte Carlo simulation confirms the validity of our analytical approach. This analysis enables us to determine the threshold value that minimizes the MSE, a critical parameter for optimal estimator design. A simple criteria to determine the threshold value is also presented. It is shown that the estimation accuracy is mainly affected by the ambiguity in the selection of the correct peak at the output of the MF or ED, caused by the fading characteristics of the first path. We also evaluate the performance loss of ED estimators with respect to MF estimators. Finally, results based on experimental measurements in an indoor residential environment are presented in order to compare the performance of TOA estimators in realistic environments.  相似文献

针对超宽带(UWB)信号的传输特点,以及超宽带信道与窄带信道间的区别,基于传播环境的几何描述,使用伪波束法建立了UWB多径信道有约束的布朗桥模型(BBBM)。根据UWB室内多径信道接收功率的遍历性假设,利用得到的多径信道模型计算室内UWB通信系统的功率分布。对三个典型环境下不同路径的UWB室内信号功率分布进行了仿真分析,计算结果与理论分析一致,表明基于伪波束法的UWB室内信道BBBM模型是正确的,使用BBBM模型可以分析UWB通信系统在室内环境的功率覆盖。  相似文献

该文使用随机桥方法研究超宽带室内多径信道。首先介绍随机桥理论,分析UWB室内多径信道的物理基础;然后对UWB脉冲信号失真问题和脉冲信号的相位问题进行深入分析。把UWB信号在信道中发生的传播损耗和与散射体发生碰撞产生的损耗分开,假设UWB多径信号的传播路径为布朗桥过程,同时采用双值相位假设,得到布朗桥模型信道冲激响应。对有金属网格玻璃门反射的走廊环境进行仿真,得到的UWB信道功率时延分布与公布的UWB信道测量结果一致。  相似文献

A compact ultrawideband (UWB) antenna has been designed for UWB cancer detection systems. The numerical analysis and experimental characterization of a printed monopole antenna fed by a 50-Omega coplanar waveguide (CPW) and operating in a lossy coupling medium is presented. A detailed 3D model of the antenna and the biological environment has been constructed and simulated in XFDTD and HFSS. The near-field pattern of the antenna in the proximity of a multilayer human body model and the effect of the human body on the input matching of the antenna are studied. 使用随机分析方法研究超宽带(UWB)室内多径信道.从UWB信号的基本传播特性出发构建随机分析模型的物理基础.假设UWB信号的多径分量在信道中的传播轨迹是某个随机过程的样本,把UWB信号在信道中传播时发生的传播损耗,和与散射体发生碰撞产生的损耗分开,建立UWB室内多径信道的随机分析模型,包括完全随机的布朗桥模型和有约束的布朗桥模型.使用有约束的布朗桥模型对假设的有8个散射体的不完全随机分布室内环境,以及有金属网格玻璃门反射的走廊环境进行仿真,得到了具有明显成簇现象的UWB信道的功率延迟分布.仿真结果与已公布的UWB信道实测结果具有很好的相似性.  相似文献

In this paper, a two-element UWB MIMO antenna with bi-directional radiation pattern is designed for superior UWB MIMO performance. The designed antenna adopts asymmetric coplanar waveguide ground feeding. The proposed antenna ECC is lower than the ECC of its omni-directional peer antenna. Simulated and measured ECC is lower than 0.016 over the entire ultra-wide bandwidth (3.1–10.6 GHz). The isolation between elements of the designed antenna is 20–25 dB exceeding the average in recently published works. The designed antenna has a diversity gain of almost 10 dB and average multiplexing efficiency of 85% over the entire ultra-wide bandwidth. The antenna preserves radiation efficiency higher than 0.96 and gain 3 dB. The diversity performance of the proposed UWB MIMO antenna is proven through real rich-multipath indoor environment measurements. Stationarity of the elected channel is evaluated through 100 successive measurements separated by a 3-min period for 5 h long. The measured spatial correlation coefficients are much lower than 0.5 in different scenarios.  相似文献

The Ricean K-factor and antenna diversity properties for indoor industrial environments have been characterized for 433 and 868 MHz. The high amount of metallic structures gives a multipath environment that heavily differs from other environments e.g. indoor office environments. The results show that low correlation between receiving antennas can be achieved for shorter antenna distances than in other environments.  相似文献

Ultrawideband (UWB) technology is characterized by transmitting extremely short duration radio impulses. To improve its multiple-access capability, the UWB technology can be combined with traditional spread-spectrum techniques. This paper demonstrates the influence of spatial and temporal diversities on the performance of direct-sequence (DS) UWB multiple-access systems in dense multipath environments. Numerical results show that the bit error rate performance of the DS-UWB system can be improved significantly by increasing the number of antenna array elements and/or by adding more multipaths coherently at the receiver. Furthermore, this paper studies the impact of array geometry on system performance and shows that a rectangular array can capture more energy and thus can offer better performance than a uniform linear array.  相似文献

首次研究分析脉冲重复频率(PRF)对密集多径衰减信道下采用 THSS 和 PPM 的 UWB 系统 BER 性能的影响。通过使用混合选择/最大比率结合分集接收机(H-S/MRC)并利用虚拟分支技术,首次推导出基于 PRF、选择并结合的多径成分数量 L 以及信道的多径扩频的 UWB 系统准确 BER 表达式,并对 BER 性能进行分析和仿真评估。结果表明:在密集多径衰减环境下,不仅仅脉冲波形和 L,而且 PRF 对 UWB 系统 BER 性能影响极大。当固定 L 和脉冲波形时,增大 PRF 将大大降低 UWB 系统 BER 性能。  相似文献

针对惯性导航系统误差随时间累积和超宽带(UWB)定位受到非视距问题、多径效应和人体影响出现粗大误差的问题,提出了一种基于容错决策树的UWB辅助人员室内惯性定位方法。该方法提出并采用陀螺仪高精度分段拟合误差补偿模型,抑制惯性导航误差漂移;同时在UWB辅助人员室内惯性定位的基础上,构建惯性导航与UWB单点定位数据共同作用的容错决策树判定模型,剔除UWB定位的粗大误差因子,进而对惯性导航和UWB的参数应用扩展卡尔曼滤波,实现UWB辅助增强惯性定位。根据实验验证表明,在复杂狭窄巷道环境,该方法将距离均方误差占路线长度的比例从6.02%提升到0.76%;在常规方正室内环境,该方法将最大误差占路线长度的比例从2.207%提升到0.635%。实现了长时间的连续可靠定位,具有较强的工程应用价值。  相似文献

提出了一种全新超宽带(UWB,ultra-widebandwidth)室内视距(LOS,line-of-sight)环境的多径传播模型(简称多径模型)。该模型以南加州大学UltRa实验室的UWB室内LOS环境实测数据为基础,信道冲激响应具有两个确定的簇,每个簇内具有随机到达的多径射线。模型有效地利用特定环境的几何参数数据,在预测室内LOS环境的小尺度多径传播特性(平均附加时延、RMS时延扩展、最强多径数量)上较传统的统计模型更加简化和准确,与传统的确定模型相比,明显地降低了模型建立的复杂度。  相似文献

Ultra-wideband (UWB) transmissions have well-documented advantages for low-power, peer-to-peer, and multiple-access communications. Space-time coding (STC), on the other hand, has gained popularity as an effective means of boosting rates and performance. Existing UWB transmitters rely on a single antenna, while ST coders have mostly focused on digital linearly modulated transmissions. In this paper, we develop ST codes for analog (and possibly nonlinearly) modulated multiantenna UWB systems. We show that the resulting analog system is able to collect not only the spatial diversity, but also the multipath diversity inherited by the dense multipath channel, with either coherent or noncoherent reception. Simulations confirm a considerable increase in both bit-error rate performance and immunity against timing jitter, when wedding STC with UWB transmissions.  相似文献

The performances of a single-antenna handheld receiver in detecting a narrowband signal in a Rayleigh fading environment that is temporally static but decorrelates spatially are analysed. Of interest is comparing the detection performance of a static antenna with that of a moving antenna subject to constant processing time. It is shown that the net processing gain resulting from randomly moving the antenna relative to keeping it static can be large, namely over 11 dB in some cases, which is significant for numerous indoor applications. It is further demonstrated that, for a given utilisation scenario, there is an optimum number of spatial samples that maximise the processing gain advantage of the moving antenna. Generally, if the spatial trajectory of the antenna becomes too large, then the loss associated with the signal decorrelation dominates and undermines the gains achieved by the increased spatial diversity. Practical implementation issues including the sensitivity of the proposed method to trajectory estimation are investigated. An extensive set of measurements based on CDMA 2000 signals propagated from outdoor terrestrial base stations and captured in indoor multipath environments using static and moving antennas are utilised to experimentally substantiate these theoretical findings.  相似文献

为了提高室内环境下对目标的定位精度,提出一种室内单站精确定位技术. 该技术利用室内电波传播多径效应构成的复杂信道信息,基于机器学习,构建卷积神经网络架构,通过卷积提取不同位置目标到达接收传感器的多径时延特征信息;然后通过多层全连接层深度神经网络的模型训练,将基于复杂信道的定位问题转化为回归模型的问题,建立信道指纹与位置之间的非线性关系来完成被动定位. 训练和仿真结果表明,在室内复杂电波传播环境下,基于神经网络的室内单站精确定位技术能够实现单接收站情况下对目标的精确定位. 本文主要对3×3网格大小的金属散射体进行定位,接收站位于室内时,平均定位误差为0.621个网格(12.42 cm);接收站位于室外时,能够分别实现信噪比20 dB、30 dB、40 dB情况下44.09 cm、21.42 cm、20.96 cm的平均定位误差. 本文方法为室内复杂环境下的目标定位提供了一种新的定位方法.  相似文献

Time of arrival (TOA) estimation used with ultra wideband (UWB) transmission is currently the most popular technique for accurate indoor geolocation. Due to severe indoor multipath conditions, these techniques often suffer from significant inaccuracy in location estimation. In this paper, we introduce a model for the error in estimated distance as measured from the estimated TOA of the direct path (DP) in a typical multipath indoor environment. The TOA estimation error has two components, (1) the errors caused by the multipath dispersion affecting any signal path and (2) the errors caused by undetected direct path (UDP) conditions. The statistical behavior of this error is also a function of the system bandwidth. The empirical data from UWB indoor measurements in an office building are used to design a model for the distance measurement error. This model relates the behavior of the two components of the TOA estimation error to the bandwidth of the system.  相似文献

In this paper, a uniform circular antenna array (UCAA) combining genetic algorithm (GA) or asynchronous particle swarm (APSO) for finding out global maximum of multi-objective function in indoor ultra-wideband (UWB) communication system is proposed. The algorithm is used to synthesize the radiation pattern of the directional UCAA to reduce the bit error rate (BER), to increase received energy and channel capacity in indoor UWB communication system. Using the impulse response of multipath channel, the BER of the synthesized antenna pattern on binary antipodal-pulse amplitude modulation system can be calculated. Based on topography of the antenna and the shooting and bouncing ray/image techniques, the synthesized problem can be reformulated into a multi-objective optimization problem which would be solved by the GA and APSO. Numerical results show that the fitness value and convergence speed by APSO is better than those by GA. The results also show that for multi-objective problem APSO compared to GA can reduce the BER substantially. Moreover, APSO can get better results for both line-of-sight and non line-of-sight cases.  相似文献

从随机桥过程出发引入随机波束概念,使用随机波束研究超宽带(UWB)室内多径信道的传播特性.将UWB信号多径传播轨迹视作随机过程的样本,得到建模多径信道传播特性的随机波束.使用随机波束构建UWB信道的多径传播模型,并给出使用随机波束方法分析UWB室内多径信道特性的算法.使用该信道模型对实际传播环境进行仿真分析,并与其它建模UWB多径信道的方法进行了比较.仿真得到的UWB信道的功率延迟分布特性与实验测量的结果非常一致,证明此方法的有效性.  相似文献
