Classic telecommunication methods and Internet services are converging. For this reason Telecommunication companies are looking
for new ways to include their services in Web 2.0 applications. A strong candidate for the telecommunication infrastructure
of the future is the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), an all IP telecommunication core network. In the last few years a new
kind of application has increasingly gained popularity: they are known as widgets. Widgets are small but fancy applications
based on Web technologies that are very easy to develop. This paper describes a new approach to combining widgets with telecommunication
features, such as Voice over IP calls or messaging, using IMS. Our solution includes a new abstraction layer with interfaces
for the different telecommunication capabilities. Moreover, we implemented a widget engine that makes these telecommunication
interfaces available to its widgets. Our solution allows the rapid development of new IMS client applications and a short
time-to-market. The combination of other Web 2.0 services with IMS features becomes an exploitable opportunity. 相似文献

Web与IMS分别是互联网业务与电信网业务的主流技术,这两类业务的融合是当前的研究热点。概述了Web与IMS业务融合的实质与场景,总结了业务融合的两种技术方案,即基于集成应用服务器的方案与基于ParlayX网关的方案,并从适用场景、Web服务支持、通信效率及可实现性等方面进行了分析比较。两种方案在适用场景和可实现性方面相当,但是第一种方案具有更高的通信效率,并且支持更多的Web服务模型。因此在通常的应用场合下,可优先考虑采用基于集成应用服务器的业务融合方案。 相似文献

随着Web 服务技术的不断成熟,其在异构系统集成应用中的优势逐渐显现,基于Web服务的应用集成技术成为企业信息系统研究的热点。使用方便、实用的Web服务应用接口,也成了互联网通信技术的发展趋势。文中对这一关键技术进行了研究,取得了初步理论与软件成果。另外,文中深入研究了Web服务的基本原理与实现技术、基于Web服务的应用系统集成技术、Web服务应用接口系统的开发原理与技术,提出了一套 Web 服务开发方法、Web 服务应用接口系统的模型框架。在理论研究的基础上,基于Microsoft.NET2003环境,文中还实现了基于模式引导的应用接口包装器的生成与维护软件,其可为不同的应用系统提供Web服务的应用接口,方便客户端调用,还可以简化Web服务应用的编程过程,提高了应用系统开发效率。 相似文献

Web Services offer the promise of allowing BT, along with its customers, partners and suppliers, to be able to assemble distributed
applications that span multiple systems and organisations. The commercial drivers for this are cost reduction, new revenue
opportunities and a better service through the use of automated end-to-end business processes. To achieve these benefits,
BT will require a fully managed internal Web Services infrastructure.
At the same time, creating a managed platform for our customers' Web Services deployments provides us with a new business
opportunity. Early experience suggests that 20% of the effort in creating a commercial Web Services application is expended
in defining the commercial opportunity, the service interfaces and server implementations. The remaining 80% is spent on ensuring
that the operational and deployment environment is adequate to support business-grade service levels. Managing that 80% of
the problem for our customers is a business opportunity for BT.
This paper describes the requirements for a management platform for Web Services and then goes on to describe some of the
value added business services that this platform can support.

The IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) has been recognized as a reference next-generation network architecture for offering multimedia services over an Internet Protocol (IP)-based infrastructure. One of the key benefits of the IMS is efficient and flexible introduction of new services and access to third-party application providers, thanks to standard interfaces and standardized service capabilities. To support novel media-rich applications across a wide range of user devices and access networks, IMS must support negotiable quality of service (QoS) for IP multimedia sessions. In this article, we describe the application-level QoS signaling as specified by the 3GPP and propose some enhancements based on advanced QoS parameter matching and optimization functionality to be included along the signaling path. We outline various signaling flow scenarios and discuss them in the context of a case study involving an IMS-supported 3D virtual environment, featuring a treasure-hunt-like game. 相似文献

Internet telephony enables a wealth of new service possibilities. Traditional telephony services such as call forwarding, transfer, and 800 number services, can be enhanced by interaction with e-mail, Web, and directory services. Additional media types, like video and interactive chat, can be added as well. One of the challenges in providing these services is how to effectively program them. Programming these services requires decisions regarding where the code executes, how it interfaces with the protocols that deliver the services, and what level of control the code has. In this article we consider this problem in detail. We develop requirements for programming Internet telephony services, and we show that at least two solutions are required-one geared for service creation by trusted users (such as administrators), and one geared for service creation by untrusted users (such as consumers). We review existing techniques for service programmability in the Internet and in the telephone network, and extract the best components of both. BT has commenced the switch-over to its 21st Century Network — an all-IP based network which will reduce costs and provide
a more ‘innovation-friendly’ platform where exciting new services can be rolled out much more quickly and cost effectively.
Increasing computing power and openness on the client device coupled with the move to an IP environment fundamentally alters
the competitive landscape for service provision, making it much harder to control the customer’s service experience. Further
complexity is introduced by convergence — the requirement for services to run across a multitude of networks and devices.
The challenge is to create an infrastructure capable of delivering the exciting new own-build and third-party converged services
users want while preserving ease of use and security.
The IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) element of the 21CN architecture is a key enabler in reaching these goals. Alcatel-Lucent
is a vendor with a strong track-record both in supplying IMS products and in ongoing research activities, considering improvements
and extensions to the current IMS standards.
This paper summarises activities to date in a research collaboration between BT and Alcatel-Lucent which is looking at the
area of improved intelligence in the provision of converged services over an IMS architecture. The collaboration utilises
capabilities produced by Alcatel-Lucent’s research department called the Reachability Server to implement a number of novel
converged service scenarios. The paper introduces the Reachability Server, describes the collaboration, summarises the scenario
implementation work completed to date and presents a number of conclusions and observations. 相似文献
