Detailed design procedures are presented for a practical elliptic-function filter form capable of achieving high selectivity in a very compact configuration. This filter form, called the digital elliptic because of its digital construction and elliptic function response, can provide either bandpass or bandstop characteristics. Examples are given to illustrate typical design procedures for both bandpass and bandstop applications. Experimental results are presented for an octave bandstop design.  相似文献

Resonant performances of the hexagonal resonators are analysed, and new tri-mode tri-band bandpass filter which operates at 2.5/2.8, 5.2/5.5 and 7.9/8.5 GHz with insertion loss of no more than 1.3 dB is presented by using a single fractal hexagonal resonator. It shows with fractal-shaped defection in hexagonal patch, filter performance is greatly improved and dual and tri-band bandpass filters can be implemented. The tri-band designs are demonstrated by experiment. The new hexagonal filter has outstanding advantages of multiple-band operation, miniature size, simple and compact structure without resonator coupling gaps. All these features are quite useful for applications in RF circuits.  相似文献

提出了一种新颖的基于缺陷地结构(DGS)的双模双通带滤波器.该滤波器由印制板顶面的一个方形谐振单元和另一个巧妙嵌入在印制板底面DGS中的方形谐振单元并联构成,具有结构紧凑、易于加工的特点.每个谐振单元都具有双模单通带传输特性,可通过公共馈线同时激励实现双模双通带滤波.两个谐振单元的谐振频率相对可调,提高了设计上的灵活性.为减少辐射损耗并改善高频通带插损,使用准共面波导缺陷地结构对底面谐振单元进行了改进.最后,实验制作了两种双模双通带滤波器,测试结果与仿真结果吻合较好.  相似文献

This paper presents a brief introduction to GaAs/GaAlAs heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs) for microwave and millimetre-wave power applications. The theoretical advantages of the heterojunction are outlined and the benefits of its incorporation in DC, RF and power devices are discussed. The problems inherent in the realization of HBTs in terms of device design, epitaxial material growth and device fabrication are discussed and the performance characteristics for practical devices presented. The paper concludes with a look at state-of-the-art GaAs/GaAlAs HBT performance and its standing with respect to the competing technologies of the metal semiconductor field effect transistor (MESFET) and the high electron mobility transistor (HEMT).  相似文献

A novel compact and simple microstrip patch bandpass filter structure using only one resonator is presented. This filter has two transmission zeros on both sides of the passband. This letter presents a compact interdigital stripline bandpass filter embedded in low temperature cofired ceramic for 5-GHz wireless LAN applications, including design, simulation, fabrication, and measurements. The filter measures 8 mm/spl times/7 mm/spl times/1.1 mm and exhibits an insertion loss of 3.6 dB, a return loss of 20 dB, and a 212-MHz passband with the midband frequency at 5.28 GHz. The filter is highly reproducible with good tolerance. A low noise amplifier (LNA) built on the top of the LTCC substrate with an embedded filter has the same bandwidth and midband frequency as those of the filter. Using this filter and an integrated chip, a small RF front-end receiver has been achieved.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel compact microstrip dual-band (DB) bandpass filter with high selectivity for wireless local area networks applications is proposed. The design procedure is based on unbalanced composite right/left-handed (UCRLH) transmission lines (TLs). The DB features can be achieved by unbalancing the CRLH transmission line. The necessary conditions to obtain a discontinuous transition between the left- and right-handed bands, intended to provide UCRLLH TL, are investigated. The application of this technique to design of compact DB filters is illustrated. The structure of the proposed DB filter is implemented by a series interdigital capacitor located between two microstrip lines that shorted to the ground plane by vias. The vias with microstrip lines acting as a shunt connected inductor while the series capacitor is realized by interdigital capacitor. The design procedure based on a simple equivalent circuit is also introduced. The proposed filter has advantages such as compact size, easy fabrication, high selectivity, low insertion loss, high return loss and, design flexibility. To validate the proposed technique, the proposed DB filter has been fabricated and tested. Good agreement has been found between simulation and measurement results. The total size of the proposed UCRLH DB filter is 0.17 λg × 0.048 λg, where λg is the guided wavelength of the lower pass-band. The size of the proposed DB filter is more compact in comparison with known similar filters.  相似文献

This paper introduces a micromachined thick single-metal-layer high aspect-ratio coplanar waveguide (CPW) wideband bandpass filter with compact unit cells based on the electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) concept. The filter is miniaturized as a result of using the EBG concept in design, and also by realizing high aspect-ratio structures with polymer-based deep X-ray lithography fabrication. Cascaded unit cells in the EBG model consist of capacitive and inductive parallel periodically loaded transmission lines, which determine the filter bandwidth. Compact unit cells are realized by using high aspect-ratio CPW stepped-impedance resonators. The main advantage of this approach is that the high aspect-ratio CPW structures make short unit cells practically realizable, resulting in a compact filter structure. A bandpass filter with 47% bandwidth is designed and fabricated using deep X-ray lithography, and the performance and physical size is compared to a conventional quarter-wavelength-based admittance inverter filter.   相似文献

A variety of quasi-planar low-pass, bandpass, and bandstop filters suitable for millimeter-wave applications is reviewed. The emphasis is on ladder-shaped E-plane bandpass filters to highlight their advantages as well as limitations in terms of design, performance, and manufacturing. To extend their range of application it is suggested that E-plane filters be cascaded for better passband separation. A modified finline filter is presented to improve the performance and manufacturing of filters in waveguides below cutoff. It is shown that plated through-holes can simplify filter housing fabrication and that surface-metallized composite housings are a lightweight and low-cost alternative to metal housings  相似文献

In this paper, a novel three-pole coupled-line bandpass filter with a microstrip configuration is presented. Presented bandpass filters use defected ground structure (DGS) sections to simultaneously realize a resonator and an inverter. The proposed coupled-line bandpass filter provides compact size with low insertion-loss characteristic. Furthermore, a DGS shape for a microstrip line is newly proposed. The proposed DGS unit structure has a resonance characteristic in some frequency band. The proposed coupled-line filter can provide attenuation poles for wide stopband characteristic due to resonance characteristic of DGS. The equivalent circuit for the proposed DGS unit section is described. The equivalent-circuit parameters for DGS are extracted by using a three-dimensional finite-element-method calculation and simple circuit analysis method. A design method for the proposed coupled-line filter is derived based on coupled-line filter theory and the equivalent circuit of the DGS. A compact Chebyshev-function bandpass filter using dual-mode patch resonators is proposed. The filter presents 75% size reduction compared with the conventional Chebyshev bandpass filter using two square patch resonators. In this paper, a new type of device called dual-band coupled-line bandpass balun filter is presented. Based on the traditional coupled-line filter theory and Marchand balun configuration, a new device with both filter-type, as well as balun-type characteristics is proposed. The new device utilizes -type transmission-line stepped-impedance resonators to achieve a dual-band operation. Besides providing a simple design procedure for the device, its working mechanism is also revealed mathematically. A prototype balun filter operating at 2.4 and 5.8 GHz has been realized using traditional printed circuit board technology to validate the proposed concept and theory, showing promising application potentials for future multiband RF wireless transceiver modules. Experimental measurements show good agreement with analytical and computer simulations.  相似文献

This letter presents a new type of compact ultra-wideband (UWB) bandpass filter (BPF) based on interference techniques. The structure is formed by a short-ended coupled line coupler connected in parallel to a transmission line. The transmission and reflection zeros of the filter can be controlled through the analytical equations and rules given. Compact dual-band bandpass filter (BPF) for the 5th generation mobile communication technology (5G) radio frequency (RF) front-end applications was presented based on multilayer stepped impedance resonators (SIRs). The multilayer dual-band SIR BPF can achieve high selectivity and four transmission zeros (TZs) near the passband edges by the quarter-wavelength tri-section SIRs. The multilayer dual-band SIR BPF is fabricated on a 3-layer FR-4 substrate with a compact dimension of 5.5 mm ×5.0 mm ×1.2 mm. The measured two passbands of themultilayer dual-band SIR BPF are 3.3 GHz -3.5 GHz and 4.8 GHz -5.0 GHz with insertion loss (IL) less than 2 dB respectively. Both measured and simulated results suggest that it is a possible candidate for the application of 5G RF front-end at sub-6 GHz frequency band.  相似文献

A continuously tunable RF/microwave photonic bandpass filter that simultaneously achieves high skirt selectivity and high stopband attenuation is presented. It is based on controlling the signal polarisation state in a reflective amplified recirculating delay line loop with a polariser at the output. A technique to overcome the phase noise limitation in the structure is also presented. Experimental results demonstrate continuous tuning of the high-performance photonic bandpass filter and a continuously tunable photonic bandpass filter with a low-noise performance.  相似文献

A microstrip interlocked-coupled bandpass filter is proposed with a markedly compact structure. The low-impedance open-end line of the quarter-wavelength Stepped-Impedance Resonator (SIR) is replaced by two open-end high-impedance lines, which not only facilitate the coupling mechanism but also provide the strong electric coupling between resonators. With the proper utilization of folded SIRs, the occupied area of coupled-resonator pair can be reduced. By applying the proposed coupled-resonator pair, the passband filter with the compact size can be realized. Good agreement between measured and simulated results is observed. The proposed filter is desirable for compact and high-performance microwave circuit applications.  相似文献

A novel compact microstrip bandpass filter is proposed using a half-wavelength (/spl lambda//2) microstrip line resonator and an end-coupling resonator. The filter has two transmission zeros at both low and high rejection bands, as well as low insertion loss and compact design by giving two paths to the input signals. A demonstration filter has been designed and tested. Theoretical and experimental results are presented.  相似文献
