In this work the fabrication of new mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs) of Matrimid® and activated carbon (AC) for gas separation is reported. The aim is the fabrication of membranes that have better gas permeation properties compared to the pristine Matrimid® membranes. The membranes were thermally and morphologically characterized, and the gas transport properties of single gases were estimated by a variety of methods. It has been found that with an increase of the AC content the selectivity remained stable for the different gases despite the marked increase in the effective permeability of the pure gases.  相似文献

Non-porous Membranes and their Applications . In recent years membrane systems have gained increasing industrial importance in the separation of multicomponent mixtures. This also applies to porous membranes in which the mass transfer is effected by the difference in electrochemical potential of the permeating components on the feed and permeate sides. After presenting the construction and the mode of operation of non-porous membranes, the article considers industrial membrane processes. Special attention is focussed on development work starting from the research results obtained in the laboratory and culminating in the industrial application. The development of membranes with support-bound ?passive”? or ?active”? transport, such as encountered in some biological membranes, offers interesting insights.  相似文献

Membranes for Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells The polymer electrolyte membrane is the heart of hydrogen fuelled Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells (PEFC) and methanol fuelled Direct Methanol Fuel Cells (DMFC). Membranes of sulfonated fluoropolymers are already commercially available. Important goals for research and development are for PEFCs an increased operating temperature without the need for additional humidification and for DMFC the reduction of methanol transport through the membrane. The use of non‐fluorinated polymers aims at a reduction in membrane cost and environmental hazards. Membranes already in industrial product development are considered as well as novel membrane concepts in fundamental research.  相似文献
