The four‐ball wear test machine is one of the most widely used tribological tools in both research and industry. In general, the test geometry is self‐aligning and minimises the opportunity for random variation. Nonetheless, accurate control of the test parameters remains vital to repeatability and reproducibility. The present paper details a number of modifications to a commercially available test apparatus that have been found to improve accuracy. The applied load on some apparatus was found to vary from the correct value, probably due to frictional drag in the loading system. A feedback control loop was designed and fitted to the applied load mechanism, which resulted in significantly improved accuracy. Finally, the apparatus was fully automated, with complete computer control of all test parameters. Under this, following cleaning and assembly of the test specimens, the required test procedure could be selected from a menu of standard methods, and the computer program then adjusted the test parameters according to the method selected, greatly reducing the possibility of operator error. 相似文献

In this paper, we have presented the first proposal to apply measurement system analysis (MSA) in fuzzy environment. Nowadays, because the quality control techniques are applied a lot in manufacturing, research and development environments, many decisions are made in processes and equipment evaluation, control, and improvement. Besides, the philosophy of measurement system analysis (MSA) depends on measurement error which hides true process capability; therefore, it must be implemented prior to any process improvement activities to minimize the measurement errors. Since the capability of each quality system is related to the accuracy of its measurement system, this research develops a novel methodology to increase precision and accuracy of MSA. To do so analyzing measurement systems under fuzziness of indices are investigated to make the environment more realistic. In this article, not only fuzzy measurement system analysis with gauge repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R) index as a triangular fuzzy number is proposed, but a fuzzy measurement system analysis a fuzzy expert system is presented to make more reliable and appropriate decisions. At the end, the applicability of the proposed methodology has been demonstrated within a case study in automotive parts industry to show impact of uncertainty in the reality. 相似文献

Wire bending due to gap force is a major cause of imprecision in WEDM applications. To achieve higher precision and accuracy the knowledge of gap force and wire lag is extremely essential. In the present research, an in depth study on wire lag phenomenon has been carried out. A novel method to measure gap force intensity and wire lag under any given machining condition has been proposed by developing an analytical model. Experiments were carried out to verify the proposed model. Beside this, the impact of wire deflection on profile accuracy during cutting cylindrical job has been investigated. Based upon the developed analytical model an effective method has been proposed to eliminate this inaccuracy using wire lag compensation technique. The research finding will lead to better understanding of the gap force phenomena and will promote significant development in the domain of high precision WEDM. 相似文献

Measurements of geometric accuracy in machine tools, especially of errors in moving machine parts against their theoretical axes, are taken by means of displacement pick-ups moving along a reference standard1,2, such as a cylindrical test specimen. This procedure is impeded by physical form errors in the standards, especially for heavy machines, as well as by adjustment errors in the standards against the machine part to be measured. These disadvantages can be avoided by using a non-material standard like a laser beam with a four quadrant photodiode as sensor and a special analysis of the measurement data. 相似文献
