A 1.3 μm fibre laser consisting of a 1000 ppm (mol) Pr3+ -doped fluoride glass fibre with dichroic mirrors coated onto the fibre endfaces and an Nd-YLF pump laser is presented. The output mirror reflectivity R is calculated to be 50% at the lasing wavelength. Producing a maximum output power of 50 mW. The laser threshold and slope efficiency are 300 mW and 8%, respectively. A neodymium-doped fibre laser has been actively mode-locked to produce pulses shorter than 120 ps using an intracavity acousto-optic loss modulator. The laser operated at 1.088 μm at an average power of 5 mW when pumped by an injection-locked diode array, which coupled approximately 40 mW of 0.82 μm into the fibre. 1.064 mu m upconversion pumping was used to operate a highly efficient CW and Q-switched thulium (Tm/sup 3+/)-doped fluoride fibre laser at around 1.47 mu m. The maximum CW output power was 100 mW for a launched pump power of 570 mW. The threshold power was 200 mW, the slope efficiency 27% and the wavelength width 20 nm. 360 mW fibre output power and excellent wavelength stability within 0.6 nm over a temperature range from 10 to 70/spl deg/C in a grating-stabilised AlGalaAs/InP 14xx-nm pump laser is reported. Blue semiconductor laser pumped continuous-wave laser oscillation of a Pr-doped ZrF/sub 4/-BaF/sub 2/-LaF/sub 3/-AlF/sub 3/-NaF fibre in the red spectral range is reported for the first time. The pump power is provided by a frequency-doubled optically pumped semiconductor laser system. When pumped with 300 mW at a wavelength of 479.7 nm, the Pr/sup 3+/-laser emitted 94 mW of output power at a wavelength of 635 nm. Threshold pump power and slope efficiency with respect to the incident pump power were determined to be 49.7 mW and 41.5%, respectively.  相似文献

High power 1.02 mu m single spatial mode laser diodes with low-loss (3.3 cm/sup -1/) GaInP buried waveguides have been developed for pumping Pr/sup 3+/-doped optical fibre amplifiers. A maximum CW light output power of 415 mW and an optical fibre output of 71 mW at 200 mA have been achieved. A short-cavity fibre laser oscillator emitting 12 ps-long pulses at the fundamental cavity frequency of 550 MHz is reported. The simple, stable and ultra-compact laser cavity consists of a short active fibre section which is spliced to a narrowband fibre Bragg grating, and a butt-coupled semiconductor saturable absorber mirror. Only 8 cm of the heavily Er/Yb co-doped phosphate-glass active fibre is sufficient to produce as much as 775 mW of average output power at 1.5 /spl mu/m directly from the oscillator.  相似文献

Efficient CW operation of a 2.71 μm Er,Pr:ZBLAN double-clad fibre laser pumped with a single diode laser operating at a wavelength of 975 nm is described. A maximum output power of 0.5 W and a slope efficiency of 25% (with respect to the launched pump power) were obtained. A single-polarisation, single-frequency, ytterbium-doped silica fibre laser has been demonstrated in a 2 cm linear cavity. The output power reaches 35 mW with an optical signal-to-noise ratio greater than 65 dB. A polarisation-maintaining fibre Bragg grating is used as the polarisation-dependent reflector to generate the single-polarisation output with the polarisation extinction ratio greater than 20 dB.
