The development of sealed XeCl (λ∼308 nm), KrCl (λ∼222 nm), and XeI (λ∼253 nm) excilamps excited by a capacitive rf discharge is reported. It is shown that highly efficient emission of exciplex molecules is achieved under capacitive discharge excitation and the emitter has a simple design. An average emission power of 3W was obtained with a ∼12% efficiency and the lifetime of the sealed excilamps was longer than 1000 h. Pis’ma Zh. Tekh. Fiz. 25, 27–32 (November 12, 1999)  相似文献

An investigation is made of the locking of the relaxation oscillations in a fiber ring laser with an active medium of phosphorus aluminosilicate glass doped with erbium and ytterbium ions. It is shown that stable pulse-periodic emission in the 1.5 /gmm range can be achieved at a pulse repetition frequency between 80 and 160 kHz with a pulse length of 2–3 μs. An InGaAsP/InP separate-confinement double heterostructure having a broad gain profile was used to fabricate superluminescent diodes having high optical power (40 mW), a broad radiation spectrum (65 nm at half-width), and low percent modulation (<1%). The relation between the polarization state of light in a twisted single-mode optical fiber possessing linear birefringence and the twist angle of the fiber is considered for the case of a fiber stretched in a straight line. Results of optimizing a λ=175 nm ArCl(B-X) emitter pumped by a transverse volume discharge are presented. The formation of ArCl(B) molecules was investigated in a plasma formed by mixtures of rare gases with HCl and Cl2 molecules. It is shown that the Cl2 molecule is the most efficient chlorine carrier and that neon at pressures ≥ 50 kPa is the most efficient buffer gas. Pis’ma Zh. Tekh. AlGaAsSb lasers with different Al concentrations in the active and confinement regions are fabricated and investigated. The structures lase in the region ∼1.6 μm. The AlGaAsSb solid solution in the active region is a direct-gap material with a small energy separation (∼56 meV) between the direct-gap Γ minimum and the indirect-gap L minimum of the conduction band. The lasers have a single-mode spectrum with a predominant longitudinal mode in the spatial distribution of the emission. The lasers operate at room temperature in a pulsed mode. Pis’ma Zh. Tekh. It is shown that the precision of white-light interferometers with a single-mode fiber linking the sensing and processing interferometers can be enhanced by incorporating discrete or all-fiber “time-average” radiation depolarizers (Billings depolarizers). Relations are given to describe the dependence of the output signal and the “ zero” drift of white-light interferometers on the polarization characteristics of the optical channel. It is shown that the symmetry properties of the locally isotropic inhomogeneous medium of an optical fiber cause circular and linear topological birefringence. The circular birefringence δn C in graded-index fibers is ∼(λ/ρ)2 (where λ is the wavelength and ρ is the core radius), while the linear birefringence is δn L ∼(λ/ρ)3. This topological birefringence is characterized not only by the polarization basis (as in crystals for example) but also by the magnitude and sign of the topological charge of the guided vortex. This topological birefringence forms the basis of the instability of the fiber IV vortex and is observed experimentally as the combined Rytov-Magnus effect. Pis’ma Zh. Tekh. Data are given for an infrared detector based on a semiconductor injection laser, which operates at a wavelength of 3.3 μm and is coupled by a chalcogenide optical fiber to an acoustooptic modulator made from an amorphous Si-Te alloy. A period-chirped long-period fiber grating (CLPFG), using ordinary multi-mode fiber (MMF), for broadband mode conversion (60 nm bandwidth of coupling efficiency >90%) has been proposed. Through using such a MMF-CLPFG, a broad-spectrum pulse can be converted into LP 02 for femtosecond pulse distortion-free delivery in MMF. The simulation shows that the pulse suffers less nonlinear distortion than that in a single-mode fiber. In addition, the negative pre-chirp introduced by MMF-CLPFG can offset the linear and positive SPM-induced frequency chirp and thus compress the pulse. Using this scheme, an initial 18 kW peak power 75 fs pulse distortion-free delivery in MMF has been numerically demonstrated.  相似文献

The conditions for formation of nanosize gratings (∼100 nm) of ferromagnetic stripes in the illumination of thin-film (10–15 nm) paramagnetic Fe-Cr mixtures by interfering beams from an excimer laser are investigated. The ferromagnetic ordering arises as a result of the thermally stimulated clustering of Fe atoms. The gratings are formed in a certain energy interval of the laser radiation. The width of this interval depends substantially on both the interference period and the illumination time τ i. A study is made of the noise in the output intensity of a high-power superfluorescent fiber radiation source generating 20 mW in the 1.55 μm region of the spectrum. The source is constructed in an all-fiber technology from a quartz fiber activated with ytterbium and erbium. It is found that the spectral density of the noise in the frequency range 100–500 kHz is uniform and corresponds to the excess noise of “thermal” sources. It is shown that the noise in the output intensity of the source can be compensated (decreased by an order of magnitude) in a two-channel scheme of photodetection, where it approaches a level close to the photon shot noise. It is shown that, on the one hand, the evolution of the angular rotation of the lines of nodes of the CP11 mode is a manifestation of the optical Magnus effect in a few-mode fiber with a parabolic refractive index profile, and, on the other hand, the additional phase γ b δβ 21 z in CV and IV vortices is the Berry topological phase, which arises as a result of the cyclic change in the orientations of the orthogonal axes of dislocations. The splitting of the propagation velocities of orthogonal circularly polarized CV+ and IV modes in an LV vortex in a parabolic fiber is a manifestation of the phenomenon of topological birefringence of a few-mode fiber. The azimuth of the linear polarization of a vortex undergoes continuous angular rotation. In an optical fiber with a stepped index profile the CP11 mode forms circularly polarized edge dislocation over lengths which are multiples of half the beat length, and over lengths which are odd multiples of the quarter beat length it forms linearly polarized fields with a purely screw dislocation. This transformation of edge and screw dislocations can be regarded formally as conversion of the polarizational angular momentum into orbital angular momentum. The conversion of angular momentum is a reflection of the dynamical unity of the optical Magnus effect and the Berry topological phase in the fields of a few-mode fiber. Pis’ma Zh. Tekh. The directional patterns, current-voltage characteristics, and spectral characteristics of mesastripe lasers with InGaAsSb active layers, emitting at λ=3.0–3.6 μm (77 K) and having threshold currents ≥15 mA (j th≥200 A/cm2), are investigated. The maximum output power is 1.4 mW (λ∼3.3 μm), the differential quantum efficiency ∼3%(τ=5–30 μs, f=500 Hz) for lasing in a longitudinal mode with beam divergences ΔΘ∥∼15° and ΔΘ ⊥ ∼30°. The relationship of the differential quantum efficiency to the order of the spatial mode of the lasing is demonstrated. A series of alternating copolymers (PC-AQx, PT-DTAQx, PC-DTAQx, PF-DTAQx, and PBDT-DTAQx) bearing novel planar acenaphtho[1,2-b]quinoxaline (AQx) or 8,11-di(thiophen- 2-yl)acenaphtho[1,2-b]quinoxaline (DTAQx)-acceptor cores have been synthesized via Suzuki or Stille coupling reactions. UV–vis absorption and GIXRD characterization results indicated that the presence of planar DTAQx unit is favorable for the promotion of well-ordered interchain packing in the solid state, and the incorporation of planar electron-donating benzo[1,2-b: 4,5-b′]-dithiophene (BDT) moiety would be propitious to the molecular self-organization. Electrochemical measurement results suggested that four copolymers possess deep HOMO energy level of −5.5 ~ −5.6 eV. The polymer solar cell with structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS(30 nm)/polymer:PCBM (60 nm)/Bphen(10 nm)/Ag(100 nm) exhibited the highest V oc of 0.84 V with PF-DTAQx as p-type polymer, while the best power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 0.9 % was obtained using a blend of PBDT-DTAQx and PCBM (1:4) as active layer.  相似文献

Dependence of the optical properties of a microstructured (holey) fiber with a silica glass core on the refractive index of a liquid that fills the channels in the cladding has been studied. Optimum conditions ensuring a single-mode regime, high degree of the interaction of radiation with the liquid, and low losses are determined for the fiber with a silica glass core and a microcapillary structure geometry parameter of d/Λ = 0.9.  相似文献

By multi-stage rod-in-tube fiber drawing process, a single-mode fluorotellurite glass fiber was fabricated and reported for the first time. Benefiting from chemical–physical dehydration process to remove water and OH groups, the propagation loss was decreased to 1.9 dB/m at 1550 nm and the infrared window is extended from 2.8 μm to 4.2 μm, i.e. a new kind of mid-infrared glass fiber. The fiber is with a small core of 3.52 μm in diameter to meet single-mode condition, and the effective nonlinear parameter γ was estimated to be 236.7 W−1 km−1 at 1550 nm by using continuous-wave self-phase modulation method. © 2015 Elsevier B.V. A substituted polypyrrole (PPr) with viologen side groups (polymer-1) was obtained from the reaction of N-aminopyrrole with 1-hexyl-1′-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-4,4′-bipyridinium dihalide (salt-1). A model compound (model-1) was synthesized by the reaction of N-aminopyrrole with N-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-4-(4-pyridyl)pyridinium chloride (salt-2). UV–vis spectra revealed that polymer-1 had an expanded π-conjugation system along the polymer chain: the polymer showed an onset position of absorption at a wavelength approximately 200 nm longer than the corresponding wavelength of model-1. Polymer-1 received an electrochemical oxidation of the pyrrole ring and reduction of the viologen group within the polymer.  相似文献

An analysis is made of the transformation of the angular momentum density in the field of an unstable IV vortex of a few-mode optical fiber. It is shown that the effect of mode dispersion of IV vortices is observed as the conversion of the polarization and orbital components of the electrodynamic angular momentum. The angular momentum defect may be recorded experimentally as a mechanical twist of the optical few-mode fiber. Formally the dispersion process resembles the conversion of the signs of the orbital and polarization components of the angular momentum density. A complex pseudopotential, whose real and imaginary parts characterize the field lines and lines of equal pseudopotential, is introduced to describe the energy flux density of the fiber vortex. The optical transmission and absorption spectra in UV- VIS were recorded in the wavelength range 350–800 nm for different glass compositions in the system (CuO) x (PbO) 50x(Bi2O3)50 (x = 2.5, 5.0, 7.5, 10.0, 12.5, 15.0, 20.0). Absorption coefficient (α), optical energy gap (Eopt), refractive index (nD), optical dielectric constant (ε′), measure of extent of band tailing (ΔE), constant (β) and ratio of carrier concentration to the effective mass (N/m*) have been reported. The effects of compositions of glasses on these parameters have been discussed. It has been indicated that a small compositional modification of the glasses lead to an important change in all the optical properties including non-linear behaviour. The optical parameters were found to be almost the same for different glasses in the same family.  相似文献
