本文给出了一种基于CORBA和TMN结构的ATM网络管理模型。首先介绍模型的OS结构,并将ATM与其传输网SDH进行集成管理;其次定义了该模型在不同域之间交换信息的接口,即所谓的Xcoop。结果表明该模型能够实现分布式网络管理、保证宽带连接业务的端到端QoS,并且有故障管理和配置管理功能。  相似文献

We elaborate on the management goals of next-generation cellular networks and describe how data-centric solutions can meet these goals. In a data-centric solution, operator applications act on a database representation of the cellular network. Network operations are invoked as a consequence to database changes, and the network, in turn, feeds the database with data such as network event notifications. The data-centric approach allows a focus on data as it is specified by the business needs of network management. This approach is augmented with data independence to assure consistent and flexible access of the data environment through the use of a common data interface. The data-centric design is contrasted with an application-centric design, and we conclude by providing suggestions on how application interface components can augment a data-centric network management solution  相似文献

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has completed work on a series of standards on asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) equipment functional operations and network element management. The objective of these standards is to enable flexible design and interoperability of network elements for use in a global ATM network, independent of any specific implementation. This article discusses these standards with respect to their development and application in planning ATM networks. Specifically, it addresses the following: the modeling approach taken in the development of the ITU standards, key operational features specified in the ATM network element functional model, and the capabilities of the ATM network element management interface. Examples of ATM equipment are provided to illustrate how the functional models specified in the ITU standards may be used by network planners and equipment manufacturers to specify and develop ATM equipment tailored to specific needs, while ensuring network interoperability. The development of a network management strategy and a network control system for the large integrated telecommunications network (ITN) at American Express Travel Related Services Company is discussed. Network control relates to operational activities such as the diagnostics, configuration, monitoring, and performance of networks, and network management relates to all of the functions performed to manage network resources. An architecture that addresses both control and management requirements is described. Network control functions are consolidated so that operations have a single interface to the system and can operate dissimilar systems from a single workstation. NETVIEW, a licensed IBM software, performs the functions of a focal point, and the network element management system (NEMS) addresses the management of network elements. The centralization of alarms and/or alerts and issuance of commands provides immediate capability to monitor and resolve network problems through a single set of terminals as well as a platform for further automation through the use of artificial intelligence technology  相似文献

When dealing with a Wireless Sensor and Actuator Network (WSAN) structure, one of the challenging problems is lack of flexibility in such network operations as establishment, management, and configuration. Software-defined Networking (SDN) is a promising technology for a simpler, more flexible, and less overworked network structure. Integration of SDN as a solution into the existing WSAN structures seems to be a strong candidate of deployment solutions for next generation WSAN systems. In order to get enhanced performance results for WSAN systems, we proposed an interface protocol, referred to as WSANFlow, which is responsible for all the communications between SDN controller (SDNC) and SDN-oriented end devices. The SDNC in this approach has the network intelligence and is capable of handling all the control and management operations related to the network. Thus, advanced communication operations can be managed and efficiently optimized efficiently by the SDN controller and then, subsequently, corresponding instructions can be delivered to end devices using the proposed WSANFlow protocol. In the study, we analyzed the proposed framework performance, in terms of power consumption ratio, throughput, and end to end delay metrics. Then, we compared the results with those of a ZigBee-based counterpart for different workloads such as; light, heavy and heavier load which modelizes a video stream of mild parameters. The results show that not only has the overall performance of the existing WSAN system been enhanced, but also control and management operations have been simplified by the proposed model.  相似文献

A customer premises network (CPN) provides a common communications fabric to efficiently integrate the traffic of multiple terminals on a common access interface to a BISDN. An important consideration in choosing a CPN architecture is to facilitate terminal portability and application transparency, so as to accommodate standard broadband terminals and applications, requiring only minor modification to adapt them from the standard BISDN interface to the multi-terminal environment. This paper explores the multi-faceted issues of CPN transparency with an emphasis on the evolving BISDN control and management architecture. We introduce a control architecture that conforms to a rigorous separation between ‘call control’ and ‘connection management’. This allows the CPN to be transparent to the user to network signalling exchange, and to participate only in the connection management via a remote resource management protocol. More generally, this scheme allows a call control entity located in a local exchange node (LEN) to manage a distributed set of resources such as switches and multiplexors (and CPNs). This is achieved through the definition of a standard interoperable interface between the central call control entity and the connection control entities which may be remotely located in various network elements. The features and functionality for such an interface, which we term the bearer connection control interface, are described within the framework of the OSI remote management architecture. A standard remote resource management protocol allows for the co-operative sharing of resources across administrative domains. Although the importance of such a scheme is particularly visible as applied to remote CPN management, it is useful in other application domains where it is advantageous to distribute management processes.  相似文献

The authors describe the new challenges presented for the management of broadband networks and outline the framework of the COMET research group at Columbia University for finding solutions to these challenges. They review a prototype that implements some of the requirements for managing the broadband networks of the future. In the COMET framework, management operations are defined in terms of primitives with a much higher semantic level than that typified by get and set in the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) management model, and the user interface to the managed system is based on virtual worlds that allow the manager to directly visualize and interact with the network. In the past, each new network element of a wireless network had a corresponding management system to provide management capabilities. Each of these management systems had a different user interface, employed a different computing platform, and typically managed one type of network element. The total O&M system was the sum of these independent resources, consuming partial solutions that made network management tasks inefficient, complex, time consuming, and expensive to administer. Large operations costs borne from these inefficiencies were once buffered by large cellular operator profits. With the introduction of PCS, operators became extremely cost conscious and sought to eradicate these large costs. Additionally, wireless service providers moved into a mixed vendor environment, where network elements manufactured by several vendors are used, so they could no longer afford different management systems for each network element. In today's environment, a wireless service provider who can provide better service quality at the lowest price will be the ultimate winner. The key to providing better service quality at the lowest price is to have efficient network management. As the wireless industry strives to push wireless prices on a par with wireline, the necessity for reduced network operation and management costs takes on increasing importance  相似文献

Faced with growing fierce competitive pressure on all fronts and market saturation, traditional telecommunication operators are now struggling to find the breakthrough approach by which they may successfully reshape their role from network service providers to multimedia service providers. They are re-examining their voice-centric business models and deploying next-generation networks (NGN) for QoS-guaranteed delivery of multimedia quadruple play services (QPSs). To cost effectively realize these paradigm shifts, the existing ";stability-oriented"; network operations and management infrastructure and processes should be migrated into ";service-oriented"; and ";business-driven"; network operations and management within the context of today's multimedia and converged business environments. In this article, I'd like to introduce Network Operations and Management 2.0 (NOM 2.0), which is an innovative next generation operations and management paradigm for telephone company business agility and customer value creation. KT recently proposed Telco 2.0 [1], a new role and business model in the IP world to create customer value. NOM 2.0 is a key component needed to realize the Telco 2.0 goals. Telcos need to transform their operations and management framework into a human-centric and highly intelligent and automated one, and become the market leader by providing an agile operation and management framework within ever-changing operations and business environments. A knowledge acquisition technique that combines heuristic and factual knowledge represented as two hierarchies is described. These ideas have been applied to the construction of a knowledge acquisition interface to OPERA (Expert System Analyst). The goal of OPERA is to improve the operations support of the computer network in the space shuttle launch processing system. The knowledge acquisition bottleneck lies in gathering knowledge from human experts and transferring it to OPERA. OPERA's knowledge acquisition problem is approached as a classification problem-solving task, combining this approach with the use of factual knowledge about the domain. The interface has been implemented in a Symbolics workstation, making heavy use of windows, pull-down menus, and other user-friendly devices.  相似文献

The application of a generic interface between operations systems and microprocessor controlled network elements (OS/NE) to both universal and integrated DLC (digital loop carrier) systems is discussed. The high-level components of a DLC system are defined, and a generic interface between operations systems and their central office terminal of a microprocessor-controlled DLC system is described. The adaptation of the generic operations-systems interface to the DLC system for use with a generic interface between the local switching system and the remote digital terminal of an integrated DLC system is explored.
