A compact substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) with open complementary split‐ring resonators (OCSRRs) loaded on the waveguide surface is proposed. The OCSRRs can be interpreted in terms of electric dipoles and they are good candidates to behave as electric scatterers. By loading OCSRRs on the waveguide surface, a forward‐wave pass‐band propagating below the waveguide cutoff frequency is generated. The resonance frequency of the OCSRRs is approximately half of the resonance frequency of the complementary split ring resonator (CSRR). Therefore, the electrical size of this particle is larger than the CSRRs and the OCSRRs are more appropriate for the SIW miniaturization. A bandpass response with a sharp rejection frequency band is obtained by properly manipulating the structure of the elements. By changing the orientation of the OCSRRs, two types of unit cell are proposed. Moreover, by resizing the OCSRRs, resonance frequency can be easily moved and the bandwidth can be tuned by the coupling between two OCSRRs. Compared with some other reported bandpass filters (BPFs) with SIW technique, the presented BPF has great improvements on size reduction and selectivity. To verify the methodology, two filters with center frequency of 5.5 GHz are designed and measured. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated ones. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, a dual‐band rotary standing‐wave oscillator (RSWO) is introduced that generates sinusoidal signals by the formation of a standing wave on a ring (closed‐loop)‐distributed composite right/left‐handed (CRL) Inductor‐Capacitor (LC) transmission line network. The LC network consists of four unit cells of CRL LC resonator stacked in series, and two pairs of cross‐coupled transistors are used to compensate for the loss of LC resonator. Varactors are used as the control to switch on/off the high‐ or low‐frequency bands. In the fundamental mode, the RSWO operates at the high‐frequency band. In the harmonic mode, the oscillator provides low‐frequency band outputs. The dual‐band function exploits the multiple oscillation modes of the CRL RSWO. The proposed RSWO has been implemented with the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Limited (TSMC) 0.18‐μm SiGe BiCMOS technology. It can generate differential signals in the high‐band frequency range of 6.73–8.60 GHz and in the low‐band frequency range of 3.68–3.73 GHz. The die area of the RSWO is 1.123 × 1.123 mm2. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 24:536–543, 2014.  相似文献

A miniaturized dual‐band metamaterial (MTM) antenna has been designed in this article. The designed coplanar waveguide fed antenna has composed of inner split‐ring resonator and an outer open ring resonator with rectangular stub. The series parameter of the antenna is used to determine the zeroth order resonance frequency due to short‐ended boundary condition. The whole size of proposed structure is 20 × 25.5 mm2. This MTM antenna exhibits dual‐band operation at 3.17 GHz (3.1–3.22 GHz) and 5.39 GHz (5.27–5.47 GHz). The proposed MTM structure achieves measured peak gain of 0.71 and 1.89 dB at 3.17 and 5.39 GHz, respectively. The proposed antenna can be used for recent radio communication in form of S‐band application and Wi‐MAX.  相似文献

In this paper, a compact novel simple design of ultra‐wide bandpass filter with high out of band attenuation is presented. The filter configuration is based on combining an ultra‐wide band composite right/left‐handed (CRLH) band pass filter (BPF) with simple uni‐planar configuration of complementary split ring resonator (UP‐CSRR). By integrating two UP‐CSRR cells, the ultra‐wideband CRLH filter roll‐off and wide stopband attenuation are enhanced. The filter has 3 dB cutoff frequencies at 3.1 GHz and 10.6 GHz with insertion loss equals 0.7 dB in average and minimum and maximum values of 0.48 dB and 1.05 dB, respectively over the filter passband. Within the passband. The transition band attenuation from 3 dB to 20 dB is achieved within the frequency band 1.9 GHz to 3.1 GHz (48%) at lower cutoff and the frequency band 10.6 GHz to 11.4 GHz (7%) at upper stopband. Moreover, the filter has a wide stopband attenuation >20 dB in frequencies 11 GHz to 13.6 GHz (21%) and ends with 3 dB cutoff frequency at 14.8 GHz. Furthermore, the designed filter size is very compact (23 × 12 mm2) whose length is only about 0.17 λg at 6.85 GHz. The filter performance is examined using circuit modeling, full‐wave simulations, and experimental measurements with good matching between all of them.  相似文献

This article describes a new nonuniform slot antenna array in the broad wall of rectangular waveguides partially filled with a dielectric slab. The slot elements are nonuniformly spaced to achieve a higher side lobe level while the amplitude and phase of their excitations are identical. Each slot element is fed by one dielectric‐loaded rectangular waveguide with one end shorted for structural simplicity. Experimental results for an 8‐element linear slot array operating at X‐band show that the side lobe level is 15 dB over a frequency range from 9.5 GHz to 10.5 GHz. The simulated side lobe level can reach 20 dB for a 16‐element linear array. Experimental results show that the side lobe level of a slot array can be improved using nonuniform element spacing without degrading the broadside radiation and gain. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Present article embodies the design and analysis of slotted circular shape metamaterial loaded multiband antenna for wireless applications with declination of SAR. The electrical dimension is 0.260 λ × 0.253 λ × 0.0059 λ (35 × 34 × 0.8 mm3) of proposed design, at lower frequency of 2.23 GHz. The antenna consists of circular shape rectangular slot as the radiation element loaded with metamaterial split ring resonator (SRR) and two parallel rectangular stubs, etched rectangular single complementary split‐ring resonator (CSRR) and reclined T‐shaped slot as ground plane. Antenna achieves hepta bands for wireless standards WLAN (2.4/5.0/5.8 GHz), WiMAX (3.5 GHz), radio frequency identification (RFID) services (3.0 GHz), Upper X band (11.8 GHz—for space communication) and Lower KU band (13.1 GHz—for satellite communication systems operating band). Stable radiation patterns are observed for the operating bands with low cross polarization. The SRR is responsible for creating an additional resonating mode for wireless application as well as provide the declination in SAR about 13.3%. Experimental characteristic of antenna shows close agreement with those obtained by simulation of the proposed antenna.  相似文献

To mitigate the interference with coexisting wireless systems operating over 3.3–3.6 GHz, 5.15–5.825 GHz, and 7.725–8.5 GHz bands, a novel triple band notched coplanar waveguide fed pitcher‐shaped planar monopole antenna is presented for ultrawideband applications. Bands notched characteristics are achieved using a novel mushroom type electromagnetic band gap structure like resonator and a split ring slot. A conceptual equivalent RLC (Resistor‐Inductor‐Capacitor)‐resonant circuit is presented for the band notched characteristics . Furthermore, the input impedance and VSWR (voltage standing wave ratio) obtained from the equivalent circuit are validated with simulated and measured results. Performances of the antennas in both, the frequency domain and the time domain are investigated. The simulated and measured results demonstrate that the proposed antennas have wide impedance bandwidth, nearly stable radiation patterns, and suppression of gain and total radiation efficiency at notched bands. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, a filtering antenna array based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) is proposed with quasi‐elliptic gain responses for the first time. Two radiation nulls in the gain responses at two sides of the frequency band edges are designed by applying a novel intercavity bypass coupling scheme. First, by carefully analyzing the bypass coupling between the in‐band and out‐of‐band modes in a single oversized TE103 mode cavity resonator, quasi‐elliptic filtering responses are achieved for a two‐output filter. Afterward, those cavity resonators coupled with the two outputs are replaced by cavity‐backed slot antennas to achieve the proposed filtering cavity‐backed slot antenna array. Only one cavity is required in our design to achieve the two transmission zeros and the function of power divider. As a result, the complexity of the proposed filtering antenna array is reduced. A prototype operating at Ka band is designed, fabricated and measured with a center frequency of 28.5 GHz and fractional bandwidth of 1.25%. Similar characteristics can be observed between the gain response of the proposed filtering antenna and the transmission responses of the two‐output filter. The proposed SIW filtering antenna array has great potential to be integrated into millimeter‐wave transceiver modules. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel band‐stop filter with single‐loop split ring resonators (SRRs) is proposed for spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) at millimeter wave frequencies, achieving a miniaturized size of 0.052λ0 × 0.278λ0 at its resonant frequency. The SRRs provide both a low‐pass response as the rectangular corrugations used in the conventional SPPs and an additional band‐stop response induced by the resonance of SRRs. To verify this design, a back‐to‐back device with two coplanar waveguides as the input and output feeding was fabricated and characterized, the measured S‐parameters of which agree well with the simulation. The measured stop band is centered at 49 GHz with a ?10‐dB bandwidth of 4.1 GHz and a high Q‐factor of 93, in which the maximum attenuation is 31 dB. The filter has a low insertion loss of less than 2.8 dB in the pass band. Such approaches may find many applications to achieve compact millimeter wave circuits.  相似文献

This article focuses on the common problem of uncontrollable transmission zero (TZ) in X‐band filter design. Using uniform impedance rectangular resonator (UIRR) to design an X‐band filter always results in an unpredictable TZ on the low‐frequency side of the passband, which greatly deteriorates the frequency selectivity of the filter performance. Electromagnetic coupling polarity analysis of the UIRR shows that the magnetic crosscoupling between nonadjacent resonators which is opposite to the main coupling plays a major role in the unpredictable TZ. By optimizing the UIRR from the loop structure with a small opening to the folded one, weak couplings between resonators are obtained. A high‐temperature superconducting filter at X‐band using folded UIRR resonator was designed and fabricated with a center frequency of 10.01 GHz and a bandwidth of 58 MHz, and the uncontrollable TZ has been removed successfully from the low‐frequency side of passband. The measured insertion loss is less than 0.4 dB and the return loss is greater than 15 dB.  相似文献

This article presents a theoretical study of the electromagnetic wave propagation in a rectangular waveguide, loaded with double positive (DPS) and double negative (DNG) dielectrics. The frequency response of the waveguide is analyzed using a modal technique. The results show that when at least one of the dielectrics is a DNG material the cutoff frequency of the waveguide is much more lower than the cutoff frequency of the DPS loaded or the empty waveguide. This interesting property means that very low frequency signals could be guided by structures that have very small size. Properties of composite right‐ and left‐handed wave propagation are also observed as well as the characteristic stop‐band between the frequency regions in which RH and LH wave propagation occurs. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A systematic synthesis procedure for ridge waveguide branch line couplers in both E‐plane and H‐plane configurations is presented. Ridge waveguides are chosen to benefit from their wide mono‐mode band and compact size compared to rectangular waveguides. Equivalent circuit parameters are used to synthesize the coupler sections. Rigorous mode matching method is used for full‐wave analysis and optimization of the couplers. Ridge couplers both in empty waveguide and Low Temperature Co‐fired Ceramic “LTCC” technology are designed using the proposed method and the design is verified with another numerical method. A prototype is built and its response is measured to verify the approach. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE, 2008.  相似文献

In this article, a novel electrically small eighth‐mode substrate integrated waveguide (EMSIW) based leaky‐wave antenna (LWA) in planar environment is presented. The proposed antenna uses 1/8th mode SIW resonator which helps to improve compactness of the design while maintaining high gain and increased scanning angle. The proposed SIW cavity is excited by a 50 Ω microstrip line feeding to resonate at dominant TE110 mode in X‐band. The dimensions of the resonators are adjusted to keep resonant mode at same frequency. The fabricated prototype is approximately 5λ0 long. Measured results show that the proposed leaky‐wave antenna is able to operate within frequency range of 8‐10 GHz with beam scanning range of 51° and maximum gain of 13.31 dBi.  相似文献

This review article provides an extensive literature survey on the research progress of dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) at millimeter‐wave frequency band that includes concepts of DRAs, their empirical formulae and design methodologies for different shaped DRAs at 60 GHz frequency band. The different shaped DRAs such as cylindrical, rectangular, hexagonal, and octagonal at 60 GHz are designed, simulated and analyzed using CST microwave studio solver. The ?10 dB impedance bandwidth of cylindrical, rectangular, hexagonal, and octagonal DRAs are 52.7 to 62.8 GHz, 57 to 62.2 GHz, 55.8 to 64.2 GHz, and 54.2 to 63.5 GHz, respectively. The idea behind getting broad impedance bandwidth is due to use of double‐layer substrate with different permittivity (εr1 = 4 and εr2 = 11.9). Empirical formulae are deduced for hexagonal and octagonal DRA, by studying the analogy of dielectric resonator geometry. Consequently, the mode of different shaped DRAs, that is, HEM111 and TE111 are investigated by the electric field and magnetic field distribution. With these analysis, a comprehensive research review over the period of the last two decades is carried for investigating various techniques, targeted to realized gain, circular polarization, and impedance bandwidth. Along with these analysis the state‐of‐the‐art at different shaped DRAs at mm‐wave frequency band are also reported.  相似文献

A modified electric‐field‐coupled (MELC) resonator featuring negative permittivity is proposed to enhance the inter‐element isolation of a circularly polarized (CP) patch antenna array operated at Chinese compass navigation satellite system (CNSS) downlink band. The resonator comprises two capacitive gaps and a common inductive strip connected to the ground plane by two metal vias. A suspended microstrip line excitation is employed to efficiently design and investigate the MELC resonator whose constitutive parameters are subsequently extracted. A dual‐element CNSS antenna array has been prototyped and measured. The experimental results demonstrate that under the assistance of the proposed MELC resonator, a mutual coupling reduction of 15 dB has been achieved while maintaining good impedance matching and CP radiation performance. Details of the design considerations along with simulation and measurement results are presented and discussed.  相似文献

In this article, compact ring‐shaped dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) along with moon‐shaped defected ground structure (DGS) was studied. The proposed antenna was fed by microstrip line shifted from center position, which excited TE01δ mode in ring DRA. Moon‐shaped DGS was acting as a radiator and also reduced the size of proposed antenna by an amount of 14.87% (lower frequency band) and 48.77% (upper frequency band). The proposed antenna was designed to resonate at two different frequencies namely 2.24 and 5.82 GHz with a fractional bandwidth of 30.17% and 22.14%, respectively. Based on optimized design parameters, archetype of antenna structure has been constructed and measured successfully, which shows good agreement with simulated ones. The proposed antenna design was suitable for WLAN (2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz); WiMAX (2.5/5.5 GHz); AMSAT (5.6/5.8 GHz); and WAVE (5.9 GHz) bands. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The miniaturized dual‐mode tri‐band band‐pass filters (BPF) using crossed‐island patch resonator is proposed in this article. The BPF is mainly formed by a square patch resonator in which a crossed‐island configuration is embedded in the patch. The patch size reduction with 74.4% is achieved. By the perturbation and the alternative inter‐digital coupling, the tri‐band responses are obtained. The proposed filter covers the required bandwidths for WLAN band (2.26–3.11 GHz and 5.02–6.0 GHz) and X‐band (7.58–8.41 GHz) applications. Five transmission zeros are placed between three pass‐bands and resulted in a good isolation. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 24:457–463, 2014.  相似文献

In this article, a wideband leaky‐wave antenna is designed for consistent gain and wide beam scanning angle by using the proposed multilayered substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) composite right/left‐handed transmission line (CRLH TL). The proposed SIW CRLH structure consists of two parts: an interdigital fingers slot of rotating 45° etched on the upper ground of the SIW, and a rotated parasitic patch beneath the slot. Due to the continuous phase constants change from negative to positive values of the proposed SIW‐CRLH under the balanced condition, the designed LWA can achieves a continuous beam‐scanning property from backward to forward over the operating frequency band. The designed antenna is fabricated and measured, the measured and simulated results are in good agreements with each other, indicating that the designed antenna obtains a measured continuous main beam scanning from backward ?78° to forward +76° over the frequency range from 7.7 to 12.8 GHz with a consistent gain of more than 9.5 dB. Besides, the designed antenna also exhibits a measured 3‐dB gain bandwidth of 45.1% with maximum gain of 15 dB. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 26:731–738, 2016.  相似文献

In this article, a novel dual‐band circularly polarized (CP) dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) for millimeter‐wave (MMW) band is presented. The rectangular dielectric resonator with layered truncated corners is excited by a microstrip‐coupled cross‐slot. CP radiations in the lower band are realized by utilizing two quasi‐TE111 modes operating at 21.7 GHz and 23.8 GHz, while CP radiations in the upper band are obtained by exciting a quasi‐TE113 mode at 28.2 GHz. The dual‐band DRA is fabricated and measured. Due to the higher order mode, the average gain of the DRA in the upper band is about 3 dB higher than that in the lower band. The measured impedance bandwidths (|S11| < ?10 dB) are 17.0% (20.5‐24.3 GHz) and 15.2% (26.1‐30.4 GHz), while the measured axial ratio (AR) bandwidths (AR < 3 dB) are 12.8% (21.2‐24.1 GHz) and 5% (27.4‐28.8 GHz). In addition, the peak gain values are 5 and 8 dBic.  相似文献

In this article, miniaturization of dual‐band slot antenna design for GPS, WLAN and amateur radio applications is presented. The proposed dual‐band miniaturized antenna is achieved using slits, rectangular split ring and metallic strips fed by 50 Ω microstrip feed. The first resonant frequency is achieved by loading reference antenna with eight slits that is antenna 1 and the second resonant frequency is achieved by loading with one center slits and rectangular split ring that is antenna 2. Dual‐band antenna is achieved by loading reference slot antenna with nine slits and rectangular split ring which resonates at frequency of 1.52 and 3.03 GHz respectively. As a result, it is achieved 53.79% reduction in first band resonant frequency with 76.07% improvement in ?10 dB bandwidth and 7.90% reduction in second band resonant frequency compared to reference slot antenna. Further, this dual‐band antenna is miniaturized by metallic strips which are placed on the bottom of the substrate. This results in 61.39% reduction in first band resonant frequency with 32.07% improvement in ?10 dB bandwidth and 26.13% reduction in second band resonant frequency in comparison with reference slot antenna topology.  相似文献
