A single‐layer dual‐band circularly polarized reflectarray antenna composed by split double rings for higher band and cross dipoles for lower band is presented in this letter. By adjusting the length of the cross dipole and rotation angle of split double ring, two classes of elements achieve the required reflection phase. Then, a reflectarray with these two types of elements is fabricated and tested. It is worth noting that the designed reflectarray obtains broadband performance at both bands. Measurement results demonstrate that the fabricated reflectarray obtains a 1 dB gain bandwidth of more than 14% for both bands and a 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth of 22.9% for the lower band and 40% for the upper band. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A dual‐band single‐layer circularly polarized reflectarray composed by elements with variable rotation angles is presented in this article. Orthogonal dipole elements etched on the substrate are designed to operate at 10 and 13.5 GHz, respectively. By introduction of element rotation technique, the proposed reflectarray has a good isolation between the two operating bands and obtains excellent performance of circular polarization compared with the conventional design. All the simulated and measured results demonstrate the advantages of the proposed reflectarray. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 25:39–47, 2015.  相似文献

A dual‐band circularly polarized (CP) antenna with harmonic rejection property is proposed in this paper. Four T‐shaped slits and two corner cuts are etched on the proposed microstrip patch antenna. Those structures can be used to tune the resonant frequencies of TM01 mode and TM03 mode of the antenna into the desired bands of 2.45 and 5.8 GHz with CP radiation. A shunt transmission line is employed not only to improve the impedance matching at 5.8 GHz but also to suppress the radiation at 4.9 GHz (second harmonic of 2.45 GHz). Meanwhile, two L‐shaped slits are etched on the feeding line to realize the harmonic rejection at 11.6 GHz (second harmonic of 5.8 GHz). The simulated and measured results show that this antenna has good dual‐band CP radiation property and harmonic suppression performance, which makes it a good candidate for the wireless energy harvesting system.  相似文献

A novel single‐layer subwavelength patch element is proposed to design the circularly polarized reflectarray in Ku band. The radiation characteristics of the phase‐shifting element are investigated. The relative linearly reflected phase response curve with 360° phase coverage is achieved. A reflectarray model constructed with the proposed element is designed and fabricated, and the angular rotation technique has been employed for obtaining reflected phase curve to compensate the spatial delay. The measurements are in good agreement with the simulations. The superior bandwidth and efficiency performance have been verified. The measured gain at the center frequency of 12.5 GHz is 26.5 dBi, corresponding to the aperture efficiency of 51.9%, and the obtained 1 dB gain and 3 dB AR bandwidth can reach 24.8% and 35.2%, respectively.  相似文献

In this communication, a dielectric resonator based circularly polarized antenna is designed and investigated. A modified aperture is used to excite dual cylindrical dielectric resonator (CDR) blocks. Two important characteristics of the proposed radiator that makes it all the more attractive are as follows: (i) excitation of dual radiating modes that is, HEM11δ and TE01δ mode in cylindrical DR along with the support of dual‐band circularly polarized (CP) waves; (ii) arrangements of dual CDR blocks to reduce the Q‐factor which is useful to enhance the impedance bandwidth of both frequency bands. Fabrication as well as experimental measurement of the antenna prototype has been done for verifying simulation outcomes. This antenna design operates over dual frequency bands, that is, 5.01‐6.41 GHz and 7.3‐7.9 GHz with the fractional bandwidth of 24.73% and 9.39%, respectively. It supports CP waves over the frequency range 6.1‐6.5 GHz and 7.4‐7.8 GHz. The proposed antenna backs right‐hand circularly polarized (RHCP) radiation with an average gain of 4.5 dBi. These characteristics make it well fitted for WLAN, WiMAX (5.2/5.5/5.8 GHz), and downlink defense purpose satellite communication (7.2‐7.7 GHz).  相似文献

In this article, a dual‐band and wideband omnidirectional circularly polarized (CP) antenna based on the vanadium dioxide (VO2) is investigated. The operating bandwidth of such an antenna can be regulated by altering the outside temperature (T), which is attained by the insulator‐metal transition of VO2. The omnidirectional CP antenna is based on a loop antenna‐dipole model, which is composed of four tilted metal and VO2 resonant units that are loaded around a cuboid and a feeding network for broadening bandwidth. The simulated results show that when T = 50°C (State I), the 10‐dB impedance bandwidth is 45.7% (1.67‐2.66 GHz), and the 3‐dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth is 40% (1.9‐2.85 GHz). When T = 80°C (State II), the 10‐dB impedance bandwidth is 13.8% (1.62‐1.86 GHz), and the 3‐dB AR bandwidth is 21.8% (1.68‐2.09 GHz). In order to further characterize the concept of the proposed antenna, the related parameters of such an antenna are studied using simulation software HFSS.  相似文献

This paper presents a new approach to design dual‐band antenna with dual‐sense circularly polarized (CP) operation. A principle for CP radiation is the use of two orthogonal dipoles and properly choosing their lengths can produce either right‐hand CP (RHCP) or left‐hand CP (LHCP) operation. In the proposed structure, the lower frequency band at 2.4 GHz is designed with RHCP radiation and LHCP is the operating mode of the higher band at 3.5 GHz. For verification, an antenna prototype is fabricated and measured. Measured data indicate that good performances over the RHCP and LHCP bands can be obtained with usable bandwidths of 2.9% (2.36‐2.43 GHz) and 1.7% (3.48‐3.54 GHz). Along with this, it also observes good unidirectional radiation patterns and the measured broadside gains are around 7.7 and 7.4 dBic across these frequency ranges.  相似文献

In this article, a novel dual‐band circularly polarized (CP) dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) for millimeter‐wave (MMW) band is presented. The rectangular dielectric resonator with layered truncated corners is excited by a microstrip‐coupled cross‐slot. CP radiations in the lower band are realized by utilizing two quasi‐TE111 modes operating at 21.7 GHz and 23.8 GHz, while CP radiations in the upper band are obtained by exciting a quasi‐TE113 mode at 28.2 GHz. The dual‐band DRA is fabricated and measured. Due to the higher order mode, the average gain of the DRA in the upper band is about 3 dB higher than that in the lower band. The measured impedance bandwidths (|S11| < ?10 dB) are 17.0% (20.5‐24.3 GHz) and 15.2% (26.1‐30.4 GHz), while the measured axial ratio (AR) bandwidths (AR < 3 dB) are 12.8% (21.2‐24.1 GHz) and 5% (27.4‐28.8 GHz). In addition, the peak gain values are 5 and 8 dBic.  相似文献

This letter investigates an integrated antenna configuration for WLAN/WiMAX applications. The proposed composite antenna configuration is simply the grouping of ring dielectric resonator along with reformed square‐shaped slot antenna. Three significant characteristics of proposed article are: (1) aperture act as magnetic dipole and excite HE11δ mode in ring dielectric resonator antenna; (2) reforming of square aperture generates orthogonal modes in ring DRA and creates CP in lower frequency band; (3) annular‐shaped Microstrip line along with reformed square aperture creates CP wave in upper frequency band. With the purpose of certifying the simulated outcomes, prototype of proposed structure is fabricated and tested. Good settlement is to be got between experimental and software generated outcome. Experimental outcomes show that the proposed radiating structure is operating over 2 frequency bands that is, 2.88‐3.72 and 5.4‐5.95 GHz. Measured 3‐dB axial ratio bandwidth in lower and upper frequency band is approximately 9.52% (3.0‐3.4 GHz) and 5.85% (5.64‐5.98 GHz), respectively. These outcomes indicate that the proposed composite antenna structure is appropriate for WLAN and WiMAX applications.  相似文献

A circularly polarized multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna is presented for global system for mobile (GSM) (710 MHz) and lower long term evolution (LTE) (900 MHz) frequency bands. The antenna consists of four ports with four impedance transformers on the bottom substrate and elliptical rings on the upper substrates. Impedance transformers include open stub and irregular microstrip lines in order to control impedance matching and resonant frequencies. Two upper substrates that contain orthogonal elliptical rings cause the circular polarization property of the proposed antenna. The results of measurement for the presented antenna show its performance with S‐parameters of less than ?10 dB in the frequency ranges of 699‐750 MHz for GSM and 880‐1115 MHz for lower LTE applications. Also, the gain and radiation efficiency are higher than 5dBi and 70%, respectively.  相似文献

This article presents an ultrawideband (UWB) crossed dipole antenna with circularly polarized (CP) and dual band‐notched characteristics. The proposed design is based on two orthogonal tapered dipoles for UWB CP operation and a square‐shaped cavity for high broadside gain over the entire operating bandwidth (BW). To generate dual band‐notched characteristics, two separated slots are inserted into each dipole's arm. This antenna yields measured impedance BW of 100% (3.2‐9.6 GHz) with dual‐band rejection centered at 5.2 and 5.8 GHz. Correspondingly, dual rejected bands are also observed in the original UWB CP band, which ranges from 3.2 to 8.2 GHz. Additionally, the proposed antenna exhibits high broadside gains better than 6.2 dBic and radiation efficiency greater than 82%.  相似文献

This article has proposed a circularly polarized dual‐band antenna with unidirectional pattern operating at the bandwidth frequencies of 920–925 MHz and 2.40–2.48 GHz for radiofrequency identification (RFID) readers. The proposed antenna structure is of a radiating patch with a single feeder and two pairs of plano convex and concave slots. This work has innovated and utilized the convex and concave slotting technique to generate the circular polarization. The simulated results showed that the dual‐band antenna is of circular polarization (CP) and unidirectional radiation pattern with the 3 dB axial ratio and the respective gains of 1.31 and 1.36 dBic for the experimental lower and upper bandwidth frequencies. An antenna prototype was subsequently fabricated and tests performed. The simulated and measured results are in good agreement, rendering the proposed dual‐band antenna with plano convex and concave slots suitably applicable to the ultrahigh frequency and microwave RFID readers.  相似文献

This article presents design and analysis of three wide band zeroth‐order resonance antennas (antennas I, II, and III) using composite right and left‐handed transmission line (CRLH‐TL) approach. Coplanar waveguide technology, single layer via‐less structures are used to have the design flexibility. The bandwidth characteristics are analyzed by using lumped parameters of CRLH‐TL. By introducing a simple slot in the ground plane of antenna I both bandwidth enhancement and circularly polarization characteristics are achieved in antenna II. Another quarter wave L‐shaped slot has been introduced in the ground plane of antenna II to introduce a notch band in the frequency response of antenna III. Achieved measured 10 dB return loss bandwidth of antenna I and antenna II are 960 (3.3‐4.26 GHz) and 2890 MHz (2.77‐5.66 GHz), respectively. Antenna III offers measured 10 dB return loss bandwidth of 3220 MHz (2.32‐5.54 GHz) with a band notch from 2.39 to 2.99 GHz that isolates the 2.4 GHz WLAN and 3.5 GHz WiMAX band. Antenna II and antenna III have circular polarization property with measured axial ratio bandwidth of 440 MHz. The measured peak realized gain of antennas II and III is around 1.53‐2.9 dBi.  相似文献

A compact epsilon‐shaped (ε) ultra‐wideband (UWB) antenna for dual‐wideband circularly polarized (CP) applications has been investigated in this article. It consists of a stepped stub loaded modified annular ring‐shaped radiator and modified CPW ground plane. The ground plane is loaded with two semicircular notches and a spiral‐shaped slot. The impedance bandwidth (IBW) is 97.02% (10.4‐30 GHz) along with an overall footprint of 20 × 20 mm2. The fractional axial ratio bandwidth (3‐dB ARBW) for two wide bands is 38.50% (13.30‐19.64 GHz) and 6.45% (26.25‐28.00 GHz), respectively. The proposed antenna is left‐hand circularly polarized with a peak gain of about 5.09 and 5.14 dB in both 3‐dB ARBW bands. The proposed antenna is dominating other reported CP antenna structures in terms of number of CP bands, 3‐dB ARBW, IBW, peak gain, and dimensions.  相似文献

A microstrip antenna with dual‐band reconfigurable circular polarization (CP) characteristics in Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) bands is presented in this article. The proposed antenna has a symmetrical U‐shaped slot with PIN diodes on the ground plane. The slotted ground generates a resonant mode for broad impedance‐band width, and excites contrary CP state at 2.45 GHz for WLAN and 3.4 GHz for WiMAX, respectively. Because switching the states of PIN diodes on the slot can redirect the current path, the CP state of the proposed antenna can be simply switched between the right‐handed CP and left‐handed CP. The proposed antenna has a low profile and a simple structure. Measured results of the fabricated antenna prototype are carried out to verify the simulation analysis. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, a newly developed filter‐antenna synthesis and realization methodology is applied to design a planar dual‐band filtering antenna. The synthesis method is derived based on the filter synthesis theory. As a result, a coupling coefficient expression is formulized more precisely specially for the antenna matched to the filter, which is essentially different from that in filter coupling. The synthesized circuit is realized by an efficient parameters extraction process. A third‐order dual‐band filtering antenna integrated with two dual‐mode 8‐shaped resonators and a dual‐inverted‐L antenna is then implemented for example to illustrate the design procedure. The integration method facilitates an efficient and practical filter‐antenna design without complicated parameters evaluation process. Finally, the proposed filtering antenna with simple structure and controllable frequencies is developed with the use of the investigated formulations and extraction curves. The circuit is realized for 2.5/3.45‐GHz WiMAX‐band applications. The tested results agree well with the simulations, showing good passbands selectivity and out‐of‐band rejection are attained.  相似文献

A circularly polarized printed antenna using an asymmetric open‐slot is designed in this paper. The presented antenna consists of conducting ground plane with open wide‐slot, fed electromagnetically by a microstrip feedline. The slot and feedline are positioned at the edge of the ground plane and substrate, hence making the antenna asymmetric. The measured results show that the |S11| < ?10 dB impedance bandwidth is 125% (3.2‐14 GHz) and the broadband axial ratio bandwidth is 61% (3.2‐6 GHz). The antenna is very simple and has a small size of 25 mm × 25 mm, making it attractive for compact wireless WLAN, ISM, WiMAX, and C‐band applications.  相似文献

A planar dual circularly polarized slot antenna is presented. The designed antenna has two tilted “8” shaped slots fed by microstrip lines, one each for transmission (TX) and reception (RX) operations. The isolation between the two ports (TX and RX) is augmented by means of an interdigital capacitor based bandstop filter. The proposed antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 361 MHz centered at 2.293 GHz (2.113‐2.474 GHz) with the isolation between the ports being >17.6 dB which goes up to a value as high as 46 dB within the band of operation. The 3 dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth is 11.52% centered at 2.1275 GHz (2.005‐2.25 GHz). Because of its high inter‐port isolation within the AR bandwidth, the design is suitable as a full‐duplex antenna for applications in S‐band.  相似文献

A dual‐band dual‐polarized hybrid aperture‐cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) is examined in this article. Inverted regular pentagon shaped aperture is not only used to launch two radiating hybrid modes (HEM11δ and HEM12δ mode) in CDRA but also act as a radiator. Out of two frequency bands, the lower frequency band is linearly polarized while upper frequency band is the combination of both circular and linear polarization. A circular polarization (CP) characteristic in upper frequency band is created by loading quarter annular stub with microstrip line. LHCP/RHCP can easily be controlled by alternating the position of quarter annular stub. It is operating over two frequency ranges i.e. 2.48‐2.98 GHz and 4.66‐5.88 GHz with the fractional bandwidth 18.31% and 23.14% respectively. Axial ratio bandwidth (3‐dB) is approximately 8.78% (4.9‐5.35 GHz) in upper frequency band. The proposed antenna design is suitable WiMAX (2.5/5.5 GHz) and WLAN (2.5/5.5 GHz) applications.  相似文献
