In many automated systems such as manufacturing systems and process plants, a fieldbus is a very important component for the exchange of various and sometimes crucial information. Some of the information has a tendency to rapidly lose its value as time elapses after its creation. Such information or data is called real-time data that includes sensor values and control commands. In order to deliver these data in time, the fieldbus network should be tailored to have short delay with respect to the individual time limit of various data. Fine-tuning the network for a given traffic requires knowledge on the relationship between protocol parameters such as timer values and performance measure such as network delay. This paper presents a mathematical performance model to calculate communication delays of the Profibus FMS network when the timer value and the traffic characteristics are given. The results of this model are compared to those from experiments to assess the model's validity. 相似文献

Several fieldbus systems based on different standards are in use since a decade. Bearing in mind that a dedicated fieldbus for food plant operation and management (FOAM) does not exist, this paper highlights their applications in this sector. In recent years, such pressures as operational flexibility, state-of-the-art technology, regulations, quality control, productivity, and last but not the least the environmental issues have motivated the food processing and packaging industry to search for strategic ways to fulfill factory-wide automation, control, and management requirements. However, the acceptance of fieldbus technology especially for the food processing and packaging applications has been minimal. Because, new processing plants small to large including renovation and modernization sites are emerging almost everyday, there is a pressing need to extensively disseminate the characteristic features, so that the fieldbus revolution can spread to serve the food industries in a bigger way. This paper critically reviews the characteristic features of some popular fieldbus systems while advocating modern networked automation tools and systems scenarios that can meet the FPOM (food plant operation and management) requirements. In particular, the characteristic features of some contemporary fieldbus standards have been comprehensively described. Some applications are highlighted. A suggestion is made to develop a dedicated fieldbus for the food industry. Conceptual specification of requirements framework is outlined. 相似文献

This paper deals with the integration of different types of standardised and available fieldbus and sensor/actuator bus systems
into control systems and applications. The concept for integration and the first steps of realisation considering the bus
systems PROFIBUS, CAN and INTERBUS are presented here. This includes a simple but unified application programming interface
(API) on all underlying interfaces including standardised fieldbus systems and other improvements for the adaptation to different
fieldbus systems. A main feature of these improvements is that there is no recompilation necessary in case of exchanging field
bus systems, making the integration of different fieldbus systems much easier. The remaining work for the system integrator
is to modify a few configuration tables which are written in ASCII text and easy to handle. The presented concept is realised
using VME bus systems with Motorola CPU board, real time operating system OS-9 and hard- and software modules for the interfaces
to PROFIBUS, CAN and INTERBUS.
