The better compression rate can be achieved by the traditional vector quantization (VQ) method, and the quality of the recovered image can also be accepted. But the decompressed image quality can not be promoted efficiently, so how to balance the image compression rate and image recovering quality is an important issue. In this paper, an image is transformed by discrete wavelet transform (DWT) to generate its DWT transformed image which can be compressed by the VQ method further. Besides, we compute the values between the DWT transformed image and decompressed DWT transformed image as the difference matrix which is the adjustable basis of the decompressed image quality. By controlling the deviation of the difference matrix, there can be nearly lossless compression for the VQ method. Experimental results show that when the number of compressed bits by our method is equal to the number of those bits compressed by the VQ method, the quality of our recovered image is better. Moreover, the proposed method has more compression capability comparing with the VQ scheme.  相似文献

A novel semi-fragile digital image watermarking method is presented, based on index constrained vector quantisation, which embeds the watermark information into the compressed bit streams. A still-image encoder based on vector quantization (VQ) has been developed using 0.35-/spl mu/m triple-metal CMOS technology for encoding a high-resolution still image. The chip employs the needless calculation elimination method and the adaptive resolution VQ (AR-VQ) technique. The needless calculation elimination method can reduce computational cost of VQ encoding to 40% or less of the full-search VQ encoding, while maintaining the accuracy of full-search VQ. AR-VQ realizes a compression ratio of over 1/200 while maintaining image quality. The processor can compress a still image of 1600/spl times/2400 pixels within 1 s and operates at 66 MHz with power dissipation of 660 mW under 2.5-V power supply, which is 1000 times larger performance per unit power dissipation than the software implementation on current PCs.  相似文献

Vector quantization (VQ) and block truncation coding (BTC) are successful image compression techniques. However, a reproduced image using VQ or BTC suffers from edge degradation. A new technique that combines the advantages of both VQ and BTC to combat this degradation is presented and is referred to as VQ-BTC. In VQ-BTC, a low-detail block is encoded using VQ. For a high-detail block, a modification of BTC is used to determine the locations of the relatively lighter and relatively darker pixels inside the block and VQ is then used to encode each. VQ-BTC provides improved edge reproduction and much lower bit rates than those obtained by BTC  相似文献

This correspondence discusses a progressive vector quantization (VQ) compression approach, which decomposes image data into a number of levels using full-search VQ. The final level is losslessly compressed, enabling lossless reconstruction. The computational difficulties are addressed by implementation on a massively parallel SIMD machine. We demonstrate progressive VQ on multispectral imagery obtained from the advanced very high resolution radiometer (AVHRR) and other earth-observation image data, and investigate the tradeoffs in selecting the number of decomposition levels and codebook training method.  相似文献

A fast search routine is presented to be used in the encoding phase of vector quantisation (VQ). The routine applies the technique of declustering to split a codebook into several subcodebooks. Then, the appropriate codeword can be found by using the constructed subcodebooks. According to the experimental results, the method can indeed provide good image quality and an efficient coding process. Furthermore, the extra memory space used in the search routine is not needed in the method. Thus, this method provides a practical solution for implementing the search routine in VQ.  相似文献

The authors introduce a novel coding technique which significantly improves the performance of the traditional vector quantisation (VQ) schemes at low bit rates. High interblock correlation in natural images results in a high probability that neighbouring image blocks are mapped to small subsets of the VQ codebook, which contains highly correlated codevectors. If, instead of the whole VQ codebook, a small subset is considered for the purpose of encoding neighbouring blocks, it is possible to improve the performance of traditional VQ schemes significantly. The performance improvement obtained with the new method is about 3 dB on average when compared with traditional VQ schemes at low bit rates. The method provides better performance than the JPEG coding standard at low bit rates, and gives comparable results with much less complexity than address VQ  相似文献

Hierarchical watermarking for secure image authentication withlocalization   总被引:30,自引:0,他引:30  
Several fragile watermarking schemes presented in the literature are either vulnerable to vector quantization (VQ) counterfeiting attacks or sacrifice localization accuracy to improve security. Using a hierarchical structure, we propose a method that thwarts the VQ attack while sustaining the superior localization properties of blockwise independent watermarking methods. In particular, we propose dividing the image into blocks in a multilevel hierarchy and calculating block signatures in this hierarchy. While signatures of small blocks on the lowest level of the hierarchy ensure superior accuracy of tamper localization, higher level block signatures provide increasing resistance to VQ attacks. At the top level, a signature calculated using the whole image completely thwarts the counterfeiting attack. Moreover, "sliding window" searches through the hierarchy enable the verification of untampered regions after an image has been cropped. We provide experimental results to demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.  相似文献

The rapid growth of digital multimedia and Internet technologies has made copyright protection, copy protection, and integrity verification three important issues in the digital world. To solve these problems, the digital watermarking technique has been presented and widely researched. Traditional watermarking algorithms are mostly based on discrete transform domains, such as the discrete cosine transform, discrete Fourier transform (DFT), and discrete wavelet transform (DWT). Most of these algorithms are good for only one purpose. Recently, some multipurpose digital watermarking methods have been presented, which can achieve the goal of content authentication and copyright protection simultaneously. However, they are based on DWT or DFT. Lately, several robust watermarking schemes based on vector quantization (VQ) have been presented, but they can only be used for copyright protection. In this paper, we present a novel multipurpose digital image watermarking method based on the multistage vector quantizer structure, which can be applied to image authentication and copyright protection. In the proposed method, the semi-fragile watermark and the robust watermark are embedded in different VQ stages using different techniques, and both of them can be extracted without the original image. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm in terms of robustness and fragility.  相似文献

A novel fuzzy clustering algorithm for the design of channel-optimized source coding systems is presented in this letter. The algorithm, termed fuzzy channel-optimized vector quantizer (FCOVQ) design algorithm, optimizes the vector quantizer (VQ) design using a fuzzy clustering process in which the index crossover probabilities imposed by a noisy channel are taken into account. The fuzzy clustering process effectively enhances the robustness of the performance of VQ to channel noise without reducing the quantization accuracy. Numerical results demonstrate that the FCOVQ algorithm outperforms existing VQ algorithms under noisy channel conditions for both Gauss-Markov sources and still image data  相似文献

分析了遥感图像的统计特性,提出了适合遥感图像压缩的矢量量化与小波变换相结合的压缩方法。该方法将遥感图像小波变换后高频子图划分为一定大小的的像块,对局部相关性较强、灰度变化较小的像块进行高倍压缩;对局部相关性较小、灰度变化较大的像块进行高保真压缩。实验表明,本方法具有良好的压缩性能,适用于遥感图像的压缩。  相似文献

针对声纹识别算法中的矢量量化方法,给出一种新的初始码本选择策略:超球面极值选择法;对提出的新策略进行性能分析,证明该方法在矢量量化码本训练过程中收敛速度快,不存在振荡点与空胞腔问题,计算量小,易于实现;应用此策略实现了基于矢量量化的说话人识别系统,与传统选择策略的系统识别结果进行统计比较,结果表明由改进超球面极值选择法得到的说话人矢量量化码本,识别性能好,具有可应用价值。  相似文献

该文提出了一种基于双正交小波变换(BWT)和模糊矢量量化(FVQ)的极低比特率图像编码算法。该算法通过构造符合图像小波变换系数特征的跨频带矢量,充分利用了不同频带小波系数之间的相关性,有效地提高了图像的编码效率和重构质量。该算法采用非线性插补矢量量化(NLIVQ)的思想,从大维数矢量中提取小维数的特征矢量,并提出了一种新的模糊矢量量化方法一渐进构造模糊聚类(PCFC)算法用于特征矢量的量化,从而大大提高了矢量量化的速度和码书质量。实验结果证明,该算法在比特率为0.172bpp的条件下仍能获得PSNR>30dB的高质量重构图像。  相似文献

A hybrid BTC-VQ-DCT (block truncation coding, vector quantization, and discrete cosine transform) image coding algorithm is presented. The algorithm combines the simple computation and edge preservation properties of BTC and the high fidelity and high-compression ratio of adaptive DCT with the high-compression ratio and good subjective performance of VQ, and can be implemented with significantly lower coding delays than either VQ or DCT alone. The bit-map generated by BTC is decomposed into a set of vectors which are vector quantized. Since the space of the BTC bit-map is much smaller than that of the original 8-b image, a lookup-table-based VQ encoder has been designed to `fast encode' the bit-map. Adaptive DCT coding using residual error feedback is implemented to encode the high-mean and low-mean subimages. The overall computational complexity of BTC-VQ-DCT coding is much less than either DCT and VQ, while the fidelity performance is competitive. The algorithm has strong edge-preserving ability because of the implementation of BTC as a precompress decimation. The total compression ratio is about 10:1  相似文献
