Optical emission spectroscopy in nitrogen glow discharge plasma is simulated, and the collision excitations and characteristic emissions of the species (N2, N2^+, N^+, N) are investigated by a Monte Carlo model for nitrogen molecular gas discharge. The excitation rates of the main excited states are calculated and the corresponding relation and relative magnitude between the distribution of excitation rate of a certain excited state and the distributions of the emission rates of various lines originating from this excited level are also explored. The simulated results are compared with the experimental measurements in two typical discharge conditions. The luminescence mechanism of the line N2^+: 391.4 nm is explained based on the microscopic plasma processes. The cathode glow in N2 discharge is found to be mainly caused by N^+ impact excitation and the intensity of cathode glow decreases with the voltage. The corresponding relation between the emission rate or intensity of the 391.4 nm line and the production rate and the density of N2^+ is also examined.  相似文献

A glow discharge plasma nitriding reactor in the presence of an active screen cage is optimized in terms of current density, filling pressure and hydrogen concentrations using optical emission spectroscopy(OES).The samples of AISI 304 are nitrided for different treatment times under optimum conditions. The treated samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction(XRD) to explore the changes induced in the crystallographic structure. The XRD pattern confirmed the formation of iron and chromium nitrides arising from incorporation of nitrogen as an interstitial solid solution in the iron lattice.A Vickers microhardness tester was used to evaluate the surface hardness as a function of treatment time(h).The results showed clear evidence of improved surface hardness and a substantial amount of decrease in the treatment time compared with the previous work.  相似文献

Optical emission spectroscopic measurement of trace rare gas is carried out to determine the density of nitrogen (N) atom, in a nitrogen plasma, as a function of filling pressure and RF power applied. 2% of argon, used as an actinometer, is mixed with nitrogen. In order to normalize the changes in the excitation cross section and electron energy distribution function at different operational conditions, the Ar-I emission line at 419.83 nm is used, which is of nearly the same excitation efficiency coefficients as that of the nitrogen emission line at 493.51 nm. It is observed that the emission intensity of the selected argon and atomic nitrogen lines increases with both pressure and RF power, as does the nitrogen atomic density.  相似文献

In this study, the emission spectra of active atoms O (3p^5p → 3s^5S^02 777.4 nm),Ha (3P→2S 656.3 nm) and N (3p^4P→ 3s^4S^0 742.3 nm, 744.2 nm, 746.8 nm) produced by thepositive high-voltage pulsed corona discharge (HVPCD) of N2 and H2O mixture in a needle-plate reactor have successfully been recorded against a severe electromagnetic interference coming from the HVPCD at one atmosphere. The effects of the peak voltage, the repetition rate of pulsed discharge and the flow rate of oxygen on the production of those active atoms are investigated. It is found that when the peak voltage and the repetition rate of the pulsed discharge are increased, the emission intensities of those active atoms rise correspondingly. And the emission intensities of O (3p^5P→3s^5S^0 777.4 nm), Hα (3P→2S 656.3 nm) and N (3p^4P→3s^4S^0 742.3 nm, 744.2 nm,746.8 nm) increase with the flow rate of oxygen (from 0 to 25 ml/min) and achieve a maximum value at a flow rate of 25 ml/min. When the flow rate of oxygen is increased further, the emission intensities of those atoms visibly decrease correspondingly. The main physicochemical processes of interaction involved between electrons, neutrals and ions are also discussed.  相似文献

A direct current(DC) source excited plasma jet consisting of a hollow needle anode and a plate cathode has been developed to form a diffuse discharge plume in ambient air with flowing argon as the working gas.Using optical and electrical methods, the discharge characteristics are investigated for the diffuse plasma plume. Results indicate that the discharge has a pulse characteristic, under the excitation of a DC voltage. The discharge pulse corresponds to the propagation process of a plasma bullet travelling from the anode to the cathode. It is found that, with an increment of the gas flow rate, both the discharge plume length and the current peak value of the pulsed discharge decrease in the laminar flow mode, reach their minima at about1.5 L/min,and then slightly increase in the turbulent mode. However, the frequency of the pulsed discharge increases in the laminar mode with increasing the argon flow rate until the argon flow rate equals to about 1.5 L/min,and then slightly decreases in the turbulent mode.  相似文献

A wastewater treatment system was established by means of pulsed dielectric barrier discharge(DBD). The main advantage of this system is that the wastewater is employed as one of the electrodes for the degradation of rhodamine B, which makes use of the high conductivity and lessenes its negative influence on the discharge process. At the same time, the reactive species like ozone and ultraviolet(UV) light generated by the DBD can be utilized for the treatment of wastewater. The effects of some factors like conductivity, peak pulse voltage, discharge frequency and pH values were investigated. The results show that the combination of these reactive species could enhance the degradation of the dye while the ozone played the most important role in the process. The degradation efficiency was enhanced with the increase of energy supplied. The reduction in the concentration of rhodamine B was much more effective with high solution conductivity;under the highest conductivity condition, the degradation rate could rise to 99%.  相似文献

Non-thermal C/H/Ar plasmas are widely applied to carbonaceous material production and processing. In this work, plasma parameters and gaseous species of the atmospheric non-thermal C/H/Ar plasmas produced by an atmospheric-pressure DC arc discharge generator in CH_4/Ar were investigated. The voltage-current characteristics were measured for different CH_4/Ar ratios.Optical emission spectroscopy was employed to analyze the electron excitation temperature, gas temperature and electron density under various discharge conditions. The hydrocarbon molecules produced in the CH_4/Ar plasmas were detected with photoionization mass spectrometry. The optical spectral results demonstrated that the electron excitation temperature was 0.4-1 eV,the gas temperature was 2800-4200 K and the electron density was in the range of(5-20)×10~(15) cm~(-3).The mass spectrum indicated that a variety of unsaturated hydrocarbons(C_2H_4,C_3H_6,C_6H_6,etc.) and several highly unsaturated hydrocarbons(C_4H_2,C_5H_6,etc.) were produced in the non-thermal arc plasmas.  相似文献

Optical emission spectroscopy parallel to the axis of a low-pressure radio-frequency discharge in nitrogen was realized,i.e.end-on instead of customary side-on measurements.A specially designed optical feedthrough was fabricated and installed co-planar with the anode electrode, allowing non-invasive observations perpendicular to the plasma sheath. The principal excited species flowing towards the grounded electrode were identified and,by assuming Boltzmann distributions, the vibrational temperature of the molecules on the X1∑+g and C3Πu levels was estimated under various operating conditions.  相似文献

In this paper, nitrogen dielectric barrier discharge(DBD) plasma was generated in a quartz tube with coaxial wire-cylinder electrodes at atmospheric pressure.By varying the nitrogen gas flow(FN) in the range of 0-1 m3/h,the plasma optical emission spectra(OES) were measured and studied. The vibration(T_(vib)) and rotation temperature(T_(rot)) of nitrogen were obtained,by fitting the rovibronic bands of N_2(C~3∏_u-B~3∏_g,0-1),and by the Boltzmann plot method for purposes of comparison.T_(vib) increased up to 2481 K with increasing nitrogen flow till0.2 m3/h,and then decreased with further increasing FN,while Trot decreased monotonously and approached to-350 K for FN ≥ 0.6 m~3/h.The intensity of N_2(C~3∏_u-B~3∏_g,0-0,1-0,0-3) and N_2~+(B~2∑_u~+-X~2Σ_g~+,0-0) exhibited similar evolution with increasing FN to those of the T_(vib) and Trot, respectively. The discharge photos revealed that the discharge filaments gradually decreased with increasing FN,and eventually disappeared, which implied that a discharge mode transition emerged with increasing FN.The possible mechanism for the discharge mode transition is studied in detail according to the vibration(T_(vib)) and rotation temperature(T_(rot)) of nitrogen.  相似文献

An investigation into the flow characteristic on a flat plate induced by an unsteady plasma was conducted with the methods of direct numerical simulations(DNS).A simplified model of dielectric barrier discharge(DBD) plasma was applied and its parameters were calibrated with the experimental results. In the simulations, effects of the actuation frequency on the flow were examined. The instantaneous flow parameters were also drawn to serve as a detailed study on the behavior when the plasma actuator was applied to the flow. The result shows that induced by the unsteady actuation,a series of vortex pairs which showed dipole formation and periodicity distribution were formed in the boundary layer. The production of these vortex pairs indicated a strong energy exchange between the main flow and the boundary layer. They moved downstream under the action of the free stream and decayed under the influence of the fluid viscosity. The distance of the neighboring vortices was found to be determined by the actuation frequency.Interaction of the neighboring vortices would be ignored when the actuation frequency was too small to make a difference.  相似文献
