Mutual coupling compensation in small array antennas   总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10  
A technique to compensate for mutual coupling in a small array is developed and experimentally verified. Mathematically, the compensation consists of a matrix multiplication performed on the received-signal vector. This, in effect, restores the signals as received by the isolated elements in the absence of mutual coupling. This technique is most practical for digital beamforming antennas where the matrix operation can be readily implemented  相似文献

This paper deals with mutual coupling in a finite planar array antenna, composed of open-ended circular waveguides in a ground plane. The element-by-element approach is used and the problem is formulated as an integral equation, by requiring the transverse electric and magnetic fields to be continuous across the apertures. The equation is then solved by the method of moments and the mutual coupling in a 127-element array is computed. Excellent agreement with measurements and with the active reflection coefficient for the corresponding infinite array is found. The presented method of coupling analysis can be considered as a supplement to the established periodic-structure approaches for infinite arrays and may be useful for the analysis of small or nonperiodic arrays.  相似文献

Equations are presented for the calculation of the interelement mutual coupling in a finite size planar array of waveguide-fed apertures in an infinite flat conductor. The general mutual admittance expression is evaluated for circular apertures and the mutual coupling calculations are verified experimentally for twoTE_{11}mode excited apertures. Qualitative agreement between calculations for a 183 element array and an infinite array establishes the validity of the finite array theoretical model.  相似文献

While precious studies on substrate coupling focused mostly on noise induced through drain-bulk capacitance, substrate coupling from planar spiral inductors at radiofrequency (RF) via the oxide capacitance has not been reported. This paper presents the experimental and simulation results of substrate noise induced through planar inductors. Experimental and simulation results reveal that isolation between inductor and noise source is less than -30 dB at 1 GHz. Separation by distance reduces coupling by less than 2 dB in most practical cases. Practical examples reveal an obstacle in integrating RF tuned-gain amplifier with sensitive RF receiver circuits on the same die. Simulation results indicate that hollow inductors have advantages not only in having a higher self-resonant frequency, but also in reducing substrate noise as compared to conventional inductors. The mutual coupling in a finite planar array with interelement holes present was considered. A computer program designed to study mutual coupling between rectangular waveguides was modified to include coupling between elements of different sizes. This modified program was used to study the problem of widely spaced rectangular waveguides that form smaller rectangular holes in the ground plane. Comparisons with experimental data confirmed the validity of the model. Tests run at various hole sizes showed that holes that are much smaller than their cutoff size have little effect on the coupling. This paper presents an optimization-based approach to compensate for the mutual coupling effect and to reduce the sidelobe level (SLL) of the normalized radiation pattern by optimizing the current excitation amplitude of the antenna array elements. Due to the mutual coupling effect, the SLL of the radiation pattern is increased, and thereby, the field pattern of the antenna array is severely degraded. This causes interference with other communication systems working at the same frequency. Toward the compensation of the mutual coupling effect and reduction of SLL, the Cat swarm optimization (CSO) algorithm is employed, and the excitation amplitudes of the antenna elements are optimized. In this regard, optimizing the cost function is defined by introducing the impedance factor (IF), calculated by using the self-impedance and mutual impedance of the antenna elements. The proposed method for the synthesis of a mutually coupled linear antenna array is less expensive, simpler to use, and more effective. Array sets of 4, 6, 8, and 10 elements are considered for optimization.  相似文献

由电磁场理论给出了线元天线阵列波束扫描的解析公式,并由该解析公式得到阵列天线波束扫描的数字结果,然后用光栅方程对所得数字结果作了理论分析,得到以下结论:(1)阵列天线扫描问题可以由光栅方程进行简洁分析;(2)波束能量极大值与阵列天线元数目的四次方成正比;(3)通过适当馈电时间延迟,可以控制波束扫描范围;(4)扫描的角范围依赖所给的半角度宽度要求。  相似文献

为了深入探讨相控阵天线单元间的耦合对阵中单元方向图的影响,以阵列天线单元S参数为基础,给出了阵列天线单元的耦合激励系数计算公式,利用阵列天线单元间的耦合激励系数分析计算阵中单元的有源辐射方向图.同时利用矩量法分析由偶极子单元组成的阵列,并把阵列中每个单元的感应电流幅度和相位与耦合激励系数的幅度和相位进行比较,二者数据基本一致.矩量法计算的单元有源方向图与本文提出方法的计算结果吻合良好,验证了本文给出的阵列耦合激励系数及阵列天线阵中单元有源方向图计算方法的可靠性.  相似文献

介绍了一种新颖的自聚焦平板波导透镜(SPWL),利用几何光学方法分析了它的光学特性,得出其传输矩阵,并进行了特殊的结构设计.介绍了实际制备这种透镜的工艺过程,并给出了光纤输出光束经1/4节距的自聚焦平板波导透镜之后输出的近场和远场光斑图,测试结果表明自聚焦平板波导透镜输出近场光斑在x-z平面内束宽为1 153.3μm,与根据传输矩阵计算得出的束宽1 153.2 μm相符;最后介绍了自聚焦平板波导透镜的三种应用实例:LD阵列和光纤的耦合、SOA与单模光纤的耦合、光功率分束器和直波导阵列波导光栅.  相似文献

The effect of internal higher order modes in the feeding waveguide of a planar slot array is investigated. Both the centered-inclined coupling slot and the longitudinal-transverse coupling slot are considered. Method of moments solutions to pertinent coupled integral equations are investigated for arrays of coupling slots of the centered-inclined and longitudinal-transverse types between a main waveguide and crossed branch waveguides. It is demonstrated that, by including the TE/sub 20/ mode coupling in the analysis, most of the higher order mode effects can be accounted for in reduced height waveguides, whereas in waveguides of standard height there may be a small additional effect arising from the TE/sub 01/ mode coupling.<>  相似文献

An approximate expression is derived for a shift of a main-beam direction due to its element pattern in a uniformly illuminated, scanning planar array for asin^{p} theta cdotp sin^{q} phielement pattern. Furthermore, the integral of the radiation power pattern of the array is approximately evaluated, and discussions are given about the effect of the element pattern on the scanned directivity of the array. This paper is concerned with near-field source localization for scenarios where coherent narrowband sources exist. In this paper, we propose a new method in which we design a general planar array with a covariance matrix whose rank is not decreased by the coherence between sources. Moreover, conditions for the sensor locations in the designed planar array are derived to reach maximum effective array aperture. The proposed method uses second order statistics and features a separable range-bearing search to reduce the computational complexity. This method localizes near-field sources with a number of one-dimensional searches in two steps. In the first step, ranges of sources is estimated using one 1D search and in the second step, the bearing of each signal source is estimated using the corresponding range estimated in the first step. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed method is comparable with the Cramer–Rao bound.

This study presents a novel method for reducing return loss and achieving lower side lobe levels in small planar antenna arrays (PAAs). Quantum particle swarm optimisation (QPSO) findings are utilised for antenna design modelling and performance assessment utilising the MATLAB-based moment's code approach and MATLAB-HFSS interface. The mutual coupling between antenna components is considered and computed using the method of moments (MoM). Changing the array elements' length and spacing will accomplish the abovementioned objectives. The Matlab-based moments code calculates the antenna components' length and spacing, and the antennas' length and spacing are used to produce the radiation pattern via the Matlab-HFSS interface. Four examples of small PAA designs are given to illustrate how well the applied methodology works. The method discussed in this paper is generic and can be employed in the future for different sizes of the array elements and the different antenna array structure designs.  相似文献

The feasibility of correcting phase aberrations of spherical reflector antennas with planar array feeds has been investigated. This type of feed seems to be particularly attractive for applications requiring several closely spaced beams. A synthesis procedure for the array excitation has been developed which minimizes the mean-square error with respect to a prescribed reflector illumination. The finite-element method is an efficient and flexible way of computing the scattering parameters of N-port planar devices (microstrip, stripline, rectangular waveguide, etc.). In addition, it can provide, at little extra cost, the sensitivity of scattering parameters to changes in the shape of the device. such information can lead to a faster automatic optimization of the shape. This approach has been implemented with high-order, triangular finite elements and the Broyden-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno optimization scheme. Sensitivities were computed for an empty parallel-plate waveguide and for a rectangular waveguide containing a dielectric slab. The agreement with analytical solutions was excellent. The method was used to determine the optimum shape of a microstrip 3-dB hybrid and was found to require far fewer analyses than a previous technique  相似文献

The sidelobe level of a planar array antenna with equal amplitude excitation can be suppressed by element thinning. The method of element thinning employed here is a kind of multistage decision procedure or steepest descent approach. Although this method gives the local optimum results, the reduced sidelobe level is assured to be within the obtained level over the whole radiation region. The sidelobe level, for example, can be suppressed -29.7 dB where the array contains 3120 elements arranged within a circular aperture capable of 5815 elements if fully filled. The computation time is also discussed, and it is shown that the computation time decreases drastically by the use of the design method.  相似文献

针对有阵元数和阵列口径约束的矩形平面稀疏阵天线的综合问题,提出了一种基于整数编码的差分进化算法。该方法以每个阵元的栅格位置编号作为设计变量,使阵列的稀疏率满足约束条件,避免了优化过程中的不可行解,还减少了优化变量的个数。为了加速优化过程,采用快速傅里叶变化计算阵列的方向图。以改善阵列峰值副瓣电平为目的进行仿真试验,结果表明:优化后的稀疏天线阵峰值旁瓣电平比现有方法相比改善了1.2~1.7 dB,且具有收敛性和稳定性好的优点。  相似文献
