A PC-based distributed multiple display virtual reality system   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
In this paper, a PC-based distributed multiple-display virtual reality system is constructed. The system is a PC-based CAVE environment. Five PCs are used in this system; one is the master responsible for receiving user's input signals, the others are clients for images rendering. Devices are added to synchronize the RGB signals from client PCs.

A software library is developed to drive the system properly. The software is designed in object-oriented language and flexibility for different interface devices is considered.

With the proposed system, developers can easily elaborate PC-based virtual reality applications and build PC virtual worlds at much lower cost.  相似文献

针对目前机电系统频率响应特性测试试验的要求,在简介频率响应特性测试的原理的基础上,提出了一种基于PC机的频率响应特性测试系统的软硬件组成,重点论述了该系统利用波形输出卡实现测试信号生成的手段以及采样数据的处理方法;该系统具有简单快捷、配置灵活、节约成本的优点,基本可以代替价格昂贵的传统的计算机加信号发生器模式;应用结果表明,该测试系统经济可靠,测试精度高,能够满足机电系统频率响应特性翻试的要求。  相似文献

In this paper, a PC-based off-line programming (OLP) method using the virtual reality modeling language is proposed. The developed OLP system consists of simulation programs, a block-arrangement algorithm, an optimal traveling-path generation algorithm, an automatic robot program generator and the TRIBON CAD interface. The strength of the developed PC-based OLP system lies in its flexibility in handling the changes in the robot's target objects. The operator can generate robot programs very easily and quickly. Possible applications of the developed OLP can be extended to port automation, container loading/unloading processes as well as painting and grinding processes in the shipbuilding industry.  相似文献

We designed, implemented, and tested a real-time flexible controller for manipulating different types of robots and control algorithms. The robot-independent, IBM PC-based multiprocessor system contains a DSP56001 master controller, six independent HCTL-1100 joint processors for accurate robotic joint control, and an interface computer board for processor communication. Since head mounted displays (HMD), datagloves, tracking systems, and powerful computer graphics resources are nowadays in an affordable price range, the usage of PC-based "virtual training systems" becomes very attractive. However, due to the limited field of view of HMD devices, additional modalities have to be provided to benefit from 3D environments. A 3D sound simulation can improve the capabilities of VR systems dramatically. Unfortunately, realistic 3D sound simulations are expensive and demand a tremendous amount of computational power to calculate reverberation, occlusion, and obstruction effects. To use 3D sound in a PC-based training system as a way to direct and guide trainees to observe specific events in 3D space, a cheaper alternative has to be provided, so that a broader range of applications can take advantage of this modality. To address this issue, we focus in this paper on the evaluation of a low-cost 3D sound simulation that is capable of providing traceable 3D sound events. We describe our experimental system setup using conventional stereo headsets in combination with a tracked HMD device and present our results with regard to precision, speed, and used signal types for localizing simulated sound events in a virtual training environment  相似文献

Many of the instruments to measure information and system quality were developed in the context of mainframe and PC-based technologies of yesteryears. With the proliferation of the Internet and World Wide Web applications, users are increasingly interfacing and interacting with web-based applications. It is, therefore, important to develop new instruments and scales, which are directly targeted to these new interfaces and applications. In this article, we report on the development of an instrument that captures key characteristics of web site quality from the user’s perspective. The 25-item instrument measures four dimensions of web quality: specific content, content quality, appearance and technical adequacy. While improvements are possible, the instrument exhibits excellent psychometric properties. The instrument would be useful to organizations and web designers as it provides an aggregate measure of web quality, and to researchers in related web research.  相似文献

The approaches to deal with scheduling and load balancing on PC-based cluster systems are famous and well-known. Self-scheduling schemes, which are suitable for parallel loops with independent iterations on cluster computer system, they have been designed in the past. In this paper, we propose a new scheme that can adjust the scheduling parameter dynamically on an extremely heterogeneous PC-based cluster and Grid computing environments in order to improve system performance. A Grid computing environment consists of multiple PC-based clusters is constructed using Globus Toolkit and MPICH-G2 middleware. The experimental results show that our scheduling can result in higher performance than other similar schemes on Grid computing environments.  相似文献

Surface-based assays have been used extensively for the functional and structural analysis of biomolecules such as DNA or proteins. These experiments are established by the analysis of binding between acceptor molecules and immobilized receptors on a platform. Site-specific printing of receptor molecules on gold, glass, or polycarbonate (PC) surfaces is conventionally performed by the chemical derivatization of a surface, priming it to covalently bind to subsequently deposited receptor molecules. Unlike conventional methods, we have developed a new fabrication method for bioactive PC surfaces by directly molding PC granules doped with receptor molecules. PC-based receptor molecules were synthesized and commercially available PC granules were doped with these synthesized molecules. In our proof-of-concept study, PC doped with dye 1 (Fig. 1) was used as the receptor molecule. Using an aluminum mold and a hot press machine, PC-based objects were manufactured through compression molding using doped PC granules. Affinity analysis was evaluated by monitoring the localization of a monoclonal antibody elicited against dye 1 to the surface of the molded platforms by fluorescence microscopy. The results illustrated effective binding of an anti-dye 1 monoclonal antibody to the surface, substantiating successful display of assemblies of molecular receptors on the surface through compression molding. Although conventional surface functionalization methods impose limited applications and alter desired opto-mechanical properties of the polymer, our investigation provides a versatile means for the fabrication of bioactive PC-based platforms. It can also be used for engineering and imbedding receptor arrays within three-dimensional objects with applications to the production of opto-medical devices or biosensors.  相似文献

The aircraft maintenance industry is a complex system consisting of several interrelated human and machine components. Recognizing this, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has pursued human factors related research. In the maintenance arena the research has focused on the aircraft inspection process and the aircraft inspector. Training has been identified as the primary intervention strategy to improve the quality and reliability of aircraft inspection. If training is to be successful, it is critical that we provide aircraft inspectors with appropriate training tools and environment. In response to this need, the paper outlines the development of a virtual reality (VR) system for aircraft inspection training.

VR has generated much excitement but little formal proof that it is useful. However, since VR interfaces are difficult and expensive to build, the computer graphics community needs to be able to predict which applications will benefit from VR. To address this important issue, this research measured the degree of immersion and presence felt by subjects in a virtual environment simulator. Specifically, it conducted two controlled studies using the VR system developed for visual inspection task of an aft-cargo bay at the VR Lab of Clemson University. Beyond assembling the visual inspection virtual environment, a significant goal of this project was to explore subjective presence as it affects task performance. The results of this study indicated that the system scored high on the issues related to the degree of presence felt by the subjects. As a next logical step, this study, then, compared VR to an existing PC-based aircraft inspection simulator. The results showed that the VR system was better and preferred over the PC-based training tool.  相似文献

The article presents a multiple residual power prediction system to be applied in mobile robots or automation fields. The system contains multiple power detection units to measure multiple online power values. Each power detection unit uses four current sensors to measure the current variety, and uses weighted average method and redundant management method to calculate the exact current value, and isolates faulty measurement values. We use the proposed algorithms to be applied in voltage detection of each power detection unit. Then we can calculate the real-time power values according to the current and voltage measurement values. The control core of the power detection unit is HOLTEK microchip, and communicates with the data integration unit via wire I2C interface. The power detection units transmit the measurement values of current and voltage to the controller of the system. The main controller of the power detection system is PC-based system, and communicates with the data integration unit via wire RS232 interface. The main controller of the system can controls each power output ratio of the power sources, and predicts the power loading and the residual power for each power detection unit using auto-regression algorithm, and computes the residual time of mobile robots to work in the free space, and arrange the residual power of the enough power source to the weakness power sources using sequential single-item auction algorithm. In experiment result, the residual power prediction system can adjusts the power sources to increase the working time.  相似文献

Creating multi-user virtual worlds is a relatively new challenge for developers of virtual reality applications. It is especially challenging to build networked VR systems based on inexpensive PC-based hardware, due to limitations in system software and inefficient networking hardware. This article explains how we created a multi-person shared virtual environment using DOS-based PCs. It also covers some of the design goals in creating a collaborative design tool for creating and modifying virtual buildings. 针对传统基于PC的机器视觉系统因其结构没有模块化,可移植性差,与工业现场设备通信比较困难等缺点,设计了基于嵌入式机器视觉的测控系统,该系统以DM642芯片为视觉图像处理单元,其控制单元为GTS-400系列运动控制器,硬件电路为基于RS232通信的DSP与运动控制器,并通过编程完成目标识别、通讯、控制功能。实验结果表明,该系统的图像处理单元成功检测到目标后,图像处理单元输出的信号能够被运动控制器快速捕捉并控制伺服电机实现点位运动。对嵌入式机器视觉应用于运动控制系统具有现实意义。 关键词:嵌入式机器视觉;DM642;运动控制器;通信  相似文献
