The synthesis and the optimization of three-dimensional (3-D) lens antennas, consisting of homogeneous dielectric lenses of arbitrary shape and fed by printed sources, are studied theoretically and experimentally at millimeter(mm)-wave frequencies. The aim of the synthesis procedure is to find a lens profile that transforms the radiation pattern of the primary feed into a desired amplitude shaped output pattern. This synthesis problem has been previously applied for dielectric lenses and reflectors. As far as we know, we propose, for the first time, to adapt and implement it for the design of substrate lens antennas. The inverse scattering problem is solved in two steps. In the first one, the geometry of the 3-D lens is rigorously derived using geometrical optics (GO) principles. The resulting second-order partial-differential equation is strongly nonlinear and is of the Monge-Ampe/spl grave/re (M.A) type. The iterative algorithm implemented to solve it is described in detail. Then, a surface optimization of the lens profile combined with an analysis kernel based on physical optics (PO) is performed in order to comply with the prescribed pattern. Our algorithms are successfully validated with the design of a lens antenna radiating an asymmetric Gaussian pattern at 58.5 GHz whose half-power beamwidth equals 10/spl deg/ in H plane and 30/spl deg/ in E plane. The lens is illuminated by a microstrip 2/spl times/2 patch antenna array. Two lens prototypes have been manufactured in Teflon. Before optimization, the measured radiation patterns are in very good agreement with the predicted ones; nevertheless, the -12 dB side lobes and oscillations appearing in the main lobe evidence a strong difference between the desired and measured patterns. A new artificial neural-network-based methodology for a microstrip antenna design was studied and presented. The methodology is applicable to DCS, GSM, WLL, WLAN, large band planar antennas, and fractals. In this paper, we present five applications of this methodology, three of which are applicable in the WLL, 802.11a, and 802.11b antenna standards. The two others are broadband designs with 500 MHz and 1 GHZ bandwidth, respectively. All the antennas radiate an end-fire beam, and have compact sizes of 29 mm /spl times/ 25 mm, 10 mm /spl times/ 13.5 mm, 10.3 mm /spl times/ 17.2 mm, 35 mm /spl times/ 25 mm, and 35 mm /spl times/ 25 mm, respectively.  相似文献

为了获得激光精细加工需要的能量集中且均匀分布的平顶聚焦激光束,利用衍射理论研究了畸变透镜对高斯光束衍射变换的作用,导出了解析计算式,进而获知畸变透镜如何对激光束平顶化聚焦的原理。用Matlab软件进行计算模拟,讨论了畸变透镜对高斯光束平顶化聚焦的情形和影响因素。表明利用畸变透镜对高斯光束平顶化聚焦是可行的。用这种方法获得的平顶化聚焦激光束可用于激光精细加工、微光机电系统和医学治疗等领域发挥重要作用。  相似文献

A simple and compact design of dual-band slot antenna is presented. Fed by a CPW, the antenna is printed on a single-layer PCB with extremely low manufacturing cost. A pair of T-match stubs is employed to generate the dual resonances in the 2.4-2.5 and 5-6 GHz bands. The antenna of small radiating area 11/spl times/28 mm/sup 2/ is demonstrated on an FR4 PCB with ground plane size of 31/spl times/35 mm/sup 2/. Robust radiation performances are achieved, including in-band gain flatness within +/- 0.5 dB and polarisation isolation better than 15 dB. Consistent radiation patterns for both bands are obtained with peak gains about 3 and 4 dBi in the lower and upper bands, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, a compact master-oscillator power-amplifier laser system incorporating telescopic beam expansion in a high-gain double-pass amplifier is presented. A miniature (0.5 W) master-oscillator copper vapor laser is used to efficiently extract over 37 W of high-beam-quality (full transverse coherence) output power from a kinetically enhanced nominally 35-W copper vapor laser at 12-kHz pulse repetition frequency. By configuring the oscillator for low coherence output and using a multimode optical fiber between the oscillator and the double-pass amplifier, a high-power (34 W) low-divergence output beam having a well-defined flat-top far-field beam profile was also produced. The flat-top farfield beam profile arises from control of the spatial coherence of a flat-top near-field beam, rather than the usual techniques for producing flattened Gaussian beams from coherent Gaussian beams. Use of the flat-top focused beam for high-speed percussion drilling of high quality 100-/spl mu/m diameter holes in metals was demonstrated, as well as high-power (34-W average power, 80-kW peak power) damage-free power transmission through 100-/spl mu/m core diameter step-index optical fibers.  相似文献

We describe a compact free-space photonic-switching module that uses micro-beam optical interconnections based on stacked planar optics and exciton absorption reflection switch (EARS) arrays. The switching module has two-dimensional fiber array pigtails and a two-stage, 16-input, 16-output structure (four sets of 4/spl times/4 switches). The microbeam optical interconnections can provide a compact switching module (approximately 30/spl times/90/spl times/22 mm [60 cc]). A relay lens array inserted between stages eliminates beam spreading in the switch and decreases the coupling loss and crosstalk of interconnections. Two-stage switching at a data transmission rate of 4 Mbit/s is demonstrated.  相似文献

A novel method is proposed to shape or switch the radiating beam of a reflectarray antenna by slight displacement of its layers with respect to each other. A reflectarray, which is a quasi-periodic structure composed of microstrip patches loaded by slot elements, is used in this scheme. The required phase shift at each position on the reflectarray surface is obtained by varying the slot length on the ground plane. Several groups of slots are etched on the slot layer and each group corresponds to one and the same beam. Mechanical alignment of the slots that belong to a certain group with the patch leads to activation of the corresponding beam. This method was used to design a reflectarray antenna with three beams at /spl plusmn/30/spl deg/ and 0/spl deg/. Measurement results demonstrated the validity of the design procedure.  相似文献

The design and development of a Rotman lens for operation at 94 GHz which feeds an antenna array for beamsteering applications is presented. The construction is completely realised in waveguide technology. The lens consists of 15 beam ports covering a scan range of /spl plusmn/23.3/spl deg/ in steps of 3.3/spl deg/ and 10 array ports connected via phase compensating transmission lines to a linear antenna array. This paper describes a 0.35-/spl mu/m CMOS chopper-stabilized switched-capacitor 2-1 cascade /spl Sigma//spl Delta/ modulator for automotive sensor interfaces. The modulator architecture has been selected from an exhaustive comparison among multiple topologies in terms of resolution, speed and power dissipation. To obtain a better fitting with the characteristics of different sensor outputs, the circuit can be digitally programmed to yield four input-to-output gain values (/spl times/0.5,/spl times/1,/spl times/2, and /spl times/4) and has been designed to operate within the stringent environmental conditions of automotive electronics (temperature range of -40/spl deg/C to 175/spl deg/C). In order to relax the amplifier's dynamic requirements for the different modulator input-to-output gains, switchable capacitor arrays are used for all the capacitors in the first integrator. The design of the building blocks is based on a top-down CAD methodology which combines simulation and statistical optimization at different levels of the modulator hierarchy. The circuit is clocked at 5.12 MHz and the overall power consumption is 14.7 mW from a single 3.3-V supply and occupies 5.7 mm/sup 2/ silicon area. Experimental results show a maximum SNR of 87.3 dB within a 20-kHz signal bandwidth and 90.7 dB for 10-kHz signals, and an overall DR of 110 and 113.8dB, respectively. These performance features place the reported circuit at the cutting edge of state-of-the-art high-resolution /spl Sigma//spl Delta/ modulators.  相似文献

We propose a novel package topology integrating multilayer miniaturized antennas. Such a functional package is suitable for the design of a system-on-chip device, or of system-on-package applications. A stacked patch antenna is designed and integrated in a package using a low temperature co-fired ceramic process. The overall size of the package is 10.3/spl times/10.3/spl times/1.3 mm/sup 3/, and this package contains an 8.3/spl times/8.3/spl times/0.7 mm/sup 3/ internal space for the integration of chip-scale packaged components. The package is mounted on a 20/spl times/20 mm/sup 2/ ground plane to miniaturize the volume of the system. The antenna is designed to have two neighboring resonant frequencies at 5.264 and 5.355 GHz, resulting in a 140 MHz impedance bandwidth. However, the measured resonant frequencies occur at slightly higher frequencies due to manufacturing tolerances. Radiation patterns are similar to a conventional patch antenna. In addition, various parasitic effects rooted in the package size, ground size, antenna height, SMA connector, via misalignment, and the number of via holes and their locations are fully investigated.  相似文献

A highly miniaturised rectangular microstrip patch antenna using deformation of the patch structure has been designed and fabricated at a frequency of 1.575 GHz (GPS). The fabricated antenna has a patch with an overall rectangular shape and depressed at its four corners (corner depressed microstrip patch antenna, CDMPA). In the linear polarisation, at a fixed rate of 1.2 of width/length (W/L), the CDMPA (53/spl times/63.6 mm) is reduced to 43.9% of the general plane type microstrip patch antenna (MPA, 80/spl times/96 mm) in patch size. The gain is 4.3 dBd which is lower than that of the general MPA (8 dBd) by 3.7 dB. In the circular polarisation, the patch size of the CDMPA (54.2/spl times/61.5 mm) is reduced to 52.8% of that of the MPA (76/spl times/83 mm). The axial ratio (AR) and axial ratio band width (ARBW) within 2 dB are 1.5 dB and 20 MHz (1.27%), respectively. The gain is 2.5 dBd, which is lower than that (4.2 dBd) of the general MPA by 1.7 dB.  相似文献

A general and flexible synthesis method based on the physical optics approximation is proposed for computing smooth-surface reliefs of reflectors. As a design example, the method has been applied to a quasi-optical power splitter consisting of two reflectors in a dual-offset configuration that couples a launched beam from a pyramidal horn antenna into a 2/spl times/4 horn antenna array. The two reflectors were treated as diffractive phase elements so that the proposed synthesis method allows reflector designs for many applications. The quasi-optical design has been confirmed at 150 GHz utilizing a vector field measurement system. The measured field distribution in the receiving antenna array plane is compared with the simulated one and shows a very good agreement.  相似文献

A simple and low-cost multiple beam phased array is designed using a microstrip Rotman lens and multi-line phase shifter controlled by a piezoelectric transducer (PET) at Ka-band. A microstrip Rotman lens with five beam ports and nine array ports is used as a feed for a multiple beam antenna array to generate five beams centered at the angles of 0/spl deg/, /spl plusmn/15/spl deg/, and /spl plusmn/30/spl deg/. The lens fed nine-element patch array shows the antenna gain of 10 dBi and sidelobe suppression of 10 dB. Each beam is steered over /spl plusmn/8/spl deg/ using two PET-controlled phase shifters, and the five beams cover /spl plusmn/38/spl deg/ from the broadside.  相似文献

A back surface illuminated 130/spl times/130 pixel PtSi Schottky-barrier (SB) IR-CCD image sensor has been developed by using new wiring technology, referred to as CLOSE Wiring, CLOSE Wiring, designed to effectively utilize the space over the SB photodiodes, brings about flexibility in clock line designing, high fill factor, and large charge handling capability in a vertical CCD (VCCD). This image sensor uses a progressive scanned interline-scheme, and has a 64.4% fill factor in a 30 /spl mu/m/spl times/30 /spl mu/m pixel, a 3.9 mm/spl times/3.9 mm image area, and a 5.5 mm/spl times/5.5 mm chip size. The charge handling capability for the 3.3 /spl mu/m wide VCCD achieves 9.8/spl times/10/sup 5/ electrons, The noise equivalent temperature difference obtained was 0.099 K for operation at 120 frames/sec with a 50 mm f/1.3 lens.<>  相似文献

This paper presents the design, fabrication, and operation of a newly developed micromechanical optical scanner array using a translating microlens. We have used photoresist reflow technique to form a microlens on a surface micromachined XY-stage of the scratch-drive actuation mechanism. The lens scanner is placed at the focal length from an incident optical fiber to collimate the transmitting light. The collimated beam is steered two-dimensionally by the XY-motion of the microlens with respect to the incident fiber. We also have developed a theoretical model to predict appropriate initial resist thickness and diameter for the scanning lens. An optical scanning angle of /spl plusmn/7/spl deg/ has been demonstrated by sliding a microlens of 670-/spl mu/m focal length at a physical stroke of /spl plusmn/67 /spl mu/m. Typical angular positioning resolution has been estimated to be 0.018/spl deg/.  相似文献

Eliminating the corporate feed network in shaped contour beam antennas will reduce the expense, weight, and RF loss of the antenna system. One way of producing a shaped contour beam without using a feed network is to use a single shaped reflector with a single feed element. For a prescribed contour beam and feed, an optimization method for designing the reflector shape is given. As a design example, a shaped reflector is designed to produce a continental-United-States (CONUS) coverage beam. This work presents a half-moon antenna (HMA), which is composed of two semi-circular top and bottom conducting plates joined by a rectangular conducting plate. The HMA has a wide radiation beam. Radiation in the y-z plane (in the E plane) is hemispherical with a half-power beam width (HPBW) of more than 200/spl deg/. Radiation in the x-y plane (in the H plane) forms a sector beam with an HPBW of more than 100/spl deg/. To reduce the backward radiation and improve the gain, chokes are added to the HMA. An increase in the gain of approximately 1 dB is obtained. In order to obtain a tilted beam, the radius of the bottom plate is reduced. The maximum beam direction of the tilted beam /spl theta//sub max/ is not sensitive to frequency. Within a frequency range of 11 to 14 GHz (24%), /spl theta//sub max/=167/spl deg//spl plusmn/2/spl deg/. The gain is found to be G=9.5/spl plusmn/0.5 dBi within this same frequency range.  相似文献

半导体激光器(LD)输出光束受工作电流、个体差异的影响,发散角、输出光强出现波动。常规衍射光学元件(DOE)的激光光束整形设计只针对特定的输入输出光场,使用宽容度比较小。文中在LD 的整形中利用DOE 阵列化的处理,输入光场被分割成许多小单元,不同强度的光重新在成像平面内预定的区域内叠加,实现对光束的整形。用均匀平面波设计阵列DOE 每个单元,把高斯分布的球面波整形成品字形光强分布,衍射效率为90.53%,均匀性大约为96%;发散角在快、慢轴方向上2~16的范围内变化,均匀性为95.8%以上、衍射效率为90%以上;在离焦量16 m 内,光束质量变化不大。阵列DOE 提高了LD 光束整形系统的稳定性。  相似文献
