Recent technological advancements in polymeric buckypaper materials have brought spotlight on polymer/nanodiamond buckypaper. This review is designed as systematic and comprehensive source of information and research on nanodiamond, polymer/nanodiamond nanocomposite and buckypaper, and technological advancement in this field. Structure, properties, and manufacturing techniques of polymer/nanodiamond buckypaper are reviewed. Because of outstanding physical properties, polymer-based buckypaper has been used as potential contenders in nanofilter, supercapacitor, fuel cell, electrical components, and biomedical devices. However, property dependence in relation to chemical structure is not fully identified in the literature. To find out further technical suitability of polymer/nanodiamond materials are still among predominant research challenges.  相似文献

This review mainly concentrates on polyvinyl chloride/carbon nanofiller-based composites. The present study focused upon synthetic strategies and relevance of polyvinyl chloride/graphite, polyvinyl chloride/graphene, polyvinyl chloride/graphene oxide, and polyvinyl chloride/carbon nanotube nanocomposite. Among carbon-based reinforcement, graphene oxide nanofiller depicted better dispersion in polyvinyl chloride matrix. The electrical, mechanical, thermal, and morphological properties of these nanocomposites are also discussed. Moreover, future potential of these materials are elucidated. There is relatively little literature available regarding polyvinyl chloride-based nanocomposite. The main aim of this article is to therefore particularize the polyvinyl chloride-based nanocomposites and expose their concealed properties to enable better use of these new materials in different technical fields.  相似文献

This review is a comprehensive source for synthesis, functionalization, and physical properties of polymer/carbon nanotube nanocomposites. The effectiveness of processing methods for carbon nanotube reinforcement in matrix for proper dispersion and appropriate interfacial adhesion is discussed. The novelty of polymer/carbon nanotube buckypaper fabrication with preformed networks through microfiltration of nanotube suspension has also been discussed. Moreover, preparation, properties, and manufacturing proficiencies of buckypaper are reviewed. Different approaches of intertwining buckypaper through infiltration, compression, soaking, and dry transfer have been analyzed. The polymer/carbon nanotube buckypaper obtained by vacuum infiltration has micron-scale bicontinuous morphology and improved thermal properties due to effectual heat transfer within nanotube rich phase.  相似文献

Owing to non-toxicity and biocompatibility, water-soluble polymers (polyethylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol, poly(N-isopropylacryl-amide), and polyvinylpyrrolidone) have different applications in civil engineering, paint industry, and environmental industries. Portland cement is made up of various kinds of components such as concrete, mortar, and stucco. The quality of cement can be enhanced by adding different fillers such as slag, silica fume, fly ash, and natural pozzolan. Carbon nanofillers (carbon nanotube and graphite) and inorganic fillers such as CaCO3, Mg(OH)2, talc, and mica are used in polymer/cement composites to enhance their properties. Polymer/cement composite with lightweight aggregates are best for several future composite applications.  相似文献

Several conducting polymers, including polyaniline, polypyrrole, polythiophene, polyvinylpyrrolidone, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene), poly(m-phenylenediamine), polynaphthylamine, poly(p-phenylene sulfide), and their carbon nanotube reinforced nanocomposites are discussed in this review. The physical, electrical, structural and thermal properties of polymers along with synthesis methods are discussed. A concise note on carbon nanotubes regarding their purification, functionalization, properties and production are reported. Moreover, the article focuses upon synthesis methods, properties and applications of conducting polymer/carbon nanotube nanocomposites are focused. Nanotube dispersion, loading concentration and alignment within conducting polymer/carbon nanotube nanocomposite affect their performance and morphology. The conducting polymer/carbon nanotube nanocomposites are substantially used in sensors, energy storage devices, supercapacitors, solar cells, EMI materials, diodes, and coatings.  相似文献

In this article, applications of polymer and graphite-derived nanofiller composite have been presented with special emphasis on epoxy composite. Various types of graphitic nanofillers such as graphite, graphene oxide, graphene, and graphene nanoplatelets are reviewed. Recently, polymer/graphite, polymer/graphene oxide, polymer/graphene, and polymer/graphene nanoplatelet-based materials have gained interest due to high performance. Property enhancement is due to high aspect ratio; high surface area; excellent electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties of nanofillers. The filler dispersion depends upon selection of suitable fabrication technique. We also reported on applications of epoxy/graphite-based filler composites in technical fields such as Li-ion batteries, sensors, and solar cells.  相似文献

In this review, potential and properties of carbon nanotube, graphite, graphene oxide, and clay nanofiller have been deliberated with reference to aerospace application. The polymers discussed as matrices are polypropylene, polyaniline, polyurethane, polystyrene, and polyamide. Main focus of the review is to converse space competency of polymer/carbon nanotube, polymer/graphite, polymer/graphene oxide, and polymer/clay nanocomposite. The effect of nanofiller addition on the desired aerospace properties of polymeric nanocomposite has been conversed. Attractive features are high glass transition temperature, thermal stability, high modulus, chemical resistance, and nonflammability. Toward the end, challenges in the enhancement of materials’ properties for aerospace relevance have been considered.  相似文献

Buckypaper (BP) assembled by carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is considered as a promising macroscopic material with excellent multifunctional properties. However, the poor interfacial stress-transfer ability between CNTs seriously limits its further applications. This paper proposes a novel approach to simultaneously improve both the tensile strength and the toughness of BPs, where a commercial poly(amido amine) (PAMAM) dendrimer is utilized to serve as an interfacial bridging agent, by realizing effective chemical cross-linking between CNTs. The result shows that the introduction of PAMAM can increase the tensile strength, Young's modulus, and toughness by 306%, 168%, 1007%, respectively, compared with that of pristine BPs based on weak van der Waals interactions. In addition, molecular dynamics (MD) simulation is employed to reveal the proposed interfacial enhancement. It is found that the elastic deformation, uncoiling, interlocking of PAMAM dendrimers, and chemical bonds between PAMAM dendrimers and CNTs contribute to the improvement of the macroscopic strength and toughness of BPs. More importantly, it is found that the formed amido bonds are very strong, and the breakage of chemical bonds occurs at C─N bonds within PAMAM themselves. This work provides a new route for interfacial structure design and an in-depth understanding of mechanical properties of BPs.  相似文献

In this review, an overview of polymer and carbon nanotube composite is presented with special emphasis on their applications in technical fields. The general applications of polymer/carbon nanotube nanocomposite in actuators, sensors, sporting goods, and so on have been discussed. In addition, special features of epoxy and epoxy/carbon nanotube composites were discussed in detail. Enhancement in the characteristic features of epoxy matrix with the incorporation of carbon nanotube has been observed. Consequently, the main focus of the review is on applications of epoxy/carbon nanotube composites in different fields such as aerospace, automobiles, fuel cells, radar-absorbing material, wind turbine blades, and electromagnetic interface shielding.  相似文献

Hybrid of acid functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes and layered double hydroxides were prepared by coprecipitation reaction of the Al(NO3)9H2O, Mg(NO3)6H2O, and acid functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes under ultrasonic irradiation. An optically active amino acid containing poly(amide-imide) was synthesized by the direct polycondensation reaction of the N,N′-(pyromellitoyl)-bis-L-isoleucine diacid and diamine using molten tetra-n-butylammonium bromide. These three-dimensional nanofillers were used as reinforcing agent to enhance the performance of chiral poly(amide-imide). The structure and morphology of the hybrid materials were confirmed by Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, field emission and transmission electron microscopy, and thermogravimetry analysis techniques.  相似文献
