Complex permittivity and related AC conductivity measurements in the frequency range between 10−4 and 107 Hz are presented for composites of polycarbonate (PC) filled with different amounts of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNT) varying in the range between 0.5 and 5 wt%. The composites were obtained by diluting a PC based masterbatch containing 15 wt% MWNT by melt mixing using a Micro Compounder. From DC conductivity measurements it was found that for samples processed at a mixing screw speed of 150 rpm for 5 min, the percolation occurs at a threshold concentration (pc) between 1.0 and 1.5 wt% MWNT. For concentrations of MWNT near the percolation threshold, the processing conditions (screw speed and mixing time) were varied. The differences in the dispersion of the MWNT in the PC matrix could be detected in the complex permittivity and AC conductivity spectra, and have been explained by changes in pc. The AC conductivity and permittivity spectra are discussed in terms of charge carrier diffusion on percolation clusters and resistor-capacitor composites.  相似文献

Poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK)/multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWNT) composites containing up to 17 wt% filler were prepared using a twin screw extruder. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images reveal that the MWNTs were homogeneously dispersed in the PEEK matrix. Linear viscoelastic measurements show that both complex viscosity and moduli increase with increasing MWNT concentration. The storage modulus, G exhibits a dramatic seven order increase in magnitude around 1 wt%, leading to a solid-like low-frequency behaviour at higher loadings; the effect can be attributed to network formation at a rheological percolation threshold. Rheotens measurements show that the melt strength also increases significantly on addition of nanotubes, however, the drawability decreases. An analytical Wagner model was used to calculate the apparent elongational viscosity over a wide range of elongational rates, and to reveal significant increases on addition of MWNTs, with a similar threshold behaviour. The electrical response is also dominated by percolation effects, increasing by nearly 10 orders of magnitude from 10−11 to 10−1 S/cm, on the addition of only 2 wt% MWNTs. In contrast, the thermal conductivity and tensile elastic modulus of the composites increased linearly with nanotube content, rising by 130% and 50%, at 17 wt% MWNTs, respectively.  相似文献

Coagulation method was first used to prepare nanocomposites of multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNT) and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET). The morphology of nanocomposites is characterized using transmission electronic microscopy and scanning electronic microscopy. A coating on MWNT by PET chains is observed by comparison of micrographs of purified MWNT and MWNT encapsulated by PET chains in the nanocomposites, and this coating is considered as evidence of interfacial interaction between MWNT and PET chains. Both electrical conductivity and rheological properties have been well characterized. With increasing MWNT loading, the nanocomposites undergo transition from electrically insulative to conductive at room temperature, while the melts show transition from liquid-like to solid-like viscoelasticity. The percolation threshold of 0.6 wt% (based on viscosity) for rheological property and 0.9 wt% for electrical conductivity has been found. The low percolation threshold results from homogeneous dispersion of MWNT in PET matrix and high aspect ratio of MWNT. The less rheological percolation threshold than electrical percolation threshold is mainly attributed to the fact that a denser MWNT network is required for electrical conductivity, while a less dense MWNT network sufficiently impedes PET chain mobility related to the rheological percolation threshold.  相似文献

The physicochemical, surface and catalytic properties of 10 and 20 wt% CuO, NiO or (CuO–NiO) supported on cordierite (commercial grade) calcined at 350–700 °C were investigated using XRD, EDX, nitrogen adsorption at −196 °C and CO oxidation by O2 at 220–280 °C. The results obtained revealed that the employed cordierite preheated at 350–700 °C was well-crystallized magnesium aluminum silicate (Mg2Al4Si5O18). Loading of 20 wt% CuO or NiO on the cordierite surface followed by calcination at 350 °C led to dissolution of a limited amount of both CuO and NiO in the cordierite lattice. The portions of CuO and NiO dissolved increased upon increasing the calcination temperature. Treating a cordierite sample with 20 wt% (CuO–NiO) followed by heating at 350 °C led to solid–solid interaction between some of the oxides present yielding nickel cuprate. The formation of NiCuO2 was stimulated by increasing the calcination temperature above 350 °C. However, raising the temperature up to ≥550 °C led to distortion of cuprate phase. The chemical affinity towards the formation of NiCuO2 acted as a driving force for migration of some of copper and nickel oxides from the bulk of the solid towards their surface by heating at 500–700 °C. The SBET of cordierite increased several times by treating with small amounts of NiO, CuO or their binary mixtures. The increase was, however, less pronounced upon treating the cordierite support with CuO–NiO. The catalytic activity of the cordierite increased progressively by increasing the amount of oxide(s) added. The mixed oxides system supported on cordierite and calcined at 450–700 °C exhibited the highest catalytic activity due to formation of the nickel cuprate phase. However, the catalytic activity of the mixed oxides system reached a maximum limit upon heating at 500 °C then decreased upon heating at temperature above this limit due to the deformation of the nickel cuprate phase.  相似文献

Cu2O/ x Cu ( x =0–25 wt%) cermets were evaluated as a novel partially inert anode for aluminum (Al) production. The physical and mechanical properties, including the compressive strength, flexural strength, thermal expansion coefficient, thermal conductivity, and dc electrical conductivity were tested at room temperature and at temperatures up to 950°C. The coefficient of thermal expansion, compressive strength, flexural strength, thermal conductivity, and electrical conductivity of Cu2O/Cu cermets increased with increasing Cu content. High-temperature electrical conductivity measurements showed that with increasing temperature, the electrical conductivity increased when the Cu content was below the percolation threshold, while it decreased when the Cu content was above the percolation threshold. A relatively stable CuAlO2 layer formed on the cermet surface during electrochemical testing, and the corrosion rate of this anode was estimated to be about 1.8–1.9 cm/year in Al production.  相似文献

Blends of polypropylene/ethylene octene comonomer (PP/EOC) with conducting fillers viz., carbon black (CB) and multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNT) were prepared using melt mixing technique with varying filler concentration and blend compositions. Thermo gravimetric analysis studies indicated that presence of filler enhanced the thermal stability of PP/EOC blends. Morphological analysis revealed the formation of matrix‐dispersed droplet and co‐continuous type of morphology depending on the blend compositions. Significant reduction in droplet size and finer ligament thickness in co‐continuous structure were observed in the blends with filler due to compatibilization action. Fillers were found to be aggregated in the EOC phase irrespective of blends compositions and could be related to the affinity of the fillers toward EOC phase. The electrical conductivity of PP/EOC blends with CB and MWNT was found to be highest for 80/20 composition and decreased as EOC content increased. The percolation threshold of CB was between 10 and 15 wt% for the 80/20 and 70/30 blends whereas it was 15–20 wt% for blends with EOC content higher than 30 wt%. The percolation threshold was 2–3 wt% MWNT for PP/EOC blends. This was attributed to the aggregated filler network preferentially in the EOC phase. The melt‐rheological behavior of PP/EOC blends was significantly influenced in presence of both the fillers. POLYM. ENG. SCI., 2009. © 2009 Society of Plastics Engineers  相似文献

Frequency dependent investigations of conductivity and dielectric permittivity have been performed on composites of polypropylene (PP) containing different amounts of 2, 3.5, and 5 wt% of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) in the melt and during crystallization. The experiments were performed in a measurement slit die containing two dielectric sensors in plate-plate geometry, which was flanged to the outlet of a single screw laboratory extruder. AC conductivity and the related complex permittivity were measured in the frequency range from 20 Hz to 106 Hz after stopping the extruder (recovery after shearing) and during cooling (non-isothermal crystallization). For a sample with a MWNT content of 2 wt% the AC conductivity shows a tremendous increase with time after shearing was stopped. This conductivity recovery is explained by the reorganization of the conducting network-like filler structure, which was partially destroyed by the shear. The reformation kinetics of filler clusters is assumed to be due to a cooperative aggregation. For conductive fillers in a thermoplastic matrix the kinetics of cooperative aggregation is coupled to the electrical percolation. The reorganization of the percolation network can be related to reformation of (i) the local contact regions between the nanotubes (separated by polymer chains) and (ii) to the reorientation of nanotubes oriented in the shear flow. The conductivity recovery is less pronounced for samples with MWNT concentrations well above the percolation threshold. During cooling of the melt to temperatures below crystallization a significant decrease in the conductivity and permittivity was detected. This is consistently expressed in the conductivity and permittivity spectra and can be explained by reduction of the amorphous phase (high ion mobility) on expense of the crystalline phase and/or by crystalline regions in the contact region between tubes.  相似文献

Blends were prepared from a high density polyethylene (PE) material and a conductive polycarbonate (PC) composite containing multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNT). The PC composite contained 2 wt% MWNT and was prepared by diluting a PC masterbatch consisting of 15 wt% MWNT by melt mixing in an extruder. The aim of blending a conductive PC composite with PE was to obtain a conductive blend at lower amounts of MWNT than required for the pure PC component. The blend morphology was found to be co-continuous over a broad composition range of 30–80 vol.% of the filled PC phase as verified by selective extraction of PC and morphological investigations. The co-continuous structure is very fine with ligaments in the range of 1 μm. Significantly reduced volume resistivity values, i.e. in the range of 107 Ω cm, could be achieved in the same composition range of that of the continuous PC phase, i.e. starting at compositions of 30 vol.% filled PC. Here, the total MWNT content in the blend was only 0.41 vol.%. Interestingly, even if the MWNT had been incorporated in the PC phase, the tubes are still visible in the blends after selective extraction of PC. Scanning electron microscopy investigations revealed that the MWNT bridge the PC and PE phases, at least with their ends. This can be understood by the length dimensions of the tubes, which is higher than the phase sizes in the blends.  相似文献

Nanocomposites of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were prepared through melt blending in a batch mixer (torque rheometer equipped with a mixing chamber). The morphology, rheological behavior and electrical conductivity were investigated through transmission electron microscopy, dynamic oscillatory rheometry and the two‐probe method. The nanocomposite with 0.5 wt% MWCNT content presented a uniform dispersion through the PVDF matrix, whereas that with 1 wt% started to present a percolated network. For the nanocomposites with 2 and 5 wt% MWCNTs the formation of this nanotube network was clearly evident. The electrical percolation threshold at room temperature found for this system was about 1.2 wt% MWCNTs. The rheological percolation threshold fitted from viscosity was about 1 wt%, while the threshold fitted from storage modulus was 0.9 wt%. Thus fewer nanotubes are needed to approach the rheological percolation threshold than the electrical percolation threshold. Copyright © 2010 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The dielectric permittivity of Na0.80K0.20NbO3 ceramic was investigated by impedance spectroscopy. The dielectric characterization was performed from room temperature to 800 °C, in the frequency range 5 Hz–13 MHz. The bulk permittivity was derived by the variation of the imaginary part of the impedance as a function of reciprocal angular frequency. The permittivity values as a function of temperature showed two maxima. The first maximum is very similar at 200 °C and the second one positioned at around 400 °C, which was associated to Curie’s temperature. The evolution of the complex permittivity as a function of frequency and temperature was investigated. At low frequency dispersion was investigated in terms of dielectric loss. The Na0.80K0.20NbO3 showed a dissipation factor between 5 and 40 over a frequency range from 1 to 102 kHz.  相似文献

This study has reported the preparation of polycarbonate (PC)/graphene nanoplate (GNP)/multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) hybrid composite by simple melt mixing method of PC with GNP and MWCNT at 330°C above the processing temperature of the PC (processing temperature is 280°C) followed by compression molding. Through optimizing the ratio of (GNP/MWCNT) in the composites, high electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE) value (∼21.6 dB) was achieved at low (4 wt%) loading of (GNP/MWCNT) and electrical conductivity of ≈6.84 × 10−5 S.cm−1 was achieved at 0.3 wt% (GNP/MWCNT) loading with low percolation threshold (≈0.072 wt%). The high temperature melt mixing of PC with nanofillers lowers the melt viscosity of the PC that has helped for better dispersion of the GNPs and MWCNTs in the PC matrix and plays a key factor for achieving high EMI shielding value and high electrical conductivity with low percolation threshold than ever reported in PC/MWCNT or PC/graphene composites. With this method, the formation of continuous conducting interconnected GNP‐CNT‐GNP or CNT‐GNP‐CNT network structure in the matrix polymer and strong π–π interaction between the electron rich phenyl rings and oxygen atom of PC chain, GNP, and MWCNT could be possible throughout the composites. The electrical resistivity of pure mullite (3Al2O3.2SiO2) varies from 1013 ohm-cm at room temperature (r.t.) to 104 ohm-cm at 1400 °C. It was observed that by doping mullite with the 3d-type transition metal ions, e.g. Mn, Fe, Cr and Ti, the resistivity of mullite could be reduced to 1011 ohm-cm, i.e. 1/100 that at r.t. and 1/5 that at 1400 °C. The resistivity of doped and undoped mullite decreased by 6–5 orders at about 500–600 °C but 4–3 orders between this temperature and 1400 °C. The 3d orbital electrons, the oxidation states and the concentration of the transition metal ions as well as the sites of mullite lattice occupied by the ions were found responsible for lowering of resistivity of mullite. Evidence of the presence of Mn2+, Mn3+, Fe3+, Cr3+ and Ti4+ ions in mullite had been obtained which entered the octahedral site. The Ti4+ ion which substituted Al3+ ion in the octahedral site of mullite structure appeared to be the most efficient one to reduce the resistivity. This has been confirmed by the results of activation energy of resistivity/band gap energy, Eg which was the lowest for mullite doped with 1·0 wt% Ti4+ ion. At 1·0 wt% concentration level, these ions lowered the resistivity of mullite to minimum.  相似文献

In this paper a series of impedance measurements in the frequency range 10−4−2 × 105 Hz and in the temperature range 20–170°C is reported for the cell: Li-metal/LiSCN [dissolved in poly (ethyleneoxide)]/Li-metal. On the basis of the measurements a whole range of electrical properties such as the conductivity, the charge transfer resistance, the transport number for the Li+-ion, the double layer capacity and the dielectric constant were determined for the polymer complex. The most important findings were (1) two regions with linear log σ vs 1/T plots and a transition temperature between the regions of 80°C and (2) the fact that both ions were mobile in the polymer complex with the Li+-ion having a transport number of 0.54 independent of temperature.  相似文献

Three different industrially available multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWNT) materials were directly incorporated into polycarbonate by melt mixing using a small-scale compounder. Despite of similar aspect ratios the electrical percolation behaviour was different. TEM investigations reveal significant differences in the nanotube dispersion which can be attributed to different dispersability of the raw MWNT materials. It is shown that the investigation of the sedimentation behaviour of aqueous MWNT dispersions is a simple method to estimate the nanotube dispersability. The relationships between melt processing conditions and MWNT dispersion and distribution were studied on polycarbonate samples containing 0.875 wt% MWNT prepared by masterbatch dilution. During melt mixing only high shear forces can provide suitable MWNT dispersion because firstly the MWNT disentanglement is facilitated and secondly secondary agglomeration is prevented. At low shear agglomeration of formerly well dispersed MWNT could be observed. During hot pressing the network or MWNT arrangement and the resulting electrical conductivity can be manipulated by the processing conditions like melt temperature and pressing speed. A certain nanotube agglomeration can enhance the development of an electrical percolated network as shown by dielectric spectroscopy.  相似文献

Nanocomposites based on poly(iminosebacoyl iminodecamethylene) (PA1010) and multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were successfully prepared by melt blending technique. environmental scanning electron microscope micrographs of the fracture surfaces showed that not only is there an evenly dispersion of MWNTs throughout the PA1010 matrix but also a strongly interfacial adhesion with the matrix. The combined effect of more defects on MWNTs and low temperature buckling fracture is mainly responsible for the broken tubes. Differential scanning calorimeter results showed that the MWNTs acted as a nucleation agent and increased the crystallization rate and decreased crystallite size. In the linear region, rheological measurements showed a distinct change in the frequency dependence of storage modulus, loss modulus, and complex viscosity particularly at low frequencies. We conclude that the rheological percolation threshold might occur when the content of MWNTs is over 2 wt% in the composites. POLYM. ENG. Dependence of the electrical and optical properties of In2O3–10 wt% ZnO (IZO) thin films deposited on glass substrates by RF magnetron sputtering on the annealing atmosphere was investigated. The electrical resistivities of indium zinc oxide (IZO) thin films deposited on glass substrate can be effectively decreased by annealing in an N2 + 10% H2 atmosphere. Higher temperature (200 °C) annealing is more effective in decreasing the electrical resistivity than lower temperature (100 °C) annealing. The lowest resistivity of 6.2 × 10−4 Ω cm was obtained by annealing at 200 °C in an N2 + 10% H2 atmosphere. In contrast, the resistivity was increased by annealing in an oxygen atmosphere. The transmittance of IZO films is improved by annealing regardless of the annealing temperature.  相似文献

YTaO4:Eu3+ powders were synthesized by a flux method with LiCl. The use of a flux in the synthesis of M′–YTaO4 facilitated the reaction of raw materials, leading to lowering the heating temperature, but not effective at the high firing temperature. The red emission peaks were observed around 613 nm with an excitation wavelength of 254 nm. Emission peaks were composed of two sets around 613 nm and 590 nm, which originated from 5D07F2 and 5D07F1, respectively. PL intensity of YTaO4:Eu3+ prepared with a small amount of LiCl (10 wt%) significantly depended on the firing temperatures, while that with a larger amount of LiCl (40 wt%) slightly relied on firing temperatures. The highest PL intensity could be obtained at the firing conditions of 1300 °C and 10 wt% LiCl.  相似文献

The electrical and electromechanical properties of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3–Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 (PMN–PNN–PZT, PMN/PNN/PZT = 20/10/70) on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by chemical solution deposition was investigated. The PMN–PNN–PZT films annealed at 650 °C exhibited slim polarization hysteresis curves and a high dielectric constant of 2100 at room temperature. A broad dielectric maximum at approximately 140–170 °C was observed. The field-induced displacement was measured by scanning probe microscopy, the bipolar displacement was not hysteretic, and the effective piezoelectric coefficient (d33) was 66 × 10−12 m/V. The effective d33 decreased with temperature, but the value at 100 °C remained 45 × 10−12 m/V.  相似文献

Twin-screw extrusion using a co-rotating Berstorff ZE25 extruder was applied to disperse multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT) in poly(lactic acid) (PLA). The masterbatch dilution technique was used whereas four different masterbatches were produced under variation of MWNT content, screw profile, temperature profile, and rotation speed which then were diluted to composites with 0.75 wt% MWNT under varied process conditions. The state of dispersion was investigated by light microscopy from which a dispersion index was quantified. Transmission electron microscopy was performed to observe the MWNT dispersion and network formation in the sub-micron scale. The state of MWNT dispersion within the diluted composites was predominated by the state of filler dispersion in the masterbatches. High rotation speed (500 rpm) that still ensures a certain residence time of the melt combined with a screw profile containing mainly mixing elements were found to be highly convenient to disperse and distribute the MWNT in the PLA matrix as well during masterbatch production as the dilution step. The temperature profile showed less influence, however, an increasing profile resulted in slightly better nanotube dispersions. By means of these processing conditions a percolation set was performed indicating an electrical percolation threshold below 0.5 wt% MWNT content as measured on compression molded samples.  相似文献

A 5 wt% CoOx/TiO2 catalyst has been used to study the effect of calcination temperature on the activity of this catalyst for CO oxidation at 100 °C under a net oxidizing condition in a continuous flow type fixed-bed reactor system, and the catalyst samples have been characterized using TPD, XPS and XRD measurements. The catalyst after calcination at 450 °C gave highest activity for this low-temperature CO oxidation, and XPS measurements yielded that a 780.2-eV Co 2p3/2 main peak appeared with this catalyst sample and this binding energy was similar to that measured with pure Co3O4. After calcination at 570 °C, the catalyst, which had possessed practically no activity in the oxidation reaction, gave a Co 2p3/2 main structure peak at 781.3 eV which was very similar to those obtained for synthesized ConTiOn+2 compounds (CoTiO3 and Co2TiO4), and this catalyst sample had relatively negligible CO chemisorption as observed by TPD spectra. XRD peaks indicating only the formation of Co3O4 particles on titania surface were developed in the catalyst samples after calcination at temperatures ≥350 °C. Based on these characterization results, five types of Co species could be modeled to exist with the catalyst calcined at different temperatures. Among these surface Co species, the Type A clean Co3O4 particles were predominant on a sample of the catalyst after calcination at 450 °C and highly active for CO oxidation at 100 °C, and the calcination at 570 °C gave the Type B Co3O4 particles with complete ConTiOn+2 overlayers inactive for this oxidation reaction.  相似文献
