A series of orange‐red to red phosphorescent heteroleptic CuI complexes (the first ligand: 2,2′‐biquinoline (bq), 4,4′‐diphenyl‐2,2′‐biquinoline (dpbq) or 3,3′‐methylen‐4,4′‐diphenyl‐2,2′‐biquinoline (mdpbq); the second ligand: triphenylphosphine or bis[2‐(diphenylphosphino)phenyl]ether (DPEphos)) have been synthesized and fully characterized. With highly rigid bulky biquinoline‐type ligands, complexes [Cu(mdpbq)(PPh3)2](BF4) and [Cu(mdpbq)(DPEphos)](BF4) emit efficiently in 20 wt % PMMA films with photoluminescence quantum yield of 0.56 and 0.43 and emission maximum of 606 nm and 617 nm, respectively. By doping these complexes in poly(vinyl carbazole) (PVK) or N‐(4‐(carbazol‐9‐yl)phenyl)‐3,6‐bis(carbazol‐9‐yl) carbazole (TCCz), phosphorescent organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) were fabricated with various device structures. The complex [Cu(mdpbq)(DPEphos)](BF4) exhibits the best device performance. With the device structure of ITO/PEDOT/TCCz:[Cu(mdpbq)(DPEphos)](BF4) (15 wt %)/TPBI/LiF/Al (III), a current efficiency up to 6.4 cd A–1 with the Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.61, 0.39) has been realized. To our best knowledge, this is the first report of efficient mononuclear CuI complexes with red emission.  相似文献

Ionic transition‐metal complexes based on silver(I) metal core (Ag‐iTMCs) represent an appealing alternative to other iTMCs in solid‐state lighting owing to (i) their low cost and well‐known synthesis, (ii) the tunable bandgap, and (iii) the highly efficient photoluminescence. However, their electroluminescence behavior is barely studied. Herein, the archetypal green‐emitting Ag‐iTMCs, namely [Ag(4,4′‐dimethoxy‐2,2′‐bipyridine)(Xantphos)]X (X = BF4, PF6, and ClO4), are thoughtfully investigated, revealing their electroluminescent features in light‐emitting electrochemical cells (LECs). Despite optimizing device fabrication and operation, luminance of 40 cd m?2, efficacy of 0.2 cd A?1, and a very poor stability of 30 s are achieved. This outcome encourages the comprehensive study of the degradation mechanism combining electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, and cyclic voltammetry techniques. These results point out the irreversible formation of silver nanoclusters under operation strongly limiting the device performance. As such, LECs are further optimized by (i) changing the counterions (PF6? and ClO4?) and (ii) decoupling electron injection and exciton formation using a double‐layered architecture. The synergy of both approaches leads to a broad exciplex‐like whitish electroluminescence emission (x/y CIE of 0.40/0.44 and color rendering index of 85) with an outstanding improved stability of ≈4 orders of magnitude (>80 h) without losing brightness (35 cd m?2).  相似文献

The cover shows an organic light‐emitting diode with remote metallic cathode, reported by Sarah Schols and co‐workers on p. 136. The metallic cathode is displaced from the light‐emission zone by one to several micrometers. The injected electrons accumulate at an organic heterojunction and are transported to the light‐emission zone by field‐effect. The achieved charge‐carrier mobility and in combination with reduced optical absorption losses because of the remoteness of the cathode may lead to applications as waveguide OLEDs and possibly a laser structure. (The result was obtained in the EU‐funded project “OLAS” IST‐ FP6‐015034.) We describe an organic light‐emitting diode (OLED) using field‐effect to transport electrons. The device is a hybrid between a diode and a field‐effect transistor. Compared to conventional OLEDs, the metallic cathode is displaced by one to several micrometers from the light‐emitting zone. This micrometer‐sized distance can be bridged by electrons with enhanced field‐effect mobility. The device is fabricated using poly(triarylamine) (PTAA) as the hole‐transport material, tris(8‐hydroxyquinoline) aluminum (Alq3) doped with 4‐(dicyanomethylene)‐2‐methyl‐6‐(julolindin‐4‐yl‐vinyl)‐4H‐pyran (DCM2) as the active light‐emitting layer, and N,N′‐ditridecylperylene‐3,4,9,10‐tetracarboxylic diimide (PTCDI‐C13H27), as the electron‐transport material. The obtained external quantum efficiencies are as high as for conventional OLEDs comprising the same materials. The quantum efficiencies of the new devices are remarkably independent of the current, up to current densities of more than 10 A cm–2. In addition, the absence of a metallic cathode covering the light‐emission zone permits top‐emission and could reduce optical absorption losses in waveguide structures. These properties may be useful in the future for the fabrication of solid‐state high‐brightness organic light sources.  相似文献

Monolayer 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) have shown great promise for optoelectronic applications due to their direct bandgaps and unique physical properties. In particular, they can possess photoluminescence quantum yields (PL QY) approaching unity at the ultimate thickness limit, making their application in light‐emitting devices highly promising. Here, large‐area WS2 grown via chemical vapor deposition is synthesized and characterized for visible (red) light‐emitting devices. Detail optical characterization of the synthesized films is performed, which show peak PL QY as high as 12%. Electrically pumped emission from the synthetic WS2 is achieved utilizing a transient‐mode electroluminescence device structure, which consists of a single metal–semiconductor contact and alternating gate fields to achieve bipolar emission. Utilizing this aforementioned structure, a centimeter‐scale ( ≈ 0.5 cm2) visible (640 nm) display is demonstrated, fabricated using TMDCs to showcase the potential of this material system for display applications.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of luminescence from [Cu(dnbp)(DPEPhos)]BF4 (dnbp = 2,9‐di‐n‐butylphenanthroline, DPEPhos = bis[2‐(diphenylphosphino)phenyl]ether) in a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) film indicates the presence of long‐life green emission arising from two thermally equilibrated charge transfer (CT) excited states and one non‐equilibrated triplet ligand center (3LC) excited state. At room temperature, the lower triplet CT state is found to be the predominantly populated excited state, and the zero‐zero energy of this state is found to be 2.72 eV from the onset of its emission at 80 K. The tunable emission maximum of [Cu(dnbp)(DPEPhos)]BF4 in various hosts with different triplet energies is explained in terms of the multiple triplet energy levels of this complex in amorphous films. Using the high triplet energy charge transport material as a host and an exciton‐blocking layer (EBL), a [Cu(dnbp)(DPEPhos)]BF4 based organic light‐emitting diode (OLED) achieves a high external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 15.0%, which is comparable to values for similar devices based on Ir(ppy)3 and FIrpic. The photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL) performance of green emissive [Cu(μI)dppb]2 (dppb = 1,2‐bis[diphenylphosphino]benzene) in organic semiconductor films confirmed its 3CT state with a zero‐zero energy of 2.76 eV as the predominant population excited state.  相似文献

Highly efficient and stable blue phosphorescent organic light‐emitting diodes are achieved by employing a step‐wise graded doping of platinum(II) 9‐(pyridin‐2‐yl)‐2‐(9‐(pyridin‐2‐yl)‐9H‐carbazol‐2‐yloxy)‐9H‐carbazole (PtNON) in a device setting. A device employing PtNON demonstrates a high peak external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 17.4% with an estimated LT70 lifetime of over 1330 h at a brightness of 1000 cd m?2. PtNON is then investigated as a “triplet sensitizer” in an alternating donor–acceptor doped emissive layer to further improve the device emission color purity by carefully managing an efficient Förster resonant energy transfer from PtNON to 2,5,8,11‐tetra‐tert‐butylperylene as a selected acceptor material. Thus, such OLED devices demonstrate an EQE of 16.9% with color coordinates of (0.16, 0.25) and an estimated luminance (LT70) lifetime of 628 h at a high brightness of 1000 cd m?2.  相似文献

Luminous efficacy (LE), which is given by the ratio of luminous flux to power, is commonly used to measure the power consumption of a light source. Unfortunately, the LE of white organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) still lags behind those of inorganic LED for practically used (>100 lm W?1). In this paper, an ultraefficient white OLED is discussed based on a newly designed thermally activated delayed fluorescent exciplex host. The resulting white OLED delivers an unusually high forward‐viewing LE of 105.0 lm W?1 and external quantum efficiency (EQE) ηext of ≈30% (without using any optical out‐coupling techniques). As far as it is known, specifically, these efficiencies are the highest values among the published white OLEDs to date. Two‐color warm white emission is realized with Commission International de I'Eclairage coordinates of (0.40, 0.48) at a brightness of 1000 cd m?2. Furthermore, the well‐matched energy alignment endows the device with an extremely low turn‐on voltage (≈2.5 V). Such high efficiencies and excellent device performance should benefit from the advantages of exciplex material solely used as the host. Therefore, this study anticipates that the findings have great potential to boost the LE of OLEDs, and more importantly, fulfill the power efficacy requirement for lighting applications.  相似文献

New single‐polymer electroluminescent systems containing two individual emission species—polyfluorenes as a blue host and 2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole derivative units as an orange dopant on the main chain—have been designed and synthesized by Wang and co‐workers on p. 957. The resulting single polymers are found to have highly efficient white electroluminescence with simultaneous blue and orange emission from the corresponding emitting species. A single‐layer device has been fabricated that has performance characteristics roughly comparable to those of organic white‐light‐emitting diodes with multilayer device structures. New single‐polymer electroluminescent systems containing two individual emission species—polyfluorenes as a blue host and 2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole derivative units as an orange dopant on the main chain—have been designed and synthesized. The resulting single polymers are found to have highly efficient white electroluminescence with simultaneous blue (λmax = 421 nm/445 nm) and orange emission (λmax = 564 nm) from the corresponding emitting species. The influence of the photoluminescence (PL) efficiencies of both the blue and orange species on the electroluminescence (EL) efficiencies of white polymer light‐emitting diodes (PLEDs) based on the single‐polymer systems has been investigated. The introduction of the highly efficient 4,7‐bis(4‐(N‐phenyl‐N‐(4‐methylphenyl)amino)phenyl)‐2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole unit to the main chain of polyfluorene provides significant improvement in EL efficiency. For a single‐layer device fabricated in air (indium tin oxide/poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(styrene sulfonic acid/polymer/Ca/Al), pure‐white electroluminescence with Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.35,0.32), maximum brightness of 12 300 cd m–2, luminance efficiency of 7.30 cd A–1, and power efficiency of 3.34 lm W–1 can be obtained. This device is approximately two times more efficient than that utilizing a single polyfluorene containing 1,8‐naphthalimide moieties, and shows remarkable improvement over the corresponding blend systems in terms of efficiency and color stability. Thermal treatment of the single‐layer device before cathode deposition leads to the further improvement of the device performance, with CIE coordinates of (0.35,0.34), turn‐on voltage of 3.5 V, luminance efficiency of 8.99 cd A–1, power efficiency of 5.75 lm W–1, external quantum efficiency of 3.8 %, and maximum brightness of 12 680 cd m–2. This performance is roughly comparable to that of white organic light‐emitting diodes (WOLEDs) with multilayer device structures and complicated fabrication processes.  相似文献

Organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) have great potential applications in display and solid‐state lighting. Stability, cost, and blue emission are key issues governing the future of OLEDs. The synthesis and photoelectronics of a series of three kinds of binaphthyl (BN) derivatives are reported. BN1–3 are “melting‐point‐less” and highly stable materials, forming very good, amorphous, glass‐like films. They decompose at temperatures as high as 485–545 °C. At a constant current density of 25 mA cm?2, an ITO/BN3/Al single‐layer device has a much‐longer lifetime (>80 h) than that of an ITO/NPB/Al single‐layer device (8 h). Also, the lifetime of a multilayer device based on BN1 is longer than a similar device based on NPB. BNs are efficient and versatile OLED materials: they can be used as a hole‐transport layer (HTL), a host, and a deep‐blue‐light‐emitting material. This versatility may cut the cost of large‐scale material manufacture. More importantly, the deep‐blue electroluminescence (emission peak at 444 nm with CIE coordinates (0.16, 0.11), 3.23 cd A?1 at 0.21 mA cm?2, and 25200 cd m?2 at 9 V) remains very stable at very high current densities up to 1000 mA cm?2.  相似文献

A series of dicarbazolyl derivatives bridged by various aromatic spacers and decorated with peripheral diarylamines were synthesized using Ullmann and Pd‐catalyzed C–N coupling procedures. These derivatives emit blue light in solution. In general, they possess high glass‐transition temperatures (Tg > 125 °C) which vary with the bridging segment and methyl substitution on the peripheral amine. Double‐layer organic light‐emitting devices were successfully fabricated using these molecules as hole‐transporting and emitting materials. Devices of the configuration ITO/HTL/TPBI/Mg:Ag (ITO: indium tin oxide; HTL: hole‐transporting layer; TPBI: 1,3,5‐tris(N‐phenylbenzimidazol‐2‐yl)benzene) display blue emission from the HTL layer. The EL spectra of these devices appear slightly distorted due to the exciplex formation at the interfaces. However, for the devices of the configuration ITO/HTL/Alq3/Mg:Ag (Alq3 = tris(8‐hydroxyquinoline)aluminum) a bright green light from the Alq3 layer was observed. This clearly demonstrates the facile hole‐transporting property of the materials described here.  相似文献

A study of an efficient blue light‐emitting diode based on a fluorescent aryl polyfluorene (aryl‐F8) homopolymer in an inverted device architecture is presented, with ZnO and MoO3 as electron‐ and hole‐injecting electrodes, respectively. Charge‐carrier balance and color purity in these structures are achieved by incorporating poly(9,9‐dioctylfluorene‐co‐N‐(4‐butylphenyl)‐diphenylamine (TFB) into aryl‐F8. TFB is known to be a hole‐transporting material but it is found to act as a hole trap on mixing with aryl‐F8. Luminance efficiency of ≈6 cd A?1 and external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 3.1% are obtained by adding a small amount (0.5% by weight) of TFB into aryl‐F8. Study of charge injection and transport in the single‐carrier devices shows that the addition of a small fraction of hole traps is necessary for charge‐carrier balance. Optical studies using UV–vis and fluorescence spectroscopic measurements, photoluminescence quantum yield, and fluorescence decay time measurements indicate that TFB does not affect the optical properties of the aryl‐F8, which is the emitting material in these devices. Luminance efficiency of up to ≈11 cd A?1 and EQE values of 5.7% are achieved in these structures with the aid of improved out‐coupling using index‐matched hemispheres.  相似文献

The exciplex forming co‐host with phosphorescent dopant system has potential to realize highly efficient phosphorescent organic light emitting didoes (PhOLEDs). However, the exciplex forming co‐host for blue phosphorescent OLEDs has been rarely introduced because of higher triplet level of the blue dopant than green and red dopants. In this work, a novel exciplex forming co‐host with high triplet energy level is developed by mixing a phosphine oxide based electron transporting material, PO‐T2T, and a hole transporting material, N,N′‐dicarbazolyl‐3,5‐benzene (mCP). Photo‐physical analysis shows that the exciplexes are formed efficiently in the host and the energy transfer from the exciplex to blue phosphorescent dopant (iridium(III)bis[(4,6‐difluorophenyl)‐pyridinato‐N,C2′]picolinate; FIrpic) is also efficient, enabling the triplet harvest without energy loss. As a result, an unprecedented high performance blue PhOLED with the exciplex forming co‐host is demonstrated, showing a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 30.3%, a maximum power efficiency of 66 lm W?1, and low driving voltage of 2.75 at 100 cd m?2, 3.29 V at 1000 cd m?2, and 4.65 V at 10 000 cd m?2, respectively. The importance of the exciton confinement in the exciplex forming co‐host is further investigated which is directly related to the performance of PhOLEDs.  相似文献

Materials commonly used in the carrier transport layers of organic light‐emitting diodes, where transport occurs through the bulk, are in general very different from materials used in organic field‐effect transistors, where transport takes place in a very thin accumulation channel. In this paper, the use of a high‐performance electron‐conducting field‐effect transistor material, diperfluorohexyl‐substituted quaterthiophene (DFH‐4T), as the electron‐transporting material in an organic light‐emitting diode structure is investigated. The organic light‐emitting diode has an electron accumulation layer in DFH‐4T at the organic hetero‐interface with the host of the light‐emitting layer, tris(8‐hydroxyquinoline) aluminum (Alq3). This electron accumulation layer is used to transport electrons and inject them into the active emissive host‐guest layer. By optimizing the growth conditions of DFH‐4T for electron transport at the organic hetero‐interface, high electron current densities of 750 A cm?2 are achieved in this innovative light‐emitting structure.  相似文献

Exciplex emission is a special form of luminescence from excited state complex formed between two contacting materials at interface in organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs). While considerable works has been focused on the role of exciplex states in interfacial light emitting processes, the understanding for the fundamental forming criteria of exciplex states is limited. In this work, six pairs of exciplex-forming organic materials were examined using photoemission spectroscopies. Interestingly, all the studied pairs show special charge transfer with N-type material donates a considerable amount of electron to the contacting P-type material, leading to energy levels bending and depletion of mobile majority carriers on the two sides of the junction, i.e. Pδ?–Nδ+. The close relation between the depletion organic HJs and the exciplex emission is discussed.  相似文献

Simultaneously integrating efficient optical gain and high charge carrier mobility in organic semiconductors for multifunctional optoelectronic applications is challenging. Here, a new thiophene/phenylene derivative, 5,5′‐bis(2,2‐diphenylvinyl)‐bithiophene (BDPV2T), containing an appropriate butterfly molecular configuration in a π‐conjugated structure, is designed to achieve both solid‐state emission and charge transport properties. The prepared BDPV2T crystals exhibit excellent light‐emitting characteristics with a photoluminescence quantum yield of 30%, low light‐amplification threshold of 8 kW cm?2, high optical net gain up to 70 cm?1, and high charge carrier mobility up to 1 cm2 V?1 s?1 in their J‐aggregate single crystals. These BDPV2T single crystal characteristics ensure their application potential for photodetectors, field‐effect transistors, and light‐emitting transistors. High optoelectronic performances are achieved with photoresponsivity of 2.0 × 103 A W?1 and light on/off ratio of 5.4 × 105 in photodetectors, and efficient ambipolar charge transport (µh: 0.14 cm2 V?1 s?1, µe: 0.02 cm2 V?1 s?1) and electroluminescence characteristics in light‐emitting transistors. The remarkably integrated optoelectronic properties of BDPV2T suggest it is a promising candidate for organic multifunctional and electrically pumped laser applications.  相似文献

This study reveals the mechanism of the dual‐emission properties for asymmetrical diphenylsulfone and diphenylketone derivatives. A series of asymmetrical diphenylketone and diphenylsulfone derivatives with dual‐emission properties are designed and synthesized. By single crystal structure analyses, various photophysical studies, and 2D 1H–1H NOSEY NMR studies, the lower energy emission bands in the dual‐emission spectra are successfully assigned to hydrogen‐bonding‐assisted intermolecular charge transfer emission. The emission properties of these compounds can easily be tuned in both solid state and solution state by destroying or strengthening the intermolecular hydrogen bonding. In addition, thermally activated delayed fluorescence characteristics for the intermolecular charge transfer emissions are also observed. The control of the intermolecular and intramolecular charge transfers serves as the basis for the generation of the white‐light emission. For compound CPzPO, nearly pure white‐light emission with CIE coordinates of (0.31, 0.32) is easily achieved by precipitation from dichloromethane and hexane mixed solvent system. These results clearly give an insight into the dual‐emission properties and provide a rational strategy for the design and synthesis of single‐component white‐light‐emitting materials and mechanoresponsive light‐emitting materials.  相似文献

An approach to produce organic light‐emitting transistors (OLETs) containing a laterally arranged heterojunction structure, which minimizes exciton quenching at the metal electrodes, is described. This device configuration provides an organic light‐emitting diode (OLED) structure where the anode (source) electrode, hole‐transport material (field‐effect material), light‐emitting material, and cathode (drain) electrode are laterally arranged, thus offering a chance to control the electroluminescent intensity by changing the gate bias. Pentacene and tris(8‐quinolinolato)aluminum (Alq3) are employed as the field‐effect and light‐emitting materials, respectively. The laterally arranged heterojunction structures are achieved by successively inclined deposition of the field‐effect and light‐emitting materials. After deposition of pentacene, a narrow gap of about 10–20 nm between the drain electrode and pentacene was obtained, thereby creating an opportunity to fabricate a laterally arranged heterojunction. In the OLETs, unsymmetrical source and drain electrodes, that is, Au and LiF/Al ones, are used to ensure efficient injection of holes and electrons. Visible‐light emission from OLETs is observed under ambient atmosphere. This result is ascribed to efficient carrier injection and transport, formation of a heterojunction, as well as good luminescence from the organic emissive layer. The device structure serves as an excellent model system for OLETs and demonstrates a general concept of adjusting the charge‐carrier injection and transport, as well as the electroluminescent properties, by forming laterally arranged heterojunctions.  相似文献

To develop high‐performance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) exciplex emitters, a novel strategy of introducing a single‐molecule TADF emitter as one of the constituting materials has been presented. Such a new type of exciplex TADF emitter will have two reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) routes on both the pristine TADF molecules and the exciplex emitters, benefiting the utilization of triplet excitons. Based on a newly designed and synthesized single‐molecule TADF emitter MAC, a highly efficient exciplex emitter MAC:PO‐T2T has been obtained. The device based on MAC:PO‐T2T with a weight ratio of 7:3 exhibits a low turn‐on voltage of 2.4 V, high maximum efficiency of 52.1 cd A?1 (current efficiency), 45.5 lm W?1 (power efficiency), and 17.8% (external quantum efficiency, EQE), as well as a high EQE of 12.3% at a luminance of 1000 cd m?2. The device shows the best performance among reported organic light‐emitting devices based on exciplex emitters. Such high‐efficiency and low‐efficiency roll‐off should be ascribed to the additional reverse intersystem crossing process on the MAC molecules, showing the advantages of the strategy described in this study.  相似文献

Significant effort has been made to develop novel material systems to improve the efficiency of near‐infrared organic light‐emitting diodes (NIR OLEDs). Of those, fluorescent chromophores are mostly studied because of their advantages in cost and tunability. However, it is still rare for fluorescent NIR emitters to present good color purities in the NIR range and to have high external quantum efficiency (EQE). Here, a wedge‐shaped D‐π‐A‐π‐D emitter APDC‐DTPA with thermally activated delayed fluorescence property and a small single‐triplet splitting (ΔEst) of 0.14 eV is presented. The non‐doped NIR device exhibits excellent performance with a maximum EQE of 2.19% and a peak wavelength of 777 nm. Remarkably, when 10 wt% of APDC‐DTPA is doped in 1,3,5‐tris(1‐phenyl‐1H‐benzimidazol‐2‐yl)benzene host, an extremely high EQE of 10.19% with an emission peak of 693 nm is achieved. All these values represent the best result for NIR OLEDs based on a pure organic fluorescent emitter with similar device structure and color gamut.  相似文献
