Analysis of tool temperature fluctuation in interrupted cutting 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A unidimensional model for temperature distribution in the tool during intermittent cutting is presented. The tool-chip interface heating is approximated by a periodic rectangular heat flux. The effects of cutting time ratio, frequency of temperature fluctuation and thermal diffusivity of the tool material on internal temperature distribution and on thermal stresses developed in the tool have been discussed. With increasing cutting frequency, the temperature gradient in the cutting zone increases, but with higher thermal diffusivity of the tool material, it diminishes. The paper presents the studies of mono- and multicomponent nitride vacuum and plasma coatings (Ti100 ? x Al x )N, etc. at interrupted cutting. The contact processes during milling and the effect of the coatings on cutting forces, coefficient of friction, tool surface tension, and tool vibration due to variable tangential forces are considered. The influence of the coatings on abrasive wear resistance and resistance to cracking at variable thermal power loading is proved. 相似文献

Convex and concave inclined surfaces are frequently encountered in the machining of components in industries such as aerospace, aircraft, automotive, biomedical, and precision machinery manufacturing and mold industries. Tool path styles, generated by different cutting strategies, result in various cutting forces and tool deflection values that might lead to poor surface integrities. In cost-effective manufacturing, it is helpful to make known their effects on machinability. Thus, the first aim of this study is to investigate optimum cutting parameter values in ball end milling of EN X40CrMoV5-1 tool steel with three coated cutters. The parameters taken into consideration are cutting speed, feed rate, step over, and tool path style. The second aim of the study is to determine the effects of tool path styles in ball end milling of inclined surfaces. As a result, the most effective parameter within the selected cutting parameters and cutting styles for both inclined surfaces and different coatings was step over. In terms of tool coatings, the most rapidly deteriorating coating was TiC coating for cutting forces in both inclined surfaces and for tool deflection in convex inclined surface. In addition, the response surface methodology is employed to predict surface roughness values, depending on the cutting forces obtained. The model generated gives highly accurate results. 相似文献

The optimisation problem of multifunctional cutting tools, including multistep and combination tools, has been investigated.
The tools' concepts for their physical understanding are discussed in order to provide the necessary background for the reader.
Since they are not available in the literature, the necessary mathematical models for the optimsation are analysed based on
constant tool speed (rpm), constant surface speed and variable speed or feed for each tool step and/or function. The integration
of the mathematical models in optimisation schemes results in an analytical design tool for modelling and simulation of the
advanced multifunctional tools in an early part processing stage that refines the process and tooling approaches while determining
the sensitivity of these tools to the performance and production cost of individual machines. The aforementioned problem has
been theoretically analysed here, while heuristic optimisation algorithms for determining the optimum cutting speed(s) and
feed(s) for the multifunctional tools are presented in Part II of this paper. Experimental results and analytical examples
which demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed approach utilising the described mathematical models are

An analytical method is presented which enables the crater and flank wear of tungsten carbide tools to be predicted for a wide variety of tool shapes and cutting conditions in practical turning operations based only on orthogonal cutting data from machining and two wear characteristic constants. A wear characteristic equation is first derived theoretically and verified experimentally. An energy method is developed to predict chip formation and cutting forces in turning with a single-point tool from the orthogonal cutting data. Using these predicted results, stress and temperature on the wear faces can be calculated. Computer simulation of the development of wear is then carried out by using the characteristic equation and the predicted stresses and temperatures upon the wear faces. The predicted wear progress and tool life are in good agreement with experimental results. 相似文献
