A multigeneration system based on solar thermal energy associated with hot and cold thermal storage is designed and analyzed energetically and exergetically. The system produces electricity, a heating effect, a cooling effect, hydrogen, and dry sawdust biomass as outputs by means of organic Rankine cycles, a heat pump, two absorption chillers, an electrolyser, and a belt dryer. The intermittent behavior of the renewable energy source is addressed through the incorporation of hot and cold thermal storage systems to operate an organic Rankine cycle and provide cooling at night. The performance assessment indicates that the overall (day and night) energy and exergy efficiencies are 20.7% and 13.7%, respectively. The majority of the total exergy destruction is attributable to the sawdust belt dryer, at about 64.0%. 相似文献

A techno-economic assessment is conducted for a multigeneration system comprised of two renewable energy subsystems—geothermal and solar—to supply electrical power, cooling, heating, hydrogen and hot water for buildings. The proposed system is evaluated in terms of energy and exergy efficiencies. The simulation results show that the electrolyzer produces 2.7 kg/h hydrogen. A parametric study is carried out to assess the effect of various parameters on the system energy and exergy efficiencies. The economic assessment, performed using the Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Energy Resources (HOMER) software, shows that the net present cost of the optimized electrical power system is $476,000 and the levelized cost of electricity is $0.089/kWh. 相似文献

A solar-wind hybrid trigeneration system is proposed and analyzed thermodynamically through energy and exergy approaches in this paper. Hydrogen, electricity and heat are the useful products generated by the hybrid system. The system consists of a solar heliostat field, a wind turbine and a thermochemical copper-chlorine (Cu-Cl) cycle for hydrogen production linked with a hydrogen compression system. A solar heliostat field is employed as a source of thermal energy while the wind turbine is used to generate electricity. Electric power harvested by the wind turbine is supplied to the electrolyzer and compressors and provides an additional excess of electricity. Hydrogen produced by the thermochemical copper-chlorine (Cu-Cl) cycle is compressed in a hydrogen compression system for storage purposes. Both Aspen Plus 9.0 and EES are employed as software tools for the system modeling and simulation. The system is designed to achieve high hydrogen production rate of 455.1 kg/h. The overall energy and exergy efficiencies of the hybrid system are 49% and 48.2%, respectively. Some additional results about the system performance are obtained, presented and discussed in the paper. 相似文献

In the present study, an innovative multigeneration plant for hydrogen and ammonia generation based on solar and biomass power sources is suggested. The proposed integrated system is designed with the integration of different subsystems that enable different useful products such as power and hydrogen to be obtained. Performance evaluation of designed plant is carried out using different techniques. The energetic and exergetic analyses are applied to investigate and model the integrated plant. The plant consists of the parabolic dish collector, biomass gasifier, PEM electrolyzer and hydrogen compressor unit, ammonia reactor and ammonia storage tank unit, Rankine cycle, ORC cycle, ejector cooling unit, dryer unit and hot water production unit. The biomass gasifier unit is operated to convert biomass to synthesis gaseous, and the concentrating solar power plant is utilized to harness the free solar power. In the proposed plant, the electricity is obtained by using the gas, Rankine and ORC turbines. Additionally, the plant generates compressed hydrogen, ammonia, cooling effect and hot water with a PEM electrolyzer and compressed plant, ammonia reactor, ejector process and clean-water heater, respectively. The plant total electrical energy output is calculated as 20,125 kW, while the plant energetic and exergetic effectiveness are 58.76% and 55.64%. Furthermore, the hydrogen and ammonia generation are found to be 0.0855 kg/s and 0.3336 kg/s. 相似文献

A new configuration of solar energy-driven integrated system for ammonia synthesis and power generation is proposed in this study. A detailed dynamic analysis is conducted on the designed system to investigate its performance under different radiation intensities. The solar heliostat field is integrated to generate steam that is provided to the steam Rankine cycle for power generation. The significant amount of power produced is fed to the PEM electrolyser for hydrogen production after covering the system requirements. A pressure swing adsorption system is integrated with the system that separates nitrogen from the air. The produced hydrogen and nitrogen are employed to the cascaded ammonia production system to establish increased fractional conversions. Numerous parametric studies are conducted to investigate the significant parameters namely; incoming beam irradiance, power production using steam Rankine cycle, hydrogen and ammonia production and power production using TEGs and ORC. The maximum hydrogen and ammonia production flowrates are revealed in June for 17th hour as 5.85 mol/s and 1.38 mol/s and the maximum energetic and exergetic efficiencies are depicted by the month of November as 25.4% and 28.6% respectively. Moreover, the key findings using the comprehensive dynamic analysis are presented and discussed. 相似文献

In this article, a thermodynamic investigation of solar power tower assisted multigeneration system with hydrogen production and liquefaction is presented for more environmentally-benign multigenerational outputs. The proposed multigeneration system is consisted of mainly eight sub-systems, such as a solar power tower, a high temperature solid oxide steam electrolyzer, a steam Rankine cycle with two turbines, a hydrogen generation and liquefaction cycle, a quadruple effect absorption cooling process, a drying process, a membrane distillation unit and a domestic hot water tank to supply hydrogen, electrical power, heating, cooling, dry products, fresh and hot water generation for a community. The energetic and exergetic efficiencies for the performance of the present multigeneration system are found as 65.17% and 62.35%, respectively. Also, numerous operating conditions and parameters of the systems and their effects on the respective energy and exergy efficiencies are investigated, evaluated and discussed in this study. A parametric study is carried out to analyze the impact of various system design indicators on the sub-systems, exergy destruction rates and exergetic efficiencies and COPs. In addition, the impacts of varying the ambient temperature and solar radiation intensity on the irreversibility and exergetic performance for the present multigeneration system and its components are investigated and evaluated comparatively. According to the modeling results, the solar irradiation intensity is found to be the most influential parameter among other conditions and factors on system performance. 相似文献

In this system, it is designed to perform heating, cooling, drying, hydrogen and power generation with a single energy input. The proposed study consists of seven sub-parts which are namely parabolic dish solar collector, Rankine cycle, organic Rankine cycle, PEM-electrolyzer, double effect absorption cooling, dryer and heat pump. The effects of varying reference temperature, solar irradiation, input and output pressure of high-pressure turbine and pinch point temperature heat recovery steam generator are investigated on the energetic and exergetic performance of integration system. Thermodynamic analysis result outputs show that the energy and exergy performance of overall study are computed as 48.19% and 43.57%, respectively. Moreover, the highest rate of irreversibility has the parabolic dish collector with 24,750 kW, while the lowest rate of irreversibility is calculated as 5745 kW in dryer. In addition, the main contribution of this study is that the solar-assisted multi-generation systems have good potential in terms of energy and exergy efficiency. 相似文献

A proposed hybrid solar hydrogen system with activated carbon storage for residential power generation is assessed using exergy analysis. Energy and exergy balances are applied to determine exergy flows and efficiencies for individual devices and the overall system. A ‘base case’ analysis considers the proposed system without modification, while a ‘modified case’ extends the base case by considering the possibility of multiple product outputs. It is determined that solar photovoltaic-based sub-systems have the lowest exergy efficiencies (14-18%) and offer the most potential for improvement. A comparison of these two scenarios shows that the additional outputs raise the exergy efficiency of the modified case (11%) relative to the base case (4.0%). An investigation of the energy and exergy efficiencies of separate devices illustrates how energy analyses can be misleading. The hybrid system is expected to have several environmental benefits, which may offset to some degree economic barriers to implementation. 相似文献

In this study, the detailed thermodynamic assessment of an integrated process based on heat pipe evacuated tube solar collectors for hydrogen production is provided for more efficiently process designs. An integrated process consists of the solar heat pipe collector, photovoltaic panels, PEM electrolyzer and Linde-Hampson hydrogen liquefaction process are considered and analyzed thermodynamically for hydrogen production and liquefaction aims. The energetic and exergetic efficiencies of this integrated process are calculated as 0.2297 and 0.1955, respectively. Based on the parametric study, the effectiveness of the solar energy based integrated process is also highly dependent on the solar flux and ambient conditions. 相似文献

In this study, we thermodynamically analyze and experimentally investigate a continuous type hybrid photoelectrochemical H2 generation reactor. This system enhances solar spectrum use by employing photocatalysis and PV/T. Additionally, by replacing electron donors with electrodes to drive the photocatalysis, the potential of pollutant emissions are minimized. In this study, the present reactor is tested under electrolysis operation during which the present reactor is investigated under three different inlet mass flow rates (0.25, 0.50, and 0.75 g/s) and four different operating temperatures (20, 40, 60, and 80 °C). Some parametric studies are run by varying the environmental temperature between 0 and 40 °C. In addition, the impact of coating the membrane electrode assembly of the reactor with Cu2O is investigated. The present results show that the highest energy and exergy efficiencies occur at the environmental temperature of 20 °C which is about 60% and 50%, respectively. The Cu2O coated membrane gives a lot higher current readings, meaning that the coating makes the membrane more conductive and increases H2 production by permitting ions at a higher rate. 相似文献

In the present study, a novel supercritical hydrogen liquefaction process based on helium cooled hydrogen liquefaction cycles to produce liquid hydrogen is thermodynamically analyzed and assessed. The exergy analysis approach is used to study the exergy destruction rates in each component and the process efficiency. The energy and exergy efficiencies of liquefaction process are found to be 70.12% and 57.13%, respectively. In addition, to investigate the process efficiency more comprehensively to see how it is affected by varying process parameters and operating conditions, some parametric studies are undertaken to examine the impacts of different design variables on the energy efficiency, exergy efficiency and exergy destruction rates of the hydrogen liquefaction process. The results show that the increases in the cycle pressure of hydrogen and helium result in increasing hydrogen liquefaction process exergy efficiency and providing a smaller pinch point temperature difference of catalyst beds related with the heat transfer surface area and more efficiently process. 相似文献

In this study, we investigate a solar-assisted biomass gasification system for hydrogen production and assess its performance thermodynamically using actual literature data. We also analyze the entire system both energetically and exergetically and evaluate its performance through both energy and exergy efficiencies. Three feedstocks, namely beech charcoal, sewage sludge and fluff, are considered as samples in the same reactor. While energy efficiencies vary from 14.14% to 27.29%, exergy efficiencies change from 10.43% to 23.92%. We use a sustainability index (SI), as a function of exergy efficiency, to calculate the impacts on sustainable development and environment. This index changes from 1.12 to 1.31 due to intensive utilization of solar energy. Also, environmental impact of these systems is evaluated through calculating the specific greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. They are determined to be 17.97, 17.51 and 26.74 g CO2/MJ H2 for beech charcoal, sewage sludge and fluff, respectively. 相似文献

The concept of probability density frequency, which is successfully used for analyses of wind speed and outdoor temperature distributions, is now modified and proposed for estimating solar radiation distributions for design and analysis of solar energy systems. In this study, global solar radiation distribution is comprehensively analyzed for photovoltaic (PV) panel and thermal collector systems. In this regard, a case study is conducted with actual global solar irradiation data of the last 15 years recorded by the Turkish State Meteorological Service. It is found that intensity of global solar irradiance greatly affects energy and exergy efficiencies and hence the performance of collectors. 相似文献

This paper deals with the experimental investigation of a magnesium chloride saturated solar pond and its performance evaluation through energy and exergy efficiencies. The solar pond system is filled with magnesium chloride containing water to form layers with varying densities. A solar pond generally consists of three zones, and the densities of these zones increase from the top convective zone to the bottom storage zone. The incoming solar radiation is absorbed by salty water (with magnesium chloride) which eventually increases the temperature of the storage zone. The high-temperature salty water at the bottom of the solar pond remains much denser than the salty water in the upper layers. Thus, the convective heat losses are prevented by gradient layers. The experimental temperature changes of the solar pond are measured by using thermocouples from August to November. The densities of the layers are also measured and analysed by taking samples from at the same point of the temperature sensors. The energy and exergy content distributions are determined for the heat storage zone and the non-convective zone. The maximum exergy destructions and losses appear to be 79.05 MJ for the heat storage zone and 175.01 MJ for the non-convective zone in August. The energy and exergy efficiencies of the solar pond are defined as a function of solar radiation and temperatures. As a result, the maximum energy and exergy efficiencies are found to be 27.41% and 26.04% for the heat storage zone, 19.71% and 17.45% for the non-convective zone in August, respectively. 相似文献

Increasing environmental concerns and decreasing fossil fuel sources compel engineers and scientists to find resilient, clean, and inexpensive alternative energy options Recently, the usage of renewable power resources has risen, while the efficiency improvement studies have continued. To improve the efficiency of the plants, it is of great significance to recover and use the waste heat to generate other useful products. In this paper, a novel integrated energy plant utilizing a geothermal resource to produce hydrogen, ammonia, power, fresh water, hot water, heated air for drying, heating, and cooling is designed. Hydrogen, as an energy carrier, has become an attractive choice for energy systems in recent years due to its features like high energy content, clean, bountiful supply, non-toxic and high efficiency. Furthermore in this study, hydrogen beside electricity is selected to produce and stored in a hydrogen storage tank, and some amount of hydrogen is mixed with nitrogen to compound ammonia. In order to determine the irreversibilities occurring within the system and plant performance, energy and exergy analyses are then performed accordingly. In the design of the plant, each sub-system is integrated in a sensible manner, and the streams connecting sub-systems are enumerated. Then thermodynamic balance equations, in terms of mass, energy, entropy and exergy, are introduced for each unit of the plant. Based on the system inputs and outputs, the energy and exergy efficiencies of the entire integrated plant is found to be 58.68% and 54.73% with the base parameters. The second part of the analysis contains some parametric studies to reveal how some system parameters, which are the reference temperature, geothermal resource temperature and mass flow rate, and separator inlet pressure in the geothermal cycle, affect both energy and exergy efficiencies and hence the useful outputs. 相似文献

CO2 based power and refrigeration cycles have been developed and analyzed in different existing studies. However, the development of a CO2 based comprehensive energy system and its performance analysis have not been considered. In this study, the integration of a CO2 based solar parabolic trough collector system, a supercritical CO2 power cycle, a transcritical CO2 power cycle, and a CO2 based cascade refrigeration system for hydrogen production and multigeneration purpose is analyzed thermodynamically. This study aims to analyze and compare the difference in the thermodynamic performance of comprehensive energy systems when CO2 is used as the working fluid in all the cycles with a system that uses other working fluids. Therefore, two comprehensive energy systems with the same number of subsystems are designed to justify the comparison. The second comprehensive energy system uses liquid potassium instead of CO2 as a working fluid in the solar parabolic trough collector and a steam cycle is used to replace the transcritical CO2 power cycle. Results of the energy and exergy performance analysis of two comprehensive energy systems showed that the two systems can be used for the multigeneration purpose. However, the use of a steam cycle and potassium-based solar parabolic trough collector increases the comprehensive energy systems’ overall energy and exergy efficiency by 41.9% and 26.7% respectively. Also, the use of liquid potassium as working fluid in the parabolic trough collectors increases the absorbed solar energy input by 419 kW and 2100 kW thereby resulting in a 23% and 90.7% increase in energetic and exergetic efficiency respectively. The carbon emission reduction potential of the two comprehensive energy systems modelled in this study is also analyzed. 相似文献

In the present work, an advanced hydrogen liquefaction system with catalyst infused heat exchangers is proposed, analyzed and assessed energetically and exergetically. The analysis starts with exergetic considerations on hydrogen liquefaction using different alternatives of pre-cooling including the conversion from normal to parahydrogen. It further explains the fundamentals of a proposed liquefaction process. The goal is then to assess the proposed system, make modifications and improve the system. The present system covers all of these portions of a hydrogen liquefaction system with an ultimate goal of achieving a sustainable and environmentally harmless system. The proposed hydrogen liquefaction system is simulated in the Aspen Plus and the performance of the system is measured through energy and exergy efficiencies. The resulting energy efficiency of the system is calculated to be 15.4%, and the exergy efficiency of the system is found to be 11.5%. 相似文献

In this paper, the thermodynamic study of a combined geothermal power-based hydrogen generation and liquefaction system is investigated for performance assessment. Because hydrogen is the energy of future, the purpose of this study is to produce hydrogen in a clear way. The results of study can be helpful for decision makers in terms of the integrated system efficiency. The presented integrated hydrogen production and liquefaction system consists of a combined geothermal power system, a PEM electrolyzer, and a hydrogen liquefaction and storage system. The exergy destruction rates, exergy destruction ratios and exergetic performance values of presented integrated system and its subsystems are determined by using the balance equations for mass, energy, entropy, energy and exergy and evaluated their performances by means of energetic and exergetic efficiencies. In this regard, the impact of some design parameters and operating conditions on the hydrogen production and liquefaction and its exergy destruction rates and exergetic performances are investigated parametrically. According to these parametric analysis results, the most influential parameter affecting system exergy efficiency is found to be geothermal source temperature in such a way that as geothermal fluid temperature increases from 130 °C to 200 °C which results in an increase of exergy efficiency from 38% to 64%. Results also show that, PEM electrolyzer temperature is more effective than reference temperature. As PEM electrolyzer temperature increases from 60 °C to 85 °C, the hydrogen production efficiency increases from nearly 39% to 44%. 相似文献

In this paper, we propose an integrated system aiming for hydrogen production with by-products using geothermal power as a renewable energy source. In analyzing the system, an extensive thermodynamic model of the proposed system is developed and presented accordingly. In addition, the energetic and exergetic efficiencies and exergy destruction rates for the whole system and its parts are defined. Due to the significance of some parameters, the impacts of varying working conditions are also investigated. The results of the energetic and exergetic analyses of the integrated system show that the energy and exergy efficiencies are 39.46% and 44.27%, respectively. Furthermore, the system performance increases with the increasing geothermal source temperature and reference temperature while it decreases with the increasing pinch point temperature and turbine inlet pressure. 相似文献
