BACKGROUND: It is a challenge for polymer processing to promote the formation of γ‐phase under atmospheric conditions in isotactic polypropylene (iPP) copolymer containing chain errors. Incorporation of an α‐nucleator in iPP copolymer seems reasonable since it can enhance non‐isothermal crystallization. Up to now, however, the issue regarding a β‐nucleated iPP copolymer still remains unclear, which is the subject of this study. RESULTS: The results indicate that the γ‐phase indeed occurs in a β‐nucleated random iPP copolymer with ethylene co‐unit (PPR) sample and becomes predominant at slow cooling rates (e.g. 1 °C min?1) where the formation of the β‐form is suppressed to a large extent. With detailed morphological observations the formation of γ‐phase in the β‐nucleated PPR sample at slow cooling rate is unambiguously attributed to the nucleating duality of the β‐nucleator towards α‐ and β‐polymorphs. The α‐crystals, induced by the β‐nucleator, serve as seeds for the predominant growth of the γ‐phase. Moreover, the presence of the β‐nucleator, acting as heterogeneous nuclei, promotes the formation of γ‐phase in the nucleated PPR sample, at least to some extent. CONCLUSION: The findings in this study extend our insights into the formation of γ‐phase in β‐nucleated iPP copolymer and, most importantly, provide an alternative route to obtain iPP rich in γ‐phase. Modification of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) with two nucleation agents, namely 1,3:24‐bis(3,4‐dimethylobenzylideno) sorbitol (DMDBS) (α‐nucleator) and N, N′‐dicyclohexylo‐2,6‐naphthaleno dicarboxy amide (NJ) (β‐nucleator), leads to significant changes of the structure, morphology and properties. Both nucleating agents cause an increase in the crystallization temperature. The efficiency determined in a self‐nucleation test is 73.4 % for DMDBS and 55.9 % for NJ. The modification with NJ induces the creation of the hexagonal β‐form of iPP. The addition of DMDBS lowers the haze of iPP while the presence of NJ increases the haze. Polypropylene/wood flour composites were prepared by melt compounding. To improve their mechanical performance, the matrix polypropylene was modified with a specific nucleation agent based on an amide of dicarboxylic acid, which promotes crystallization predominantly in the β‐phase. The resulting material was used as a matrix for composites containing 10%, 20%, and 30% of wood flour. Uniform dispersion of the filler and improved interfacial adhesion was ensured by compatibilization with a small amount of maleic anhydride‐grafted polypropylene. A beneficial effect of application of the nucleation agent together with a compatibilizer on the resulting mechanical behavior was shown. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new enantioselective α‐alkylation of α‐tert‐butoxycarbonyllactams for the construction of β‐quaternary chiral pyrrolidine and piperidine core systems is reported. α‐Alkylations of N‐methyl‐α‐tert‐butoxycarbonylbutyrolactam and N‐diphenylmethyl‐α‐tert‐butoxycarbonylvalerolactam under phase‐transfer catalytic conditions (solid potassium hydroxide, toluene, −40 °C) in the presence of (S,S)‐3,4,5‐trifluorophenyl‐3,3′,5,5′‐tetrahydro‐2,6‐bis(3,4,5‐trifluorophenyl)‐4,4′‐spirobi[4H‐dinaphth[2,1‐c:1′,2′‐e]azepinium] bromide [(S,S)‐NAS Br] (5 mol%) afforded the corresponding α‐alkyl‐α‐tert‐butoxycarbonyllactams in very high chemical (up to 99%) and optical yields (up to 98% ee). Our new catalytic systems provide attractive synthetic methods for pyrrolidine‐ and piperidine‐based alkaloids and chiral intermediates with β‐quaternary carbon centers.  相似文献

In the present study the derivatization of two water‐soluble synthetic polymers, α,β‐poly(N‐2‐hydroxyethyl)‐DL ‐aspartamide (PHEA) and α,β‐polyasparthylhydrazide (PAHy), with glycidyltrimethylammonium chloride (GTA) is described. This reaction permits the introduction of positive charges in the macromolecular chains of PHEA and PAHy in order to make easier the electrostatic interaction with DNA. Different parameters affect the reaction of derivatization, such as GTA concentration and reaction time. PHEA reacts partially and slowly with GTA; on the contrary the reaction of PAHy with GTA is more rapid and extensive. The derivatization of PHEA and PAHy with GTA is a convenient method to introduce positive groups in their chains and it permits the preparation of interpolyelectrolyte complexes with DNA. © 2000 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

An efficient and generally applicable protocol for decarboxylative coupling of α,α‐difluoroarylacetic acids with ethynylbenziodoxolone (EBX) reagents has been developed, affording α,α‐difluoromethylated alkynes bearing various functional groups in moderate to excellent yields. Remarkably, this potassium persulfate (K2S2O8)‐promoted reaction employs water as solvent under transition metal‐free conditions, thus providing a green synthetic approach to α,α‐difluoromethylated alkynes.

Efficient one‐step syntheses of α,β‐ and β,β‐dihaloenones were achieved by ruthenium(II)‐catalyzed reactions between cyclic or acyclic diazodicarbonyl compounds and oxalyl chloride or oxalyl bromide in moderate to good yields. This methodology offers several significant advantages, which include ease of handling, mild reaction conditions, one‐step reaction, and the use of an effective and non‐toxic catalyst. The synthesized compounds were further transformed into highly functionalized novel molecules bearing aromatic rings on the enone moiety using the Suzuki reaction.

A practical and novel process for the decarboxylative fluorination of β‐ketoacids in water in the presence of phase transfer catalyst has been developed, affording a series of α‐fluoroketones in good to excellent yields. Furthermore, a preliminary investigation for the catalytic asymmetric transformation was performed and a proposed mechanistic pathway for this catalytic process was proposed.

The first example of a highly enantioselective organocatalytic aziridination of α‐substituted α,β‐unsaturated aldehydes is presented. The reaction is catalyzed by simple chiral amines and gives access to highly functional terminal azirdines containing an α‐tertiary amine stereocenter in high yields and enantiomeric ratios (95.5:4.5–98:2).  相似文献

Poly‐α,β‐(3‐hydroxypropyl)‐DL ‐aspartamide (PHPA) was synthesized by the ring‐open reaction of polysuccinimide (PSI) and 3‐hydroxypropylamine. The polymer was characterized by 1H‐NMR, 13C‐NMR, FTIR, and GPC. Mark–Houwink coefficients were obtained from viscometry and GPC measurements, K = 5.53 × 10−3 and α = 0.78 in water. The acute toxicity of PHPA was examined and it revealed no death in ICR mice up to the dose treated of 15.3 kg/kg, and hematological parameters showed no significant difference between treated and control animals. The potential use of PHPA as a drug carrier was also investigated. In a typical case, a contraceptive drug, norethindrone (NET), was bonded to PHPA, and the drug sustained released as long as 120 days an in vitro test. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Six samples of isotactic polypropylene were examined to study the influence of the thermal treatments and the molecular weights and their distribution on the β‐crystallization of the polymer. The highest amount of the β‐phase was obtained by isothermal crystallization and in correspondence of high average molecular weights and wide molecular weight distributions. Small‐angle X‐ray scattering pointed out that a partial β‐crystallization seems not to influence the lamellar morphology parameters. Differential scanning calorimetry measurements, at different heating rates, allowed us to confirm that the multiple melting endotherms behavior of the β‐phase is to be correlated to a melting–recrystallization–melting mechanism. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. It was shown that the catalytic hydrogenation of α‐iminophosphonates by molecular hydrogen can serve as a convenient method for the synthesis of racemic and optically active α‐aminophosphonates. Up to 94% ee was achieved in the rhodium‐catalyzed enantioselective hydrogenation using chiral ligand (R)‐BINAP.  相似文献

In order to increase the isotactic content of β‐nucleated polypropylene (β‐iPP) and decrease the cost of its production, the investigation and development of novel highly efficient β‐nucleators are important issues. Nano‐CaCO3 was used as a support to prepare a supported β‐nucleator, nano‐CaCO3‐supported calcium pimelate. Fourier transform infrared spectral analysis shows that an in situ chemical reaction takes place between nano‐CaCO3 and pimelic acid. Differential scanning calorimetry results indicate that the crystallization and melting temperatures of β‐phase in supported β‐nucleator‐nucleated iPP are higher than those of calcium pimelate‐nucleated iPP. The β‐nucleating ability of the supported β‐nucleator is little influenced by the cooling rate and crystallization temperature over a wide range. The decreased content of pimelic acid in the supported β‐nucleator slightly decreases the crystallization temperature of iPP but it has no influence on the content of β‐phase in nucleated iPP. A novel supported β‐nucleator has been successfully synthesized via pimelic acid supported on the surface of CaCO3. The crystallization temperature of iPP and melting temperature of β‐phase in iPP nucleated using the supported β‐nucleator are higher than those of iPP nucleated using calcium pimelate. The concept of a supported nucleator will provide a new way to increase the efficiency of polymer additives and to decrease the amounts of them that need to be used by using nanoparticles as supports. Under special crystallization conditions from the melt, both α‐ and β‐forms of isotactic polypropylene were produced simultaneously. The α‐ and β‐spherulites of polypropylene were differentiated under optical microscope, allowing the nanoindentation of individual spherulites of each crystallographic form. Elastic modulus and hardness of β‐spherulites were found to be 10 and 15% respectively lower than in α‐spherulites. The higher stiffness of α may be related to the particular interlocked structure with cross‐hatched lamellae, and to a lower molecular mobility in the crystallites. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A highly enantioselective Michael addition of cyclic 1,3‐dicarbonyl compounds to β,γ‐unsaturated α‐keto esters catalyzed by amino acid‐derived thiourea‐tertiary‐amine catalysts is presented. Using 5 mol% of a novel tyrosine‐derived thiourea catalyst, a series of chiral coumarin derivatives were obtained in excellent yields (up to 99%) and with up to 96% ee under very mild conditions within a short reaction time.  相似文献

Aliphatic [n]‐polyurethanes have recently been synthesized from ω‐isocyanato‐α‐alkanols or, more traditionally, by cationic ring‐opening polymerization of cyclourethanes or by the Bu2Sn(OMe)2‐promoted polycondensation of ω‐hydroxy‐α‐O‐phenylurethane alkanes. For the latter procedures, the conditions employed do not seem to be suitable for highly functionalized monomers. In contrast, the polymerization of ω‐amino‐α‐phenylcarbonate alkanes is expected to occur under milder conditions. ω‐Amino‐α‐phenylcarbonate alkanes have been synthesized from 6‐aminohexanol (1) and 3‐aminopropanol (6). The procedure involves the N‐Boc protection of the amino group, followed by activation of the alcohol. Removal of the N‐Boc affords the corresponding ω‐amino‐1‐O‐phenyloxycarbonyloxyalkane hydrochlorides. Other oligomeric comonomers between 1 and 6 have been prepared. The polymerization of these precursors takes place in the absence of metal catalysts to afford the corresponding linear and regioregular [n]‐polyurethanes. The procedure described is useful for the preparation of stable ω‐amino‐α‐phenylcarbonate alkane derivatives, which possess varied chain lengths between the terminal functions. These monomers yield [n]‐polyurethanes having various structures starting from just two aminoalkanols. The polyurethanes were obtained in high yields, with reasonable molecular weight and polydispersity values, and they were characterized spectroscopically and thermally. A new enantioselective synthetic method for the synthesis of α,α‐dialkylmalonates with a quaternary carbon center was developed via α‐alkylation of prochiral malonates by phase‐transfer catalysis (PTC). Asymmetric α‐alkylation of benzylideneamino tert‐butyl α‐methylmalonates under phase‐transfer catalytic conditions in the presence of (S,S)‐3,4,5‐trifluorophenyl‐NAS bromide afforded the corresponding α,α‐dialkylmalonates in high yields (up to 97%) with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 98% ee). The products were then selectively hydrolyzed to chiral malonic monoacids under basic, acidic, or catalytic hydrogenation conditions.
