The design, construction and performance of a modular, two pressure focal plane detector, 550 mm long, 1000 mm deep and with an active height of 60 mm are described. The detector has been operated with ions ranging from 50 MeV 1H to 200 MeV 36S. Typical results achieved are 0.5 mm and 0.3° for the spatial and angular resolutions, and 0.7% and 3% for the total energy and energy loss measurements. A height signal is also provided. 相似文献

We describe a silicon microstrip detector interleaved with segments of a beryllium oxide target which was used in the FOCUS photoproduction experiment at Fermilab. A compact twelve-channel photon-counting device based on existing Generation II imaging technology has been developed for use as the image-plane detector of the Dynamics Explorer Fabry-Perot interferometer. The device has an S-20 photocathode, three-microchannel plate electron multiplication stages, and an equal-area concentric-ring segmented anode whose geometry mimics that of the interference ring pattern produced by a plane etalon. The twelve channels sample equal and contiguous intervals in the spectrum. The purpose of the development has been to utilize the signal multiplex advantage of a multichannel detector in the measurement of Doppler shifts and line-broadening effects for naturally occurring atmospheric emission features of low intensity. The design, testing, calibration, and flight performance of the novel detector system are presented. In addition, measured emission line profiles at high resolution from the satellite instrument are presented to illustrate the operation of the device. 相似文献

The features of a newly developed portable beta telescope spectrometer are described. The detector probe uses three silicon detectors with the thickness: 50 μm/150 μm/7000 μm covered by a 2 μm thick titanium window. Rejection of photon contributions from mixed beta/photon exposures is achieved by coincidence requirements between the detector signals. The silicon detectors, together with cooling aggregate, bias supplies, preamplifiers and charge generation for calibration are contained in a handy detector probe. Through a 3- or 10-m cable the detector unit is connected to a compact, portable processing unit including a laptop computer executing control, monitor, histogram and display tasks. The use of digital signal processing at an early stage of the signal chain has facilitated the achievement of a compact, low-weight device. 256 channels are available for each of the three detectors. The LabVIEWTM software distributed by National Instruments was used for all program developments for the spectrometer, comprising also the capability of evaluating the absorbed dose rates from the measured beta spectra. The report describes the capability of the telescope spectrometer to measure beta and photon spectra as well as beta dose rates in mixed beta/photon radiation fields. Miniaturization is the main goal for system design in future cameras. This paper offers a novel method to scale down the optical system and to improve the image quality. As with the human retina, the detector array is spherically bent to fit the curved image surface; so the field curvature aberration is directly suppressed, leading to a better resolution and a simplified optical design. By thinning the substrate, the device is monolithically curved without modifying the fabrication process of the active pixels. Optical characterizations have been performed on planar and curved focal plane based cameras to illustrate the optical advantages of detector array curvature. 相似文献

The detection efficiency and response function of a Si(Li) detector element for the SIXA spectrometer have been determined in the 500 eV to 5 keV energy range using synchrotron radiation emitted at a bending magnet of the electron storage ring BESSY, which is a primary radiation standard. 针对红外焦平面探测器现有非均匀性校正算法在实际应用中存在的问题,结合实际系统的开发,提出了一种改进算法——一点加两点校正算法。先求两点校正算法的校正增益和校正偏置,再求一点校正算法的校正偏置,求取一点校正算法的偏置参数时的图像数据来自前面求得的两点校正之后的数据,即最后的校正结果是两点校正后的再校正。理论分析和应用表明该算法与目前流行的算法相比具有实时性好、误差小、处理效果好等特点。 相似文献

A novel microplasma molecular emission spectrometer based on an atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) is described and further used as a promising multichannel GC detector for halohydrocarbons. The plasma is generated in a DBD device consisting of an outer electrode (1.2 mm in diameter) and an inner electrode (1.7 mm in diameter) within a small quartz tube (3.0 mm i.d. × 5.0 mm o.d. × 50 mm), wherein analyte molecules are excited by the microplasma to generate molecular emission. Therefore, the analytes are selectively and simultaneously detected with a portable charge-coupled device (CCD) via multichannel detection of their specific emission lines. The performance of this method was evaluated by separation and detection of a model mixture of chlorinated hydrocarbons (CHCl(3) and CCl(4)), brominated hydrocarbons (CH(2)Br(2) and CH(2)BrCH(2)Br), and iodinated hydrocarbons (CH(3)I and (CH(3))(2)CHI) undergoing GC with the new detector. The completely resolved identification of the tested compounds was achieved by taking advantages of both chromatographic and spectral resolution. Under the optimized conditions with the CCD spectrometer set at 258, 292, and 342 nm channels for determination of chlorinated hydrocarbons, brominated hydrocarbons, and iodinated hydrocarbons, respectively, this detector with direct injection provided detection limits of 0.07, 0.06, 0.3, 0.04, 0.05, and 0.02 μg mL(-1) for CCl(4), CHCl(3), CH(2)Cl(2), CH(3)I, CH(3)CH(2)I, and (CH(3))(2)CHI, respectively. 相似文献

Up to now, all commercial matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometers still can not efficiently analyze very large biomolecules. In this work, we report the development of a novel MALDI ion trap mass spectrometer which can enrich biomolecular ions to enhance the detection sensitivity. A charge detector was installed to measure the large ions directly. With this design, we report the first measurement of IgM with the mass-to-charge ratio (m/z) at 980?000. In addition, quantitative measurements of the number of ions can be obtained. A step function frequency scan was first developed to get a clear signal in the m/z range from 200,000 to 1,000,000. 相似文献

During construction of a Shack-Hartmann wave-front sensor it is critical that the spacing between the lens array and the detector array be equal to the lens array focal length to obtain accurate and precise measurements of a wave front. This separation is often difficult to determine with large f/# lenses, because their focal spot diameter does not change substantially for small displacements on either side of the focal plane. We describe a method with an array of off-axis lens segments for determining the location of the focal plane. Because the lenses are off axis, changes in the distance from the optic to the detector array result in transverse focal spot position variations as a function of their separation from the lenses. By analyzing the focal spot pattern on a CCD, we achieved 12-mum rms error in the axial position measurement while moving a 4-mm-focal-length optic over 1 mm. 相似文献

The actual limit of helium leak detection is given by the highest sensitivity to helium of a mass spectrometer leak detector and can be considered to be 10−10 atm cc/sec. The output of such a leak detector is strongly influenced by the vacuum created at the height of the spectrometer tube. In this paper a method is proposed which permits the range of leak measurements to be extended by a factor of 10−5 over the actual limit of mass spectrometer leak measurements. The method is based on the accumulation of a leak, compared to the accumulation of a background over the same time. The rather complex manipulations are explained and justified so that the reader of the paper becomes familiar with this technique. 相似文献

Bonner sphere spectrometers (BSS) are being used widely in neutron spectrometry since 1960. The response to neutrons of these moderating detectors spans over a broad energy range. This work discusses the measurement of the sensitivity of an extended range BSS hosting a CR39 nuclear track detector coupled to a boron converter. Two kinds of boron converters were tested, the first made by natural boron and a second one enriched in (10)B. The BSS response functions were calculated with Monte Carlo simulation using the MCNPX 2.4.0. and the FLUKA codes. 相似文献
