基于130 nm CMOS工艺设计了一款特高频(UHF)频段的锁相环型小数分频频率综合器.电感电容式压控振荡器(LC VCO)片外调谐电感总值为2 nH时,其输出频率范围为1.06~1.24 GHz,调节调谐电感拓宽了频率输出范围,并利用开关电容阵列减小了压控振荡器的增益.使用电荷泵补偿电流优化了频率综合器的线性度与带内相位噪声.此外对电荷泵进行适当改进,确保了环路的稳定.测试结果表明,通过调节电荷泵补偿电流,频率综合器的带内相位噪声可优化3 dB以上,中心频率为1.12 GHz时,在1 kHz频偏处的带内相位噪声和1 MHz频偏处的带外相位噪声分别为-92.3和-120.9 dBc/Hz.最小频率分辨率为3 Hz,功耗为19.2 mW.  相似文献

实现了一种基于标准0.18µm CMOS工艺的应用于北斗导航射频接收机的1.2GHz频率综合器。在频率综合器中采用了一种基于分布式偏置技术实现的低噪声高线性LC压控振荡器和一种基于源极耦合逻辑的高速低开关噪声正交输出二分频器,集成了基于与非触发器结构的高速8/9双模预分频器、无死区效应的延迟可编程的鉴频鉴相器和电流可编程的电荷泵。该频率综合器的输出频率范围从1.05到1.30GHz。当输出频率为1.21GHz 时,在100-kHz和1-MHz的频偏处相位噪声分别为-98.53dBc/Hz和-121.92dBc/Hz。工作电压为1.8V时,不包括输出Buffer的核心电路功耗为9.8mW。北斗射频接收机整体芯片面积为2.41.6 mm2。  相似文献

A low voltage multiband all-pMOS VCO was fabricated in a 0.18-/spl mu/m CMOS process. By using a combination of inductor and capacitor switching, four band (2.4, 2.5, 4.7, and 5 GHz) operation was realized using a single VCO. The VCO with an 1-V power supply has phase noises at 1-MHz offset from a 4.7-GHz carrier of -126 dBc/Hz and -134 dBc/Hz from a 2.4-GHz carrier. The VCO consumes 4.6 mW at 2.4 and 2.5 GHz, and 6 mW at 4.7 and 5 GHz, respectively. At 4.7 GHz, the VCO also achieves -80 dBc/Hz phase noise at 10-kHz offset with 2 mW power consumption.  相似文献

A 1.2 GHz frequency synthesizer integrated in a RF receiver for Beidou navigation is implemented in standard 0.18μm CMOS technology.A distributed biased varactor LC voltage-controlled oscillator is employed to achieve low tuning sensitivity and optimized phase noise performance.A high-speed and low-switching-noise divider-by-2 circuit based on a source-coupled logic structure is adopted to generate a quadrature(I/Q) local oscillating signal.A high-speed 8/9 dual-modulus prescaler(DMP),a programmable-delay phase frequency detector without dead-zone problem,and a programmable-current charge pump are also integrated into the frequency synthesizer. The frequency synthesizer demonstrates an output frequency from 1.05 to 1.30 GHz,and the phase noise is-98.53 dBc/Hz at 100-kHz offset and -121.92 dBc/Hz at 1-MHz offset from the carrier frequency of 1.21 GHz. The power dissipation of the core circuits without the output buffer is 9.8 mW from a 1.8 V power supply.The total area of the receiver is 2.4×1.6 mm~2.  相似文献

基于TSMC 0.13μm CMOS工艺设计并实现了应用于IMT-Advanced和UWB系统的双频段宽带频率合成器中的电感电容压控振荡器(LC-VCO)。此压控振荡器的设计采用了开关电流源、开关交叉耦合对和噪声滤波等技术,以优化电路的相位噪声,功耗,振荡幅度,调谐范围等性能。为达到宽的调谐范围,核心电路采用了4比特可重构的开关电容调谐阵列。整个芯片包括焊盘面积为1.11′0.98 mm2。测试结果表明,在1.2V电源电压下,两个频段压控振荡器所消耗的电流分别为3mA和4.5mA,压控振荡器的调谐范围为3.86~5.28GHz和3.14~3.88GHz。在振荡频率3.5GHz和4.2GHz上,1MHz频偏处,压控振荡器的相位噪声分别为-123dBc/Hz与-119dBc/Hz。  相似文献

An integrated low-phase-noise voltage-controlled oscillator(VCO) has been designed and fabricated in SMIC 0.18μm RF CMOS technology.The circuit employs an optimally designed LC resonator and a differential cross-coupling amplifier acts as a negative resistor to compensate the energy loss of the resonator.To extend the frequency tuning range,a three-bit binary-weighted switched capacitor array is used in the circuit.The testing result indicates that the VCO achieves a tuning range of 60%from 1.92 to 3.35 GHz.The phase noise of the VCO is -117.8 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from the carrier frequency of 2.4 GHz.It draws 5.6 mA current from a 1.8 V supply.The VCO integrated circuit occupies a die area of 600×900μm~2.It can be used in the IEEE802.11 b based wireless local network receiver.  相似文献

The design of a 1.76-2.56 GHz CMOS voltage-controlled oscillator(VCO)with switched capacitor array and switched inductor array is presented.Fabricated in 0.18μm 1P6M CMOS technology,the VCO achieves a 37% frequency tuning range.The measured phase noise varies between-118.5 dBc/Hz and-122.8 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset across the tuning range.Power consumption is about 14.4 mW with a 1.8 V supply.Based on a reconfigurable LC tank with switched capacitor array and switched inductor array,the mnmg range is analyzed and derived in terms of design parameters,yielding useful equations to guide the circuit design.  相似文献

设计了一种宽带、低相位噪声差分LC压控振荡器(VCO)。所设计的电路采用开关电容阵列和开关电感,实现了多波段振荡输出。对负阻环节跨导进行了优化设计,将热噪声控制在最小范围内,同时采用高品质因数片上螺旋电感,以减小电路的噪声干扰。采用台积电(TSMC)0.35μmSiGe BiCMOS工艺制作了流片,并进行了仿真和硬件电路实验。实测结果表明,当调谐电压为0~3.3 V时,可设定VCO工作在6个波段(1.9~2.1 GHz,2.1~2.4 GHz,2.4~3.0 GHz,3.0~3.4 GHz,3.4~4.2 GHz,4.2~5.7 GHz),此6波段连续可调,构成了1.9~5.7 GHz宽带VCO;VCO的中心频率为2.4 GHz、偏离中心频率为1 MHz时实测相位噪声为-111.64 dBc/Hz;在3.3 V电源电压下实测核静态电流约为1.8 mA,从而验证了宽带、低噪声BiCMOS LC VCO设计方案之正确性。  相似文献

A quadrature balanced voltage controlled oscillator (B-VCO) with current source switching is proposed and analyzed. This letter shows analytically that the switching improves the phase noise. A switched transistor is also used as a coupling transistor to generate quadrature signals without degrading the phase noise. To investigate the effect of quadrature coupling on the phase noise, a single B-VCO and a quadrature B-VCO are implemented with identical components in an 0.18-/spl mu/m CMOS process. Both VCO cores draw about 8.8mA under a low bias voltage of 1.8V. The oscillation frequencies are 10.21GHz and 10.81GHz. The measured phase noises of the single at an offset frequency of 1MHz VCO is -114.83 dBc/Hz while that of the quadrature VCO is -116.67 dBc/Hz. The quadrature B-VCO is superior to the single B-VCO with respect to phase noise and oscillation frequency in the X-band.  相似文献

A 1-V CMOS frequency synthesizer is proposed for wireless local area network 802.11a transceivers using a novel transformer-feedback voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) for low voltage and a stacked frequency divider for low power. Implemented in a 0.18-mum CMOS process and operated at 1-V supply, the VCO measures a phase noise of -140.5 dBc at an offset of 20 MHz with a center frequency of 4.26 GHz and a power consumption of 5.17 mW. Its tuning range is as wide as 920 MHz (23%). By integrating the VCO into a frequency synthesizer, a phase noise of -140.1 dBc/Hz at an offset of 20 MHz is measured at a center frequency of 4.26 GHz. Its output frequency can be changed from 4.112 to 4.352 GHz by switching the 3-bit modulus of the programmable divider. The synthesizer consumes only 9.7 mW and occupies a chip area of 1.28 mm2.  相似文献

This letter proposes 5-GHz low power differential Armstrong voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) based on balanced topology. One designed VCO uses two single-ended Armstrong VCOs coupled to each other in parallel by balanced structure. The other current-reused VCO uses two single-ended Armstrong VCOs stacked in series. The former VCO oscillates from 4.96 to 5.34GHz and the power consumption is 3.9mW at 0.6-V supply voltage. The latter operates from 4.98 to 5.45GHz and dissipates 2.59mW at 1.8-V supply voltage. The measured phase noises are about -116.71dBc/Hz and -110.02dBc/Hz at 1-MHz offset frequency from 5.1-GHz band, respectively. The former and the latter VCO have an advantage of low power consumption and provide a good figure of merit of about -185dBc/Hz and -180dBc/Hz, respectively  相似文献

A systematic approach to the design of a reconfigurable LC-coupled voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) is proposed in this article. The focus is on the choice of the reactive elements of the resonance tank which are most suitable to switch to the desired oscillation frequencies. The optimum Q of the tank will be determined by the selected component. We report a 0.5-µm enhancement–depletion (ED) mode pHEMT (HEMT, high-electron mobility transistor) multiple-frequency VCO, and the generation of multiple frequencies are achieved using switched resonator topology. LC-tank circuit is built by square transformers. By careful selection of the reactive elements, evenly distributed results showed at each designed band. The multi-band ED-mode pHEMT VCO showed the output power of ?4.7?dBm for 2?GHz band, ?6.67?dBm for 3.86?GHz band and ?5.9?dBm for 4.5?GHz band, respectively. The phase noises at 1?MHz offset frequency from carrier were ?112.8?dBc/Hz for 2?GHz, ?105?dBc/Hz for 3.86?GHz and ?103.3?dBc/Hz for 4.5?GHz, respectively. This paper describes a low-noise, 900-MHz, voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) fabricated in a 0.6-μm CMOS technology. The VCO consists of four-stage fully differential delay cells performing full switching. It utilizes dual-delay path techniques to achieve high oscillation frequency and obtain a wide tuning range. The VCO operates at 750 MHz to 1.2 GHz, and the tuning range is as large as 50%. The measured results of the phase noise are -101 dBc/Hz at 100-kHz offset and -117 dBc/Hz at 600-kHz offset from the carrier frequency. This value is comparable to that of LC-based integrated oscillators. The oscillator consumes 10 mA from a 3.0-V power supply. A prototype frequency synthesizer with the VCO is also implemented in the same technology, and the measured phase noise of the synthesizer is -113 dSc/Hz at 100-kHz offset  相似文献

A 1.8 GHz fractional-N frequency synthesizer implemented in 0.6 /spl mu/m CMOS with an on-chip multiphase voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) exhibits no spurs resulting from phase interpolation. The proposed architecture randomly selects output phases of a multiphase VCO for fractional frequency division to eliminate spurious tones. Measured phase noise at 1.715 GHz is lower than -80 dBc/Hz within a 20 kHz loop bandwidth and -118 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset with no fractional spurs above -70 dBc/Hz. The synthesizer has a frequency resolution step smaller than 10 Hz. The chip consumes 52 mW at 3.3 V and occupies 3.7 mm/spl times/2.9 mm.  相似文献

This letter presents a fully integrated low-power low-voltage multiband switched-resonator differential cross-coupled voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) implemented in 0.18 SiGe-BiCMOS technology. The VCO operates with a supply voltage as low as 0.29 V, owing to the low knee-voltage provided by the technology, and consumes a total power of 580 muW. Utilizing a switched-resonator, the VCO covers a wide switched frequency range of 1.83-2.97 GHz and 4.36-6.17 GHz with measured phase noise of around 112.2 dBc/Hz with 0.29 V supply and 119.7 dBc/Hz with 1 V supply at 1 MHz offset. Since high-frequency bands experience higher phase noise than the low frequency bands, high- short microstrip line inductors have been used for the high-frequency bands. To the best of the authors' knowledge, the reported VCO achieves the widest switched frequency tuning range with lowest core supply voltage.  相似文献
