A one-port surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonators incorporating Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films has been investigated. SAW sensors are one potential applications of SAW devices. Most of the work reported on SAW sensor concerns delay lines. In this paper we characterize the mass loading effects of one-port resonators by depositing successive monolayers of LB films onto the surface. A 90 MHz SAW gas-phase sensor has been fabricated on an ST cut quartz substrate, and one-port resonator configurations have been used as the sensing element. Ultra thin monolayers of arachidic acid and arachidic acid ethyl ester have been deposited using the LB method. The resonant frequencies and the Q values have been measured as sensor response. Experimental results show that the Q values and the resonant frequencies of the one-port SAW resonator vary with film mass loading on the SAW device surface.  相似文献

A temperature sensor was demonstrated and fabricated by coating thermosensitive film around a fiber coupler. Based on the multicladding equivalent method, the coated fiber coupler was simplified to a conventional one. With the high thermo-optical coefficient of organic-inorganic solgel material, a good sensing result was achieved. The range of temperature measured is from -50 to 100 degrees C. The resonant wavelength has a shift of about 25 nm. A sensitivity of 0.17 nm/degrees C is achieved. With the advantages of having a simple structure and being unaffected by the instability of the light source, the proposed fiber coupler temperature sensor will find wide applications.  相似文献

The synthesis of a novel fluoroionophore, 5-p-[[4-(10',15',20'-triphenyl-5'-porphinato) phenyloxyl]-1-butyloxyl]phenyl-10,15,20-triphenylporphine (DTPP), and its application for preparation of a Hg(II)-sensitive optical fiber chemical sensor are described. The response of the sensor is based on the fluorescence quenching of DTPP by coordination with Hg(II). The porphyrin dimer-based sensor shows a linear response toward Hg(II) in the concentration range 5.2 x 10(-7)-3.1 x 10(-4) mol x L(-1), with a working pH range from 2.4 to 8.0. The sensor shows excellent selectivity for Hg(II) over transition metal cations including Cd(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II), Pb(II), Zn(II), and Fe(III). As a sensing agent, the porphyrin dimer shows obviously better fluorescence response characteristics toward Hg(II) compared to porphyrin monomer or metalloporphyrin. The effect of the composition of the sensor membrane was studied, and the experimental conditions were optimized. The sensor has been used for determination of Hg(II) in water samples.  相似文献

A lipid-protein monolayer for a biosensor was prepared utilizing a Langmuir- Blodgett technique. The enzyme glucose oxidase was used as the protein. Three types of lipid were chosen to change the surface charge of the polar group. The enzyme was immobilized on the lipid monolayer by adsorption from the subphase solution onto the lipid monolayer on the air/water interface. It was found that the lipid-enzyme interaction was dominated by electrostatic forces, and the characteristics of the film can be controlled by expansion and recompression of the adsorbed monolayer. Finally, a glucose sensor was fabricated by depositing the film onto a hydrogen peroxide electrode.  相似文献

Thermal equilibria between electron spin states of different multiplicities are studied in magnetic Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of amphiphilic FeII(phen)2 (NCS)2. Three aliphatic chains 18 carbon atoms long are grafted on the phenanthroline moiety and good LB films are obtained on CaF2 and quartz substrates.

A temperature-induced spin transition is observed between liquid nitrogen and room temperatures. This transition is characterized in the IR spectral absorption by a 40 cm-1 frequency up shift of the v doublet when changing from high spin to low spin ground state.

From these preliminary experiments it appears that the spin transition still takes place in a two-dimensional system as it does in the same non-amphilic complex in three-dimensional single crystal form, as described by König.  相似文献

The Langmuir-Blodgett film technique is currently being researched as a deposition process for many optical applications. The performance of these coatings is dependent on both the quality of deposition and the film structure. A structural investigation, using transmission electron diffraction and microscopy, on materials with potential for second harmonic generation and optical data storage is reported on this paper.

Transmission electron diffraction patterns are presented for an optically non- linear stilbene derivative. Results indicate that monolayer quality is good but for the formation of multilayers causes the film quality to deteriorate. The technique of alternating this material with tricosanoic acid has improved deposition, and electron microscopy has been used to indicate this. High quality transmission electron diffraction patterns of tricosanoic acid are interpreted in terms of a pseudo- hexagonal packing arrangement with a grain size of approximately 5 μm.

Organic dyes which absorb in the near-IR have also been studied. These have potential for use in ablative optical hole burning for optical data storage. Electron diffraction results are presented, showing good structure, with a grain size suitable for this application.  相似文献

A selective method for the determination of thorium (IV) using an optical sensor is described. The sensing membrane is prepared by immobilization of thorin–methyltrioctylammonium ion pair on triacetylcellulose polymer. The sensor produced a linear response for thorium (IV) concentration in the range of 6.46 × 10?6 to 9.91 × 10?5 mol L?1 with detection limit of 1.85 × 10?6 mol L?1. The regeneration of optode was accomplished completely at a short time (less than 20 s) with 0.1 mol L?1 of oxalate ion solution. The relative standard deviation for ten replicate measurements of 2.15 × 10?5 and 8.62 × 10?5 mol L?1 of thorium was 2.71 and 1.65%, respectively. The optode membrane exhibits good selectivity for thorium (IV) over several other ionic species and are comparable to those obtained in case of spectrophotometric determination of thorium using thorin in solution. A good agreement with the ICP-MS and spiked method was achieved when the proposed optode was applied to the determination of thorium (IV) in dust and water samples.  相似文献

This study demonstrates the possibility of a reversible naked-eye detection method for submicromolar levels of cadmium(II) using the Langmuir-Blodgett (L-B) technique. Molecular assemblies of 4-n-dodecyl-6-(2-thiazolylazo)resorcinol are transferred on precleaned microscopic glass slides, to act as a sensing probe. Isotherm (pi-A) measurements were performed to ensure the films' structural rigidity and homogeneity during sensor fabrication. The sensor surface morphology was characterized using atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The probe membrane exhibits visual color transition, forming a series of reddish-orange to pinkish-purple complexes with cadmium, over a wide concentration range (0.04-44.5 microM). Cadmium response kinetics and the changes in the sensors' intrinsic optical properties were monitored using absorption spectroscopy and further confirmed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. A hybrid L-B film composite of poly(vinyl stearate) and poly(vinyl-N-octadecylcarbamate) were investigated for enhancing sensor performance. The sensor was tested for its practical approach to prove its cadmium selectivity and sensitivity amid common matrix constituents using synthetic mixtures and real water samples. Using the sensor strips, the respective lower limits of cadmium detection and quantification are 0.039 and 0.050 microM, as estimated from a normalized linear calibration plot.  相似文献

An indigenous and simple electronic control system for Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) film deposition set-up has been developed. This set-up consists of a microstepping circuit to drive the stepper motors with precision and smooth motion, essential for controlled movement of the barriers and substrate in the LB set-up. Linear variable differential transformer (LVDT)-based displacement measuring device has been developed and used to measure the surface pressure of the monolayer material spread on the water surface. A control program is written which incorporates all operational modes required to drive the set-up and to acquire the datain situ using a set of user-friendly commands. This control set-up has been successfully used to plot the pressure-area isotherm of various amphiphilic compounds such as ferric stearate, zinc arachidate etc. and for deposition of ordered LB films of ferric stearate.  相似文献

Recently, oxide semiconductor material used as transducer has been the central topic of many studies for gas sensor. In this paper we investigated the characteristic of a thick film of tin dioxide (SnO2) film for chemical vapor sensor. It has been prepared by screen-printing technology and deposited on alumina substrate provided with two gold electrodes. The morphology, the molecular composition and the electrical properties of this material have been characterized respectively by Atomic Force Spectroscopy (AFM), Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Impedance Spectroscopy (IS). The electrical properties showed a resistive behaviour of this material less than 300 °C which is the operating temperature of the sensor. The developed sensor can identify the nature of the detected gas, oxidizing or reducing.  相似文献

A new type of chemical sensor based on light absorption is proposed. An array of zones alternatively containing the pH indicator thymolphthalein is formed in a gelatin film. By changing the sample solution from acidic to alkaline, a blue stripe appears in the gelatin film. This acts as a transmission grating and diffracts the introduced laser beam. Theory predicts that this method, which is based on light absorption/beam diffraction, is as sensitive as or more sensitive than fluorometry.  相似文献

We present a design improvement for a recently proposed type of Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor that uses a cylindrical (lenticular) lenslet array. The improved sensor design uses optical binning and requires significantly fewer detector pixels than the corresponding conventional or cylindrical Shack-Hartmann sensor, and so detector readout noise causes less signal degradation. Additionally, detector readout time is significantly reduced, which reduces the latency for closed loop systems and data processing requirements. We provide simple analytical noise considerations and Monte Carlo simulations, we show that the optically binned Shack-Hartmann sensor can offer better performance than the conventional counterpart in most practical situations, and our design is particularly suited for use with astronomical adaptive optics systems.  相似文献

Near infrared (NIR) photo-responsive polyaniline-based conducting thin films are developed for sensor application. Upon NIR illumination (2.43 W/cm2), the electrical conductance of the polyaniline thin films was enhanced 5.9% and the response time was 20 s. NIR sensing performance of polyaniline conducting polymer thin film is comparable with that of bolometric carbon nanotube (CNT) network devices with the merits of polymers over CNTs such as processability, productivity and economy.  相似文献

The recovery behaviour of optical hydrogen sensor using Pd film has been investigated. The change in reflectance with hydrogen desorption indicated distinctive characteristics with three-stage curve which depended on thickness of the Pd film. Moreover, the distinction became clearer with increasing number of absorption-desorption cycles. These behaviours were related to the change in pressure concentration isotherm.  相似文献

A new scheme of the Faraday effectcurrent sensor of a magnetic ring-core type is reported. With this scheme a uniaxial magnetic garnet film is obliquely inserted into a very narrow gap in the ring core and a probe light beam is passed through the garnet film in the transverse direction to the core. It is experimentally demonstrated that this current sensor shows good sensitivity as well as good isolation from surrounding currents, particularly because of the very narrow core gap allowed. This transverse scheme is much simpler and less expensive than the known longitudinal scheme and can offer a practical optical current sensor of a ring-core type.  相似文献

Near-infrared (NIR) absorption spectra of a cadmium arachidate Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) film were measured by surface plasmon resonance near-infrared spectroscopy (SPR-NIRS) based on the Kretschmann configuration with a 18.8-nm gold film. An NIR spectrum enhanced severalfold was obtained as a top ridge of the SPR-NIR spectra measured at different incident angles by using the principle of absorption-sensitive SPR. In order to determine the surface selection rule of SPR-NIRS, the enhanced NIR absorption spectrum of the LB film was compared to an unenhanced one without the gold film and to a normal incidence transmission spectrum. Moreover, a pair of out-of-plane (OP) and in-plane (IP) spectra were obtained by multiangle infrared spectroscopy analysis from a series of oblique incidence transmission measurements in the NIR region. It became obvious that the salient feature of the enhanced NIR absorption spectrum, i.e., the top ridge of the SPR-NIR spectra is almost equivalent to that of the OP spectrum. On the other hand, the unenhanced spectrum showed IP modes. These experimental results were well explained by calculation of the mean-square electric field based on the Fresnel formula.  相似文献

Mechanical behavior, such as tensile and fatigue strength, of the optical fiber sensor embedded within the composite laminate was investigated. Tensile and fatigue tests were performed to evaluate the static and fatigue characteristics of optical fibers embedded within three types of laminated composite specimens, [06/OF/06]T, [02/904/OF/904/02]T and [03/903/OF/903/03]T. The initiation of damage and fracture of the optical fiber were detected by observation of the intensity drop-off of laser signal transmitted through the optical fiber during test. Experimental results showed that the fatigue strength of optical fiber embedded within the cross-ply laminate is much lower than the fatigue strength of optical fiber within the unidirectional ply laminate. It was also found that the optical fiber embedded within unidirectional ply laminate fractured due to the fatigue damage accumulation of internal defects of optical fiber itself. However the optical fiber embedded within the cross-ply laminate fractured due to the growth of transverse matrix crack of host composite laminate.  相似文献
