The planar membrane reactor configuration was explored for partial oxidation of methane (POM) to syngas. A supported membrane composed of yttria‐stabilized zirconia and La0.8Sr0.2Cr0.5Fe0.5O3‐δ was sealed to a stainless holder, and a Ni/Al2O3 catalyst bed was placed under the membrane plane with a small slit between them. This reactor configuration would facilitate the POM reaction via oxidation‐reforming mechanism: the oxidation reaction occurring at the membrane surface and the reforming reaction taking place in the catalyst bed. At 800°C and a methane feed rate of 32 mL min?1, the reactor attained methane throughput conversion over 90%, CO and H2 selectivity both over 95%, and an equivalent oxygen permeation rate 1.4 mL cm?2 min?1. The membrane and catalyst remained intact after the POM testing. A porous‐dense dual‐layer composite membrane reactor was proposed. The dual‐layer composite membrane composed of dense 0.5 wt % Nb2O5‐doped SrCo0.8Fe0.2O3‐δ (SCFNb) layer and porous Ba0.3Sr0.7Fe0.9Mo0.1O3‐δ (BSFM) layer was prepared. The stability of SCFNb membrane reactor was improved significantly by the porous‐dense dual‐layer design philosophy. The porous BSFM surface‐coating layer can effectively reduce the corrosion of the reducing atmosphere to the membrane, whereas the dense SCFNb layer permeated oxygen effectively. Compared with single‐layer dense SCFNb membrane reactor, no degradation of performance was observed in the dual‐layer membrane reactor under partial oxidation of methane during continuously operating for 1500 h at 850°C. At 900°C, oxygen flux of 18.6 mL (STP: Standard Temperature and Pressure) cm?2 min?1, hydrogen production of 53.67 mL (STP) cm?2 min?1, CH4 conversion of 99.34% and CO selectivity of about 94% were achieved. © 2013 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 59: 4355–4363, 2013  相似文献

High‐temperature CO2 selective membranes offer potential for use to separate flue gas and produce a warm, pure CO2 stream as a chemical feedstock. The coupling of separation of CO2 by a ceramic–carbonate dual‐phase membrane with dry reforming of CH4 to produce syngas is reported. CO2 permeation and the dry reforming reaction performance of the membrane reactor were experimentally studied with a CO2–N2 mixture as the feed and CH4 as the sweep gas passing through either an empty permeation chamber or one that was packed with a solid catalyst. CO2 permeation flux through the membrane matches the rate of dry reforming of methane using a 10% Ni/γ‐alumina catalyst at temperatures above 750°C. At 850°C under the reaction conditions, the membrane reactor gives a CO2 permeation flux of 0.17 mL min?1 cm?2, hydrogen production rate of 0.3 mL min?1 cm?2 with a H2 to CO formation ratio of about 1, and conversion of CO2 and CH4, respectively, of 88.5 and 8.1%. © 2013 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 59: 2207–2218, 2013  相似文献

In this study, we propose using mixed ionic‐electronic conducting (MIEC) oxygen permeable membrane to separate hydrogen via the water splitting reaction. To do that, steam was fed to one side of the membrane (side I) and a low‐purity hydrogen was fed to the other side (side II). Oxygen from water splitting on side I permeates through the membrane driven by an oxygen chemical potential gradient across the membrane to react with the low‐purity hydrogen on side II. After condensation and drying, high‐purity hydrogen is acquired from side I. Thus, the hydrogen separation process is realized based on the fact that the low‐purity hydrogen is consumed and high‐purity hydrogen is acquired. We achieved a high hydrogen separation rate (13.5 mL cm?2 min?1) at 950°C in a reactor equipped with a 0.5‐mm‐thick Ba0.98Ce0.05Fe0.95O3‐δ membrane. The performance of mixed conducting ceramic membrane reactors for the partial oxidation of methane (POM) to syngas has been analyzed through a two‐dimensional mathematical model, in which the material balance, the heat balance and the momentum balance for both the shell and the tube phase are taken into account. The modeling results indicate that the membrane reactors have many advantages over the conventional fixed bed reactors such as the higher CO selectivity and yield, the lower heating point and the lower pressure drop as well. When the methane feed is converted completely into product in the membrane reactors, temperature flying can take place, which may be restrained by increasing the feed flow rate or by lowering the operation temperature. The reaction capacity of the membrane reactor is mainly determined by the oxygen permeation rate rather than by the POM reaction rate on the catalyst. In order to improve the membrane reactor performance, reduction of mass transfer resistance in the catalyst bed is necessary. Using the smaller membrane tubes is an effective way to achieve a higher reaction capacity, but the pressure drop is a severe problem to be faced. The methane feed velocity for the operation of mixed conducting membrane reactors should be carefully regulated so as to obtain the maximum syngas yield, which can be estimated from their oxygen permeability. In this study, La0.4Sr0.6CoO3‐δ (LSC) oxide was synthesized via an EDTA‐citrate complexing process and its application as a mixed‐conducting ceramic membrane for oxygen separation was systematically investigated. The phase structure of the powder and microstructure of the membrane were characterized by XRD and SEM, respectively. The optimum condition for membrane sintering was developed based on SEM and four‐probe DC electrical conductivity characterizations. The oxygen permeation fluxes at various temperatures and oxygen partial pressure gradients were measured by gas chromatography method. Fundamental equations of oxygen permeation and transport resistance through mixed conducting membrane were developed. The oxygen bulk diffusion coefficient (Dv) and surface exchange coefficient (Kex) for LSC membrane were derived by model regression. The importance of surface exchange kinetics at each side of the membrane on oxygen permeation flux under different oxygen partial pressure gradients and temperatures were quantitatively distinguished from the oxygen bulk diffusion. The maximum oxygen flux achieved based on 1.6‐mm‐thick La0.4Sr0.6CoO3‐δ membrane was ~4.0 × 10?7 mol cm?2 s?1at 950°C. However, calculation results show theoretical oxygen fluxes as high as 2.98 × 10?5 mol cm?2 s?1 through a 5‐μm‐thick LSC membrane with ideal surface modification when operating at 950°C for air separation. © 2009 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 2009  相似文献

For the first time the combination of a separation process with a plasma process was successfully tested. In this case, a mixed‐conducting perovskite membrane separates the oxygen. At 1 kW a permeation of 2.24 mL min?1cm?2 could be achieved. Corresponding perovskite membranes have been manufactured as hollow fibers with a very good CO2 stability. The hollow fibers showed a constant permeation over more than 200 h. Furthermore, a spinning process with a sulphur‐free polymer binder has been established.  相似文献

A new perovskite material, BaCe0.1Co0.4Fe0.5O3?δ used as dense oxygen permeable membrane for partial oxidation of methane (POM) reaction was investigated. In order to improve the synergetic effects between membrane and catalyst, LiLaNiO/γ-Al2O3 catalyst was directly packed onto the surface of the membrane to carry out POM. In BaCe0.1Co0.4Fe0.5O3?δ membrane reactor, high oxygen permeation flux, high CH4 conversion and CO selectivity were obtained. At 950 °C, oxygen flux of 9.5 ml cm?2 min?1, CH4 conversion of 99% and CO selectivity of 93% were achieved with a membrane thickness of 1.0 mm. There was an induction process at the initial stage of POM, which was related to the reduction of NiO to Ni0 in LiLaNiO/γ-Al2O3 catalyst. Experiments illustrated that higher reaction temperature would shorten the induction time. During continuously operating for 1000 h at 875 °C, no degradation of performance of the membrane reaction was observed. SEM characterization also demonstrated that the membrane disc maintained an integral structure without any cracks after long-term operation.  相似文献

The U‐shaped alkaline‐earth metal‐free CO2‐stable oxide hollow‐fiber membranes based on (Pr0.9La0.1)2(Ni0.74Cu0.21Ga0.05)O4+δ (PLNCG) are prepared by a phase‐inversion spinning process and applied successfully in the partial oxidation of methane (POM) to syngas. The effects of temperature, CH4 concentration and flow rate of the feed air on CH4 conversion, CO selectivity, H2/CO ratio, and oxygen permeation flux through the PLNCG hollow‐fiber membrane are investigated in detail. The oxygen permeation flux arrives at approximately 10.5 mL/min cm2 and the CO selectivity is higher than 99.5% with a CH4 conversion of 97.0% and a H2/CO ratio of 1.8 during 140 h steady operation. The spent hollow‐fiber membrane still maintains a dense microstructure and the Ruddlesden‐Popper K2NiF4‐type structure, which indicates that the U‐shaped alkaline‐earth metal‐free CO2‐tolerant PLNCG hollow‐fiber membrane reactor can be steadily operated for POM to syngas with good performance. © 2014 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 60: 3587–3595, 2014  相似文献

为开发稳定性和透氧量俱佳并适用于甲烷部分氧化反应(POM)的透氧膜材料,采用溶胶凝胶工艺合成了具有纯相钙钛矿结构的BaCe0.1Co0.4Fe0.5O3-δ混合导体陶瓷材料。POM操作结果表明:BaCe0.1Co0.4Fe0.5O3-δ膜反应器透氧量高于同类材料,875℃时透氧量达到了8.9 mL/(cm2.m in)。在1 000 h寿命实验中,膜反应器各项反应指标没有出现任何衰减,反应性能稳定,甲烷转化率和CO的选择性都在97%以上。SEM表征表明,反应后膜片表面微观结构的变化虽然不可避免,但是其仍然保持比较完整的结构。因此,该材料良好的透氧量和稳定性说明其具有较好的应用前景。  相似文献

Dense BaCo0.7Fe0.2Ta0.1O3?δ (BCFT) perovskite membranes were successfully synthesized by a simple solid state reaction. In situ high‐temperature X‐ray diffraction indicated the good structure stability and phase reversibility of BCFT at high temperatures. The thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) of BCFT was determined to amount 1.02 × 10?5 K?1, which is smaller than those of Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3?δ (BSCF) (1.15 × 10?5 K?1), SrCo0.8Fe0.2O3?δ (SCF) (1.79 × 10?5 K?1), and BaCo0.4Fe0.4Zr0.2O3?δ (BCFZ) (1.03 × 10?5 K?1). It can be seen that the introduction of Ta ions into the perovskite framework could effectively lower the TEC. Thickness dependence studies of oxygen permeation through the BCFT membrane indicated that the oxygen permeation process was controlled by bulk diffusion. A membrane reactor made from BCFT was successfully operated for the partial oxidation of methane to syngas at 900°C for 400 h without failure and with the relatively high, stable oxygen permeation flux of about 16.8 ml/min cm2. © 2009 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 2010  相似文献

Dense membrane with the composition of SrFe0.6Cu0.3Ti0.1O3-δ (SFCTO) was prepared by solid state reaction method. Oxygen permeation flux through this membrane was investigated at operating temperature ranging from 750℃ to 950℃ and different oxygen partial pressure. XRD measurements indicated that the compound was able to form single-phased perovskite structure in which part of Fe was replaced by Cu and Ti. The oxygen desorption and the reducibility of SFCTO powder were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis and temperature programmed reduction analysis, respectively. It was found that SFCTO had good structure stability under low oxygen pressure at high temperature. The addition of Ti increased the reduction temperature of Cu and Fe. Performance tests showed that the oxygen permeation flux through a 1.5 mm thick SFCTO membrane was 0.35-0.96 ml·min ^-1·cm^-2 under air/helium oxygen partial pressure gradient with activation energy of 53.2 kJ·mol^-1. The methane conversion of 85%, CO selectivity of 90% and comparatively higher oxygen permeation flux of 5 ml·min^-1·cm^- 2 were achieved at 850℃, when a SFCTO membrane reactor loaded with Ni-Ce/Al2O3 catalyst was applied for the partial oxidation of methane to syngas.  相似文献

A novel and ideal dense catalytic membrane reactor for the reaction of partial oxidation of methane to syngas (POM) was constructed from the stable mixed conducting perovskite material of BaCo0.4Fe0.4Zr0.2O3– and the catalyst of LiLaNiO/-Al2O3. The POM reaction was performed successfully. Not only was a short induction period of 2 h obtained, but also a high catalytic performance of 96–98% CH4 conversion, 98–99% CO selectivity and an oxygen permeation flux of 5.4–5.8 mlcm–2min–1 (1.9–2.0 molm–2S–1Pa–1) at 850°C were achieved. Moreover, the reaction has been steadily carried out for more than 2200 h, and no interaction between the membrane material and the catalyst took place.  相似文献

A novel K2NiF4‐type oxide based on (Pr0.9La0.1)2(Ni0.74Cu0.21Ga0.05)O4+δ (PLNCG) dense mixed conducting ceramic membrane was successfully prepared through a sol–gel route. The oxygen permeation flux through the membrane swept by pure CO2 was comparative to that swept by He. The oxygen permeation and the stability of PLNCG under pure CO2 were investigated in detail. A membrane with a thickness of 0.8 mm was steadily operated for 230 h with a constant oxygen permeation flux of 0.32 mL/(min cm2) at 975°C using pure CO2 as sweep gas. In this study, La0.6Sr0.4Co0.8Ga0.2O3‐δ (LSCG) hollow fiber membrane reactor was integrated with Ni/LaAlO3‐Al2O3 catalyst for the catalytic partial oxidation of methane (POM) reaction. The process was successfully carried out in the medium temperature range (600–800°C) for reaction of blank POM with bare membrane, catalytic POM reaction and swept with H2:CO gas mixture. For the catalytic POM reaction, enhancement in selectivity to H2 and CO is obtained between 650–750°C when O2:CH4 <1. High CH4 conversion of 97% is achieved at 750°C with corresponding H2 and CO selectivity of about 74 and 91%. The oxygen flux of the membranes also increased with the increase in oxygen partial pressure gradient across the membrane. The postreacted membranes were tested via XRD and FESEM‐EDX for their crystallinity and surface morphology. A cross-shaped pattern was formed on the surface of Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3 − δ oxygen permeation membrane by laser ablation. A membrane reactor made from this membrane was operated for partial oxidation of methane to syngas in the presence of Ni/ZrO2 catalyst. The CH4 conversion and CO selectivity of the membrane reactor were 98.8% and 91.5%, respectively, and the oxygen permeation flux through the membrane was 11.0 ml/cm2 min at 850 °C. The effects of space velocity (SV) on CH4 conversion and CO selectivity in such reactor were discussed. The mechanism of POM in such membrane reactor may follow the combustion and reforming mechanism.  相似文献

The oxygen transport membrane (OTM) has huge application prospects in gas separation and carbon neutralization based on oxygen enriched combustion. In this paper, the family 60 wt.%Ce0.9Pr0.1O2-δ-40 wt.%Pr0.6Sr0.4Fe1-xInxO3-δ (CPO-PSF1-xIxO, x = 0.01, 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1) cobalt-free dual-phase MIEC OTMs doped with indium have been successfully prepared by Pechini method. The phase structure, surface morphology, element distribution, oxygen permeability, and long-term operation stability of these OTMs are systematically explored. Among these OTMs, the champion oxygen permeable flux of CPO-PSF0.99I0.01O reaches 1.07 mL min?1·cm?2 and 0.80 mL min?1·cm?2 at 1000 °C under air/He gradient and air/CO2 gradient. Meanwhile, CPO-PSF0.99I0.01O maintains the value of 0.80 mL min?1·cm?2 steadily at 1000 °C for 100 h when pure CO2 as the sweep gas. The surface element distribution and phase structure of the OTMs after long-term oxygen permeability reaction are investigated by XRD, SEM combining with EDS, where the spent membranes retain the same structure and component as the fresh membranes, demonstrating that the In-doped OTMs have an excellent CO2 tolerance. Suitable indium substitution for iron of these OTMs not only improves the oxygen permeability, but also maintains the long-term reaction stability of the material.  相似文献

Perovskite-type oxygen-permeable membrane reactors of BaCo0.7Fe0.2Nb0.1O3−δ packed with Ni-based catalyst had high oxygen permeability and could be used for syngas production by partial oxidation of methane in coke oven gas (COG). The BCFNO membrane itself had a poor catalytic activity to partial oxidation of CH4 in COG. After the catalyst was packed on the membrane surface, 92% of methane conversion, 90% of H2 selectivity, 104% of CO selectivity and as high as 15 ml/cm2/min of oxygen permeation flux were obtained at 1148 K. During continuously operating for 550 h at 1148 K, no degradation of performance of the BCFNO membrane reactor was observed under the condition of hydrogen-rich COG. The possible reaction pathways were proposed to be an oxidation-reforming process. The oxidation of H2 in COG with the surface oxygen on the permeation side improves the oxygen flux through the membrane, and H2O reacts with CH4 by reforming reactions to form H2 and CO.  相似文献

Dense planar Ba0.15Ce0.85FeO3−δ (BCF1585) membrane reactors were investigated to produce syngas from methane. Firstly, the membrane itself catalytic activity to methane was investigated using a blank BCF1585 without any catalysts. Then a LiLaNi/γ-Al2O3 catalyst was packed on the BCF1585 membrane surface to test the synergetic effects of the membrane and catalyst. It was found that the membrane itself has a poor catalytic activity to methane. The main products are CO2 and C2, and methane conversion is low due to the low oxygen permeation flux. However, after the catalyst was packed on the membrane surface, both methane conversion and oxygen permeation flux were greatly improved by the synergetic effect between the membrane and catalyst. Carbon monoxide selectivity reached at 96% with methane conversion of up to 96%. The oxygen permeation flux reached at 3.0 mL/cm2 min at 850 °C for a 1.5 mm disk membrane and can effectively be increased by reducing the thickness of the membranes. After operation for 140 h at 850 °C, the used membrane was examined with SEM and EDXS. The results revealed that the decomposition of the membrane materials could not be avoided under such conditions. Oxygen partial pressure gradient across the membranes is suggested as a critical factor to accelerate the kinetic decomposition of the materials.  相似文献

The performance of Co doped YBa2Cu3O7−δ (YBCO) membrane reactor have been investigated in a process of the partial oxidation of methane (POM) to syngas. The results shows that doping YBCO membrane with a little Co can enhance its oxygen permeation flux and improve its stability in reducing atmosphere noticeably. At 900 °C, with feed flow at 50 ml/min, CH4 6.0 v%, SV = 12,000 h−1, and Ni/ZrO2 catalyst, CH4 conversion rate, CO selectivity, and oxygen permeation flux can reach to 98%, 92% and 1.41 ml min−1 cm−2 respectively.  相似文献
