Droplets containing ternary mixtures can spontaneously phase‐separate into high‐order structures upon a change in composition, which provides an alternative strategy to form multiphase droplets. However, existing strategies always involve nonaqueous solvents that limit the potential applications of the resulting multiple droplets, such as encapsulation of biomolecules. Here, a robust approach to achieve high‐order emulsion drops with an all‐aqueous nature from two aqueous phases by osmosis‐induced phase separation on a microfluidic platform is presented. This technique is enabled by the existence of an interface of the two aqueous phases and phase separation caused by an osmolality difference between the two phases. The complexity of emulsion drops induced by phase separation could be controlled by varying the initial concentration of solutes and is systematically illustrated in a state diagram. In particular, this technique is utilized to successfully achieve high‐order all‐aqueous droplets in a different aqueous two‐phase system. The proposed method is simple since it only requires two initial aqueous solutions for generating multilayered, organic‐solvent‐free all‐aqueous emulsion drops, and thus these multiphase emulsion drops can be further tailored to serve as highly biocompatible material templates.  相似文献

Graphene oxide (GO) holds high promise for diagnostic and therapeutic applications in nanomedicine but reportedly displays immunotoxicity, underlining the need for developing functionalized GO with improved biocompatibility. This study describes adverse effects of GO and amino‐functionalized GO (GONH2) during Caenorhabditis elegans development and ageing upon acute or chronic exposure. Chronic GO treatment throughout the C. elegans development causes decreased fecundity and a reduction of animal size, while acute treatment does not lead to any measurable physiological decline. However, RNA‐Sequencing data reveal that acute GO exposure induces innate immune gene expression. The p38 MAP kinase, PMK‐1, which is a well‐established master regulator of innate immunity, protects C. elegans from chronic GO toxicity, as pmk‐1 mutants show reduced tissue‐functionality and facultative vivipary. In a direct comparison, GONH2 exposure does not cause detrimental effects in the wild type or in pmk‐1 mutants, and the innate immune response is considerably less pronounced. This work establishes enhanced biocompatibility of amino‐functionalized GO in a whole‐organism, emphasizing its potential as a biomedical nanomaterial.  相似文献

Nanostructured carbon aerogels with outstanding physicochemical properties have exhibited great application potentials in widespread fields and therefore attracted extensive attentions recently. It is still a challenge so far to develop flexible and economical routes to fabricate high‐performance nanocarbon aerogels, preferably based on renewable resources. Here, ultralight and multifunctional reduced graphene oxide/carbon nanofiber (RGO/CNF) aerogels are fabricated from graphene oxide and low‐cost, industrially produced bacterial cellulose by a three‐step process of freeze‐casting, freeze‐drying, and pyrolysis. The prepared RGO/CNF aerogel possesses a very low apparent density in the range of 0.7–10.2 mg cm?3 and a high porosity up to 99%, as well as a mechanically robust and electrically conductive 3D network structure, which makes it to be an excellent candidate as absorber for oil clean‐up and an ideal platform for constructing flexible and stretchable conductors.  相似文献

We present a straightforward method for simultaneously enhancing the electrical conductivity, environmental stability, and photocatalytic properties of graphene films through one‐step transfer of CVD graphene and integration by introducing TiO2/graphene oxide layer. A highly durable and flexible TiO2 layer is successfully used as a supporting layer for graphene transfer instead of the commonly used PMMA. Transferred graphene/TiO2 film is directly used for measuring the carrier transport and optoelectronic properties without an extra TiO2 removal and following deposition steps for multifunctional integration into devices because the thin TiO2 layer is optically transparent and electrically semiconducting. Moreover, the TiO2 layer induces charge screening by electrostatically interacting with the residual oxygen moieties on graphene, which are charge scattering centers, resulting in a reduced current hysteresis. Adsorption of water and other chemical molecules onto the graphene surface is also prevented by the passivating TiO2 layer, resulting in the long term environmental stability of the graphene under high temperature and humidity. In addition, the graphene/TiO2 film shows effectively enhanced photocatalytic properties because of the increase in the transport efficiency of the photogenerated electrons due to the decrease in the injection barrier formed at the interface between the F‐doped tin oxide and TiO2 layers.  相似文献

Conjugated‐polyelectrolyte (CPE)‐functionalized reduced graphene oxide (rGO) sheets are synthesized for the first time by taking advantage of a specially designed CPE, PFVSO3, with a planar backbone and charged sulfonate and oligo(ethylene glycol) side chains to assist the hydrazine‐mediated reduction of graphene oxide (GO) in aqueous solution. The resulting CPE‐functionalized rGO (PFVSO3‐rGO) shows excellent solubility and stability in a variety of polar solvents, including water, ethanol, methanol, dimethyl sulfoxide, and dimethyl formamide. The morphology of PFVSO3‐rGO is studied by atomic force microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy, which reveal a sandwich‐like nanostructure. Within this nanostructure, the backbones of PFVSO3 stack onto the basal plane of rGO sheets via strong π–π interactions, while the charged hydrophilic side chains of PFVSO3 prevent the rGO sheets from aggregating via electrostatic and steric repulsions, thus leading to the solubility and stability of PFVSO3‐rGO in polar solvents. Optoelectronic studies show that the presence of PFVSO3 within rGO induces photoinduced charge transfer and p‐doping of rGO. As a result, the electrical conductivity of PFVSO3‐rGO is not only much better than that of GO, but also than that of the unmodified rGO.  相似文献

A nanostructured carbon with high specific surface area (SSA), tunable pore structure, superior electrical conductivity, mechanically robust framework, and high chemical stability is an important requirement for electrochemical energy storage. Porous graphene fabricated by chemical activation and liquid etching has a high surface area but very limited volume of electrochemically accessible mesopores. Herein, an effective strategy of in situ formation of hierarchically mesoporous oxide templates with small pores induced by Kirkendall diffusion and large pores attributed to evaporation of deliberately introduced volatile metal is proposed for chemical vapor deposition assembly of porous graphene frameworks (PGFs). The PGFs inherit the hierarchical mesoporous structure of the templates. A high SSA of 1448 m2 g−1, 91.6% of which is contributed by mesopores, and a mesopore volume of 2.40 cm3 g−1 are attained for PGFs serving as reservoirs of ions or active materials in electrochemical energy storage applications. When the PGFs are applied in lithium‐sulfur batteries, a very high sulfur utilization of 71% and a very low fading rate of ≈0.04% per cycle after the second cycle are achieved at a current rate of 1.0 C. This work provides a general strategy for the rational construction of mesoporous structures induced by a volatile metal, with a view toward the design of hierarchical nanomaterials for advanced energy storage.  相似文献
