分析了涨圈高速旋转密封的主要失效形式及影响因素,在标准实验机和发动机模拟实验台架上对涨圈表面刷镀锢铟铜合金和热喷涂PTFE的减摩耐磨性能同磷化处理进行了比较.结果表明刷镀铟铜合金能够改善涨圈摩擦副的摩擦状态而热喷涂PTFE使摩擦状态恶化. 相似文献

This research presents an advanced squeeze film damper model that integrates piston ring seal geometry, fluid inertia, and film cavitation to study their combined features. The configuration of the piston ring seal is inspected, and different sealing scenarios are discussed. The flow rate in the seal arrangement is determined on the basis of the pressure gradient according to thin film theory. Moreover, the governing equation for the flow in the film land that considers fluid inertia is solved using the linear complementarity problem method to address the cavitation phenomenon. Validation is performed by comparing the model prediction with long bearing and short bearing models under different seal dimensions. Results show that an oversized gap in the seal grooves and a large frictional coefficient may lock the piston ring seal in the seal groove and thus reduce seal efficiency. 相似文献

The scuffing failure phenomenon of piston ring–cylinder liner is studied theoretically and experimentally. The load and bulk
temperature when scuffing failure occurs are measured under different engine speed, lubricant, and environmental temperature
in a bench test. Based on the experimental results, the asperity capacity when scuffing occurs is evaluated. Surface contact
temperature is determined with the measured bulk temperature and the surface flash temperature calculated by Blok theory.
The scuffing failure threshold of piston ring–cylinder liner is established by using specific oil film thickness.

This paper describes a numerical method that can be used to model the lubrication of piston rings. Classical lubrication theory is based on the Reynolds equation which is applicable to confined geometries and open geometries where the flooding conditions are known. Lubrication of piston rings, however, fall outside this category of problems since the piston rings might suffer from starved running conditions. This means that the computational domain where the Reynolds equation is applicable (including a cavitation criteria) is unknown. In order to overcome this problem the computational domain is extended to include also the oil film outside the piston rings.The numerical model consists of a 2D free surface code that solves the time dependent compressible Navier–Stokes equations. The equations are cast in Lagrangian form and discretized by a meshfree moving least squares method using the primitive variables u, v, ρ for the velocity components and density, respectively. Time integration is performed by a third order Runge–Kutta method. The set of equations is closed by the Dowson–Higginson equation for the relation between density and pressure. Boundary conditions are the non-slip condition on solids and the equilibrium of stresses on the free surface. It is assumed that the surrounding gas phase has zero viscosity. Surface tension can be included in the model if necessary. The contact point where the three phases solid, liquid, and gas intersect is updated based on the velocity of the solid and the angle between the normals of the solid and the free surface.The numerical model is compared with the results from an analytical solution of the Reynolds equation for a fixed incline slider bearing. Then results from a more complicated simulation of piston ring lubrication are given and discussed. 相似文献

The bent-axis type of piston pump driven by the piston rod works by the piston rod driving the cylinder block; because of
this the taper angle of the piston rod and the swivel angle between the cylinder block and the shaft are important design
factors. If these factors cannot satisfy the conditions for optimum design, the friction loss between the cylinder bore and
the piston increases, and the pump can fail to work under conditions of severe friction and wear. Since the piston reciprocates
in the cylinder bore with high velocity, at the same time rotating on its own axis and revolving on the center of the cylinder
block, a decrease of the volume efficiency is generated because of the leakage between the cylinder bore and the piston. Therefore,
to prevent this, the piston ring is designed to be at the end of the piston, and the friction characteristics between the
piston ring and the cylinder bore require further research due to their great influence on the performance of the piston pump.
Thus, in this paper, the elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) analysis of the film thickness, the pressure distribution, and
the friction force, have been studied between the piston ring and the cylinder bore in the bent-axis type of piston pump.
The analyzed results show that the friction force is influenced by the rotating speed and the discharge pressure. 相似文献

The effect of a non-Newtonian oil (shear thinning) on the lubrication of a piston ring is theoretically investigated. A variation of shear strain rate with shear stress that is cubic in form is used to obtain a modified form of the Reynolds equation (dynamic) applicable to a run-in ring profile which is considered to be a double parabola with a central straight portion. Numerical solutions are obtained for the film thickness, pressure and frictional force over a complete stroke for the case of a constant load. Results presented in non-dimensional form show that the effect of pseudo plasticity is to reduce slightly the minimum film thickness, peak pressure ratio and friction coefficient. 相似文献

Exfoliated graphite rings are now the most common form of die-formed seal for valve stems, and other stuffing box applications. However, there is very little fundamental knowledge of what determines their friction and wear. In earlier papers, it was shown that the mechanical properties of this material could be represented approximately by a geotechnical model designed for soils or rocks. In this paper, a simple test is described for measuring the friction and wear of seals against steel sliders in a controlled atmosphere. The results, which are rather surprising, can be explained by applying the geotechnical model referred to above, to the case of sliding. 相似文献
