本文提出了一种高次杂交四边形边缘元方法。讨论了这种高次杂交边缘元的有限元空间构造,给出了其形函数的显形表达式。这种方法不仅消除了伪解而且能直接求解传播常数,从而无需迭代便能分析有耗介质导波结构的传输特性。对矩形导和条形介质填充波导本征模传播常数的计算表明这种高次杂交边缘元的计算精度比低次杂交边缘元要高出一个量级。  相似文献

讨论了一种新的高次边缘元方法,它不仅消除了伪解,并具有简单高效的特点.着重研究了二次边缘元的空间构造;给出了有关计算公式.对具有精确解的条形介质填充波导主模和高次模本征值的计算表明:二次边缘元方法的计算精度比一次边缘元提高约一个数量级.块状介质填充和衬底各向异性的微带线主模色散曲线的计算证实了该方法的精确性和广泛的适用性.  相似文献

A multipole analysis of a coaxial rectangular waveguide whose inner conductor is circular is made in order to determine the TE and TM modes of the system. The analysis is based on using multipole (dipole, quadrupole etc.) electric and magnetic current sources to generate field solutions in the waveguide. These solutions are used to match the electromagnetic boundary condition in a homogeneous coaxial rectangular waveguide and to determine the TE and TM eigenvalues of the waveguide system. Eigenvalue results are compared with results of the generalized spectral domain method and to eigenvalue results for a ridged waveguide. Propagation in a coaxial rectangular waveguide is also studied when the coaxial rectangular waveguide is loaded with lossy inhomogeneous dielectric material. A variational formula is used to relate the TEM, TE, and TM modes of an empty coaxial rectangular waveguide to the propagation in the loaded inhomogeneous dielectric waveguide  相似文献

An efficient computer-aided solution procedure based on the finite-element method is developed for solving general waveguiding structures containing lossy, anisotropic materials. In this procedure a formulation in terms of the transverse magnetic field component is adopted and the eigenvalue of the final matrix equation corresponds to the propagation constant itself. Thus one avoids the unnecessary iterations which arise when using complex frequencies. To demonstrate the strength of the presented method, numerical results are shown for a rectangular waveguide filled with lossy anisotropic dielectric with off-diagonal elements in a permittivity tensor and compared with those obtained by the telegrapher equation method. The results are in excellent agreement both for phase and for attenuation  相似文献

The principal formulations that have been proposed for finding the modes of waveguides by the finite element method are reviewed and compared. In each case, it is shown how Maxwell's equations may be reduced to matrix form using the method of weighted residuals. The formulations are compared from several points of view: their ability to handle spurious modes, lossy materials, and reentrant corners; the number of field components; and the properties of the matrices. Three benchmark problems are described and used to compare the formulations: a rectangular waveguide partially loaded with lossless dielectric; an air-filled, double-ridged waveguide; and a shielded image guide with either lossless or lossy dielectric  相似文献

This paper reports on the major progress in the development of an intelligent, interactive and automated system, based on the vector finite element method, and implemented within PDE/Protran problem solving environment. The system is known as WAVEGIDE and was originally developed by the authors for an efficient solution of inhomogeneous dielectric waveguides. In this paper, it has been further extended to the solution of anisotropic waveguiding structures. With our system, through an interactive “question-and-answer” session, which requires minimal knowledge of programming, the problem can be defined using high level PDE/Protran commands. It can then be simply and quickly solved by the main processor within this intelligent environment. To verify the convergence and accuracy of the present approach, numerical results (with respect to the grid density and element order) for a rectangular metallic waveguide half filled with dielectric are given and compared with other finite element methods. Numerical results for an anisotropic dielectric rectangular waveguide are also presented. These results clearly illustrate the accuracy and the ease of use of the modified WAVEGIDE program  相似文献

The microwave transmission and reflection is evaluated for stratified lossy dielectric segments partially filling the rectangular waveguide by the method which combines the multimode network theory with the rigorous mode matching procedure. As an example, we investigate in detail the microwave scattering properties of II-VI-epitaxial layer on a lossy dielectric substrate inserted in the rectangular waveguide. The experimental data verify the accuracy and the effectiveness of the present method. Extensive numerical results are presented to establish useful guidelines for the contactless microwave measurement of the conductivity of the epitaxial layer.  相似文献

The resonance method is applied to evaluate the impedances of the equivalent network for dielectric posts symmetrically located about a reference plane in a rectangular waveguide. Explicit relationships for the impedances of the equivalent lattice network of the posts in a rectangular waveguide are given in terms of the resonant frequencies of the rectangular cavity constructed by short-circuiting the waveguide at equal distances from the reference plane. A perturbational analysis is carried out to determine the resonant frequencies for a rectangular cavity loaded with slightly lossy circular posts whose largest cross-sectional dimensions are small compared with the wavelength. Electromagnetic fields in a rectangular waveguide containing a lossy dielectric cylinder are investigated by means of the orthogonal expansion method. The calculated results are provided by measurement. Resonance effects become visible through the frequency responses of the scattering parameters and understandable by patterns due to magnetic fields and Poynting vectors. The lowest resonance is nonsymmetric and can be used to realize tunable bandstop filters with a relative 3-dB bandwidth of about 0.04 and an attenuation of more than 40 dB  相似文献

A numerical method is formulated for the analysis of H-plane waveguide junctions with arbitrary cross sections. The junctions are loaded with arbitrarily shaped dielectric or ferrite. The method is a combination of the finite-element method and the boundary-element method, and is applied to the regions with and without dielectric or ferrite, respectively. To show the validity and usefulness of the method, a lossy dielectric post and a ferrite slab in a rectangular waveguide are investigated in detail, and the computed results are compared with earlier theoretical and experimental results  相似文献

A rigorous differential method describing the diffraction properties of lossy periodic surfaces is presented. A nonorthogonal coordinate system and a covariant formalism of Maxwell's equation are used simplifying boundary conditions expression. Only one eigenvalue system, unique for the TE and TM polarizations even for an oblique incidence, needs to be solved. Thus the numerical treatment is very efficient and CPU requirements significantly reduced. A rectangular waveguide partially filled with an anisotropic dielectric material has been studied. The method of analysis has been shown to be quite powerful. A new configuration with a rectangular waveguide unsymmetrically loaded with a rectangular dielectric insert has been analyzed, tested experimentally. The special effects of mode coupling by breaking the symmetry of the structure are studied and the consequences for single-mode operation with application to masers in the millimeter-wave region are demonstrated.  相似文献

The dispersion characteristics of rectangular waveguides filled with arbitrary block-shaped dielectrics are calculated by the method of finite element. A generalized program is given for the hybrid dominant and higher order modes. More than ten different rectangular waveguides loaded with various dielectric distributions have been investigated, and the results verify the reliability of the program. In particular, the useful bandwidth of the waveguide filled with I-shaped dielectric is analyzed in detail. The dispersion curves given in this paper are useful for analyzing and designing related microwave components of current interest.  相似文献

An approximate technique for solving eigenvalue equations, the variation-iteration method,is commonly used in theoretics physics. A previous paper presented the application of this method to the scalar case of a dielectric slab loaded rectangular waveguide. This paper presents its extension to the complex vector case of a lossy dielectric insert loaded waveguide. Starting from an initial trial function, iterates are calculated in which the components relative to the unwanted eigenfunctions are eliminated. Both an upper and a lower bound for the unknown eigenvalues are available. Each iterate is the solution of a system of algebraic simultaneous equations. This system is solved by the successive overrelaxation method using an automatically computed optimal accelerating factor. An extrapolation technique further accelerates the convergence. This yields the attenuation and propagation coefficients for the dominant as well as several other modes, together with the electric and magnetic field configurations.  相似文献

A dielectric-loaded (DL) waveguide is an attractive possibility for interaction circuits with high-power sources in the millimeter-wave regime down to tenths of millimeters, particularly for gyrotron-traveling-wave-tube amplifiers (gyro-TWTs). We present results on a systematic investigation of the influence of the periodically loaded lossy dielectric on the propagation characteristics of the operating modes, which reveals that a complex mode in the periodic system can be mapped to a corresponding mode in an empty waveguide or a uniform DL waveguide. Dielectric losses not only induce modal transitions between different modes with similar field structures and close phase velocities in the uniform system but also unify the discrete mode spectrum into a continuous spectrum in the periodic system. Since the lossy dielectric functions as a power sink, the higher order Bloch harmonic components arising from the structural periodicity are suppressed, and the mode spectrum of the lossy periodic system degenerates into that of an empty waveguide. This alleviates the potential danger of spurious oscillations induced by the higher order harmonic components, making the periodic lossy DL waveguide promising in a high-power millimeter-wave gyro-TWT.  相似文献
