LiBH4 films were prepared by pulsed laser deposition using a LiB target in a background pressure of hydrogen. The corrosion characteristics of LiBH4 films were measured by exposing them to a gas mixture of CO2/H2O/O2/N2 at ambient temperature for 1–24 h. Scanning electron microscopy images show some cracks on the surface of corrosion films, which could act as easy paths for H2O and CO2 to further react with Li+ and B3+. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results and theoretical analysis show that LiBH4 tends to react with H2O and CO2 to form Li2B4O7, Li2CO3 and LiOH during the corrosion process. 相似文献

The corrosion inhibition effect of N-aminorhodanine (N-AR) on mild steel (MS) in 0.5 M H2SO4 was studied in both short and long immersion duration using potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), linear polarization resistance (LPR), chronoamperometry and hydrogen gas evolution. The surface morphology of MS was examined with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in absence and presence inhibitor. The inhibitor adsorption process on MS surfaces obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The results show that NAR is a good inhibitor for MS in the acidic medium. The inhibition efficiency obtained from potentiodynamic polarization, EIS and LPR up to 98% is determined. 相似文献

Inhibition of the copper corrosion by means of indole-3-carboxylic acid (ICA), was studied in 0.5 M H2SO4 solutions in the temperature range from 25 °C to 55 °C using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The results obtained from the both measurement techniques revealed good inhibitor efficiency in the studied concentration range. Nyquist plots showed depressed semicircles with their centre below real axis. Moreover, the impedance spectra in the case of both non inhibited solutions and inhibited ones by means of lower inhibitor concentrations exhibited Warburg impedance. The adsorption behaviour of ICA followed Langmuir’s isotherm. 相似文献

The repassivation kinetics of iron aluminide having a composition of Fe-16Al-0.14C (wt.%) were investigated in 0.25 M H2SO4 along with pure Al and Fe using a rapid scratched electrode technique. The repassivation behaviour of iron aluminide demonstrated was faster compared with Al, whereas the repassivation behaviour of Fe was slower than Al despite having a lower passive current density than Al. The repassivation behaviour was analyzed in terms of current density [i/t] as a function of charge density [q/t] that flowed from the scratched surface based on high-field ion conduction model and surface chemistry of the passive film. A mechanistic model is presented to explain the passivation/repassivation behaviour of iron aluminide based on the new findings. 相似文献

The inhibition effect of three pyrazine derivatives of 2-methylpyrazine (MP), 2-aminopyrazine (AP) and 2-amino-5-bromopyrazine (ABP) on the corrosion of cold rolled steel (CRS) in 1.0 M H2SO4 solution was studied by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The results show that all pyrazine compounds are good inhibitors, and inhibition efficiency follows the order: ABP > AP > MP. The adsorption of each inhibitor on CRS surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm. For all these pyrazine derivatives, they act as mixed-type inhibitors. The probable inhibitive mechanism is proposed from the viewpoint of adsorption theory. 相似文献

Corrosion inhibition of copper in O2-saturated 0.50 M H2SO4 solutions by four selected amino acids, namely glycine (Gly), alanine (Ala), valine (Val), or tyrosine (Tyr), was studied using Tafel polarization, linear polarization, impedance, and electrochemical frequency modulation (EFM) at 30 °C. Protection efficiencies of almost 98% and 91% were obtained with 50 mM Tyr and Gly, respectively. On the other hand, Ala and Val reached only about 75%. Corrosion rates determined by the Tafel extrapolation method were in good agreement with those obtained by EFM and an independent chemical (i.e., non-electrochemical) method. The chemical method of confirmation of the corrosion rates involved determination of the dissolved Cu2+, using ICP-AES (inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry) method of chemical analysis. Nyquist plots exhibited a high frequency depressed semicircle followed by a straight line portion (Warburg diffusion tail) in the low-frequency region. The impedance data were interpreted according to two suitable equivalent circuits. The kinetics of dissolved O2 reduction and hydrogen evolution reactions on copper surface were also studied in O2-saturated 0.50 M H2SO4 solutions using polarization measurements combined with the rotating disc electrode (RDE). The Koutecky-Levich plot indicated that the dissolved O2 reduction at the copper electrode was an apparent 4-electron process. 相似文献

A newly synthesized glycine derivative (GlyD1), 2-(4-(dimethylamino)benzylamino)acetic acid hydrochloride, was used to control mild steel corrosion in 4.0 M H2SO4 solutions at different temperatures (278–338 K). Tafel extrapolation, linear polarization resistance (LPR) and impedance methods were used to test corrosion inhibitor efficiency. An independent method of chemical analysis, namely ICP-AES (inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry) was also used to test validity of corrosion rate measured by Tafel extrapolation method. Results obtained were compared with an available glycine derivative (GlyD2) and glycine (Gly). Tafel polarization measurements revealed that the three tested inhibitors function as mixed-type compounds. The inhibition efficiency increased with increase in inhibitor concentration and decreased with temperature, suggesting the occurrence of physical adsorption. The adsorptive behaviour of the three inhibitors followed Temkin-type isotherm and the standard free energy changes of adsorption () were evaluated for the three tested inhibitors as a function of temperature. The inhibition performance of GlyD1 was much better than those of GlyD2 and Gly itself. Results obtained from the different corrosion evaluation techniques were in good agreement. 相似文献

The synergistic effect of iodide ions and benzisothiozole-3-piperizine hydrochloride (BITP) on corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution has been studied by both chemical and electrochemical methods. The corrosion performance of BITP in 1.0 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 media was examined and compared. The adsorption of BITP and its combination with iodide ions on mild steel surface followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm via chemisorption mechanism. The calculated values of synergism parameter (Sθ) were found to be greater than unity. This result clearly showed the existence of synergism between iodide ions and BITP molecules. 相似文献

The inhibition behaviour of 2-undecyl-1-ethylamino-1-methylbenzyl quaternary imidazoline (2UMQI) and KI on mild steel in 1.0 M H2SO4 solutions was investigated at 25 °C using electrochemical methods. The results indicated that 2UMQI inhibited the corrosion of mild steel and the extent of inhibition increased with 2UMQI concentrations. The inhibition action in the presence of 2UMQI is due to physical adsorption of 2UMQI. A mixed-inhibition mechanism is proposed for the inhibitive effects of 2UMQI. Inhibition efficiency of 2UMQI was enhanced by the addition of iodide ions. In the presence of KI, the potentials of unpolarization, Eu was observed and increased with KI concentration. 相似文献

The nature of carbon steel surfaces in 0.01 M borate solutions (pH 10.6) have been characterized using a range of electrochemical techniques and ex situ analyses such as Raman and Auger spectroscopy. Their subsequent behaviour on exposure to 10−3 M H2O2-containing solutions has also been studied. The anodically oxidized carbon steel surfaces have been characterized according to three regions: (I) the potential range <−0.5 V (vs SCE), when the surface is active and covered by FeII/FeIII oxide/hydroxide; (II) the potential range −0.5 V to 0.0 V when the surface is passivated by an outer layer of FeIII oxide/hydroxide over the inner layer of FeII/FeIII oxide/hydroxide; and (III) potentials >0 V when further growth of the underlying layer appears to lead to minor film breakdown/restructuring. The addition of H2O2 to films grown in the passive region or above (II and III) leads initially to a degradation of the outer layer allowing increased growth of the inner layer. Subsequently, the outer passivating layer is repaired and passivity re-established. These changes appear to be confirmed by Raman spectroscopy. 相似文献

Phosphorous as a minor element (0.03%) in AISI 304 austenitic stainless steel greatly affects the polarization and corrosion behavior in sulfuric acid solution. The presence of P in stainless steel created a second current maximum in the anodic polarization curve and the current increased with increasing aging in the solution. An adhesive corrosion surface layer, rich with phosphate, formed on the surface of a P-containing steel during active dissolution. The layer lowered the cathodic Tafel slope at low current densities, and is likely, due to a change in hydrogen evolution mechanism. Phosphorous increases the H-adsorbed (and/or absorbed) atoms on the surface, leading to the appearance of a second anodic current peak that is interpreted as re-oxidation of hydrogen atoms. Also, P shifted the corrosion potential to the noble side, decreased effectively the active anodic dissolution, and lowered the corrosion rate. 相似文献

HVOF-sprayed coatings (WC-17Co, WC-10Co-4Cr, Co-28Mo-17Cr-3Si) and electrolytic hard chrome (EHC) coatings corrosion resistances have been compared through electrochemical polarization tests (0.1 N HCl, 0.1 N HNO3) and Corrodkote test. EHC coatings passivate in HNO3, but undergo pitting corrosion in HCl and in Corrodkote test too. HVOF coatings do not passivate, but possess more noble corrosion potentials. Both in HNO3 and HCl, they undergo more generalized corrosion, with similar icorr; crevice corrosion along splat boundaries is sometimes detected after the HCl test. Their icorr in 0.1 N HCl solution is lower than in several of EHC coatings. No visible damage in the HVOF coatings has occurred after the Corrodkote test. 相似文献

Acoustic emission (AE) behaviour during the electrochemical corrosion of 304 stainless steel (304SS) in H2SO4 solutions was studied. AE signals which related to transpassive dissolution are detected in solutions with low pH, and are very slightly influenced by current density and pre-strain. During hydrogen bubble evolution, a weak correlation exists between the AE signal amplitude and the hydrogen bubble diameter. The concept of potential – pH – AE diagram is proposed and such a diagram is drawn based on AE activity and b-values. The main mechanisms of AE sources which are transpassive dissolution and hydrogen bubble evolution, are also discussed. 相似文献

Thermally sprayed Al and Al/SiCp composite coatings have been deposited on ZE41 magnesium alloy and mechanical compaction at room temperature was applied to the Al and Al/SiCp coatings to reduce their porosity. Corrosion behaviour of coated samples was evaluated and compared to that of uncoated substrate in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution using electrochemical measurements. Al and Al/SiCp composite coatings reduced the corrosion current density of Mg-Zn alloys by three and two orders of magnitude, respectively, and reductions up to four orders of magnitude were obtained after mechanical compaction. 相似文献

The behaviour of an HVOF WC-17Co/Ni-5Al coating on Al7075 in aqueous NaCl is investigated. The coating susceptibility to localized corrosion depended on the potential of polarization reversal. A two-stage pseudopassivity was observed for WC-17Co: At low overpotentials, oxidation occurred in the binder leading to surface films composed of anhydrous Co- and W-oxides. At high overpotentials, oxidation extended to the carbide phase leading to the formation of hydrated WO3 films. Ni-5Al notably reduced the galvanic effect between WC-17Co and Al7075, whereas it hindered corrosion propagation into the substrate. The coating showed a high corrosion resistance during salt spraying for 49 days. 相似文献

Al2O3 diffusion barriers of various thicknesses have been fabricated by filtered arc ion plating between the NiCrAlY coating and the O-Ti2AlNb alloy. Isothermal oxidation tests and three-point bend tests have been conducted to investigate the influence of the Al2O3 diffusion barriers on the oxidation and interfacial fracture behaviour of the coatings. The results indicate that the Al2O3 diffusion barrier defers interdiffusion and gives oxidation resistance of the NiCrAlY coatings. The thickness of the Al2O3 interlayer not only influences the oxidation behaviour but also affects the interfacial fracture properties. Additionally, thermal exposure affects the critical load in three-point bend tests. 相似文献

Passive layers on Fe20Cr and Fe15Cr were prepared by anodic oxidation in 0.5 M H2SO4 and were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The preparation of the sputter-cleaned samples and their transfer to the ultrahigh vacuum was performed under protection of purified argon without any contact to the laboratory atmosphere. The prepassive layer consists of a homogeneous film with Cr(III)hydroxide and Cr(III)-sulphate with a low content of Fe(II). In the passive potential range a bilayer structure with enrichment of Cr(III)-oxides with an outer hydroxide and an inner oxide part is formed. Iron exists only in a bivalent oxidation state. In the transpassive potential range a pronounced change of the layer composition was observed: The outer part of the transpassive layer is formed predominantly by Fe(III) species whereas the inner part still contains a strong enrichment of Cr2O3. 相似文献
