2,2′ benzothiazolyl disulfide (BTDS) has been synthesised and their inhibiting action on mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 at 308 K has been investigated using weight loss, EIS, polarization and SEM study. BTDS showed better efficiency in 0.5 M H2SO4 compared to 1 M HCl. Polarization studies revealed that BTDS is a mixed type inhibitor in both acids predominantly cathodic in 1 M HCl where as predominantly anodic in 0.5 M H2SO4. Thermodynamic parameters i.e. free energy of adsorption, enthalpy, entropy and activation energy were calculated, the values of these parameters showed good interaction.  相似文献

Adsorption of four derivatives of piperidinylmethylindoline-2-one on mild steel surface in 1 M HCl solution and its corrosion inhibition properties has been studied by a series of techniques, such as polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), weight loss and quantum chemical calculation methods. The values of activation energy (Ea) for mild steel corrosion and various thermodynamic parameters were calculated and discussed. Potentiodynamic polarization measurements showed that all inhibitors are mixed type. The degree of surface coverage was determined by using weight loss measurements and it was found that adsorption process of studied inhibitors on mild steel surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm.  相似文献

The AE method is an effective technique for inspecting corrosion damage of mild steel, such as tank bottom floors. However, the correlation between AE signals and corrosion behaviour for mild steel has not yet been fully clarified. In the present study, the authors considered that the corrosion regions of bottom floors become a strong acid environment by Cl, as reported in a previous study. Thus, the polarization resistance for the test pieces of mild steel was measured with an AC impedance method under a strong acid environment. It was clear that the polarization resistance indicated the corrosion rate for a test piece of mild steel in the experiments. While measuring the AE signals, the corrosion rate was monitored with a test piece. As a result, the AE signal showed good correlation with the corrosion rates of the test pieces. The corrosion behaviour of the test pieces was then discussed with the corrosion potential measured during the experiments. Furthermore, the cathode current was changed to control the generated hydrogen gas volume. The volume of the hydrogen gas generated from the cathode reaction was correlated to the AE signals.  相似文献

The inhibiting properties of four azoles (indole, benzimidazole, benzotriazole, benzothiazole) were investigated in case of mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl. The effect of temperature was followed. Impedance spectroscopy, polarization resistance, gravimetric and polarization curves methods were applied. An adequate structural model of the interface in inhibitors presence is offered and the values of the corresponding parameters are calculated. The apparent activation energy of the process taking place in an inhibitor presence was determined on the ground of five temperature values in the range from 20 °C to 60 °C using the data obtained by two independent methods. Comparative investigations were carried out in 1 M H2SO4 aiming to elucidate the effect of the acid’s anion. The generalization of the data obtained provided to make conclusions concerning the mechanism of the inhibitors’ adsorption.  相似文献

Effect of Cefazolin on the corrosion of mild steel in HCl solution   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The adsorption and inhibition effect of Cefazolin on mild steel in 1.0 M HCl at 308-338 K was studied by weight loss, EIS, potentiodynamic polarization and atomic force microscopy techniques. The results showed that inhibition efficiency increased with inhibitor concentration. The adsorption of Cefazolin on mild steel surface obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm equation. Both thermodynamic (enthalpy of adsorption , entropy of adsorption and free energy of adsorption ) and kinetic parameters (activation energy and pre-exponential factor A) were calculated and discussed. Polarization curves showed that Cefazolin acted as mixed-type inhibitor controls predominantly cathodic reaction.  相似文献

p-(9-(2-Methylisoxazolidin-5-yl)nonyloxy)benzaldehyde I, prepared using a cycloaddition protocol, was elaborated into its cinnamaldehyde derivative II which upon quarternization with propargyl chloride afforded III bearing an interesting blend of structural traits suitable for imparting inhibition of mild steel corrosion. Novel compounds I–III showed efficient inhibition against mild steel corrosion in CO2–0.5 M NaCl (40 °C, 1 atm; 120 °C, 10 bar), 1, 4, 7.7 M HCl, and 0.5 M H2SO4 at 60 °C as determined by gravimetry and electrochemical methods. The presence of carbonaceous surface and nitrogen, as revealed by XPS study, indicated the formation of a film covering the metal surface, which imparted corrosion inhibition.  相似文献

Corrosion inhibition of mild steel in hydrochloric acid solution by doxycycline has been studied by weight loss measurements, polarization resistance, Tafel polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The inhibitor showed more than 95% inhibition efficiency at optimum concentration 9.02 × 10−4 M. Potentiodynamic polarization suggests that it is a mixed type of inhibitor. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was used to investigate the mechanism of corrosion inhibition. Thermodynamic parameters were calculated to investigate mechanism of inhibition. The compound follows Langmuir adsorption isotherm. AFM studies of mild steel surface with and without inhibitor were performed and calculated roughness also supported the inhibition data.  相似文献

Potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), weight loss measurements and atomic force microscopy techniques were used to investigate the inhibitory effect of diethylcarbamazine (DECM) on corrosion of mild steel in HCl solution. The inhibitor showed >90% inhibition efficiency at 5.01 × 10−4 M. Results obtained revealed that inhibition occurs through adsorption of inhibitor molecules on metal surface without modifying the mechanism of corrosion process. Potentiodynamic polarization studies suggested that it is a mixed type inhibitor, predominantly controls cathodic reaction. Activation parameters (Ea, ΔH and ΔS) and thermodynamic parameters (, and ) were calculated to investigate mechanism of inhibition.  相似文献

Study of the efficacy of some lactones to counter iron corrosion in 1 M hydrochloric acid using ab initio quantum chemical deductions and its comparison with the available experimental data forms a part of this research. It is believed that the inhibition efficiency has lucid correlation with the charge of oxygen atoms of inhibitor molecules. Furthermore, thermo-chemical calculations for oxepan-2-one (L3) on iron cluster result in adsorption energies close to experimental values. However, the interaction energies of L3 and iron cluster with the natural bond orbital are also reported. Furthermore, interaction energy of hydrogen ion and inhibitor with iron surface is investigated.  相似文献

The corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 1 M HCl solution by cefotaxime sodium has been studied by Tafel polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and weight loss measurement. The inhibitor showed 95.8% inhibition efficiency at optimum concentration 300 ppm. Results obtained revealed that inhibition occurs through adsorption of the cefotaxime on metal surface without modifying the mechanism of corrosion process. Potentiodynamic polarization studies suggest that it is a mixed type of inhibitor. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques were also used to investigate the mechanism of corrosion inhibition.  相似文献

Five azoles were investigated as corrosion inhibitors of mild steel in 1 M HCl using gravimetric and polarisation techniques. The chosen azoles have similar chemical structure - their molecules have similar geometry and in an adsorption state almost the same area. The inhibiting properties were found to depend on both the concentration and the molecular structure of the compounds. The adsorption of benzimidazole and 1,3-benzothiazole is described by the Frumkin isotherm, while in the case of 1H-benzotiazole and indole the Langmuir isotherm can be applied. An attempt was made to correlate the inhibitive properties with the electronic structure of the molecules and it was found that the inhibitor properties are connected with the presence of aromatic structure which includes the heterocycle and depend on the number of the lone electron pairs. The HOMO and LUMO energies were calculated and it was found that their values can explain only some features of the observed phenomena.  相似文献

The effect of 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole (DMTD) on the corrosion of mild steel (MS) in 1.0 M H2SO4 was investigated. DMTD acted as a mixed-type inhibitor without change of the mechanism of hydrogen evolution. The inhibition efficiency increased with the increase in concentration of DMTD but decreased with the increase of temperature. Adsorption of the inhibitor on the MS surface obeyed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The potential of zero charge suggests MS surface is positively charged in 1.0 M H2SO4. Thermodynamics and quantum chemical calculations reveal that the adsorption process of DMTD includes electrostatic interaction and electron donor–acceptor interactions.  相似文献

A comparative study of two oleo-gum resins exudate from Ferula assa-foetida (F. assa-foetida) and Dorema ammoniacum (D. ammoniacum), as inhibitors for mild steel corrosion in 2 M HCl solution was investigated by weight loss measurements, potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. Potentiodynamic polarization curves indicated that both oleo-gums behave as mixed type inhibitors. The effect of temperature on the inhibition efficiency was studied. At all temperatures, the experimental data fit Langmuir isotherm for both oleo-gum resin exudates. Quantum chemical calculations were performed to illustrate the adsorption process of some specific components of two oleo-gum resin exudates.  相似文献

The effect of 1-methyl-3-pyridin-2-yl-thiourea on the corrosion resistance of mild steel in H2SO4 solution was investigated by different techniques. The results show that the inhibition efficiency increases with the increase of inhibitor concentration. This compound affects both the anodic dissolution of steel and the hydrogen evolution reaction in 0.5 M H2SO4. The adsorption of this inhibitor is also found to obey the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. From the adsorption isotherm, value of the ΔGads for the adsorption process was calculated. From the corrosion rate obtained at 25-45 ± 1 °C Ea, ΔHa and possible mechanism have been proposed.  相似文献

Inhibition of mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl solution by Pheniramine drug was studied using weight loss, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, linear polarization resistance, and potentiodynamic polarization measurements. The values of activation energy (Ea) and different thermodynamic parameters such as adsorption equilibrium constant (Kads), free energy of adsorption , adsorption enthalpy and adsorption entropy were calculated and discussed. The adsorption process of studied drug on mild steel surface obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Potentiodynamic polarization measurements showed that Pheniramine is mixed-type inhibitor. Further, theoretical calculations were carried out and relations between computed parameters and experimental inhibition efficiency were discussed.  相似文献

The corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 1.0 M HCl solution by four Schiff bases was investigated using weight loss and electrochemical measurements and quantum chemical calculations. All compounds showed >90% inhibition efficiency at their optimum concentrations. The activation energy (Ea) of corrosion and other thermodynamic parameters were calculated to elaborate the mechanism of corrosion inhibition. The adsorption of the inhibitors on the mild steel surface follows Langmuir isotherm model. Polarization studies indicated that all studied inhibitors are mixed type. The computed quantum chemical properties viz., electron affinity (EA) and molecular band gap (ΔEMBG) show good correlation with experimental inhibition efficiencies.  相似文献

Investigation on some Schiff bases as corrosion inhibitors for mild steel   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
In the present work, the effect of some newly synthesized Schiff bases containing sulphur nitrogen as heteroatom was investigated on mild steel corrosion in acidic media. Electrochemical studies of the mild steel samples were performed in an aerated solution of 0.1 M HCl + dimethyl sulphoxide (DMS) as co-solvent. DMS is also behaving as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel. At low inhibitor concentration and short immersion time one can see only the inhibitive effect of DMS as anodic inhibitor for mild steel. At high concentration and long immersion time inhibition efficiencies are increased and cathodic inhibition is observed.  相似文献

Corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 2 M HCl and 1 M H2SO4 by extracts of selected plants was investigated using a gasometric technique at temperatures of 30 and 60 °C. The studied plants materials include leaf extracts Occimum viridis (OV), Telferia occidentalis (TO), Azadirachta indica (AI) and Hibiscus sabdariffa (HS) as well as extracts from the seeds of Garcinia kola (GK). The results indicate that all the extracts inhibited the corrosion process in both acid media by virtue of adsorption and inhibition efficiency improved with concentration. Synergistic effects increased the inhibition efficiency in the presence of halide additives. Inhibition mechanisms were deduced from the temperature dependence of the inhibition efficiency as well as from assessment of kinetic and activation parameters that govern the processes. Comparative analysis of the inhibitor adsorption behaviour in 2 M HCl and 1 M H2SO4 as well as the effects of temperature and halide additives suggest that both protonated and molecular species could be responsible for the inhibiting action of the extracts.  相似文献

Ammonium salts of O,O′-dialkyldithiophosphoric acids (RО)2 Р(S) S HN+, were synthesized and tested as inhibitors for carbon dioxide corrosion of mild steel using weight loss, polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy methods. High inhibition efficiency has been found for all compounds (η = 70–99%) at very low concentrations (0.25–5) mg l−1. Polarization curves show that the title compounds can be considered as inhibitors of the mixed type. The absorption of inhibitor molecules on the mild steel surface obeys the Langmuir isotherm. Inhibition efficiency for some ammonium salts increases with temperature. The activation energy and some thermodynamic parameters were computed.  相似文献
