The information services market, emerging from the convergence of telecommunications, information technology, entertainment and other industries, poses serious challenges for operational support systems. Historical ways of understanding and delivering operational support functions will no longer work. Business management functions will increasingly be a major commercial differentiator in the new market. This paper argues that these functions need to be re-defined as business services so that a market can develop in them. It explains a technical approach to defining and building these business services, which is being researched at BT Laboratories, and which uses configurable business objects and intelligent agents. This approach offers the possibility of managing the complexity that the explosion of new information services will bring, and also of opening up exciting new business possibilities.  相似文献

Operational support is increasingly a key differentiator for telecommunications operators. It is an essential part of launching and delivering telecommunications services. However, the quickening pace of new product and service launches, together with increasing customer expectations and changes in commercial structures for service delivery, all highlight the need for more imaginative ways of providing operational support. This paper describes some innovative work at BT to introduce collaborative working into the end-to-end processes of operational support, between supplier and customer. It has applied the principles of community of interest networks (running over extranets) to back-office processing in the carrier business, between operators. Distributed systems principles and technologies underpin the technical design, and business benefits are available to all the organisations using it.  相似文献

A recurring theme for modern business is adaptability. The ability to exploit resources, skills and market position in new ways to increase returns on investment is paramount. Large companies in particular need to understand their internal and external supply chains to identify and evaluate new opportunities. BT has a history of developing and supplying all the services required by its end customers; but the world is changing rapidly, new types of player are emerging and BT now supplies its many services to many different types of customer — service providers, resellers and peers as well as end customers. There needs to be a way of understanding the implications of the different forms of customer/supplier relationship on the design and implementation of BT's systems.This paper presents a new set of patterns for businesses and their supply relationship. These patterns can be used to examine supply chains and the paper illustrates how these different supply relationships place different requirements on the operational support systems. Such patterns will be core to a flexible strategy within high performing, adaptable businesses.  相似文献

为了在市场竞争中保持及发展客户、提升客户价值,运营商迫切需要了解客户的行为特征以及业务发展、收益、营销、服务等方面的运营情况,以便及时制定更加合理和高效的经营策略,更好地在竞争中掌握主动.于是,电信企业纷纷着手建立数据仓库和在线分析处理(OLAP)系统,通过对运营支撑系统多年积累的业务数据进行整合和分析,以获得有价值的分析结果.但是,OLAP侧重的是对历史数据的分析,回答的是"过去发生了什么和为什么会发生"的问题,而运营商在对过去和现在的经营状况进行分析掌握的同时,更加渴望对整个企业未来的发展状况做出比较完整、合理、准确的分析和预测,于是,数据挖掘技术由于能够发现潜在的知识以及能够回答"将要发生什么"的问题而被电信企业加以"重用".本文简要阐述了数据挖掘技术、主要模型及方法、数据挖掘的实施步骤,并结合具体的案例说明数据挖掘在电信行业经营分析系统中的应用.  相似文献

This is easier to achieve in theory than practice, requiring in-depth knowledge of the business domain and implementation technology.The OSS through Java™ (OSS/J™) Initiative comprises equipment vendors, independent software vendors (ISVs) and system integrators (SIs) that are producing a practical set of Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE™) based APIs designed to support the business and technology goals of a telecommunications service provider.This paper overviews the work of the OSS/J Initiative and evaluates the likelihood of it being adopted and reused as the standard practice for operational support systems interfaces.  相似文献

随着分行网络系统的全面推广和各项业务的不断发展,分行网络系统已经不能满足业务发展的需要。为了提高分行系统的运作效率,为客户提供方便快捷和丰富多彩的服务,增强分行系统的发展力、影响力,提高分行系统的竞争能力,本文提出一种分行网络系统的路由策略设计方案,主要通过对分行网络系统的核心区域、广域网区域、服务器区域和客户端接入区域进行路由设计,达到整个网络系统路由的优化设计。结果表明,该设计满足了分行服务器上收和全行业务系统快速部署、稳定运行的要求,在高可靠性、可扩展性、高安全性、可管理性等方面能够适应新的形势下业务发展的需求。  相似文献

Web Services offer the promise of allowing BT, along with its customers, partners and suppliers, to be able to assemble distributed applications that span multiple systems and organisations. The commercial drivers for this are cost reduction, new revenue opportunities and a better service through the use of automated end-to-end business processes. To achieve these benefits, BT will require a fully managed internal Web Services infrastructure. At the same time, creating a managed platform for our customers' Web Services deployments provides us with a new business opportunity. Early experience suggests that 20% of the effort in creating a commercial Web Services application is expended in defining the commercial opportunity, the service interfaces and server implementations. The remaining 80% is spent on ensuring that the operational and deployment environment is adequate to support business-grade service levels. Managing that 80% of the problem for our customers is a business opportunity for BT. This paper describes the requirements for a management platform for Web Services and then goes on to describe some of the value added business services that this platform can support.
