Asymptotic expansion for the transient response of radiation fields due to electric dipole located above the conducting wedge with an arbitrary angle embedded in a simple plasma is derived by using the saddle point method of integration. In this paper, the total scattering and back-scattering cross-sections (respectively represented by σ and σb) of an air plasma layer surrounding a conducting cylinder are studied. The plasma layer can be turned ON and OFF to allow for a comparison between the scattering cross-section of the bare cylinder and the plasma covered cylinder. The plasma layer is generated at atmospheric pressure, which results in a very highly collisional case. The scattered fields are calculated using a cylindrical expansion, with coefficients satisfying the appropriate boundary conditions, and which are a function of the refractive index of the air plasma. The results of our study are presented as plots of the total scattering cross-section, σ, and back-scattering cross-section, σb, versus frequency. The scattering cross-section gives an average characteristic of the scattering process from obstacles. Once the scattering cross-section is known, the actual scattered energy per unit length per second can be calculated by multiplying σ by the incident energy per unit area per second. 相似文献

A numerical method is proposed for computing the normalized correlation functions of the real and imaginary parts of the field scattered from a statistically rough perfectly conducting circular cylinder. The deviation of the surface from its mean radius is assumed to be small. The correlation function of the far-field is related to the correlation function of the scattering object by an integral equation. Far-field correlation functions are found for two types of surface correlation functions: the delta function and a periodic exponential function. 相似文献

An exact analytic solution is presented to the problem of scattering from a coated perfect electromagnetic conducting (PEMC) elliptic cylinder, when it is illuminated by a plane wave as well as a line source. The problem is formulated by expanding the various fields in terms of appropriate angular and radial Mathieu functions and a set of expansion coefficients. The expansion coefficients associated with the incident fields are known, but those associated with the scattered fields and the fields within the coating are unknown. Imposing boundary conditions at the surface of the PEMC elliptic cylinder and the surface of the coating, enables the determination of the unknown expansion coefficients. Results are presented in the form of normalized scattering widths for elliptic cylinders of various sizes, PEMC admittances, and different coatings, to show the effects of these on scattering. 相似文献

A method is developed that enables the solution of scattering by a finite number of cylinders in a convenient and accurate form. It is based on an analytic formulation using the boundary value problem and an application of a point matching technique. The method is then applied to study the scattering properties of both conducting and dielectric cylinders. It is also used to determine the size and spacing of passive scatterers to improve the directivity of linear antennas. In the latter case, a combination of the present method and a space perturbation technique is utilized to optimize the antenna gain. 相似文献

Several series of rigorous numerical calculations of the backscatter cross section of a conducting sphere with a thin lossless dielectric coating were carried out. The ratio of the radius to wavelength was varied from about 0.02 to 10.0; the dielectric constant of the coating was taken to be 2.56, 4.0, or 6.0; and the thickness of the coating was 0.1 or 0.05 times the outer radius of the coated sphere. Curves of the results are presented which indicate that the backscatter cross section of a coated sphere may be increased by as much as a factor of ten over that of an uncoated sphere of the same size, and, due to interference effects, an even greater decrease may be obtained. Further, small changes (less than one per cent) in the thickness or dielectric constant of the coating, or in the wavelength, may bring about large changes in the cross section. The numerical results are also compared with some experimental measurements, and with predictions of a "creeping-wave" type of analysis carried out by Helstrom. 相似文献

Scattering of plane waves by a semi-infinite anisotropic thin dielectric layer is investigated, which can be considered as an example for electromagnetic energy absorbing materials. A pair of second-order boundary conditions is used to simulate an anisotropic thin dielectric layer as an infinitesimally thin sheet. Formulation is based on the Fourier integral transform technique, which reduces the scattering problem to two decoupled scalar Wiener-Hopf equations. Diffracted, reflected, and transmitted field terms are evaluated by using the Wiener-Hopf solutions that is obtained by the standard method. The scattering of electromagnetic waves by a perfect electromagnetic conductor (PEMC) cylinder coated with a homogeneous plasma anisotropic material is studied in this paper. Both of the transverse electric and the transverse magnetic polarizations of the incident waves have been analyzed and formulated. The presented analysis and formulations are general for any perfect conductor cylinder (PEC, PMC, or PEMC) with general isotropic/anisotropic material coatings that include plasma and metamaterials. The co-polarized and the cross-polarized components of the scattered fields are computed for different cases of the anisotropic plasma coated PEMC cylinders and for an anisotropic plasma column. Bistatic echo widths for the cases of PEMC, PEC (perfect electric conductor) and PMC (perfect magnetic conductor) cores have been computed and compared. The behavior of the monostatic echo width with the variation of the admittance parameter for the co-polarized and the cross polarized fields is also investigated. The comparisons of the computed results of the presented formulations with the published results of some special cases confirm the accuracy of the presented analysis. 相似文献

The problem of the interaction of an incidentH wave with an infinite conducting cylinder coated with an inhomogeneous and anisotropic plasma sheath is treated analytically. Numerical results for the farfield pattern of the scattered field as well as the backscattering cross sections are presented for various interesting ranges of the parameters involved. Detailed discussion of the effects of the impressed static magnetic field, the sheath thickness, and the density and profile of the plasma sheath on the scattered wave is also presented. The scattering of an electromagnetic wave from a conducting cylinder clad with an anisotropic plasma of arbitrary electron density is considered, and the eigenfunction solution is obtained. The resonant behavior of the system is investigated. The resonant conditions are obtained, and damping of the resonant scattering by finite size effects and collisional dissipation is studied. The Rayleigh and geometrical optics limiting cases are derived, and the approach of the plasma scattering to that from a metallic body for increasing plasma frequency (electron density) is obtained. The scattering of a plane electromagnetic wave by an electron-plasma column rotating around its axis in the presence of a static magnetic field is discussed on the basis of Maxwell's equations and the constitutive relations for a rotating electron plasma derived from the electron-theoretical consideration. For two special cases, that where a plane wave is normally incident upon a rotating electron-plasma column without axial drift and that where a plane wave is obliquely incident upon an electron-plasma column rotating with the Larmor frequency and drifting in the axial direction, the scattering properties of a rotating electron-plasma column are investigated in detail with the aid of numerical examples. From the numerical examples for the backscattering cross section and the scattering pattern, it is found that there appear various interesting phenomena that are characteristic of a rotating electron-plasma column. 相似文献

为了研究厄米-高斯波束在各向异性媒质中的散射特性,采用了将各向异性圆柱的散射场和内部场用圆柱矢量波函数展开,应用电磁场边界条件和投影法,提出了一种分析单轴各向异性圆柱对厄米-高斯波束散射特性研究的精确半解析方法; 获得了厄米-高斯波束通过单轴各向异性圆柱的内场以及近场的归一化强度分布图; 对两种不同的厄米高斯波束入射情形做出了分析和对比。结果表明,两种波束在通过圆柱后都有入射波和反射波叠加而成的驻波现象,而TEM10(x′)模式厄米-高斯波束入射后近场强度增强,且有明显的折射现象。该研究结果对厄米-高斯波束的应用具有一定的参考价值。 相似文献

研究大气中带电粒子对电磁波的散射特性,对利用遥感方法雷达探测云层、雷电预警、分析沙尘对电磁波传播的影响等具有重要意义。从宏观和微观两个方面分析了瑞利散射条件下大气粒子带电对电磁波散射的影响。宏观和微观分别反映了电磁波散射的两种机制,分别对应的是受电场作用后电荷运动形成宏观电流对电磁波的散射,以及单个电荷(电子)受电场作用后在平衡位置附近振动而引起的电磁散射。通过对比中性粒子和所带电荷对电磁波的散射截面量级,分析了大气粒子带电后对电磁波散射的影响。研究表明:宏观上粒子所带电荷对电磁波的散射没有影响,而微观上,在某些频率附近,粒子所带电荷会对电磁波的散射产生较大影响。 相似文献
