In this study, we prepared photo-crosslinked modified HAP (hydroxy apatite)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) composite nanofiber scaffold for cell growth applications. HAP was synthesized and then modified with 4-vinylbenzene boronic acid (VBBA) to obtain 4-VBBA-HAP. By means of the simultaneous UV electrospinning technique 4-VBBA-HAP/PVA composite was obtained. The structure and morphology of electrospun membranes were investigated by scanning electron microscopy) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy technique. Nanofibers were treated with collagen solution via the spraying method. For the cell culture applications ECV304 and SAOS cells were seeded on the chosen electrospun fibrous scaffolds.  相似文献

We investigated the effects of two different solvent types and three solution concentrations on the electrospinning of solid state polymerized polyamide 66 (SSP PA66) nanofiber yarns. Nanofiber yarns were electrospun from SSP PA66 solutions in formic acid and formic acid/chloroform (3/1), using two oppositely metallic spinnerets system. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X‐ray diffraction (XRD) were employed to characterize the morphology and properties of the nanofibrous yarns. Experimental results show that adding chloroform to formic acid as a binary solvent increases viscosity of polymer solution and the nanofibers diameter significantly. XRD patterns reveal that the presence of chloroform affects the crystallinity and the mechanical properties of the produced nanofibrous yarns. PA66 nanofiber yarn from 10 wt % formic acid/chloroform (3/1) solution was successfully electrospun with strength and modulus of 120.16 MPa and 1216.27 MPa respectively. It is also shown that the solution concentration has a significant effect on the modulus of the nanofibers yarns. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2012  相似文献

Mixed rutile–anatase TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrothermal treatment under acidic conditions and incorporated into poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA). These nanocomposites were electrospun to produce nanofibers of PVA/TiO2, which were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction (XRD), UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry. The photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B and degradation of the polymer by UV‐C lamps were also investigated. The results showed that TiO2 nanoparticles did not change the morphology and thermal behavior of the nanofiber polymer, but were effective in modifying the UV absorption of PVA without reducing its stability. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Electrospinning is a well-known technique for producing nanofibers using synthetic and natural polymers like mucilage. In this study, Plantago major Mucilage (PMM) was blended with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a nontoxic adding agent, in order to produce electrospun nanofiber. Electrospinning parameters (voltage, tip-to-collector distance, feed rate, and PMM/PVA ratio) were optimized and solution properties were analyzed. The morphology of nanofibers was investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET). Mechanical strength of nanofibers was determined, and cell viability on nanofibers was discussed by MTT assay. The results of SEM indicated that the PMM/PVA (50/50) nanofibers obtained with average diameter of 250 nm. Viscosity, electrical conductivity, and surface tension of PMM/PVA solution were 550 Cp, 575 μS/cm, and 47.044 mN/m, respectively. FTIR and XRD results verified the exiting PMM in produced nanofibers and no chemical reaction between PMM and PVA. Improvement in mechanical strength and cell viability of nanofibers by adding PMM to PVA nanofibers indicated the potential application of PMM-based nanofibers for medical and food industries. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The dispersion behavior of single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) has important effects on morphological and mechanical properties of SWCNT composite nanofibers. The relationship of the dispersion conditions with morphological and mechanical characteristics for SWCNT / polyacrylonitrile (PAN) / polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) composite nanofibers have been examined. The SEM and TEM analyses of the nanofibers revealed that the deformation in the nanofiber structures increases with increasing concentration of SWCNTs. Tensile results showed that only 2 wt% SWCNT loading to the electrospun composite nanofibers gave rise to 10‐fold and 3‐fold increase in the tensile modulus and tenacity of nanofiber layers, respectively. Essentially, high mechanical properties and uniform morphology of the composite nanofibers were found at SWCNT concentration of ∼2 wt% due to their stable and individual dispersion. POLYM. Graphene nanosheets (GNSs) have attracted significant scientific attention because of their remarkable features, including exceptional electron transport, excellent mechanical properties, high surface area, and antibacterial functions. Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) solutions filled with GNSs were prepared for electrospinning, and their spinnability was correlated with their solution properties. The effects of GNS addition on solution rheology and conductivity were investigated. The as‐spun fibers were characterized via scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction (WAXD), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results revealed the effects of GNS on the microstructure, morphology, and crystallization properties of PVA/GNS composite nanofibers. The addition of GNSs in PVA solution increased the viscosity and conductivity of the solution. The electrospun fiber diameter of the PVA/GNS composite nanofiber was smaller than that of neat PVA nanofiber. GNSs were not only embedded at the fibers but also formed protrusions on the fibers. In addition, the crystallinity of PVA/GNS fiber decreased with higher GNS content. The possible application of PVA/GNS fibers in tissue engineering was also evaluated. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, free radical copolymerization of acrylonitrile (AN)–vinyl acetate (VAc) was performed for five different feed ratio of VAc (wt %) by using ammonium persulfate (APS) in the aqueous medium. The effect of VAc content on the spectrophotometric and thermal properties of AN–VAc copolymers was investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared–Attenuated Total Reflectance spectrophotometer (FTIR–ATR), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA). Thermal stability of homopolymer of AN is improved after being copolymerized. The electrospun P(AN‐co‐VAc) nanofibers were fabricated and the effect of VAc content on the morphologic properties of nanofibers was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The viscosity of the solution had a significant effect on P(AN‐co‐VAc) electrospinning and the nanofiber morphology. The average diameters of P(AN‐co‐VAc) nanofibers decreased 3.4 times with increasing feed ratio of VAc wt %. The P(AN‐co‐VAc) electrospun nanofiber mats, with the feed ratio of 30 wt % VAc, can be used as a nanofiber membrane in filtration and as a carbon nanofiber precursor for energy storage applications due to high surface to volume ratio, high thermal stability, homogeneous, and thinner nanofiber distribution. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, electrospun biocompatible nanofibers with random orientation were prepared by physically blending poly(vinyl alcohol)‐stilbazol quaternized (PVA‐SbQ) with zein in acetic acid solution for wound healing. PVA‐SbQ was used as the foundation polymer as well as crosslinking agent, blended with zein to achieve desirable properties such as improved tensile strength, surface wettability, and in vitro degradable properties. Moreover, vaccarin drug was incorporated in situ into electrospun nanofibrous membranes for cell viability and cell attachment. The addition of vaccarin showed great effects on the morphology of nanofiber and enhanced cell viability and proliferation in comparison with composite nanofibers without drug. The presence of PVA‐SbQ, zein, and vaccarin drug in the nanofibrous membranes exhibited good compatibility, hydrophilicity, and biocompatibility and created a moist environment to have potential application for wound healing. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cress seed mucilage (CSM) as a new source of biomacromolecule has gained attraction in food science due to its biodegradability and biocompatibility. In this research CSM–poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) nanofibers were produced under different conditions by electrospinning technique. Viscosity and electrical conductivity of the produced biopolymers were analyzed. The effect of CSM to PVA volume ratio and applied electrical field were evaluated on nanofiber morphology by scanning electron spectroscopy. The optimum nanofibers showed smooth and uniform surfaces with diameter size range of 95–278 nm. The results of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy of CSM–PVA nanofiber with volume ratio of 60:40 showed characteristic peaks of CSM and PVA. X‐ray diffractometer data clearly revealed the amorphous structure of the electrospun nanofibers. Thermogravimetric and derivative thermogravimetric analysis indicated that thermal stability of electrospun nanofibers increased in comparison to CSM and PVA. The results of this study indicated that CSM can be applied as a new source of biopolymer for production of nanofibers that could be used for different applications such as delivery systems and packaging film fabrication. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This study focused on the preparation of electrospun cross‐linked double‐network (DN) of agarose/polyacrylamide (PAAm) nanofibers. The agarose formed the first‐network that was physical‐linked by the agar helix bundles. After UV‐irradiation, the chemically crosslinked PAAm was formed as the second network. The resulting cross‐linked DN agarose/PAAm nanofibers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), contact angle, attenuated total reflectance‐Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR‐FT‐IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and tensile test. SEM analysis shows the agarose/PAAM nanofibers present with the thickness of 187 nm. Agarose/PAAm nanofibers were showing FT‐IR spectral peaks at ~1660, 1590, and 1070 cm?1 indicating the presence of both agarose and polyacrylamide in the crosslinked DN Agarose/PAAm nanofiber sheet, it suggests the strong interaction and good compatibility between the two components. Agarose/PAAm nanofiber sheet was showing thermal stability close to the pure polyacrylamide. From the tensile test study, agarose/PAAm strength improved by 66.66% compared to the pure agarose. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2016 , 133, 42914.  相似文献

Fully-hydrolyzed poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) nanofibers were successfully electrospun from aqueous solutions of PVA in the presence of acetic acid. A continuous spinning of uniform PVA nanofibers proceeded by the addition of acetic acid due to the changes of electronic conductivity and surface tension of aqueous solution of PVA. When cross-linking agent 1 was added to aqueous solution of PVA and subsequent thermal treatment of as-spun nanofibers, chemically cross-linked PVA nanofibers were achieved to resist disintegration in contact with hot water and the tensile mechanical property of nanofiber non-wovens was greatly improved by the formation of cross-linking points. Magnetite was deposited uniformly onto the hydrophilic surface of cross-linked PVA nanofibers and the resulted nanofibers decorated with magnetite showed a magnetic responsiveness. The deposition of magnetite on the PVA nanofibers can generate self-standing magnetic non-wovens.  相似文献

The behavior of electrospun polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyethylene oxide (PEO) nanofibers embedded with urea is studied as a function of various process parameters. Our results show that three‐dimensional nanofiber networks can be obtained when high concentrations of urea in the solution are used during electrospinning. The nanofibers are characterized using both scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The stability of the nanofiber as a function of electric field has also been studied. The successful formation of three‐dimensional nanofiber networks can open new trends toward applications in fertilizers containing nanofibers in the nanoagricultural field. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Graphene oxide (GO) was well dispersed in poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) diluted aqueous solution, and then the mixture was electrospun into GO/PVA composite nanofibers. Electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy on the as‐prepared and calcined samples confirm the uniform distribution of GO sheets in the nanofibers. The thermal and mechanical properties of the nanofibers vary considerably with different GO filler contents. The decomposition temperatures of the GO/PVA composite nanofiber dropped by 38–50°C compared with pure PVA. A very small loading of 0.02 wt % GO increases the tensile strength of the nanofibers by 42 times. A porous 3D structure was realized by postcalcining nanofibers in H2. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/waterborne polyurethane (WBPU) nanofiber mats were prepared using electrospinning method with aqueous solutions. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA), and tensile strength testing machine (ZWICK) were used to characterize the morphology and properties of the PVA/WBPU nanofiber mats. The results showed that the morphologies of PVA/WBPU nanofiber mats changed with the total solid concentration and the mass ratio of PVA/WBPU in the spinning solution. The tensile strength and thermal stability of the fibers could be significantly affected by the WBPU contents. The electrospun PVA/WBPU membranes showed higher water uptake, which would have potential applications in wound dressings. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2011  相似文献

Electrospinning processing can be applied to fabricate fibrous polymer mats composed of fibers whose diameters range from several microns down to 100 nm or less. In this article, we describe how electrospinning was used to produce zein nanofiber mats and combined with crosslinking to improve the mechanical properties of the as‐spun mats. Aqueous ethanol solutions of zein were electrospun, and nanoparticles, nanofiber mats, or ribbonlike nanofiber mats were obtained. The effects of the electrospinning solvent and zein concentration on the morphology of the as‐spun nanofiber mats were investigated by scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that the morphologies of the electrospun products exhibited a zein‐dependent concentration. Optimizing conditions for zein produced nanofibers with a diameter of about 500 nm with fewer beads or ribbonlike nanofibers with a diameter of approximately 1–6 μm. Zein nanofiber mats were crosslinked by hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI). The tensile strength of the crosslinked electrospun zein nanofiber mats was increased significantly. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 103:380–385, 2007  相似文献

In this study, nanofiber meshes were produced from aqueous mixtures of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and honey via electrospinning. The Electrospinning process was performed at different PVAs to honey ratios (100/0, 90/10, 80/20, 70/30, and 60/40). Dexamethasone sodium phosphate was selected as an anti‐inflammatory drug and incorporated in the electrospinning solutions. Its release behavior was determined. Uniform and smooth nanofibers were formed, independent of the honey content. In case honey content increased up to 40%, some spindle‐like beads on the fibers were observed. The diameter of electrospun fibers decreased as the ratio of honey increased. The release characteristics of the model drug from both the PVA and PVA/honey (80/20) nanofibrous mats were studied and statistical analysis was performed. All electrospun fibers exhibited a large initial burst release at a short time after incubation. The release profile was similar for both PVA and PVA/honey (80/20) drug‐loaded nanofibers. This study shows that an anti‐inflammatory drug can be released during the initial stages and honey can be used as a natural antibiotic to improve the wound dressing efficiency and increase the healing rate. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Natural silk, from Bombyx mori solutions were electrospun into nanofibers, with diameters ranged from 60 to 7000 nm. The effects of electrospinning temperature, solution concentration and electric field on the formation nanofibers were studied. Optical and scanning electron microscope were used to study the morphology and diameter of electrospun nanofibers. It was observed that the nanofibers became flattened with ribbon‐like shape with increasing the electrospinning temperature. The nanofiber diameter increases with the increase in the concentration of silk solution at all electrospinning temperature. With increasing the voltage of electric field at 50°C, morphology of the nanofibers changes from ribbon‐like structure to circular cross section. Referring to the literature the probable mechanism responsible for the change of morphology is pointed out. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2009  相似文献

The electrospun nanofibers emerge several advantages because of extremely high specific surface area and small pore size. This work studies the effect of PVA nanofibers diameter and nano‐sized TiO2 on optical properties as reflectivity of light and color of a nanostructure assembly consisting polyvinyl alcohol and titanium dioxide (PVA/TiO2) composite nanofibers prepared by electrospinning technique. The PVA/TiO2 composite spinning solution was prepared through incorporation of TiO2 nanoparticles as inorganic optical filler in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution as an organic substrate using the ultrasonication method. The morphological and optical properties of collected composites nanofibers were highlighted using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and reflective spectrophotometer (RS). The reflectance spectra indicated the less reflectance and lightness of composite with higher nanofiber diameter. Also, the reflectance and lightness of nanofibers decreased with increasing nano‐TiO2 concentration. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci., 2013  相似文献

A nanofiber was obtained by electrospinning of “dialdehyde cellulose” (periodate-oxidized cellulose, DAC) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), using only water as the solvent. Celluloses of four different origins were fully oxidized with sodium periodate to water-soluble DAC. Aqueous solution of DAC showed inadequate spinnability regardless of the polymer concentration and the electrospinning conditions used. Addition of PVA improved the solution's viscoelasticity and, consequently, the solution's spinnability. We examined the effects of DAC/PVA composition and electrospinning parameters on fiber morphology. Highly homogeneous nanofibers were prepared from 1:1 up to 2:1 (weight) DAC/PVA blends while samples of lower viscosity or higher relative DAC contents resulted in continuous, beaded fiber networks. Characterization of the electrospun fabrics revealed a highly crosslinked DAC structure reinforced with PVA, strongly interacting through hemiacetal bonds and hydrogen bonding. Fluorescence labeling confirmed the presence of reactive aldehyde functionalities in the electrospun web. The versatile properties of DAC as reactive material can now be imparted on electrospun fiber and nanofiber material – which was not possible so far –further widening the application scope of this interesting cellulose derivative.  相似文献

Electrospinning, self‐assembly, and phase separation are some of the techniques available for the synthesis of nanofibers. Of these techniques, electrospinning is a simple and versatile method for generating ultrafine fibers from a wide variety of polymers and polymer blends. Poly L ‐lactide (PLLA) and Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) are biodegradable and biocompatible polymers which are mainly used for biomedical applications. Nanofibrous membranes with 1:9 ratio of PLLA to PVA (8 to 10 wt % and 10 wt %) were fabricated by electrospinning. The percentage porosity and contact angle of PVA in the PLLA‐PVA nanofibrous mat increased from 80 to 83% and from 39 ± 3° to 55 ± 3°, respectively. The water uptake percentage of PVA nanofibers decreased from 190 to 125% on the addition of PLLA to PVA in the PLLA‐PVA nanofibrous mat. The nanofiber morphology, structure and crystallinity were studied by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), and X‐ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. The thermal properties were studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetery (DSC). The biocompatibility studies of PLLA‐PVA blend were performed using fibroblast cells (NIH 3T3) by MTT assay method. The release of Curcumin (0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 wt %) from PLLA‐PVA blend was found to be ~ 78, 80, and 80%, respectively, in 4 days. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci., 2013  相似文献
