It is our pleasure to present this special issue of Heat Transfer Engineering based on the selected papers presented at the first International Conference on Thermal Energy and Environment held during March 24–26, 2011, at Kalasalingam University, Srivilliputhur, Tamil Nadu, India. The conference was jointly sponsored by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), Mumbai, and Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), New Delhi.  相似文献

The Joint 18th International Heat Pipe Conference (IHPC) and the 12th International Heat Pipe Symposium (IHPS) was held at Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel in Jeju Korea during June 12–16, 2016. The joint conference organized by Heat Pipe Committee of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers (KSME) combines two historical triennial gatherings into one massive conference. More than 240 participants, sponsors, and exhibitors attended the conference from 24 countries around the world. Altogether 144 technical papers were presented in the technical sessions, which included the most up-to-date technologies associated with heat pipes.  相似文献

It is our pleasure to present this special issue of Heat Transfer Engineering with a selection of papers presented at the 20th National and 9th ISHMT-ASME Heat and Mass Transfer Conference, held January 4–6, 2010 in Mumbai, India. The conference was jointly sponsored by the Indian Society of Heat and Mass Transfer (ISHMT) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and was held at the auditorium of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd., at Anushakthi Nagar, Mumbai, India. The conference local organizer was Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.  相似文献

The 10th UK National Heat Transfer Conference was held in Edinburgh, Scotland, during 10–11 September 2007 under the auspices of the UK Heat Transfer Committee and was co-organized by the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University. The conference was part of a series of conferences which were initially organized every 4 years but more recently every 2 years in a synchronized manner with the European Thermal Sciences Conference and International Heat Transfer Conference. Thus, the UK heat transfer community, along with the international participants, can get together every year in a national or European or international heat transfer conference.  相似文献

This paper reviews the state of the art in design methods for multicomponent condensation and boiling. In multicomponent condensation, a range of methods of varying complexity are available to calculate the local heat and mass transfer rates; the complexity depends on the detail with which the mass transfer resistances are calculated. These methods are briefly reviewed and their interrelationships along with those of their expertmental validation are discussed. Mixture boiling research has thus far followed different lines and very little effort has gone into understanding the liquid multicomponent diffusion process in boiling. Research work has been mainly concentrated on understanding the dynamics of bubble growth; heat transfer calculations are done using empirical corrections to coefficients calculated for pure fluids. The extensive research in these areas is reviewed and also the few previous studies on convective two-phase heat transfer to mixtures are described. In conclusion, possible design recommendations are offered. It is suggested that, although condensation and boiling heat transfer in mixtures have hitherto been studied separately, a combined research approach may produce further advances.  相似文献

Penetrative convection in a stably stratified fluid has been reproduced in laboratory by employing a tank filled with water and subjected to heating from below. The goal of the experiments is predicting the mixing layer growth as a function of initial and boundary conditions and describing the fate of a tracer dissolved in the fluid phase. The equipment employed is suitable for simultaneously providing temperatures inside the domain through thermocouples and Lagrangian particle trajectories by feature tracking. The field of view is illuminated through a thin light sheet with suitable optical equipment. To fully characterize the transport feature of the phenomenon under investigation, the mixing layer growth is detected employing both temperature data and statistics of the velocity field, i.e., the vertical velocity component standard deviation. The velocity spatial correlation allows the plume horizontal dimension to be determined. This information coupled with the knowledge of the mixing layer height allows the spatial extension of the convective region to be fully described.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The 5th Micro and Nano Flows Conference was held at the Politechnico Di Milano between 11 and 14 of September 2016, see http://mnf2016.com. The MNF Conference series originated in Strathclyde University in 2006 and was followed by meetings at Brunel University London in 2009, the Aristotle University Thessaloniki in 2011, and the University College London in 2014. A total of 145 papers were presented by colleagues from around the world at MNF2016. Keynote lectures were presented by leading experts highlighting recent research developments in thermofluid and biomedical micro flows. Twelve papers were selected for this special edition and were reviewed according to the criteria used by the Journal of Heat Transfer Engineering.  相似文献
